Silentish Saturday!

Just a normal Friday in our hood plus a walk together after my workout… this weather has filled my soul.

I put a box in Brooke’s room, took a shower and then found her packing.  She told me that this is all she needs for our new home.

The rug search is still on…

Another Costco bag of sweet potatoes eaten solely by myself hits the dust.

While we were driving by Thanksgiving Point on the freeway Brooke asked if we could go on a date there… so we did just that.

Somebody had a princess tea party to attend:

Monopoly Deal was quite intense.

Somebody is going through quite the growth spurt right now and sleeping more than usual but I’m okay with it because it means I get more snuggling.

My Friday night date.

I am getting ready to paint the entire first floor of my house this weekend. Exciting stuff!

Dry shampoo just doesn’t seem to work for me :-(

I’m about to go get blood drawn, if that’s not how to start off the weekend, I don’t know what is! The rest of the day is just my usual Saturday catch up stuff. It is my day to sleep in and then catch up on everything that I haven had time for the rest of the week.

Weather here has been so nice too! Can’t go wrong with spring weather!

I used to use dry shampoo a lot, then I ran out and haven’t bought more in months. Bad life decision because now I have to wash my hair more often. I should go get some dry shampoo today.

Not much planned for today. Running and laundry are on the agenda. Exciting stuff!

OMG that donut picture is ridiculously fun! I can’t imagine that one my body. I used to do dry shampoo a lot but got out of the habits. Sometimes I like doing it in the summer though when it 100+ degrees in Arizona.

Starting to use my dry shampoo more, it’s an old can I am thinking it’s time for a new one. What one do you use?

Reply

HEY!! I just use the L’OREAL Everstyle one! It is cheap and at Target:) I hope you like it too!

Reply

Thanks! May try it out. I was tempted to buy the recommended high dollar type at the hair salon but just couldn’t. Glad to see others are happy with the drugstore varieties!

Herbal Essence’s dry shampoo is good, too. It doesn’t really leave any residue. I can get three days between washes with it.

Thanks! !

Our Saturday plans are going to mostly be playing outside I think. My husband has Saturday plans to play the ward ball tournament all day today. And I might make some donuts I found a recipe for, but we will see.

A doughnut mask sounds nice now that I’m done with my long run!

Saturday was a muggy cloudy day with an early morning long run, then Netflix, chicken salad for lunch, then a birthday with Thai food and chocolate cake.

The only negative of my long run this morning was after gaining a few healthy kilos I had inner thigh chafe for the first time ever ARGH. What is this!! Think I need to buy some compression shorts tomorrow and maybe some body glide?

Reply

Ugh, I hear you on this one. Last year I dealt with this and it is so uncomfortable to the point I wanted to cut my runs short. I haven’t noticed it yet this year because it’s still full-on winter so I wear tights. I found getting good pairs of shorts last year helped me a lot. I hate to plug Oiselle because I’m not a fan of all of their stuff, but their Distance and Lori shorts saved the day and allowed me to run long runs with no chafing. Prior to that I wore Nikes and they burned bad.

Reply

Thank you so much for these tips and glad to hear I’m not the only one. I thought it might be the weather as well because it’s been super warm and humid here. New shorts it is!!

Reply

Oh the heat and humidity will do it for sure! Good luck. Compression shorts will help too. It was hard for me to get used to after never experiencing it before but trying to just deal with it versus worrying about my non-gap-thighs.

Hahaha that donut picture made me laugh out loud. I’m going bridesmaid dress shopping for my friend’s wedding today!

saturday=cleaning and grocery shopping day. plus it’s date night, which I can’t complain about. I just wish the weekend lasted longer haha. I need at least 3 days to accomplish all I want to!

And I just can’t figure dry shampoo out. I have pretty fine hair so even going one day without washing my hair is an oily hot mess. I’ve tried like five different brands to no avail. helppp.

I love dry shampoo and use it likes it is going out of style! I am headed to a body pump class now then hopefully going on our boat today because it is so warm out!

Reply

Ah! That donut picture…party hard. My Saturday will be filled with errand running, coffee dates with the hubby, and hopefully a hike if the weather cooperates!

My dogs LOVE sweet potato. You may have to start sharing one you adopt your fur baby!
My Saturday is going to start with a run with my favorite running friends, then time spent with my three teenagers. :)

Reply

My husband and I buy those large bags of sweet potatoes at Costco too! They go quickly in our household.

Today I am running a 10K race at 10am. Such a late start for a race – I don’t know what to do with myself this morning. :) The good news… it’s raining right now but supposed to clear up by start time! Woot!

Reply

Going to work out and run errands.

I used to use dry shampoo a lot but I feel like I can smell it all the time. Now I just try to style it thoroughly with products on the day I wash.

We finally have some rain in CA!

I am not a dry shampoo person but I have a bottle! The girl who does my hair said to actually use the dry shampoo right after blowing out your hair. She said that is the best time to apply it as it will help absorb the oils that happen in the days that follow. Good to know, right?

Reply

hahah that picture about dried shampoo is great! I have actually never used it, instead I just throw my hair up in a bun. #lazy but i need to try it out sometime!

Reply

Finding a rug is seriously the hardest thing! I have been looking for months and still can’t pick one out. :( Good luck! I am most definitely a dry shampoo user and I couldn’t agree more with that statement haha!!! Tonight my hubby and I are going on a date night so I am excited! :)

Reply

Love Curly’s princess hair! Kids have the most gorgeous hair… Healthy, clean, natural highlights, clean… ;)

Reply

Haha I def use more dry shampoo on Friday! It is usually hair day 3:) How long can you go without washing?

Reply

Hahahaha love you “weekend plans” picture!! hahaha! Well when i started dying my hair red – which I LOVE – i decided that i couldn’t wash my hair after every workout aka everyday cause that would mean goodbye colour! And bought my first dry shampoo. I used it once it was ok and then stored it in my bathroom drawer, unfortunatelly on its side :( and now its not working any more …. So i have to get a new one…silly me

Reply

Hahah I don’t think I could live without dry shampoo! My hair starts out so clean…and then by Friday it truly is about 90-99% dry shampoo haha

11 miler with teammates this morning. Laundry and baking for a party tomorrow. I think my husband needs to buy me pizza for dinner tonight.

Curly hair and dry shampoo don’t go well together. I only wash my hair every 3 days, if it needs it I rinse or condition it in between.

I had growing pains at12. I ached and slept a lot. Growing is hard work!

Reply

I used to never use dry shampoo and wash my hair everyday cause it would be so greasy after a run. Now I’m a convert, I wash my hair maybe 3x a week and use dry shampoo the other days. I think it really helps to keep my hair from getting too dried out, which I’ve noticed as a problem the older I get. I keep experimenting with different brands though, I’m still waiting to find the holy grail of products!

11 trail miles this morning and a giant pile of dishes this afternoon.

I have only tried dry shampoo a couple of times, but it just made my hair feel gross so I haven’t tried it recently.

Reply

I haven’t used dry shampoo but I need to!! My Saturday is filled with beach time as it is my last day of vacation!!

Reply

I love sweet potato, but I don’t eat them but maybe once a year because I always think they are fattening and way too much sugar. So what is the scoop on them…are they really ok to eat and are they healthy? I love your little girl’s packing…just a minimalist :-)

Reply

I’ve never tried dry shampoo but Nina commented that it doesn’t go well with curly hair and I have curly hair. I slept in today and am about to go for a run, it’s warm out but crazy windy!

Loved the donut ‘spa’ picture :)

Reply

Janae, where do you buy Brooke’s clothes? They are always adorable!

Reply

I don’t use dry shampoo. I have super curly hair and hardly use regular shampoo either. But I use more conditioner than anyone. I buy the value size.
Ran 8 trail miles today and tomorrow I’m going snow tubing/skiing.
Winter weekends are almost over so I’m hoping to enjoy one last snowy hurrah!

My Saturday is filled with running (my first long run in like three weeks! Happy that all my injuries are gone right now…) and equally beautiful spring weather! Just about to go outside and enjoy it.

Dry shampoo? What? Ew? Is that a thing women do?

Reply

I just hit a rug from overstock. So obsessed with it!

OH MY GOODNESS… my sister sent me this link just today! I might be copying you:) LOVE IT!

My Saturday has been filled with being productive. Grocery shopping, 6 mile run, and making chili in the crock pot and baked spaghetti squash so I can finish my other meal prep recipe tomorrow.

I am not a dry shampoo user – then again I have super short hair so it is super easy to not need to! I probably would if I had longer hair!

I wanted to love dry shampoo, but I bought a cheap-y spray one from Walmart, maybe the actual powder I would like better. But, I’m giving this a shot instead, I just ordered a shampoo bar this week and am going to try that. Its made with neem oil and coconut oil, tree tea oil with some other essential oils. I already swear by washing with apple cider vinegar and water every now and then, it does wonders for your hair by taking out all the product buildup without stripping it, apple cider vinegar is actually considered a conditioner. I’m hoping I fall in love with this!

I do use dry shampoo, and I’ve tried so many brands at this point but haven’t found one that’s really great just yet. However, there’s always at least one morning during the work week when I opt for sleep over doing my hair, and it’s dry shampoo to the rescue!

Ran the Albany marathon in 3:38:01 which is 7 minutes faster than my Boston qualifying time! Woohoo! After missing this year’s final cutoff by 10 seconds after registration, my one goal was to qualify with priority registration. Mission accomplished! The course felt like one big long gradual incline so I was hoping for closer to a 3:34- 3:35, but all those hills caught up to me by 21 miles. Happy with the effort, though! After being endurance focused and running marathons for the last 3 years, I am now excited to take a break and focus on shorter distances like you! And I am quite excited about that! Next marathon will be April 2017 in Boston!!!

I love Klorane dry shampoo. The new Aveda one is also divine but super spendy.
I love the lip colour you’re wearing in the picture where you’re snuggling with Brooke. What is it?
