So far we have celebrated our yearly girls’ trip with all of our favorite things (ps this post is short on words because we went to bed 4 hours later than my normal bedtime).

IMG 4468

We started off the morning with a treadmill run.  Luckily right when we got to the hotel gym four treadmills opened up right next to each other.   Five happy miles next to my girls @ a 7:35 pace.

IMG 4508

I rather enjoy trying out new treadmills especially the high tech ones that have a touchscreen (and a FAN….).

IMG 4442

We went straight to the pool and ate some salads.  The weather was perfect and it never felt too hot or too cold.

IMG 4450

And then we finally got ready and left the hotel (which is surprising because usually when we go somewhere we rarely leave the hotel because we kind of love being boring).

IMG 4459

Dinner was at Mon Ami Gabi and we ate outside right across from the Bellagio fountains which made dinner even more fun.

IMG 4471

Steak frites for the win!

IMG 4474

We then did the walking around thing for some time.

IMG 4510

The best.

IMG 0393

And because chocolate together is just our thing.

IMG 4483

Brooke is clearly missing me like crazy.

IMG 4436

But at least I get to join in on some of her meals while I’m away.

Looks like an amazing fun time especially with all those yummy food pics! They’re making me happy just looking :)

Weekend plans > I’m being a good sister. My brother is moving out of London, so I have said I’ll drive the van so he can drive his car. (I’d rather the other away around, but he’s not a sharer with his car :).

Best part of Friday > When any one of the disasters I am facing at work resolves itself. I organise events, with is basically managing a series of deadlines and associated disasters.

Best thing I’ve eaten all week > cowboy caviar!

I wish I were eating salads next to a pool somewhere warm. Fancy swapping?

Your trip looks so fun–and such great food, too! :)

The best thing I’ve eaten this week is definitely the sugar cookies our company had on Wednesday from my sister’s best friend’s cookie shop. SO good. And now I’m looking forward to froyo and REST this weekend!

It looks like you are having such a fun time in Vegas! I wish I was with my best friends right now. We usually do an annual beach trip, but I’m going to Italy this year so I won’t be able to go. That article on the exchanged bib was SO interesting. Yeah, that’s a tough situation, but you just have to run again to qualify you can just use that time that isn’t fully yours. Sad though!

I have a half marathon tomorrow so I’m excited to “rest my legs” tonight/sit on the couch and binge on Veronica Mars as a throw back to my middle school obsession!

Weekend plans – Dinner with a bunch of friends tonight + Running the Chi Town Half Marathon tomorrow!

Best thing I’ve eaten all week – They opened a Nothing Bundt Cakes in my neighborhood recently and I hopped in to check it out. They were sampling the cinnamon swirl cake and it was the most heavenly thing I’ve ever consumed in my entire life. I can’t wait to go back and buy … Everything.

I feel like her giving her bib away could have been forgiven… if she hadn’t used her friend’s time to register the next year for Boston. VERY WRONG and she knew that so… consequences. People work very hard to qualify for Boston and she took a spot away from someone who could have earned it the right way.

Sounds like you’re having a good time in Vegas! My favorite function on the treadmill is when it simulates the incline of trails and play a trail on the screen. It makes time go by faster!

Reply

My favorite treadmill perks are the a/c, a cupholder for my drink and a bathroom nearby! haha

I love treadmills that have fans. My old gym had them but my current gym doesn’t and I now realize how much I took those fans for granted!

Hope you have a great time in Vegas! I love going to Cirque shows while I’m there! O at the Bellagio is a must see if you haven’t been yet!

Dear friend from college is in town and staying with us. Yeah!

Have a blast!!!

Reply

Looks like a blast! How lucky to score all of those treadmills right by each other. My weekend plans are dinner with friends, paper writing, and a looooong run!

I am most excited about spending the weekend running (and eating!) with my hubby love! We are nearing in on our 9 year anniversary and he is still my bff.

Looks like you are having a blast and Brookers is loving her cousin time. Have a fantastic rest of your trip!!!

This weekend we’re starting to paint my house! So excited. We were originally going to do some yard work, but it’s snowing right now….what the heck spring!

Reply

Tomorrow will be a cozy rainy day with the boyfriend. Probably dinner and a movie. Sunday I am running a half marathon in Philadelphia. Should be a fun weekend.
I just made myself a pancake for breakfast so that will have to be best thing I ate today. Pancakes are always the best thing.

Reply

Thank you for mentioning my cookies! I’m going to drive to Vegas and eat donuts with you – be there in 4 hours!!

Reply

I’m super jealous of your chocolate treat! Tonight I am going to a Lebanese food festival that I go to every year. I’m really excited for the meat pies!!!

Enjoy your time in Vegas :)

Reply

This weekend is an active one! I kick it off with a run with my boy friend before he leaves for 3 weeks, a 2 hour cycle/20 min run, full day of snow boarding and a 4 hour adventure race on Sunday!

Reply

I’ve got a half this weekend and I’m so excited/nervous/pumped. I wish I had that chocolate sundae to fuel me haha. Also, Mon Ami Gabi has the BEST frties. I love them so much, but haven’t had them in forever. Definitely a good choice.

Vegas looks so fun! And that food looks amazing!!!

I am looking forward to my nieces first soccer game tomorrow bright and early!

I had the best grilled salmon last night do dinner and it totally hit the spot! Thank goodness for grilling season!:)

Reply

It looks like you are having a great time Janae. I’m glad to see that! My oldest brother actually got married right outside of Vegas in Henderson. We loved it out there!

I don’t have a lot going on this weekend. I might even skip racing too LOL.

Reply

Best thing I’m eating all week will be on Sunday when I have pizza and chocolate! I’ve been crab cycling and eating GF/dairy free for six weeks. It helped me finally get back to pre-pregnancy weight, and I will continue to do it, but this Sunday I’m eating whatever the heck I want for a day!

Reply

It sounds like a great day! That’s so cool you do a trip every year with your friends.

My gym has spoiled me with the treadmills there! They have fans, touch screen, tvs, and this virtual active feature where you can choose a different location and it feels like you’re running there! I love pretending like I’m running on the beach in Australia haha.

Reply

Do any of these girls blog? :)

Reply

Looks like my kind of Vegas trip! Weekend plans are to rest for the first time in months – hopefully catch up on reading, cleaning, and House of Cards. The best thing I have eaten all week was probably our homemade Italian dinner before coming back to the States.. all the food I’ve eaten since coming back has paled in comparison :P I’ve never really tried any fancy treadmills but a fan would be awesome!

Reply

I love Matt’s food philosophy! It’s not about restricting foods, it’s about filling up on good foods first!

Most looking forward to couple’s bunco and yummy treats at my house tomorrow night! The best thing I’ve eaten this week was smoked chicken and veggies with a berry salad (strawberries from the side of the road). I’m definitely eating leftovers today!

Reply

A fan on a treadmill sounds wonderful! I need to join a better gym that has these high tech treadmills!

I’m still eating my way through my Easter candy so that’s probably the best thing I’ve eaten this week. We had butternut squash with dinner last night that was really good, but the torture of peeling it first significantly decreased it’s appeal!

Reply

Really looking forward to this weekend! My boyfriend, son and I are heading out of town. Best part is that my boyfriend has kept the destination a surprise from us. :) No one has ever done anything like this for me. We talked about going away, then he asked if he could surprise me on location.

Reply

Thank you for the link love my friend! Have a fabulous time in Vegas!! :)

Serendipity is EVERYTHING!! So yummy! Best part of Friday/my weekend is definitely this Utah weather right now. Yes please!!

Reply

Looks like you are having a fun trip already!! so much yummy food!! Have a blast!

Reply

Looks like day one was a success. Nothing like looking at a pool while running on a treadmill and eating lots of chocolate! Those sundaes…. Yum!!!

Weekend plans involve going to Spring Festival, a long bike ride, celebrating a friend’s recent graduation from radiology school, and a 10K race on Sunday!

Reply

Pretty sure the best thing I ate this week was the build your own taco salad bar we had last night for my grandpas birthday party. I’m lucky to have a family who has really strong feelings about good food. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried Molly’s in Provo (they normally don’t do Mexican food but we know the owners so they made it special). Anyway, they normally have some really amazing pot roast and potatoes and pulled pork and stuff, you should try it if you haven’t already.

Reply

Weekend plans will consist of groceries, workouts, Netflix and last minute shopping for Mexico (I’m pretty boring on the weekends)..

And the best thing I’ve eaten all weekend is Captain Crunch cereal. By far the unhealthiest, but the tastiest treat I’ve had in SOOOO long!

Your garlic toast and soup (tomato?) looks unreal!!!

Reply

Best treadmill: Woodway. Even though it doesn’t have anything fancy, its SO nice to run on. I use them at Mile High Run Club and MyStryde in Boston for speed work, my fave!

Have you ever heard of the Revel Big Cottonwood marathon/know if its any good?? Trying to BQ for 2017 since my last marathon time is expired. I was hoping to run something this spring but not sure I’ll be ready, so looking at something for early fall! Its in SLC so figured you might be familiar!

Reply

So much fun! Love a good trip with good food. That chocolate sundae Looks like the serendipity frozen hot chocolate which now I am in mood for!

Reply

Love the treadmills with fans, but they never seem to go high enough for my likely. I like a strong breeze if I have to run indoors.

Reply

Looks like a fun trip!

I ran on a treadmill yesterday without a fan and looked like I ran way farther than 3 miles. I love being able to adjust the incline on the treadmill, and that it’s level. A lot of trails are sort of slanted.

Reply

Looks like fun! I used to live there, its a great place to visit, but really hated living there!

Reply

The food, gelato and the fountains were my favorite parts of Vegas.

I think we are going to a beer tasting this evening so that will be my favorite part of Friday. Tomorrow I pick up my bib for next weekend’s half-marathon. I look forward to hanging out in one of my favorite towns. I’m not looking forward to snow!?!

The fan and the speakers for my iPod are my favorite treadmill features.

Best thing I ate this week was carrot cake from Whole Foods. delicious. (ps – you had me craving carrot cake with your posts).

Reply

Aww…this is too sweet! Seeing these pictures makes me miss my friends. Hope you have an amazing rest of your trip!

Reply

I’m not entirely sure about this weekend’s plans. Probably packing. Plus I know we’ll be going to my kiddo’s softball game. Best part of Friday will probably be going to bed early. I’m a wild one, I know ?
I know with races like Boston it’s different but it annoys the heck out of me that most bibs are non transferable. People get pregnant or injured or deployed or… and should be able to recoup their $ or officially give the bib to a friend.

Reply

À Friday that includes a hair cut (and head massage) is a very good one for me. So hard to find the time! Enjoy your trip! Looks like a lot of fun!

Reply

I want a treadmill with a fan! I have plans to go for a run with friends in Central Park tomorrow and I’m also going for a quick trip to Baltimore this weekend. It should be fun!

I ate a delicious burger yesterday but the best part was the spiked milkshake – vanilla ice cream, caramel, and Jack Daniels.

Reply

This chocolate Sundae is like OMG the best i ve ever seen!!!!! Yum!!! No plans… relax and rest and a recovery -slow and short, doctors orders, run! Have fun!!

Reply

Weekend plans: most likely a run on Saturday and nothing else that day! Sunday, my husband is preaching at our church and then relaxing with family! It’s going to be perfect!
That sundae though- hello deliciousness!

In the pics from your dinner out, your friend second from the left (5th pic down in this post)–I LOVE her dress. Can you get details?! Looks like you are having a blast! Thanks :)

Reply

Where are you staying? I love that gym with the pool view!!

Reply

It looks like you are having a blast!! All of the foods that you have been eating have my mouth watering. ;) I love trying new treadmills too ha! This weekend will be spent getting boxes since we are getting ready to move in like a week, and also spending as much time as possible outside. :) I’m thinking a baseball game would be fun.

All the ladies are harping on the chocolate, gimme that steak. One of the best steaks I ever had was at Craftsteak at MGM in Vegas. Off menu Kobe beef, ridiculously expensive. Bought for 2 of my Army buddies too. That was a big bill that night.

Wife is sick and kids are a handful. If I get a run in tomorrow morning I’ll be happy. Likelihood is low.

Oh, and, cool I’m famous!

Reply

You guys should try to find the secret pizza place hidden inside the Cosmopolitan!!

Reply

I’m trying so hard to get into the treadmill. Maybe if mine had a fan I wouldn’t hate it so much.

Reply

I don’t really care about watching TV on the treadmill or anything like that, but I have an idea that would be great if someone could implement it! I want a treadmill that has an option of being able to program it to not let me exceed a certain pace/distance if I so desire. I have a horrible habit of taking my easy runs too hard and if I had a treadmill that held me accountable that would be great. :)

Reply

Your trip looks so fun!!!!! I want to go on a running blog/vlog runcation!
I love that I get to watch on my iPad on the treadmill and the fans!!!!!! Those are the top but then I love the inclines and declines. Friday plans are running and filming running! I love to see where I can correct my form to be more efficient. Plans not about working out are a birthday party for a neighbor and date night with husband and baby! ?

Reply

Vegas is so fun. I love your friend’s sparkly skirt…that’s adorable!
The gyms in vegas are always so nice! I love it when the tv has more than 3 channels and the headphone jack works! High standards right here.

Reply

Looks like you are having way too much fun!

I’ve never been to a very nice hotel with a great gym. Though most of the hotels I stay at are for a race.

Going to enjoy the nice sunny weather. ?

Looks like a fun girls’ weekend! You party the same way I do.

I have no exciting plans this weekend. I work and it’s supposed to snow. BOO!

We are house sitting in the city of Melbourne this weekend (australia) so we did 22 km on beautiful beach line this morning but then got stuck in such bad traffic on the way back (city newbies) so had to wait 2 hours to refuel ugh only starting to feel human now. Peanut butter and banana on toast is all my tummy can take right now. I’m also enjoying the post buzz from acupuncture last night – trying alternative methods to keep my body and mind healthy for my first marathon. Enjoy Vegas xx

I love catching up on your life via your blog!!! Vegas looks like so much fun! We need to plan something big for when you come out here!
XO

Yay for Vegas! I went for the first time three years ago, and was shocked how much fun you can have (even when you’re not a big fan of going out) :) the gym at the MGM grand overlooked the strip – that was the way to run. Even walking the Strip was hours of entertainment! Glad you had a great trip!

Weekend plans: working the water stop for the Rock N Roll Raleigh Hall/Full Marathon (mile 12/25 stop). Excited to cheer on the runners as they are so close to finishing a goal.

LOVE the new look of the blog!!!!
