I wouldn’t mind running here daily and your GSC (Girl Scout Cookie) opinion.

California running weather + breathing at sea level—> you are something special to me.

Just a few miles around Anaheim yesterday morning to get some Vitamin D, a sweat and to feel like a human again…

IMG 0733

Because we felt like this when we first woke up.  Disneyland hangover is real.  We did luck out at Disney on Friday because for the entire morning we pretty much walked onto a lot of the rides without waiting in line but I think the 16 hours of Disney + crazy crowds at night = we woke up not feeling our best. Like usual, just getting outside and moving around for 45 minutes did the trick though…

IMG 0748

Also, the most expensive pair of flip flops I will ever buy.  I started getting blisters on my feet from my shoes and so I had to buy some shoes at Disneyland for the rest of the day.  $28 for these babies… I could have bought 7 more churros with that kind of cash but they did solve the blister problem.

IMG 0737

We hit up the pool for a little bit before

starting the trip home.

IMG 0769

Curly made sure to sport her fanciest jewels for our journey.

IMG 0772

We stopped for a quick lunch (I’m pretty sure we take 100 pictures of him a day between the two of us).

IMG 0796

And my sister bought us Girl Scout Cookies.  My niece tried to convince us to get the PB variety but we all reminded her that the samoas and thin mints are the only way to go;)

IMG 0781

We started feeling a little crazy after so many hours in the car but we powered through.

IMG 0801

My sister whipped out the apple chips from Costco to snack on… great minds think alike.  We always end up buying the same things there without knowing the other person bought them.

IMG 0802

We made it to St. George to spend the night before driving the rest of the way.

IMG 0810

Cousin sleepovers were the absolute best as a kid.  I have a feeling these two will have a lot of them over the years.

Thin mints for sure. 2nd are samoas then 3rd PB. Do you think your sister reads your blog to learn what to buy at TJs?

Reply

Thin mints and the PB sandwich cookies are my favorites. Not a huge fan of Samoas, but my husband loves them.

I didn’t have many cousins close 1) close to my age and 2) close in proximity. Our closest cousins lived three states away and the rest lived on the other side of the country. We’ve gotten to know each other better as adults though!

Today: long run, doing some cleaning and watching the Oscars later tonight! Have a great trip home!

I grew up in the same Ward as most of my cousins. All of them, and my grandparents with in walking distance was the best thing ever! 7 of my cousins are girls my age. So we had permanent best friends all the time.
You’re not going to believe it, but I don’t think I’ve really ever had Girl Scout cookies. Although anything like a thin mint sounds great to me.

Reply

My cousins are like my sisters! We were super close growing up and still are :) glad you guys had so much fun. Looks like a blast!!!

Reply

I haven’t had Girl Scout cookies in ages but I used to love Thin Mints and Tagalongs. Most of my cousins are significantly older than me, but I have one my age and we were close growing up. We even went to the same high school.

Reply

Samoas are my favorite!

I don’t have cousins my age, but my little sister Erica was born two weeks after our cousin Ben, and the two of them have been inseparable their entire lives!

Three things I’m doing today – running (yay!), cleaning (boooo), grocery shopping

Reply

It was empty Friday because most people work or go to school.

Reply

Hey Anna! I have been to Disneyland on plenty of weekdays when it has been packed from open to close! People go there on vacation;) hope you have a great day and thanks for reading!

Reply

Man, that is so true. I’ve never heard of Disney to be empty. There seems to be crowds and lines 24/7 365 days a year. It’s like a drugs for people. It’s crazy. You so lucked out. What a blessing.

Reply

Most people try not to take vacations when their kids are in school.

Reply

I have to disagree. Many people try to vacation when the crowds will be at their lightest. They take their vacation time and their children bring schoolwork to hand in post vacation.
I have first hand knowledge, because I am a grade school teacher.
Honestly, a couple days out of the classroom don’t hurt anyone and most adults have plenty of vacation days.

Lol!

RIGHT? Lol

Reply

I am a teacher as well and I disagree

does anyone not love thin mints? if you say you do, you’re a liar. I grew up with my cousins too and we’re all still incredibly close. nothing is more fun than family get togethers now and I look forward to hanging out with them any chance I get.

and today is a classic catch-up sunday. finishing errands I was too lazy to run and prepping for a new week. but the weather is also epically nice outside, so I have a feeling I’ll be spending a heavy chunk of time outdoors and I can’t wait.

Reply

I love that run around Disney! We had season passes for a year, so running around the park was the perfect way to start the morning!

Speaking of cousins, we are taking my niece to Six Flags today! I love spending time with the niece and nephew and even though my kids are a bit older, they love caring for their younger cousins! I’m doing some stretching/yoga with the hubs this morning and meal prepping for the week when we get home.

Reply

I have so many first cousins and I treasure my childhood memories of hanging out with them. Even though one side of my family is spread out across the country, we would get together over the holidays at my grandparents’ place, and those were the best times ever! Now that we’re grown we’re still super close — nothing beats cousin-love!
I tried my first Girl Scout cookie last week — my husband bought a box of samoas. I had no idea what I’d been missing all these years! Wow!

Reply

I am waiting to try new Girl Scout cookies called lemonades! I love Trefoils (the simple butter cookies) and I spread Nutella on them. Heavenly.
Just made the boyfriend breakfast.
We are going to take a hike with the dogs next and probably grocery shopping and cooking for the week before settling down to watch the Oscars.

Reply

I LOVE Samoas and could eat a whole box shame free. Well…most of a box. But apparently God did not appreciate that and now I have Celiac. So there Tess…God said. You may no longer appreciate Girl Scout cookies. But to torture you, we’ll make these gluten free Girl Scout cookies which are not anything like actual Girl Scout cookies and you can still “participate”. You can get a “participation ribbon” for just showing up so to speak. Ugh. So wrong. SO WRONG> One of the few things I actually miss.

Reply

Tess, my daughter would agree wholeheartedly with you. And she would give anything for a box of Thin Mints!!

Reply

Solidarity Baby. She has my sympathy.

Reply

I have Celiac too, but I love the gluten free Toffetastic ones. They are better than any of the ones I ever used to eat in my opinion lol, but it’s been a while since I’ve had normal girl scout cookies.

Reply

I seriously JUST read the article about the Magic Kingdom pricing going up! That’s crazy. I am not much of a Disney fan but I think that’s really sad for people who are! Disney is crazy priced and for people not making a ton of money, single moms (I have friend who are single moms) that is just killer pricing.

Reply

Fav GS cookie- Samoas! We bought some of the Peanut butter kind the other day because the Samoas were sold out ? And I have to say- peanut butter were better than the thin mints! I know… Don’t hate me. ?

Reply

I love thin mints…obvi…but one of my all time fave GSC that they don’t make anymore I don’t think we’re lemon drops!!! Anyone?! Ooooo they were like shortbread with lemon chunks… SO GOOD

Reply

Those are my favorite two flavors of Girl Scout cookies, too! I buy those two from each little Girl Scout that asks me. Yum!

Today I am:
1. Picking out a vacation house for our Disney World trip!
2. Celebrating my parents’ 41st wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
3. Going for a trail run with my daughters.

Reply

Your pictures totally warm my heart… and I really need it after coming back from 10 miles in the minus degrees with wind and hail ;-) Marking papers today, going to inside playground with little guy and dinner at the restaurant later with big guy and little guy! Happy Sunday!

Reply

I loooove GSC :) !!! Anything but the minty ones! I m a little jealous of Brooke here, unfortunatelly I wasn’t very close with my cousins growing up. They were way younger than me so we didnt really have much in common so no sleepovers :( Today’s plan for me includes some blog related work, some PhD related work, a coffee date with my favourite man and a quick spin work out. Still don’t feel 100% to get out for a run and the extremely cold weather wont help my cough so i ‘ve been houme bound for the whole past week!

Reply

Samoas and thin mints are the best!!! I found that our local grocery store sells a knock off of them and I really can’t tell the difference. Not Good since I do not have much willpower to avoid them! Thin mints broken up in a glass of milk is the best!!
Not really close with cousins but with 1 brother and 4 sisters, I had the next best thing!
Today I’m running, playing ball with the kids, and church!

Reply

Favorite GS cookie are Thin Mints (and put them in the freezer, even better!).
Glad you all had such a great time!
Today: Target run, cooking stuffed pepper soup and watching the Oscars.

Reply

I wouldn’t say my cousins were all close – maybe met up once a year. We all live across Ontario, with one living in Alberta so we only get together once a year, but we have been doing our annual BBQ’s now for a number of years.

Canada only has two types of Girl Scout cookies – mint and the chocolate/vanilla option. I am on team Chocolate/Vanilla!

Reply

FYI : for all of you who are not allergic to chocolate (I am!), a former colleague used to make a pan of brownies with a box of GSC chocolate mint (sorry, no recipe!). They were a HUGE success around the office!

Reply

It looks like a lot of fun out there. I feel like we are playing Russian roulette with when we are in California. I wish it was at the same time. Glad you had a good time Janae.

Reply

THIN MINTS !!!! They are so crazy addicting.

Today I am running, cleaning, and making ice cream!

Reply

Today, I’m studying, going out for lunch, and more studying!

I loved Samoas and Tagalongs! I just love the chocolate+pb combo. Thin mints in the freezer though..SO good.

Reply

The PB ones are my favorite, but Samoas are a close second! Today I’ll be heading out for my long run, then studying for a big big test I have next Monday. Safe Travels!

Reply

Thin Mints for me but the menfolk love Samoas.

No cousins on either side within 3 years of me (except the ones who considered me the red-headed step-cousin) so not close. But my brother’s best friend is our cousin and my middle sister is close to his sister.

Three things today: church, figure out what neighborhoods we like for our upcoming move, and get the big boys ready to go back to school tomorrow.

Reply

Samoas and Thin Mints!

Sadly, I wasn’t close to my cousin growing up. We only saw each other a couple times a year.

Today: easy walk, church, nap. Perfect Sunday!

Reply

Tagalongs are my all time favorites! I’m with your niece! :)

Cousin sleepovers are the best. Some of my best childhood memories are from the times that my sister and I, and my two guy cousins spent the nights at my Grandma’s house while our parents went out. Lots of Dukes of Hazzard and Disney movies. (yeah, I’m a little older than you… lol) But oh so fun!

Reply

I’m glad you set your sister straight! Thin mints and Samoa are the only ways to go!!
Three things today: some prenatal yogs, church, and dinner with the fam. Have a safe rest of your trip!!

Reply

Your niece is right–Tagalongs are the best! Thin mints are a close second lol.

We have one set of cousins we were always close to growing up. They moved across the country many years ago and so we only see them once every few years. But when we all get together now it’s still like old times and we just pick up where we left off! I really hope my kids are like that with their cousins too.

Sounds like a great trip!

Reply

thin mints!! yes, I was close to a couple of my cousins growing up and still am! Just got in a 5 mile run!

Reply

Peanut butter patties and Samoas! The best. 3rd place: thin mints :)

Reply

I was close to my cousins growing up and still close to some of them.

Today I don’t have a lot planned, just walking/running/ or hiking and going to the farmers market.

Glad you enjoyed your trip and had a warm run in the sun!

Reply

That’s so funny about the flip flops – I went to disney land a few years ago while in the LA area for work and bought a pair of Havaianas bc the shoes I was wearing were not comfy enough – so $$$!

Reply

Samoas all the way, no contest! Looks like the perfect weekend trip :)

Reply

Your photos make me SO jealous! I’m in Northern Alberta and have to bundle up just to run to the car … so I can make it to the gym … brrrrrrr (-12C).

Sure looks like you guys had a great time :)

Reply

Peanut butter patties are the best! They don’t last a day in my house.

Reply

Yum I need some cookies in my life. I agree with your niece anything peanut butter flavoured floats my boat.

3 things today. Run = done. Work = super busy day ahead. Stay positive and calm = if I can get through a tough day at work day feeling calm and zen then it will be a successful day.

Reply

I’m honestly not a big fan of GSCs. Never had them much growing up. But if I had to pick the best one, I’d go with Thin Mints.

I’m extending my three things for today to five: Run, church, bake cookies, do homework, and prepare to get my wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow, yayyyy.

Reply

Samoas – absolutely the best. I cant buy them because I have no control and could eat the whole box!
You are making such great memories for you and Brooke. I am so happy for you!

Spending the day with my dog. He’s only 7 but suffering from Heart problems so this is his last days. :(

Reply

I’m still impressed beyond belief that all of those kiddos lasted 16 hours! That is crazy! I hope you have a quick trip home! Drive safe :)

Reply

I love the peanut butter ones, straight out of the freezer.

I had to be an adult yesterday and buy a new frig as ours is no longer staying cold and running constantly. So I am cleaning out that and also bought a new washer/dryer, so trying to clean out the closet that held our other one, the one we had didn’t exhaust right so there is so much lint and I need to fix the hole in the ceiling where the exhaust was. I hate being an adult.

Reply

Samoas are where it’s at! My cousins are all 15-16 years younger than me, but I grew up treating them more like nieces and nephews than cousins. Now they are all grown up and heading off to college…. I feel so old!!

Reply

Peanut butter patties and Carmel delights! (I’ve been slacking on keeping up with the new/different cookie names haha). I really wish my cousins and I lived closer together. That’s such a fun trip that I’m sure theyll remember forever! :)

Reply

Thin Mints are where it’s at! A classic, tried and true!

For not living close to my cousins growing up, I feel like we were pretty close.

Three things I did/am doing today? Run, “ice bath” in the ocean, Oscars watch party.

Those apple chips sound so good right now. Yum!

Reply

I love Samoas! They are so good! I was super close to one of my cousins growing up and I loved it. We were both left handed, had the same middle name, and were only 4 months apart. :) Today I spoke in church, made chili for lunch, and now I am working on a blog post. :) Your trip looks like it was a blast, but holy moly I can’t believe your flip flops cost that much!

Reply

Three things I’m doing today: 1.) Flying all day long. Was in Miami for the weekend with friends and somehow booked the worst return ticket ever … Miami to Charlotte to Chicago to Minneapolis (for a work trip). 2.) Having dinner with a friend from high school tonight 3.) Getting to bed EARLY. Stayed up way too late this weekend!

Reply

I’ll take any type of Girl Scout cookie, but Thin Mints and Samoas are my absolute favorites as well! I’m close to several cousins, but one of them is 5 months younger than I am and we talk every day!

Reply

Samoas are the best, though there’s a Keebler version of them (Coconut Dreams) so I don’t have to wait for the GS cookie season :)

I was really close to my cousins when we were growing up, but we live really far apart now, which makes it hard.

Reply

Do-Si-Dos! Peanut butter sandwich cookies…

Reply

Thin mints for sure!!!! I may have 5 or 6 boxes in the freezer right now! :)

I did not grow up around my cousins, but I am the oldest so there were lots of nights where I convinced my little sisters to be in country music videos we made on the huge vhs camcorder!!

Reply

Sadly one of my cousins, and the youngest of my generation passed away a few days ago. We used to see each other at least once a year growing up but it’s been almost ten years now. I feel bad because he moved closer to get his wife and kids back closer to her family. He was 42 years old. Lymphoma.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer.

Reply

Oh Clark, I am truly so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!

Reply

The pic of Curly with her “morning face” is cracking me up. I feel like that too when the alarm goes off super early. Good job to all of you for pulling off an epic adventure!

Reply

Thin mints all the way! And I LOVE how close all the cousins are and that you live so close to your family. That’s the thing I miss most about moving to China…not seeing my family or my nieces/nephews grow up!

Reply

Samoas and the Lemonades. Wow, I need to get me some. I grew up far from my cousins but now that I am older and live closer I’m trying to reconnect more.

Reply

Thin Mints are definitely high on my list, but I have two girls who are girl scouts and usually we wind up with multiple boxes of every kind so I don’t need to pick favorites!

Tonight, the girls and I are hosting a pampered chef party, we are all super excited!

My cousins are the best. My siblings and I lived about 5 hours from the rest of the cousins growing up but we lived for vacations at Grammy and Pa’s. We are all still pretty close, even though we are even more spread out now as “grown-ups”.

Reply

Samoas & Thin Mints all the way! And I love Disney SO MUCH!!!

Reply

i love running in anaheim the weather is so much nicer there than it is here. i’ve actually heard that brand of sandal is suppossed to be really good…but $28 for sandals is a little crazy! then again i bought tieks for disney and those are way more than that lol. SAMOAS ALL THE WAY!!! I dont even bother with other flavors anymore
