On self-care and slowing down a little bit.. w/The Honest Company

2015 was kind of an eye opening year for me which helped me to choose my theme for this year.

IMG 6119(

Keeping myself busy all of the time has been one of my coping strategies when tough stuff happens.  That first year (ehhhh two years) after filing for divorce I booked up every minute of our lives.  Most days started early (we would meet at 5 a.m. each morning) with friends for a run.  The afternoon was jam packed with all sorts of activities for Brooke and I ended each day with late nights on dates/out with friends/froyo with my mom and then working whatever hours I possibly could (I know it doesn’t seem like it but I work about 30 hours a week:) in between or when I should have been asleep.  It was how I dealt with my divorce without actually dealing with it.  The busier I was, the less I thought about the pain I was going through.  AKA running away from my problems—>  I have mastered this.  And then this last year I think my body finally told me enough is enough and my GI system went nuts.  I had some anxiety issues spring up during this time too and my sleeping was really off.

After every time I ate (even if it was just something tiny…) my stomach would kill (ulcer) and then I would bloat out super painfully.  I realized that I really couldn’t keep living the way I had been and that I needed to focus in on taking care of myself and slowing down a bit.  It was my aha moment that our brains and bodies are ridiculously connected.  The stress/anxiety/never slowing down takes a huge toll on us physically.  When we aren’t mentally in a good place I think it can be seen through our physical health at times.

More skin than I will ever show on my blog normally ha but I couldn’t even suck in if I wanted too… my stomach felt like it was going to explode pretty much all day long.

IMG 9821

I wanted to share a few of the things I have been trying to do over the last few months to try and slow down (<—doctors orders) and take care of myself a bit more.  I still love to be out and about doing things with Brooke and seeing the people we love but there are a whole lot more nights at home with Brooke on the living room floor and books read in bed instead of being out busy constantly.

I think a lot of us runners are kind of Type A Perfectionists a bit and so deciding to allow myself to let go more of the things that I cannot control has been the focus of this year so far.  I think I told you about this already but one of my goals each day has been to meditate/study church materials each morning before Brooke wakes up.  I love these two quotes—>  1- Meditation: because some questions can’t be answered by Google.  2- You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day unless you’re too busy. Then you should sit for an hour.

Music has a huge effect on me.  A fast song with lyrics that pump me up can help me to get a personal record when my body is ready to quit during a race.  I can’t tell you how many times I have cried over different song lyrics that touch me or bring back certain memories (oh goodness… one time my wedding song came on the radio a few months after my divorce and I had to pull over the car because the song hit me so hard).  Music can also completely relax me within just the first minute of certain songs.  Each song on this list relaxes me for different reasons… memories/lyrics/slow beat… these songs are strangely really special to me.  They help me to slow down when I really need it.

A bubble bath (with or without some chocolate;) can work wonders for me these days.  It helps me to just slow down, sit still (hard for me to do), think, feel, pray… whatever I need.  Taking a second to just relax each day has been a game changer for my sleep/gut/anxiety issues.

Brooke is a huge bath lover (she would stay in there for an hour if she could) and she smells like heaven after using the Ultra Calming-dreamy lavender bubble bath and lavender shampoo/body wash.  It is the best way to calm her down for bedtime.

IMG 6128

About the above picture with our go to for the good stuff——>  The Honest Company has updated their Bath & Body products and I have been loving their new scents (4 total)!!  They also added a pump dispenser (which makes bath time for Brooke/washing my hair easier and they increased the size from 8.5 oz to 10 oz (same price… an even better value now!!!).  Brooke knows when our box comes in the mail that I am going to be in a good mood;)

IMG 6106

I am a huge believer that scents affect the way we feel big time and I am loving the Ultra Calming to help me to slow down.  The new scents come in the shampoo/body wash, conditioner, bubble bath and lotion except for purely simple (this one is scent free and it comes in the lotion).

IMG 6112

Their lotion is bomb (UTAH IS DRY!!!!) and the lavender scent keeps me feeling more relaxed throughout the day.  Their Deeply Nourishing lotion (apricot kiss scent) is especially good for dry skin too.

IMG 6110

The Honest Company is all about making products that are effective, safe, accessible and responsible… their goal is to help people to live a healthy and happy life.  That is why I love sharing it with my people too and giving it as gifts to the people I love the most.   I love The Honest Company products to help me and my peeps to take care of ourselves, to slow down and to smell delicious (the sweet orange vanilla is my second favorite after dreamy lavender).  PS that is my cute niece in the background…  I swear she and Brooke look more and more alike.

IMG 6116

Self-care really is one of the most important things we can do to manage stress but it is usually the first thing to be neglected during stressful times.   Life is crazy busy for every human and we can fill up every single second of our days with even very important people and things… but I am learning that in order to take care of others we have to take care of ourselves first.  I love it when people start to run and stick with it because it is something we can do each day to take care of ourselves, to destress and let go of some anxiety.  It is weird how running helps me to feel like I am slowing down in life—> it helps me to feel present, alive and it gives me time to think clearly.  Along with exercise, just adding in simple things each day to continue to take care of ourselves can make the biggest difference in our mental and physical health.   We only have one body and we all want to keep running until we are 101 right so let’s try to set aside time to slow down and do the things we need to to take care of ourselves.

I’m glad to hear you have taken some time for yourself Janae. I cannot imagine everything you went through. I think I round be the same way of wanting to fill my schedule as much as possible. When my husband is away, I try to keep busy too. When I get stressed, I don’t sleep well and am constantly exhausted so I know where you are coming from there.

Reply

De-stressing is really the hardest thing for me to do and I definitely struggle with anxiety more often than not. I do wind up feeling it affect my sleep, stomach, and it just exhausts me if it gets out of control! Sort of a lifetime project.

I like to sit and read (sometimes in a bubble bath) when I need to slow down. We’ve been building a house and there are so many little decisions everyday that some days I just need to have quiet time to recharge. Between building a house, living with my parents, marathon training, my normal job and everyday stuff that comes up, its alot. I have had to focus more and more on taking care of myself, its just so important! Since we started building the house, I’ve had two colds (I don’t remember that last time I had one, its been years) and three cold sores (which I get when i’m stressed). I also will find myself getting more snappy with people when I am stressed too, which I hate! Any way you can take care of yourself, DO IT!

I totally can relate to the running around in nine million directions at once. A few years ago I learned how to crochet. I love hanging out on the couch at night and watching a tv show or movie and getting to crochet some rows on whatever my current project is. I find the repetition and rhythm of the stitches super relaxing and even meditative. Plus as an added bonus you get to make some pretty sweet stuff (blanks, scarves, hats, socks, mittens, etc…)

I also ride horse and riding horse is the best stress reliever other than running that I have found. When you are on the back of a horse all you can think about is being present in that moment because if you get distracted or think about other things you will likely fall off haha. Plus I think animals are very therapeutic.

One of my favorite relaxing songs is Teardrops on My Guitar by Taylor Swift. It’s kind of sad, but I could listen to it all of the time and feel calm and peaceful.

Stress really takes a toll on me, and I’ve had to try to find ways to get rid of anxieties. It’s definitely tough. Running always helps, but I also enjoy a good bubble bath every once in a while. And massages. I have to have those.

So needed this reminder today. Had quite the meltdown yesterday with the trillion things I get myself involved in. Exercising is a huge stress reliever for me. I’m learning that the days that I don’t exercise, and lately it’s mostly just even been 20 minutes of yoga, I am much much much more anxious and my stomach tells me so. Slowing down is hard to do, but so important sometimes. The balance is hard but vital. Thanks for this reminder!

Thank you for the meditation quotes — I love those! A good massage is the ultimate relaxation for me. Outside of that, I like to color, listen to music, and read. If I’m in the middle of something and find myself getting tense, I stop and just breath deep. I might say to myself, “Breath in peace; breath out stress” or “Breath in courage; breath out fear;” whatever is applicable to the moment.

I recently made a playlist on my phone called “chill” and it’s all my relaxing music. I also love listening to Ludovico Einaudi station on Pandora..beautiful piano music that is so relaxing and puts me in a better mood. I actually leave it on for my dog when we leave to soothe her! I’m a huge believer in the power of music so I love that you included that :)

Reply

Last year I had an ulcer too (from stress) so I’m all about self-care and relaxation. I don’t have a tub for bubble baths but massages, meditation and yoga are my go-methods for de-stressing.

Reply

I’ve been focusing on getting to bed early this year. I know every aspect of my life suffers if I don’t get enough sleep. I wake up at 5am everyday so that means I’m usually in bed by 9:30pm. Last night it was 8pm though! Sometimes you just need to listen to your body and rest!

Reply

I love bubble baths!! And that notebook!

Reply

I have several different playlists. One for almost every mood. I know that stress gets to me but a few years ago I had to start to look out for me and my kids. Before my divorce I knew I was going to have to be the best me possible. And started to learn to handle my stressors differently. :)

Reply

I listen to the coffee house station on Sirius. It’s non stop acoustic singer songwriter stuff that calms me down and makes me happy.
Stress makes me gain weight and I usually start to shut down and sleep too much. Avoidance I guess. My heart races from it too.

Reply

I love spending time outside to relax. My husband and I hike in the mountains most weekends and being outside just puts everything in perspective. Plus the fresh air is so beneficial for relieving stress!

Reply

I feel like just reading this post had a calming effect on me. I have recently been experiencing some physical symptoms that I think are stress-related as well, and I really enjoyed reading this. It is definitely in a runner’s nature to press on through obstacles, but sometimes that is the exact opposite of what we need. :)

Reply

This is a great reminder that we need to take care of ourselves. I’m the worst about relaxing. I feel like I always need to be doing something. Then I get overwhelmed and mindlessly stare at Facebook for 20 minutes, which isn’t relaxing either.
When I take the time to slow down, I like to read. Reading is one of my favorite things but I don’t make the time for it enough. When I’m able to sit down with a good book for an hour or so, I feel so much better after.
Let Her Go by Passenger is one of my favorite relaxing songs.

Reply

Great post, Janae!

Love love love Eet by Regina Spektor and anything by Ingrid Michaelson. So beautiful and very soothing voices.

Running is a way I relax sometimes, other times it is just watching mind-numbing TV like Keeping Up with the Kardashians (UGH hate to love it).

Reply

Okay, Eet might be one of my all-time favorite songs on the planet!!! I hear ya on the mind-numbing TV too ha. Hope you are having a great night Mallory!

I’m glad to hear you’ve made self care a priority and I agree, its usually the first to go when things get crazy when we really need to do more of it! I experience stress and anxiety in my body for sure- tension, poor sleep, stomach issues. Not good. Running is my self care as well as relaxing with my husband and dog. Snuggling is a great de-stressor :-). I love Chris Tomlin’s, Good Good Father for a meditative/calming song and I love to listen to Christian music on the way to work. Great reminder for the day too!

Reply

Self care during and after divorce is ESSENTIAL! I have been through 2 divorces and the best thing I ever did after each of them was take time for myself and SLOW DOWN! Keep focusing on that and of course your little girl and you will be fine!

Reply

Great post and taking care of yourself is the best priority!! When I’m extremely stressed, I will lose my appetite and anything I eat will cause cramps/stomachache. Also, I tend to eat poorly and my face breaks out. My favorite way to relax is cutting off all screen time, drinking tea and reading a book. I have found that I tend to relax and sleep better when I read a book instead of checking social media before bed! Also..lavender is awesome as far as lotions, candles, anything!!

Reply

This is something that has been a big challenge for me, especially since I started high school. When I’m stressed out or don’t feel in control of things, I have crazy stress dreams, and then a lack of sleep, then I get super cranky because I’m still mad about whatever happened in my dream. Depressed because I’m not taking care of myself…the list goes on because when you don’t take care of yourself it snowballs. I try to workout at least 5 times a week to help me manage. Also taking baths or spin small things for myself throughout the day (although that can be hard with little ones at home) those things help me put all the stress in perspective and calm down.

Reply

I love all of the points you made! I feel like taking care of ourselves often gets overlooked but it really is the most important thing. I saw a quote once about how our lives are like a cup and we can’t serve others if our cup is empty. I love listening to Explosions in the Sky to relax! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fallen alseep while listening to them :) haha

Reply

I love your relaxation mix! I’m a huge fan of Sara Bareilles. I also love Emeli Sande for quiet songs.

I had some pretty serious job-related anxiety issues for a while, but for me yoga has helped a ton.

Reply

Thank you for your post- taking care of yourself is so important! If I am stressed, I don’t sleep, and that is the worst thing for me. If I am sleep deprived, I am a different, difficult person. You mix of songs is great too!

Reply

Yoga truly is the best way for me to relax and take care of myself!!

Reply

GREAT REMINDER!!! Time to get back into yoga. Thank you Maggie!

Reply

It is amazing how our body always knows best. It will bring us back down to reality when we need it most and that is an awesome thing. I have struggled with my own stress-related illness so I know first hand what it’s like to be forced to slow down and how eye opening it can be.

Self care is so important and so often overlooked. Thanks for sharing all of this!!

Oh my gosh – THANK YOU for this review!! I’ve been trying to focus more on self-care this year as well and do love a good bubble bath. I have crazy allergic reactions to SLS (sulfate used to make products foamy/sudsy) and I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I have enjoyed a nice long soak. I didn’t know the Honest Company had recently re-formulated its products because they used to use SLS…ahhhh I’m beyond excited. thanks HRG :)

My favorite song of late that would be great for you is Divine Sorrows by Wyclef Jean and Avicii- it’s positive, relaxing, and inspiring :)

Reply

Just found the song on Youtube and listened to it… THANK YOU for the recommendation! I’m in love with it!

I’ve blogged repeatedly on radical self care. Women especially are so busy taking care of everyone else that we forget about ourselves. Recharging definitely makes me better able to care for others.

Stress keeps me up at night, messes with my skin and eating. I also get colds and respiratory infections when I’m stressed.

Running and exercise help. When I need quiet time I like yoga, reading, baths and classical music. I also like massage, I sleep better after one.

Reply

OK, Off topic. I (and others maybe) would be interested in what the business side of your blog is? You said 30 hrs a week. What goes into that? I’m just really curious. It sounds like I’m being edgy or critical but I just really am curious about how you get sponsors and stuff and balance the work with the play. (I slave for the MAN, lol).

Also, although I know this is a foregone conclusion, getting a puppy might not be the best means to reduce your stress/workload. Just sayin…

Reply

Hey Clark! Great question and I will write a more in depth post on this soon! Some of the things that goes into the 30 hours each week—> writing posts, emails (loads of them:), working with sponsors, conference calls/google hangout with sponsors, currently redesigning my site, freelance work (i.e. I write for Women’s Running), replying to comments, Facebook interactions, Instagram (trying to do more there:) and other random things that depend on the week! Start a blog Clark:) HAHAH yes on the workload but animals help me to relax!

Reply

Also, I work all 7 days a week so it ends up being about 4-4.5 hours a day (more on Monday/less on Sunday). So definitely not a classic 9-5 job in the slightest ha!

Reply

I am learning this lesson too… and have learned that booking yourself to be 100% busy all the time only makes the pain that much worse when you finally have to slow down and admit what is going on.

Reply

I have terrible chronic back pain and when I am stressed, it is so much worse. I love to make time to exercise, which really helps me de-stress. I love waking up a little earlier each day to have some quiet time by myself before the day starts.

Reply

In hindsight, I truly believe my current injury is due to unmanaged stress. Although it is the worst thing for my love of running, this injury has been a hidden blessing for my marriage, and mental health growth.

Reply

It is the best thing yo could do. I had the exact same strategy when i had my divorce and after a year and half I was an alone workaholic nealry depressed… Taking care of yourself is the most important thing!!

Reply

I take long (like at LEAST an hour) bubble baths. Longer if really stressed.
I have to be careful with stress, it’s one of my migraine triggers and nothing adds to that “I have so much to do I’m freaking out” feeling like a blinding headache that keeps you from doing anything well.

Reply

I did a lot of baking during my divorce. Somehow it calmed me. And I made up some great recipes back then too!

Reply

Slowing down is hard. Awesome you are learning how to slow down and manage stress.

I love this quote: You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day unless you’re too busy. Then you should sit for an hour.

That’s a good reminder to me.

Reply

I loved this post, Janae :) So much of what you said rings true for me. When I got to the relaxing playlist, I didn’t even finish reading your post, I immediately went to my spotify and created an identical playlist! Love it.

Lavender will forever and ever be my go-to scent. I haven’t tried Honest Co. yet, but I think I may have to give them a whirl based on your recommendations. Have a beautiful day :)

Reply

I love this post, it’s so important to give ourselves time to decompress. Running is the best time for me to do that. It really is amazing how much it relaxes me and helps me to process challenges and issues. I also love to veg out with trashy TV shows-“Real Housewives of Anywhere” is my go to. I love these recommendations for the the Honest Co and your thoughts about meditation. Anything by Enya helps me feel calm and centered.

Reply

Love this post!! It’s so true how we forget to care for ourselves with the stress of life sometimes. I enjoy listening to classical music when I’m stressed or needing some down time. I like it because it still allows me to think and process because it’s soothing and doesn’t have lyrics to try to comprehend.

Reply

Great post, Janae! Self care is so necessary, very underrated and almost even frowned upon! I make exercise a priority everyday, whether it is running or yoga because it is my time to myself, time to de-stress, unplug, and free my mind while doing something positive for my body. You would not believe, though, how many people say to me “wow! I wish I had the luxury of having that kind of time!” I’m no different / less busy than anyone…I just make it a priority.

Stress usually gives me GI issues…but it’s more manageable now that I take a daily probiotic and (thanks to you) have discovered Kevita drinks!!!

I went through some rough years and I can totally relate to keeping myself occupied. (And to crying in the car!!!!)
The less time I had to think, the better. But now I love stillness and quiet. And I find now that I can really enjoythe time I have to spend with others.

Love Honest Company products! Have you tried Dolly Moo? Their oils and body scrubs are incredible!!!!

Reply

Have you tried yoga??? It’s truly the only hour in the day when I can shut my brain off. And it’s great for runners (stretching those muscles), not to mention it’s a great workout.

Reply

Totally agree! Perfect compliment to running. I practice hot vinyasa style, which is more rigorous…but there are so many different styles. It feels so great to lose yourself on your mat, just breathe, and forget the world exists… for that hour, anyway.

Reply

Taking time to take care of ourselves is incredibly important. I tell my clients this almost every day, and I don’t always take my own advice. I too, am really good at running away from problems, rather than confronting them when I should. I’m getting better at it, but it takes work. And while I work on that, I have to remember to take care of myself in relaxing ways, just like you are suggesting. Running actually isn’t always the answer for me, sometimes I need books, hot chocolate and songs. With a nice comfy blanket.
Keep taking care of your mind, body and spirit:) Great post.

Reply

I can get super stressed out too. It’s not fun. Yoga really helps me. And taking a hot shower. Love the Honest Company!!

Stress has had a huge impact over the years. Our bodies are delicate and for a long time I neglected the signs that my body was affected. I was grumpy, wired, tired (but couldn’t sleep without waking up early and having night sweats!), lost heaps of weight, and lost my period. I am trying to learn long term methods to keep my stress levels down all the time now because hey…life is stressful.

Running is a stress relief, but so are rest days! Eating nourishing foods throughout the day to keep my blood sugar in check. Staying hydrated with lots of water is an important part of self care. Shopping!…being comfortable in nice clothes is important to me. And being outside – I need fresh air to keep me feeling good. And of course reading blogs. Connecting with other like minded women has been awesome for me – to share experiences and stories.

Reply

Thanks Janae. This is a very honest and applicable post – and very timely for me. I was going to impulsively sign up for a local marathon on Sunday. I probably could finish it, but I haven’t really tapered at all, and so it would probably be quite rough on my body. Well, lo and behold, my right Achilles started hurting over the past couple days, and so I’m taking it as a sign that no, in order to take care of myself, I should not run this marathon. It’s disappointing, but I know there will be others!

Reply

Self care is such a must, but sometimes hard to justify. I wrote about this a few weeks ago. Those products look fun. Brooke’s bun is on fleek in that pic! so cute!

Reply

I am terrible at taking care of myself. I can’t remember the last time I took a bubble bath. Lately listening to anything Enya really helps me relax. I also try to go to yoga twice a week (this is hard now that I have a 2 month old). I am working on taking more time for myself but it is difficult to stop thinking about other things and just be in that moment.

Reply

I relax listening to Lowercase Noises, slow meadow, Hammock and endless melancholy! Just don’t listen while at work it you expect to be productive =).

Reply

I couldn’t agree more with the things you’ve said! It is so important to take care of ourselves, and as a mom I know that sometimes I don’t take as good care of myself as I should. As for honest products, I love them!!!

Reply

Thanks for being so honest… This is a topic that is not easy to talk about, even though, as you can tell, there is a whole lot of us in the same boat. You’re so right about Type A personalities. I spend so much time trying to control everything (and I have a hard time giving other people more control…). It plays a big role with stress and mental-physical exhaustion. I have no magical solution, but I try to let go of one little thing at a time… and most of the time I realize that letting go helps more than it hurts ;-)

I LOVE T-Swifts song Clean!! soo good!

Also, anxiety and stress usually wreck my immune system and I get sick :(

I destress every morning with a cup of coffee and journaling. Having a consistent and calming morning routine starts my day out right :)

Reply

I am currently loving Unsteady by X Ambassadors, the entire new Sia album, and the Midnight album by Grace Potter. Most of them aren’t slow songs per say but always put me in a good mood/make me feel better.

I usually do some sort of workout to distress and have some “me” time. Found out earlier today I have a stress fracture in my tibia. Lots of ellipticals and bikes in my future for the next four to six weeks! I didn’t anticipate spending my 30th birthday “resting” but I’m trying to use it as additional motivation to come back strong.

Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Reply

It’s so great to hear how you’re slowing things down. I have a lot of similar issues, mostly from work stress combined with (you nailed it), type A personality. I feel like such a failure if I don’t cook dinner, do well at work, exercise and prep everything for the next day. Working out is my meditation, for the most part, but honestly, blogging has become a close second. And reading. Sometimes I just need to get out of my head. Thanks for sharing so much, you’re helping a lot more people than you think! Xo.

Sounds like 2015 had its ups and downs. :( I definitely feel the effects when I’m on the go 24/7 or am super stressed out from work. It’s times like those where I like to curl up in my bed under a soft blanket with a cup of tea and a good book. :) Those lotions and shower gels sound wonderful, I will have to check that company out! Thanks for sharing :)

I love Enya. Her music is so relaxing! I love taking a bubble bath, hair up, Enya going and lights off. I can’t remember the last time this happened (at least 5 years now), but I still love it!

I love this post. Such a good reminder (and I have been wondering about Honest Company products!).
Favorite relaxing album is Port Blue (and older Owl City project)- it just sounds like I am meditating by the ocean. It is amazing.

I tend to tense my muscles at any, even slightly, stressful situation so I typically have very tight shoulders. I’ve been going to a chiropractor for unrelated, ongoing back pain. While I was there today I realized that other than my run it was my only hour away from my phone and work email. Reality check.

Wow. So my stomach does that ALL the time and I always have trouble…wonder if it’s primarily stress or something more :( Great post Janae x

Ugh! Stress…

I can see it on my face when I get stressed. I tend to get blotchy, and I’ll breakout. I like to relax and zone-out with music. My Florence & the Machine Pandora station is my current fave. I just sing and dance and it makes everything better in the world.

Thank you for this post- it’s often hard to remember to take some time for yourself!

Janae,
I find it bizarre (well, meant to be) that you posted about this topic. Recently (about two weeks now) my Crohn’s disease has been flaring like no other. It’s been awful, I can barely walk without having to dash to the bathroom. I am losing weight like crazy and I have still been trying to keep up with my running (which is about 8 miles-ish every day ) & weight lifting. (CRAZY!) My doctor called me yesterday to give me the results of my colonoscopy that I had Monday & it was NOT good. She told me how unhealthy I am right now- and NOT ok. It’s a really bad flare, and my body is screaming for a break. (her words) My iron levels are all off, my stomach can’t keep anything down, it’s just bad. But you know what, it will get better, I just have to be smart this time and make my health the number one priority. (Instead of HAVING to get my run in- even if I have to take 10 breaks while running to go to the bathroom- insane!) But this all kind of hit me when you wrote about meditating. My doctor has sworn by meditation for me. She said it is going to be REALLY hard for me, being a cardio queen ;) I also need to get back to my daily morning devotion- amazing what that does! Always starts the day on the right foot :) I guess I just want to say thank you for writing this- and I think this is another sign from the Big Guy upstairs that I need to take a minute and let my body heal.

Reply

Have you ever considered cutting out dairy or gluten or both? My stomach does what yours does when I have either of those things. Maybe try it for a couple of weeks to see? It was life changing for me, and it also made me feel less anxious.

Reply

Love this post! Thank you for sharing! Stress is absolutely the worst. For me, my face breaks out … Digestive system is thrown off … Hair breaks easily … And I just feel awful.

A night out with my mom or good friends always helps me. It’s nice to be able to have a glass of wine and then talk about everything/cry if I need to and not be judged :)

One of my favorite de-stresser songs is Free Fallin (the acoustic version that John Mayer sings). It’s beautiful!
