Just me and about a million treadmills hanging out together.
Off to the provo rec for some sports watching.
My niece is owning the bball court.
And we are rocking the fan section.
Turns out the grandkiddos are all pretty obsessed with my mom.
She tried to teach me how to whistle with her fingers… I still can’t do it.
Within 5 minutes she went from this…
to this…
An ad popped up on my computer for this Froyo run… I think this race has my name written all over it.
PS one of the biggest highlights from this last week:
Now that Brooke can recognize her name she is certain that any package from Brooks is meant for her.

In your opinion, what are the best foods/treats/drinks to have at a finish line of a race?
Did you sleep in a bit this morning or wake up early?

Without a doubt, oranges!
Sarah @ SarahRuns26
After one race I was at they had an oatmeal bar with a million toppings. It was awesome! Another race I did had fresh grilled cheese being made at the finish!
I was up early today but fully intend to take a nap this afternoon!
Margaret @ youngandrungry
There is such a thing as a Froyo run?! That might be the winner, but post-race treats all depend on the distance and the time of year! I’ve been wanting to do a hot chocolate run in the winter and then something like froyo would be perfect for summer. It’s hard for me to eat anything except a banana after a marathon so I don’t need anything fancy for that.
I’m up early ready for my pre-church run!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
I slept in today which was much needed. After some coffee and email, I will be good to go to the gym for some treadmill action. I would be all over that group race if I were you!
Mel_OutRunCF
It’s crazy how happy the sight of a banana makes me after a half-marathon ;-) After a marathon, that’s another story…can’t stomach anything for hours! Yes, indeed, I slept until 7h30…wow! that’s such a luxury considering I’m usually up at 5am to run before work… Now, long run time! Have a good Sunday!
Melissa @ See Dav Run
I love having bananas and gummies after a run. Let’s be real: there’s very little food I’ll turn down at a finish line. A Froyo run sounds basically like perfection.
I was about to sleep in (ignored my alarm) when the cat knocked over a glass on the bedside table. Oh well! :) up and at ’em!
Suzy
Andrew and I are about to run the Phoenix Rock n Roll marathon! It starts in an hour and a half. So excited! Yesterday I did the 5K and there was a beer garden at the finish line… at 8:30 am. I was like, WHAT!?!? Ha ha! I’ve never had beer at the finish before. Maybe it’s an American thing? I didn’t try it but maybe if I can help Andrew get his sub-4 hour goal then we will celebrate with a beer. I’m so excited, and I’m hoping I can help him get this race done with the number “3” in front. :)

Ha that treadmill photo is awesome. At least there was no lack of treadmills! I’ve run a couple of times on the mill lately but we’ve been pretty lucky that it was so warm and the lack of ice this winter (so far).
I think races should have bagels, some sort of protein source and water/gatorade. I don’t like bananas but most people do so I guess those too. HA.
ellen
No matter how hard i ‘ve tried it really needs to be a “special” occusion for me to go on a treadmill. Special like past year’s snowstorm in NUC with 3 feet of snow. Other wise no matter how cold – insane me- always like the outside.
Any tips? cause the treadmill is a little easier if you want to sneak in a few miles during lunch for example. How do you make the time pass?
Tonya
Pizza, little Debbie Swiss Rolls, Chips, and Coke are my favorite post-marathon eat. Although I don’t think I’ve ever done a marathon where they had all four…
Today I woke up early to almost 2 feet of snow! The workout for today: shoveling steps.
Ellie
I love it when they have peanut butter to put on things. I love bagels and bananas but I have had to bring my own PB to races because for some reason, RDs think I can eat plain bread. Silly silly.
I ran a half marathon last June and the finish line had watermelon and salt! I fell in love with that race and the director (who is now my boss!) Have you ever put salt on melon? Sounds weird but it’s great!
Did you really name Brook after the company? That’s so funny!
Kristen
That fro-yo race looks fabulous! Personally I love pizza and beer at the finish line. Apparently post race I turn into a college boy;-)
I slept in a bit this morning but was still the first one up. I love a quiet house in the morning!
Sam @ See Sam Run
I love watermelon, chips, or pizza at a race finish! I crave salt after so I’m always happy with some chips and beer. I slept in a bit this morning! But that’s mostly because I’m a bit under the weather. Still going to try to get my long run in anyways!
Taylor
That froyo run looks awesome! That is too funny that Brooke thinks all the packages from Brooks are for her :) I was up early this morning with 4 dogs begging for a walk!
Margaret @ Simple Fit Foodie
That is TOO funny about Brooke and Brooks!! She is clearly a smartie :) I didnt sleep in much this morning since I had to come into work for a few hours. Happy Sunday!
Jill @ RunEatSnap
I did an ice cream sundae run once and got ice cream at the end! That was when I lived in Utah. Utah was the best :) I have been trying to sleep in on weekends but the sun on the snow is so bright I still wake up pretty early thinking it’s noon. Enjoy your Sunday!
Wendy
I LOVE oranges after a race, and chocolate milk!
No sleeping in for me this morning… my youngest had a couple of friends spend the night and they’re all wanting IHOP :) Pancakes or french toast, yay!!
Happy Sunday everyone!
Ali
I think chocolate milk. Or the oatmeal bar from above. Or Froyo sounds amazing. The last half I ran had biscuits and gravy, our, and chocolate milk. The chocolate milk was a success. The biscuits and gravy were way too heavy.
tess
As a Celiac can I just say how much I miss the ~after the run~ treats? So wrong.
Nina
I think a fluffy hot pretzel. I want the salt and they taste better than bagels.
I was up early but had a lazy morning. I need one morning where I am not running around right away. I read, watched Joel Olsteen, and just generally recharged. Now I can clean, work out and make a quick trip to the store.
Leanne
I love apples and watermelon and really cold water after a race. My stomach can’t handle anything else.
We have a 15 month old dog and an 11 week old puppy, so there is no sleeping in! I usually make Sunday my rest day, but my daughter was at a sleepover, so I ran a 10k. My faster ever- 43:21; I hit 6 miles at exactly 42:00! So thrilled to still be getting faster at 40.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Wendy
Wow, what a great time!
ellen
WOW!!!! that is a an awesome time!!! I wish i ‘ll improve that much! My fastest 10k is 1:03… Any tips?!?!?
The Hungry Runner Girl
LEANNE!!! GIRL, HUGE congrats on your awesome 10k. You ROCKED IT!!! PS can we come hang out with your dogs?
Leanne
Thanks, Ladies!
Yes, yes, yes, Janae! If you are ever in the DC area let me know. Brooke would love my puppies (goldendoodles).
No good advice, just lots of running on the treadmill to do speed work. I’ve been working for a year to get from an 8 minute mile to a 7 min mile.
ellen
Love the dedication! Yeah i just started doing speed work again since i had just stopped for a while and my speed suffered quit a bit. It s easy to just get all into logging miles and forget about speedwork or crosstraining.
Jessica
Accidently slept in until almost 10am today!! I guess I needed it.
I’m more into good swag than good treats. All I need after a race is a little bit of Gatorade and a banana!
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
I woke up early and realized that it had snowed. Didn’t watch the news last night so it was a big surprise. Just spent the last hour shoveling the driveway. And now my legs and hands are frozen. Ugh.
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
That froyo run sounds amazing!!
Karrie
Brooke sleeping, is so cute!!
I think pancakes are a really good idea! Pretty much any sweet carb would be great though! Donuts, cupcakes, etc.
This morning I woke up early to volunteer at the Houston marathon and it was awesome!!!
Amanda @ Exploring Life & Things
Okay I want to do this froyo run! I think watermelon is the best food I’ve had after a race during the summer. I’m not usually super hungry for awhile and fruit is the only thing that sounds good to me!
Kristin
A fro yo race sounds amazing! I love that brook thinks the Brooke’s stuff is for her!
Kathy
I did the froyo 10k last year about was skittle more humid and hotter than usual, so having a fruit frozen yogurt at the end of the race was oh so satisfying! It immediately helped to cool me down and was delicious! Definitely recommend it! As for other post race foods, chocolate milk and watermelon and grapes!
Caroline
Hahahahaha! Brooke is too cute! You might have a good product tester on your hands!
I can’t handle food at race finish lines…but if I could I’d opt for PB&J, ice cream, or hot chocolate or even coffee.
Hydration-wise…I love Nuun. Or Harmless Harvest coconut water. Anything else makes me queasy!
Enjoy your Sunday!
jade
Best foods at the finish line are muffins, cookies and bagels…watermelon slices in the summer are amazing too. After my first marathon in 1995, a girl toasted a bagel for me and put PB and raspberry jam on it and I will NEVER to this day, forget how delicious that was! :)
Happy Sunday to everyone!
Sheena
That ad popped up on my computer also and the first thing I thought of was you!
The Hungry Runner Girl
HAHAH I feel honored! We should all go do it together!
Half Marathon James
I finished a trail race where they were cooking cheeseburgers outdoors. It was the nicest I have ever had, although the fact that I had just finished a race in the rain may have made it more enjoyable.
Amanda B @ Cupcakes & Miles
Whoa! That froyo medal is too cool!
And, I know it’s going to sound weird, but at the finish line of a race, all I want is a banana and some soda (Diet Coke or Sprite).
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood
A froyo run sounds right up your alley! I love that Brooke things all brooks packages are for her – I would have too if my name was Brooke
Jenny
I love having fruit at the finish line. There have also been a few races with pancakes at the finish line that I’m always really happy about having. I want to run that froyo race but I don’t think it will happen this year.
Sarah
I slept in until a little after 7, because my 4 year old decided to pretend like he was an infant last night and woke up FOUR times crying. Ugh.
But I got my run in anyway, 4 miles, because I needed the workout in the cold air to relax me after a night like that.
I think beer after a race would be awesome. And there is a half marathon from Sonoma to Napa with a wine festival at the end. #myideaofheaven
The Hungry Runner Girl
FOUR TIMES!!! Oh Sarah, I hope that you get a nap today! Hopefully you get to do the sonoma race each each… sounds perfect for you!
Sheena @ Paws and Pavement
Fro-yo at the end of a race sounds good to me! I did the Hot Chocolate run in Chicago and the chocolate fondue at the end was yummy. I got up early this morning for spin class then swimming. Great way to start the day.
Dawn
I would just love them all to have bananas, and not that half banana thing, no!, I want the WHOLE banana, stop cutting those bananans in half. I’m Paleo so bananas is the only thing I can eat and I get bummed when they do not have them. And water, can I please have a water bottle, no not those cups, I want a whole water bottle, haven’t I earned it?
I will step off my soap box now….
But I need to find a race with coffee and wine at the end, then I would be golden :) I still go through the lines though and pick up the granola bars and donuts and give them to my Dad, haha, he gets excited when I finish so he can get treats!
Up at 4:15 am….work at 6:30am…now I’m off work and headed to the gym for treadmill and lifting :)
Steven
Awesome photos! I wish i could whistle with my fingers!
ellen
I looooove the bananas at the end and maybe a milkshake afterwards ;)
Yup got to sleep in to day till 10:30am, what a treat :) Since i got up pretty early yesterday for my long run!
Tedi @ Running With Infertility
I wished I could have slept in today. I had to give myself 3 hormone injections this morning, and they have to be done at the same time each day (so 5:30am)! Hopefully, this will be the last day.
Best race foods are definitely chocolate milk, bananas, and creamies! I ran a 5k race one year that the girl we were supporting loved chocolate and she had lots of different chocolate things at the end of the race. So yummy!
Emily
I did the Froyo run last March! While it was fun I was a little disappointed that they only had two flavor options and you were only allowed 2 toppings!
Becky @Ok, So Here's the Plan
There should always be doughnuts at race finishes. And chocolate milk.
I woke up early for no good reason today – I was not super happy about it.
Jenni
There is a froyo run on May 14th in Salt Lake!
Kay
A froyo run sounds perfect for you!
Georgia Mae
I think it’s so cool what a close relationship you have with your family. When my sister and I have kids someday I hope they can be as close to my parents and their cousins as your family is!
Carol
I would love a compiled list of all of your treadmill workouts :-)
The Hungry Runner Girl
I will get working on that! Great idea! THANKS CAROL!!!!
Arthi
Woke up early to catch a flight home from NYC!
My favorite food/drinks to have post-race is hot chocolate in the winter time and chocolate milk in the summer time! Oh … And … I ran the Magnificent Mile Women’s Half over Labor Day weekend last year and they were handing out frozen bananas dipped in chocolate after. Perfection!! It was a super hot day and the best post-race treat!
Ultra Run Couple @UltraRunCouple
We eat atypical “running” foods after our ultras. At the end of 100s we usually eat lots of Pizza and I am typically craving some vegetables after eating so many carbs for 20+ hours.

I think this is among the most significant info for me.
And i am glad reading your article. But wanna remark on few general things, The web site style is ideal,
the articles is really great : D. Good job, cheers
