I’m stoked to show you today the latest HRG shirt!!!
Whatever the mile may be, we all hit that lovely wall at some point during an endurance race and we may need to apologize later on to our loved ones/the people around us for what we said at that point when our entire body was hurting;)
I think we all know this feeling all too well!
There are all sorts of different styles and colors for you to choose from so make sure to check them out HERE!!!
My personal favorite is the Bella Flowy Tank (below with one of my previous shirts)! It is so beyond comfortable!
I know, I really should go into fashion blogging (I’m 100% kidding;) Here is what the v-neck version looks like too! The perfect gift for yourself, your friends/family, your running buddy or a runner that you see randomly out on the road all of the time. They will be available until May 12th!!
I don’t have a lot for you today (I’m writing this post wayyyyyyyyyyy too late at night) but like usual…. I did this:
Speaking of mile 20… my new shirt is going to really come in handy later on this year.
I entered the lottery for the St. George Marathon. I just couldn’t help it. I didn’t want to get to the end of the summer and feel really good about training for a marathon again and then not be registered for St. George. I want to go about training a lot different than I did last year (not so obsessed about a sub 3… smaller goals and chipping away at my time… and a lot more trail running… plus Josse is running it and we love marathon training together) so that my body/stomach will hold up better. I just love this marathon so much and I want to do it this year with a much more laid back approach and really enjoy the training. Brooke will also be in school more during this training cycle so I can get in my long run each week while she is in school:)
Cross your fingers that I get in! Until then I have a few more 1/2 marathons which I’m excited about too!
I walked into my sister’s front door yesterday afternoon to a complete dance party going on and so we gladly joined!
Brooke fell asleep half standing up and half on the couch yesterday…
Last night I had a really fun date that started out with this salad and Pizza Factory breadsticks.
We then loaded up on the best treats (**please note I have the tastebuds of a 5 year old) and went star gazing. It was a blast!
PS random, but try doing this right after your next run.. it feels so so good!
PPS you have to WATCH THIS today. She is absolutely adorable! And beyond amazing!
I hope your Tuesday is a great one and I’ll see you in a few hours!!!

I’m not signed up for any races yet but I’ve got a really big one in mind!
Michele @paleorunningmomma
Breakfast was leftover meatballs with plantains and eggs :) I can totally relate to the mile 20 thing and I’m definitely apologizing to myself in that scenario!
Sarah @ SarahRuns26
She’s such an amazing woman! I watched that video yesterday and it made me tear up (happy tears)! My grandpa would have been 101 next month but he passed away on Sunday, so it made me think of him.
I can’t decide what races I need to sign up for, but I’m going crazy not training. I’d love to go to the west coast but am running out of states that direction (I’m doing a marathon in all 50 states) so I’m thinking maybe Maine or NH. We’ll see.
Love the new shirts!!
Stephanie
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your grandpa. How wonderful that he led such a long life, though!
Sarah @ SarahRuns26
Thank you! He had a wonderful life and it should be celebrated!
Amy
I was supposed to run my first marathon in three years in June (I had some serious mental issues with marathons after my last one) but I was asked to speak at a youth conference the same day, it was a tough choice, but the youth conference won. So now I need to find a new marathon! Maybe I should enter the STG lottery (though the two times I ran it I died from the heat).
Natalie
I don’t know why lying down with your legs up against something feels SO good, but it does. :)
There’s not necessarily a certain distance point I hit a wall–it’s more mental for me. It even happens in shorter races (sadly) sometimes that I have to force myself to overcome the mental wall that starts to hit me, and I have to remind myself that I am capable of hitting my goals and that I need to push myself harder. It can be tough, that’s for sure!
Steph @ loveandlunge
breakfast was Kodiak Cake pancakes which has become a staple at this point. Tried the new dark chocolate flavor from Target and it is buenoooo.
I have a couple races scheduled for the rest of the year, but I’m not sure if I’ll be in running shape due to an achilles injury I’m dealing with. It’s so fun to dream about races though, I’m getting so antsy!
Hannah @ Will Run For Coffee
I don’t have any races at all on my horizon! I need to sort that one out, pronto.
I entered the London Marathon ballot today, for what it’s worth. It’s so oversubscribed, I won’t be holding my breath. I might consider running for charity instead, as it’s one I reeeeeally want to do!
Christy
Thanks for mentioning the London Marathon! It’s def on my bucket list. I’m going to sign up too! You never know if you’ll get in if you don’t try right? Good luck!
Karien @ Running the Race
I haven’t signed up for any races for the rest of the year yet – and haven’t really got any races in mind yet either… I guess I should be getting my behind in gear, right…?
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
I have a marathon at the end of July but no races afterwards. There’s a couple I have my eye on but I don’t want to lock myself into anything until after the race. Breakfast is oatmeal with fruit and seeds!
Arthi
Love putting my legs up against the wall after a run!
My 2016 goal is to run a race every month so I’m signed up for a ton already! Soldier Field 10-miler, Pacing the Michelob ULTRA Half, Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon, Chicago Marathon … And I’m still scoping out my other options :)
Christy
Napa to Sonoma and Chicago are some of my favorites! Happy training!
Arthi
Thank you!!! Love Chicago and have never run Napa to Sonoma … Excited for wine at the finish :)
Becky @Ok, So Here's the Plan
I have a half coming up in June and a full (my second) in October. I’ll probably throw a few shorter ones in there too.
I didn’t officially hit a wall during my marathon last year, but I have felt pretty terrible at mile 10 of a lot of half marathons.
So far I have only had a lot of coffee. There will be yogurt and toast in a bit though.
Michelle
I had my usual chia seed/oatmeal/banana pudding concoction for breakfast. I prep a big batch of the oats and chia seeds at the start of the week then eat a big scoop with a banana in the morning. It’s quick and delicious!
The only race I am registered for this year is the Philadelphia Marathon. Currently looking for a half to run during my training.
Rosie
San Francisco Marathon at the end of July and the Big Sur/Monterey Bay Half in mid-November.
Breakfast will be overnight scottish oats with a banana, milk and flaxseed. I may or may not heat it up.
Ultra Run Couple @UltraRunCouple
We have a 24 hour race on June 4th, then our 48 hour on 4th of July weekend that I am SUPER excited for!
Breakfast was a big apple (I like them sort of soft – I know, odd), a yogurt, and oatmeal and PB.
In 100 milers, I tend to hit the wall around mile 80 or 85. I always think, 20 or 15 miles is a long way to run on a day when I am fresh, so it seems like FOREVER when I have been running all day and part of the night!
Jenny
I’m not signed up for any yet, but I’m looking for a 5k to sign up for as soon as I get the ok from my dr to run again. That way I won’t find excuses to wait so long to start up again.
Julie
Hi Janae! Question: So I used to use tha asics kayanos but after a few years I ended up getting a stress fracture. After, I switched to the nike free since I heard minimalists shoes are actually better for your feet. Now, however, I’ve come down with a minor case of plantar facilitis. Do you have recommendations? I know you’ve had both issues before so I’d love any thoughts!
Meredith @ the cookie chrunicles
Oatmeal as usual! I’m trying to figure out my upcoming races now that my half is over. Probably a 10 mile race on Memorial Day plus a few halfs on the horizon for the fall. Trying to narrow those down!
Amanda @ Exploring Life & Things
That’s so exciting about entering the lottery! I have a few more 5ks this month, a half marathon, and then the Ragnar Relay from Madison, WI to Chicago in June… I’m so excited for that!
Christine
I just did a half on Sunday so I need to plan what’s next! I am doing a 5k in two weeks. I would like to do the 7 mile Falmouth road race in August (It’s a big party I heard but you get in by charity or lottery). I am also contemplating a half in October. Finish line food includes a lobster roll and clam chowder, this race speaks to my belly! And yes, I’m provoked by food to sign up for a race! This last race I did over the week had cider donuts, ice cream and beer!
Breakfast was siggis strawberry yogurt w/ walnuts, blueberries, banana and cinnamon! (IG @real.eats)
Kathy
I’m pregnant and due in November. Sadly, no St. George this year. It looks like it will be an amazing year with the anniversary celebration!
The wall is pretty much always 20-22. Also as a side note- I love your shirt! I probably should wear this on a run with my normal race buddy. The apology is still needed.
Kelly M
Breakfast for me was Oats + Chia Coconut Blend. I got it from Costco a month ago and am completely hooked.
Cynthia
Breakfast was tons of fresh fruit, eggs and homemade bread – after a 4 mile run in 90% humidity! The St. George Marathon looks amazing and I want to run it one day!
[email protected]
I had some yoghurt and fruit for breakfast – and a vanilla latte!
I have another half marathon in a month, one 5K in September and another half in October – that is it so far!
Jen
I’m hoping to get into the St. George Marathon lottery as well. :) Until then, I have Fargo Marathon in 2 1/2 weeks, Grandmas Marathon in June. I want a BQ so bad!! I also have a few half marathons mixed in along with quite a few 5ks with my 8-year-old daughter who is quite the up and coming running. Makes this mom happy!
Kristen @ Glitter and Dust
Love the shirt. I don’t think I say anything at mile 20 – but I do have the look of death. Haha. My nonverbal speaks for itself.
I would love to run the St. George Marathon one day. This year I am primarily doing triathlosn and am signed up for Ironman Coeur d’Alene, however I do plan to run the California International Marathon. We’ll see. :)
Katrina
I’m definitely going to have to order than tank later, love it! I’ve got a 5k coming up at the end of May, but then I don’t have anything planned until September and November. I’m doing a half at a Balloon Festival in Plano, TX and then a full at the Route 66 Marathon! I might impulse sign up for a half in June though, but haven’t decided.
Chelsea @ Chelsea Be Healthy
I have a 10k this weekend! I’m really hoping for a PR! And then I’m also trying to talk my self into signing up for a full in October! Woooo!
My breakfast was a Lara bar (peanut butter chocolate chip is my favorite) and a banana! Quick and easy! :)
Nina
I’m running the Brooklyn half in a few weeks, NYC Marathon in November and I guess I’ll run my own borough, Staten Island half, in Oct. I’m told the last one is generally a good training run for NYC and gives a good idea of fitness. (like that’s not intimidating to think about).
I had Kodiak gluten free pancakes this morning. I usually eat oatmeal but was in the mood for pancakes. I defrosted frozen berries and toasted up some almond slivers to top them with.
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
Those shirts are too cute! Good luck with the lottery. I am sure you’ll get in. Breakfast was cauliflower and eggs with protein pancakes!
Bethany (Lulu)
Love the shirts! I need to get one of those :)
Breakfast today was a bowl of oatmeal with peanut coconut butter, grapes, and a glass of almond milk. So good.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff
I ran a half on Sunday and my next half isn’t until October. But I have a 5 miler on 5/28 and a 5k on 6/19.
I had a bacon cheddar waffle for breakfast.
Ali
I haven’t signed up yet but I’m training for Dam to Dam (in Des Moines) which is in a month. I’m dealing with an Achilles issue so I’m holding off on signing up. Breakfast was a Food for Life English muffin with strawberry jam. And coffee.
Clark
I made some smart (really dumb) remarks at about mile 21 – not good for a family blog – and I paid for them at 22-26.2 . Worse still, I couldn’t back them up!
I am going to register for Big Sur for next year sometime in June/July. I hope I get in. It will be very hard to train for in the snow belt I live in, but that’s the challenge, amirite?
Breakfast today = cafeteria scrambled eggs with hot sauce, 2 sausage links and coffee, then later I went back for a cappuccino chocolate chip muffin, because heck I ran this morning.
Katie
I’m signed up for the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey Relay (178 miles with 11 of my best friends!) June 3-4, the Lamoille Canyon Half (cute little hometown race) June 18, Revel Big Cottonwood (my favorite!) Sept 10, and the Seattle Marathon (my first!) November 27th.
Lately my wall has been showing up around mile 8. I’m really bad at being conservative in the first 10k.
Today I had yogurt with berries, almonds, and chia seeds. My 2 and 3 year old daughters asked for more!
I love the shirt, and totally just ordered one as my mother’s day gift. Thanks for making life so easy for my husband ;)
Christy
RTO is such a great event! Have fun and happy training!
Katie
I’m glad to hear that! It’s my first relay!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me
That shirt is hilarious! I wish I have run a marathon at some point in my life, because then I could buy it. ONE DAY I will!
Shalyn
Just did a half on Sunday and had the BEST time with so many friends and it was a huge one (Vancouver BMO) – I will be doing a few more halfs this year (MEC offers $20 races so they are nice and cheap!) I think my goal is to get really fast at halfs before I sign up for a full.
I felt bad (cramps) this race near the end and just kept telling myself – only 12 more minutes…orwhatever. Also I kept saying, you can do hard stuff – finish strong.
Vega Smoothie – every.single.day.
Christy
I have a couple friends signed up for the St George lottery so I’m seriously considering it. But I’m coming off 2 back to back marathons so I’m in no hurry to sign up for another this year. I’m signed up for the San Diego RNR 1/2 and a couple local races for now. Since I just did the Big Sur marathon some friends and I are considering the half in November.
[email protected]
I LOVE those new shirts! That is the truth! I need to register for St. George and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! Happy running!
Taylor
I had a banana and dark chocolate over night oats for breakfast today!! I love that -legs up the wall – stretch. So good for your hamstrings and lower back!
Natalie
I just entered the lottery! It would be my first full marathon and your blog makes me want to run through Utah, so best case scenario if I get in! Right now, I’m signed up for a 10k, half marathon, and 9-Miler later this year.
The furthest distances I’ve ever ran are half marathons, so I usually hit a wall around miles 9-10.
Breakfast today was a banana, yogurt, and granola!!
Emma @myfullfatlife
Before my workout I drank a protein shake and then came home and made huevos rancheros :)
Love the shirt. I’ve never ran 20 miles but someday!
Holly @ Pink-Runner.com
I love that leg up on the wall pose too :) I stay until my feet go numb!
Kathy McElhaney
I have a 10k this Sunday. I’m also signed up for the Honolulu Marathon in December. I plan to participate in the Marathon Readiness Series (5 races from 15k to 30k) that leads up to the marathon. Those start in August so I’m taking it pretty easy between now and then!
Breakfast was a peanut butter/banana/spinach/almond milk smoothie.
Mollie
Haha those shirts. My marathon wall was 18. Man, it hurt so bad after that!! Breakfast today was an egg, cheese and tomato sandwich courtesy of my husband…he’s on a roll with cooking!
Jill @ RunEatSnap
I am not signed up for any races – just coming off a failed attempt at training for a second marathon (got injured). Bummer! I am taking it easy and enjoying not having any pressure of training right now. I have never hit the wall during a race though – nutrition is key! My breakfast this morning was my usual breakfast – two slices peanut butter toast and a fruit smoothie with Greek yogurt! Yum!
Haley B
My husband and I signed up for the St George Marathon lottery as well! Super excited and hope we get in, coming from Atlanta and making it a vacation! Any must do’s while we are there?
Christy
Oh I love the shirt. I had to buy it! Too bad I won’t have it this weekend when I hit mile 20.
Andrea
The only race I’m signed up for is the Angel Fire marathon in July – my first marathon. I want to do the Tucson Marathon in December, but I want to see how this first one goes before I sign up! If 26.2 miles isn’t my cup of tea, then I definitely want to do the half.
I love the shirt too! I haven’t hit 20 miles in training yet but I know the general feeling! I also need a shirt that says “Sorry for what I said when I was hangry ” :P
Daisy- Fit Wanderlust Runner
I only have two races for the year: San Diego Rock n Roll Half Marathon and the Chicago Marathon!! I am super excited about running the marathon.
