Well, it sure is super fun to be needing hand warmers again on a run;)
Speaking of underdressing (yesterday), I definitely did so this morning and my legs were completely frozen (I’ve been running on the treadmill so much lately that 30 degree weather is out of my comfort zone). I always tell myself that I finally learned my lesson and I will wear running tights when I know that it is going to be cold but I forget life lessons in approximately 24 hours so yeah… it will just keep happening.
That was a struggle. There were probably 4 minutes out of the 39 minutes where I wasn’t dreaming about quitting. 1 mile warm-up, 6 miles @ 6:34 average and then a 2 mile cool-down. While tempos are supposed to feel comfortably-hard, this felt hard-hard. It could be because transferring out to the roads from the treadmill is rough, the cold, I was a wuss today;) or running is just hard sometimes BUT I do love seeing how tempo paces feel easier over the course of a training cycle so that is exciting.
Today’s favorite stretch. My sister watched Brooke during my run (sister of the year) and then I met up with her after to stretch and get some strength in for a few minutes.
I told Brooke this morning before my run that I had a speedy run to get done and she put a good luck sticker on my shorts and shirt… I think I will have her do this for race day too.
Because it is too cold for Brooke to play at the park we went to Chic-Fil-A instead so she could get her running around in too. I love their superfood salad with my sandwich. I crave that little box of goodness (I need to buy the dressing to have at home).
Some Thursday Things:
-Brooks is hosting their own Brooks Emoji Madness to figure out runners’ favorite emoji choices until they get to one final winner. They’ll then ask the emoji makers to create whichever running emoji makes it through the final bracket. Vote on Brooks Twitter this Saturday on which one you love most!!!! (Also, tell me today in the comments because I think my fave has to be the breaking tape and I want to know your favorite).
-I gave Brooke these ‘special’ rocks months ago and she hasn’t lost them yet (she takes them a lot of places so this is especially surprising). Whenever my mom has something important for me she jokes (well, I think it is a joke) that she should put it in Brooke’s purse instead of mine because I lose everything and Brooke is quite responsible.
-Nothing makes me want to buy candy more than the holiday themed versions. I don’t know how I walked by this without bringing it home but I am now having non-buyers remorse.
-I don’t have a caption for this but I like the picture.
-Brooke’s room is all done (except for a picture above her bed that we are waiting on) and it makes me very happy. PS She looks like a little peanut whenever she sleeps in this bed.
Which runner emoji is your favorite?
How’d your run feel today? Was it a rough one or one of those magical runs?
Have any fun Thursday night plans?
