Friday Favorites and YOUR Running Accomplishments!!!

Let’s cover the Friday Favorites this morning!

1.  I’m stoked for a weekend full of time with this guy.

2.  Sour candy.  For some reason this stuff has sounded way better than chocolate again!?  This is what happens when you have the tastebuds of a 6 year old

IMG 8103

3.  Favorite warmer weather clothing items these days that I’m living in——>   this top, I’m all about loose white blouses, striped popover, these maxi dresses, these sandals (I’m picky with my sandals because my feet hurt if there is no support), this BR v-neck (my mom gave me this and has me hooked on the linen) and I really want this swimsuit.

(non-relevant picture from when I was in California and ate an ice cream cone in the parking lot after dropping Brooke off for the weekend)

4.  Zoodles (zucchini noodles).  I am loving these lately.  We made a big batch yesterday and cooked them in a pan on the stove before adding marinara sauce and chicken.

IMG 8098

This is going to be a once a week meal for us.  So so so good.

IMG 8100

5.   I tried this deep conditioner when I was staying at Jessie’s house and I had to order it when I got home because it made my hair feel a million times healthier (and smell really good too).

IMG 7704 1

6.  I saw my favorite burrito bowls at Costco last night (30 grams of protein per bowl!!!).  These things make for the easiest lunches.

IMG 8071

Costco had these to sample last night.  EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH for the win.

IMG 8073

All smiles after about 10 samples and buying a shopping cart full of berries.

IMG 8083

7.  Summer nights are here (even though it started to rain last night…).  We went to the park to hit balls for the dog and to let Brooke run around too.

IMG 8104

8.  THIS SONG to run to.  Finding a good running song is my love language.

IMG 8105

-1.  (Least Favorite) She is moving away from me tomorrow.  Not okay.  But at least I got to sneak her away for 1.5 hours yesterday before she leaves.

Don’t forget to keep sending in your running accomplishments if you want to be featured on Friday!!! These stories inspire and motivate us all!  Send them to [email protected]

Jennifer!!! “May 1st I ran the New Jersey Half.  I seem to be having terrible luck with races lately, as they are all getting rained on.  I was determined to make this one successful.  I was just hoping for no walking, no matter what my pace.  I decided that each chunk of miles I would run for someone, to keep me going.  Since May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month, the first 10 were for my dad who passed away from brain cancer 9 years ago.  Miles 11 and 12 were each for one of my boys, and the last .1 was for me.  I finished in 2:21!”

Holley!!! “So this past weekend I ran my first marathon, the Maine coast marathon in Kennebunk, Maine… What a gorgeous course!! I finished in 4:04, which is right around where I thought I would finish and felt great at the end (especially after a training cycle dealing with ITB problems).  Then after I crossed the finish line while taking pictures with my family, my boyfriend proposed and I said OMG YES.  As you can imagine… SO MANY EMOTIONS in one day haha! I also graduate college this week… I’d say May was a major success! I cannot wait to do another marathon, but I don’t think any PR will ever top this day!”

Rachel!!!  “One of my best friends, Colleen (in the black sweatshirt), was suffering from an injury 3 months prior to this 5k and wasn’t even sure if she was going to run it.  She had been aiming for a slightly slower time and mainly to finish the race pain free, but she killed it! She PR’d by over 2 minutes and ran a 7:30 pace! She’s been thinking about running a half in the fall and I think she should go for it-I know she’s much more capable than she thinks! Go Colleen Go!! (and happy almost birthday!))

Gina!!! “This past weekend I ran my first half marathon! I’ve been into running for a few years and even place in some 5ks but honestly the half (and of course the full) scared me.  I put so much into my training and I’m so excited that I finished with my goal pace in 1:45:25! I woke up race day sick with a headache and sore throat but I was looking forward to this day for months, and nothing was going to stop me.  Seeing my kids at the finish line chanting Mama and giving me high fives as I crossed made it all worth it! Already looking forward to my next on Rock n’ Roll Philly in September.”

I love zoodles but I’ve never cooked them in a pan – what a great idea! I bet they taste so much better that way than in the microwave (which is what I normally do)!

That bathing suit is really cute, now I want it too!

I love Power by Kanye, definitely a great running song. Stronger by Kanye is another one of my favorites to run to!

Reply

Need to do the zoodles again, I feel like spring calls for it. I think I make burgers and sweet potato fries the most, or maybe meatballs. I love sweet potato noodles but zoodles are easier!

Reply

I’m really loving fruit snacks and gummy bears more than usual right now. And blackberries–those things are delicious!

So happy for you–you look so full of joy in your relationship! :) Enjoy your weekend!

I’m loving the warmer weather but I’m not prepared for hot weather. That can stay away. I’ve been on the hunt for shoes with good arch supports that I can wear at work and don’t look like orthodics. Harder than you’d think. Our chocolate lab could chase the ball for HOURS everyday. He loves it! Have a great weekend!

Reply

It’s never zoodles for me, but either beet-oodles???? or sweet potato-noodles!

Reply

I’m totally going to have to try your sweet potato-noodless… Brilliant!! I think I’ll stay away from the beet-oodles ahah! hope you have an awesome weekend Rebecca!

Reply

Looks like you have a fun weekend planned ;) Love you and your man together- so adorable!
I have run different miles with different people in mind, usually praying for them during that mile. It is a good way to distract myself from the pain and fun to do too!

Reply

I make zoodles once or twice a week! I love them simple with just lemon, basil and olive oil. And that Kanye song is one of my all-time favorites for running. Have a great weekend!

Reply

Hey, Your guy looks good from behind too!……hahahhah!

(just thought that would give you a chuckle)

Reply

HAHAHH Kathy, I’m definitely going to have to agree with you on this one!

Our favorite things lately have been heading out for early, early morning runs (4 am today!) to get in 12-15 miles before work. I just love feeling that sense of accomplishment before 7 am!

Your noodles look delicious. So, another favorite thing is looking forward to eating, running, eating more, and hanging out with my hubby this weekend.

I am a bit lazy when it comes to makeup and hair products, but my dad’s girlfriend owns a fancy salon so she typically buys me awesome products for gifts. I use whatever she is giving:)

Edible cookie dough? Why has this never been a thing before now?!?!!?!?

I love you are showing the man in your life now – you both look so happy – have the best smiles :)

Reply

zoodles are the best!!!! craving them now. is that an okay breakfast food haha? also, edible cookie dough sounds like the thing dreams are made of. your costco always has so much better stuff than mine haha!

Reply

You two are adorable! I haven’t made zoodles yet, even though I eat a ton of zucchini this time of year.

Reply

Will you help a technically challenged friend out? I’m compiling my playlist for the Ogden half tomorrow (which I decided to run just yesterday and luckily found someone selling their bib!:)), and am wondering where you find the edited versions of songs. Apparently I need a little Kanye in my life. Who knew?!
Love your blog. Love that you’re finding love again.

Reply

HEY NATALIE!! Where do you get your music? Once you tell me that I can better help you find the edited versions! GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!! I’m stoked for you Natalie and thank you so much!

Reply

Thanks, Janae! I’ve only ever gotten my music off of iTunes. Is there a better option?

Reply

HEY!! Okay, so for iTunes I just search the song and clean together—> So for this one I searched Kanye POWER Clean and it popped up… it will have a C by it if clean and an E by it if Explicity. I just started using spotify and trying to figure that all out but so far I am loving it and it is super easy to search for edited versions of songs. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW and have a blast!

Oomph my heart goes out to running the NJ half/full. I ran Broad Street that same day and the weather was pouring rain and windy. The East Coast has had such poor luck with races this year. Hopefully we get one nice weekend.

I’ve been looking for a nice conditioner to keep my knots at bay.

Reply

I really loving watermelon lately! I could literally eat a whole one in one sitting.
A dinner I make often is a shrimp rice bowl. I just cook up some rice, shrimp, and tons of vegetables and mix it all together!
I dedicate my miles to my loved one that I’ve lost. I always see cardinals on my run, and I like to think they are my grandparents looking down on me.

Reply

We do a lot of chicken tacos and breakfast for dinner at our house.

Costco must sell out of those fast or the one I go to doesn’t ever have them. I can’t ever find them but they look so good!

Reply

Ahhhh, love the accomplishments! Well done, ladies!

Reply

I saw those burrito bowls the other day and wondered if they were good. Thanks for the tip! Zoodles and pesto. Quick, easy and yummy! Congrats to all the great runs ladies!

Reply

I’ve been living in my new Birkenstock rose gold metallic arizonas. With the soft footbed they are awesome!! Quick question, do those korkease make the little air puff noise when you walk? I have a pair of wedges I love from korkease and they drive me nuts!!
I also use that same shampoo and conditioner, I loooove it!

Reply

Hey Kristin!!! Oh I love Birks and I want the pair you have right this second. So mine do not make that puff noise (that would drive me crazy too) but I have not had that experience at all with these! Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Reply

If you have not looked at this website for recipes, you have to check it out! Have a good weekend :)

Okay, you are the best! THANK YOU ANNA!! We will be using those recipes asap!

Reply

ZOODLES FOR THE WIN! I like mine lightly sauteed with some butter and then parmesan on top after – simple, totally delicious.

Reply

Holley: Wow, I am not sure that anyone will be able to top that in future “Friday” posts! What a great story, and congratulations!

Reply

RIGHT!?!?! Seriously such an awesome story!

Reply

Kerastase is the seriously the best line of hair products!! My favorite. I love the crystalliste mask- you have to try it! Have a great weekend

Reply

Okay… now I need to get the crystalliste mask!! Like now! Thanks Meredith and enjoy your weekend too!

I’m kind of obsessed with this pumpkin seed oil lately https://www.wholeheartedfoods.com/pumpkinseed-oil-shop.htm. We have nut and sesame allergies in our house so I sub this whenever a recipe calls for sesame oil (Asian recipes) and in my hummus instead of tahini and it is amazing! And it’s not cross-contaminated on nut equipment. It is so good!
I almost never cook the same thing but black beans and rice is probably a go-to meal for us.
We love zoodles with pesto and shrimp.
And that conditioner really is amazing. I might have to go buy some today.

Reply

I actually dedicate every mile to a friend or family member. I pray for them and just try to remember the great in each one of them. Makes the time go by and it makes my heart full and happy! :)

Reply

Okay, I love that Daisy!! So awesome!

Reply

You and the BF are too cute! Zoodles happen a lot here too. I’m planning to spiralizing a few fun veggies myself this weekend.

Reply

Every time I go to Costco I look for those chicken bowls but can’t find them. Where are they at?
Have a great weekend. You and your boyfriend are sure cute together!

Reply

Hey Nicole!! In our Costco they are in the refrigerated area towards the dairy section and also next to the cold salsas!! I hope you find it… if not I will have to send you some in a refrigerated box!

Reply

I love that Holley is wiping her eyes with the after race cover! So cute!! What a special day for her!

Reply

I seriously love the Friday running accomplishments! They are so motivational and inspiring!

Reply

that swimsuit you tagged is perfect!! ran 7 miles this morning which is the farthest I’ve ran in years thanks to actually having some free time after graduating nursing school a few weeks ago! I’m excited to spend time with my fiance’ this weekend since he’s in the police academy and I haven’t seen him in almost a week!! Have a good weekend with your guy and Brooke!!!

Reply

I’m curious if people buy the edible cookie dough just to eat it (as is) or to still bake cookies? I see a trip to Costco happening in the near future.

Favorite shampoo and conditioner –> Moroccanoil

P.S. You are your man are SO cute!

Reply

I am so trying that deep conditioner. I have been looking for a good one. :) Where did you find the thing that you needed to make your zucchini noodles. I need one!

Reply

HEY RACHEL!! Let me know what you think of the deep conditioner and here is the link to the zoodle maker:

Sour patch kids are my faveeee!

Reply

I have a Costco trip planned today after work and I definitely want to get some of those Chicken Burrito bowls. So much protein!

Reply

We’ve done zoodles a few times too! I accidentally pureed my cooked cauliflower too much (I was going for mashed cauliflower), anyway I added garlic, mozzarella, and plenty of parmesan and it was delicious on the zoodles!

Favorite things lately: smoked chicken and berry salads, fresh strawberries from a local stand, and lots of bbq’s now that it’s warming up!

I try and switch up my shampoo/conditioner every few months, but I like Biolage, Joico, and Redken. Redken is probably my fav, but mostly because of the smell ;)

I definitely dedicate certain miles to different people, I also spend a lot of time praying for people while running. It’s so therapeutic.

Reply

You guys look so happy it melts me heart!! You bring so much happiness to other people so it’s lovely to see your big smile.
Congrats to the lady who got engaged after her first marathon – wow!! Awesome time and what an awesome memory. Ok I’m off for my long run now – 5 more till marathon day. Talk soon xx

Reply

What does your boyfriend do Janae? You two make a really cute couple. You deserve to be happy!

Reply

First of all, you two are the cutest couple ever. Second of all, I’ve never met a homemade cookie dough that wasn’t edible. Store bought cookie dough is crazy talk!

Reply

Janae, I am obsessed with the Ray Bans you are wearing. Can you please tell me exactly what kind you are wearing? Thanks and I am so happy about the new BF- you deserve every happy second!!!

Reply

How exactly do you cook your zucchini noodles? I have some zucchinis but I’m afraid I’m going to cook them weird.

Reply

Reply

Isn’t ALL cookie dough “edible”? I know in my book they are (just sayin’!) LOL :)
