Just like our pace changes over the months… our distance perception sure changes a lot throughout the year too! I was pretty spent the other day by the end of what used to be a normal/more causal/daily distance just a few months ago.
10 miles total and it felt like 20 but I am just happy to get in some double digit runs again. Now when I read about other people running 18, 20 or 22 miles I get tired just thinking about it yet during marathon training those distances are still hard but very doable. When we are getting towards the end of a marathon training cycle a 10 mile run on a weekend morning feels like we are taking a vacation compared to what we normally do on the weekends.
Any other gym goers have a favorite treadmill/elliptical/stair climber that they are kind of obsessed with? I don’t know why I love it so much but if it is taken when I get there I keep my eyes on it until the person gets off and then I can make it mine.
I have been a PureFlow/PureCadence girl for years. Years! I still love them dearly but after my latest marathon I decided to switch things up a bit and try out some different shoes because I feel like my feet need a little bit more shoe/support these days. When I am in training mode again for a race I will go back to my PureCadence 4s for speed work and tempo runs because I feel like I can fly in those. I will be sticking to the Launch 3s for all of the other runs because my feet and body are responding really well to them.
The Launch 3s come in at 7.9 oz. Looking at them I thought they would be heavier than they are but I am loving the amount of cushion I am getting without them feeling clunky/heavy—> I get the best of both worlds with these—> extremely comfortable shoes with plenty of support while still feeling lightweight. The heel to toe drop is 10mm. These shoes are great for medium to high arches… my arches have been feeling so much better in these because I was needing some extra support there! The BioMoGo DNA makes it so that the cushioning/shoe adjusts to your weight, pace, gait, running surface and the way you run… giving you the best ride for you personally. They aren’t quite as flexible as the Pure line (in my opinion) but a little bit more firmness is actually what my feet were needing lately.
The breathability (the upper of this shoes is air mesh allowing for great air flow) is awesome—> I have used these in the hot gym a ton already and my feet stay nice and cool. I have done 3 speed workouts in these shoes too and I definitely noticed the added rubber in the forefoot which makes it easier to spring forward with each step. Actually, maybe I will still do tempo runs in these when training for my next marathon… so many tough decisions these days;)
They are $100 and who doesn’t love a hot pink running shoe (the black ones with the light green base are pretty darn cute too). PS in the heel of the shoe it says to Run Happy which is a great reminder each time I put my running shoes on. I’ve put about 175 miles on these already and I’m guessing I will get another 200-300 for sure out of them (I’ll let you know)!
In other news, I have been doubling it up with the water bottles at the gym. My movie theater mug full of 40% ice and 60% water works wonderfully.
Let’s talk about some things going down in our neck of the woods since we last caught up.
-Two of Brooke’s friends came over the other morning and they kept quite busy in Brooke’s room.
-It might have been kind of rude of me to wear this donut tank to boot camp. I’m sure it made some of us crave donuts while Megan was giving us a killer strength workout.
-You have to start getting pretty creative when it comes to playing hide-and-seek in a two bedroom apartment.
-I got to snuggle up with Brooke while she slept in my arms over at my mom’s house.
-Brooke made this for me at pre-school. This is one of those things that I will keep for the rest of my life.
-Still making sure to get in plenty of singing.
-Brooke hung out at Lindsey’s house for a few minutes the other day and when I came over I found Brooke completely pampered and snuggled up on the couch watching Toy Story with snacks and blankets. She even has my friends wrapped around her finger.
-Just wearing a long sleeve shirt, two sweatshirts and a coat around town. Yesterday was out of control cold.
-Does anyone else end up watching every single one of these Tip Hero food making videos that they come across on Facebook. I even watch the ones that don’t sound very good to me because they make it all look so easy and delicious. I don’t want to know how much time I spent during my last insomnia night watching these.
-I can’t even tell when she is faking asleep;)

Ever bought a pair of running shoes that just did not work out for you and your body?
Tell me about the best run that you have had in the last week or two!! I want to know what was so great about it!
Gym goers—> do you have a favorite treadmill (or other cardio machine) there?
