The time I fell asleep mid blog post….

If you saw my blog post earlier this morning and it seemed incomplete… well, it was.  I literally fell asleep while I was writing it ha.  My sis is out of town so I slept at her house with her kiddos.  I was typing on my laptop in bed and I closed my eyes for just a minute….   and then I was out until little dude woke up at 4.  For some reason when I went back to sleep I thought I had finished my post for sure but I did not… so here is a little bit more:)

We were on soccer duty yesterday which was pretty exciting!

Spring… is there any better time of year?

Brooke did some downhill strides on the grass to help her to practice a fast leg turnover:)  She’s definitely onto something.

Brooke had me join along with her and she made sure to teach me what to do with my eyes while running…

I joined her for a few of the strides but then I watched from the grass because 12 miles in the morning plus downhill running with Brooke at the park = I was exhausted.

I also did my favorite IT Band stretch right now while we were at the park watching my niece’s practice.  I stack my legs and then bring my chest towards my quads and it burns quite a lot.  LOOSEN UP ALREADY IT BANDS (I’m not being dramatic one bit;)

One of our good friends made quite the fancy casserole for our dinner last night.  Creamy Chicken Quinoa Casserole for the win.  He nailed it!

After dinner we hung out on the porch for some time enjoying the fact that it is no longer freezing here.

Can we just talk about Megan’s amazing new purple shoes.  Can we ever have enough shoes?

The highlight of Brooke’s life——> cousin sleepover.

I’ve got some easy miles on the schedule today!   Easy miles are not junk miles!

Happy Wednesday! Gotta get those kids ready for school and I’ll be back later with a real post that I didn’t write half-asleep:)

Brooke’s little voice is so cute!

It looks so gorgeous there! And Brooke’s running tips are absolutely precious. :)

I’d be tired after 12 miles plus some strides too! I am 100% jealous of your scenery though! Wow!

I’m with you on that stretch, it is one of my favorites. I do it at work sometimes while sitting in my desk chair (which also take a little bit of balance!)

Those mountains are stunning!

IT Band stretches are always my FAVORITE! Mine are always tight so it feels good to stretch them or roll them out. All of your pictures outside are always so gorgeous..do you ever get used to the beautiful sites?! I feel like that could never get old!

Sunshine and mountains! I love it!

I love that stretch too! I hope that IT band loosens up for you quickly now! My hamstrings were tight earlier this week so I’ve been paying extra special attention to them recently.

love the figure 4 stretch! i have tight hips and try to do that one at least every few days to keep them in order.

I haven’t been stretching nearly enough but need to get back to it! I tend to overstretch so maybe the break is good, especially pre marathon.

I love Spring too! After a rainy few days over here on the east cost, we’re seeing the sun again and I can’t wait to get outside to run!

Too cute! Also, that is one of my all time favorite stretches. IT band issues are the worst and I’ve suffered from them in the past, so I know how much tight IT bands can suck. I’ve found that foam rolling and working my glutes have been the best for loosening them up and getting them back in running shape.

Wow, those mountains sure are beautiful! I love the colors of your nieces soccer jersey.
Brooke is such a pro at running. I need to take her advice!

Ahhhh those mountains are gorgeous! So jealous!

Brooke is just too cute!!

And my IT bands are always pretty tight too! I’ve been foam rolling like a crazy lady these days and I’m seeing a little bit of improvement. Hopefully they feel much better here soon!

I’ll have to try those IT band stretches. Mine are so tight! I usually start with crossing my feet and touching my toes, but leaning over to one side to stretch it. Then I move on to pigeon pose.

And yes, like everyone is saying, those mountains are just beautiful!

First time looking at the redesign of your site on a desktop. It’s lovely. Love all the photography in the marquis at the top.

Every time I think Brooke can’t get any cuter, you post another adorable video of her and I am proven wrong!

Spring time! It’s been so nice to be outside instead of bundled up inside.

Each picture you post makes me want to move closer to mountains more and more :)

Brooke is hilarious, you’re so lucky!

LOVE that IT Band stretch, thanks! I’m always looking for more ways to deal with the tightness in mine!

I think it is awesome that you are passing down your love of running to Brooke! And those purple shoes are too CUTE. It’s like Christmas morning when I get new Nikes/running shoes.

The amount of papers I have written half asleep/distracted and turned in is probably alarming.
Glad to know I’m not alone in the “I thought I was dreaming when I handed in ‘Why James Madison was too legit to quit: a memoir'”

Hahahaha!! I was wondering about your blog post…I kept refreshing in case the last part wasn’t loading and then I was like, “well, maybe she is so serious about her IT bands that she decided to end it there.” LOL I have definitely fallen asleep before when working on a project so no judgment :) We are getting some WARM weather in western PA (finally!!) this week and I can’t wait to get some more running and playing outside in :-D

Easy runs are never easy for me. I always go too fast.

Spring in Utah is so beautiful! I miss it, but not the winters :) Brooke is so precious!! Love those purple shoes!!!

I think if I lived in Utah I would never want to be inside. Those mountains are just too beautiful for words!

It’s finally starting to warm up and get sunny here in NYC. I have a 1/2 marathon on Saturday and it’s supposed to be gorgeous out. Fingers crossed!

I love that Brooke understands the importance of a good game face. She’s got the mental training down pat already!

That’s interesting about the bone development. I never would have guessed that easy running helps that but I guess it makes sense. We had a beautiful day this morning as well.

I’ve fallen asleep mid blog post several times as well. Ha ha…

Brooke seems to have her running on point! Good for her! I love that she is so willing to hand off her knowledge of the eyes. I never really knew how to get the look quite right!
I loved reading Hansons and all the little things you learn about different parts of running. :)

BROOKE! Ahh so adorable.

I am in love with the transitional seasons: spring and fall! I need to do that stretch today several times! I love soccer games with little kids playing! So much more entertaining than the pros?

The mountains in Utah are so beautiful! We drove through last month when we were on our way to Colorado and I was just in awe the whole time! I have published a half post before…I got distracted walked away, and then it went live the next day. Whoops! ( :

Okay I’m definitely trying that IT band stretch today, my legs have been dying for a good stretch like that! Have a fabulous day!

The mountains <3 SO jealous!

Also, the video of Brooke is the cutest! She melts me!

That stretch is yoga shoelace, right? One of my favorites too! Fire log is also good…

Reply

That stretch is so hard! I can’t even get my legs to stack that well. LOL

Falling asleep while at the computer has happened to me several times. So many school papers I swore I finished but when I went to print it out, had to finish in a panic because I was wrong.

hi – fyi/what i’ve learned with the tight IT band. Rather than stretching, b/c the IT is a tendon, it seems to work better (for me) to get a deep tissue massage into the hips and also foam roll on my own or roll over a baseball into my hips. The pain is usually in my knee but it’s often due to the tendon being tight from the hip. My massage therapist always warns against overstretching – it feels SOOO good but can sometimes cause more harm.

Haha I can totally relate to falling asleep when working! Spring in Utah County really is amazing! We went to the BYU Baseball game yesterday and the weather was perfection. :) And oh my goodness I love her shoes. Do you know where she got them?!

Brooke should compile her running advice into a book. I feel we could all benefit from her wisdom.

That casserole looks awesome! I’ve been looking for more quinoa recipes.
