A Sunrise Run and Legoland with BROOKERS

Well, this was probably the best change of plans there ever was.  I got to pick up Brooke yesterday morning and so the two of us went straight to Legoland for the good stuff.

I had no idea how much Brooke would love the roller coaster that they have there.  She has a little daredevil side to her.  This was our first time to Legoland and it was pretty cool.  I think it is PERFECT for her age group because they had so many rides just her size.

She was a huge fan of the planes.

It felt good to feel whole again doing what I love to do most (mom stuff).

The map alone kept Brooke pretty entertained in line.

Lunch was actually really good (amusement park food is always a gamble) but this chicken stir-fry nailed it.

IMG 4991

Brooke is better with her chopsticks than I am.

IMG 4992

I had to laugh that Brooke wanted to wait in a very long line for the snow area… if only she knew we were going back to a ridiculous amount of this stuff at home tomorrow.

A quick rewind to the very beginning of my Saturday… it has been a very very long time since the last time I saw the sunrise during a run.  7 miles in an hour while the world was still pretty silent and the sky was almost too good.  These are the types of runs that are real good for your soul and beyond worth missing out on some sleep.

Sure felt nice to have this little peanut asleep in the bed with me while I watched Miss Congeniality last night.

The only amusement parks I’ve been to are lagoon, universal studios and Disneyland. A little lame over here. My favorite was Disneyland, of course! But it’s fun to go to lagoon once in a while because it’s much closer.

Disneyland is hands down my favorite place. There’s truly something for everyone there and the food is amazing too!

I’ve been to Hershey Park, Disney, Kennywood and Universal Studios – I’m not a huge amusement park kind of gal…

Where are your shoes from? I am dying to find a pair like that and am having the hardest time!

Reply

My timing has been really off lately for sunrise runs. I’m either out too early on work days or too late on the weekends. Hoping that changes over the next month or so as we start to get some more daylight again!
Legoland looks like alot of fun! Glad you got some extra unexpected time with Brooke:)

Legoland looks awesome! I just had a sunrise run this morning – definitely my favorite :)

The family just returned home from Florida. We went to EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios and LEGOLAND!!!!! I actually loved the rides at Legoland…fun, exciting, and yet not too crazy for my motion sick tummy. Of course, the boy (almost 13) loved Miniland the best…all the creations out of Legos were amazing. I loved the White House the best!

I haven’t had a sunrise run for weeks – I miss marathon training!!

I never knew there was a Legoland! That’s so cool. I really like Hershey Park, but I’m not sure what my favorite park is! I think I have to do more research :)

Looks like you ladies had a blast!

My favorite amusement park ever is a tossup between Blizzard Beach in Orlando or Cedar Point!

Legoland looks like SO MUCH fun! Where were these things when I was that age?!

I get a sunlight almost every day because I run before I go to work… Endorphins + a great feeling of accomplishment before 6am! Awesome ;-)

Sunrise runs are good for the soul! There isn’t much better!

Legoland looks so fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sunrise runs are rare for me. Usually only on a long run in the summer months when I have to get those miles in before it is too hot.
I love Hershey park!

Reply

I would say Disneyworld has been my favorite amusement park! LEGOLAND is great too though!
Such a beautiful sunrise! And I agree, so worth missing out on some sleep for. I am usually done with my run before the sun rises these days but hopefully that will change the winter moves on and we get more daylight.

These days, I don’t have a lot of sunrise runs because it’s so cold in the mornings! But I love sunrise workouts. They are absolutely beautiful!

I’ve actually never been to a really big amusement park like Disney Land! Only small little local ones! :)
If anybody could check out my blog that would super amazing!!!

Never been to legoland (this autocorrects to legislate on my phone lol) even though I grew up in San Diego. I’m sure my daughter will force me into it. Ah, I miss sunrise runs. My last one was when I was pregnant. It’s so rare that my husband and I are both home that early. I wonder if I could find an early morning babysitter…glad you’re reunited when your daughter!

One of my biggest goals for this training cycle is going to be to get my runs over with in the morning before work so I don’t stress about them/end up not doing them after work. So a lot more sunrise runs coming my way. But some may be just watching from the treadmill haha.

So glad you made it to Carlsbad, and Legoland, more importantly! Now you just need to come back in three weeks and run the marathon with the rest of us! I promise, you will love it!

Sunrise runs: every weekday! Right before work, it’s the best time to get a run in–no one is out except for the little garbage skunks. =)

This post makes me so happy for you!!

lego land.. love it!! Definitely was there when I was a child. Looks like you had a great time with Brooke! xoxo

My favorite park will always be Disneyland. So many great memories from there. I’ve never been to Legoland though, maybe one of these days.

I used to get in early sunrise runs all the time with friends (several times a week) but I’m just now getting back from an injury so I’m slowly getting back. They are great!

Legoland is perfect for little ones. We took our nephews when they were 6 and 9 and they could have lived there! I’m a Knotts Berry Farm fan – we went there in the late 60s when there wasn’t much there, and an alligator farm was next door. Admission was 25 cents in 1968! I have so many fun memories of my family there.

Most of my runs are sunrise runs, my internal alarm clock makes sure of it.

Reply

Not often enough on the sunrise run. I do get dark on treadmill pretty often and that has a silence I love .

Reply

Well, I have to be at work by 6:30, so I’m usually done and showered by the time the sun comes up! I’ve tried working out after a 10 hour work day before, and it’s just not for me. If I don’t get the workout done before, it just isn’t happening. I cherish my Saturday long runs when I do get to catch the sunrise though :) I run down West Side Highway in NYC, and you get the most amazing/inspiration view of the Freedom Tower you could imagine.

Never been to Legoland, but I love both Disneyland and Disneyworld.

Reply

I grew up 2 hours from Orlando, we used to get annual passes to Universal and it was the best! Universal an Islands of Adventure have always been my favorites, and now that they have Harry Potter world…. ohhh mannn :)

Reply

We love amusement parks! We have been to Disney World, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Universal’s Island of Adventure, Universal Studios-Florida. We did all those the summer before last and have plans to visit them again this summer. We’ve also been to SeaWorld-San Antonio, Six Flags-San Antonio, Silver Dollar City-Branson, Worlds of Fun-KC, Celebration City-Branson, Nickelodeon Universe-Mall of America, and Six Flags-St. Louis. I’m probably missing a couple. Magic Kingdom is still my favorite!

Reply

Yay for being reunited!! That stir fry looks killer! I’ve heard lego land is awesome fir littles 2-5ish. Wish I lived closer to take my munchkin!!

Reply

That looks like the best amusement park food ever! Would love to go to Legoland; Busch Gardens is my favorite, but that’s partly because I’m a history nerd and Williamsburg is right down the road.

I adore sunrise runs but always tend to be a little late for them. My running group meets a touch after sunrise, but I get to enjoy the view on the drive to meet them!

What a nice suprise to get Brookers early!!!

I’d have to say Hershey’s…but that’s because I am partial to chocolate and not as much of a daredevil as Brooke.
And I know it’s controversial (and I should be embarrassed to admit this since I’m a huge animal lover)…..but I really liked sea world!!!!

I love sunrise runs. It’s so peaceful and quiet and something about knowing you are putting that work in while the rest of the world snoozes always makes me feel so accomplished.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Got a sunrise run this morning, although I didn’t see the sun because of clouds and rain… but the weather didn’t stop me from finishing my FIRST MARATHON! And while I was just hoping for a sub-4, my time was 3:29! Way better than I expected!

Reply

I WAS THINKING ABOUT YOU THIS MORNING!!!!!! I am so so so so so so stoked for you! Grant you rocked it AND came in 31 minutes faster than your goal. Your first marathon —>3:29?!?! Amazing!!!!!

Reply

Aw, thanks Janae!! That means a lot. I’m thrilled and I’m already googling other marathons near me in the next few months, haha. And I celebrated Janae-style: a salad the size of a basketball and donuts!

Reply

Brooke seems to have such a thriving personality! I love reading about her and learning more about her interests! Also, aren’t Southern California sunrises the best? I run in similar lighting almost every morning when I am in San Diego. It’s incredible!

Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday as your family is reunited together. <3

Good job with those chopsticks!! Favorite amusement park is Six flags in Gurnee IL. Its been awhile since I’ve had a sunrise run. Sounds peaceful.

Reply

It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to go to Legoland, maybe this will be the year lol. And that food looks amazing, I have never seen food as healthy in an amusement park. It’s been a while since my last sunrise run, but at the minute Ireland doesn’t have a sunrise until about 8.30 am!!

Reply

I didn’t go to an amusement park for the first time until I was a teenager! I haven’t been to many, but am dying to go to cedar point (I love roller coasters). I don’t do as many sunrise runs now that I work nights, but I used to love them!

Reply

so fun! love LEGOLAND. :) happy 2016 my dear friend. <3 you're the best mama xo

My twins love Carlsbad Legoland and so do I. The water park is fantastic during summer season. Mine actually prefer it over the beach.

Enjoy the rest of your stay and safe travels back to Utah!

My aunt took me and my cousin there when we were little and visited San Diego. We took my little brother to the Legoland in Germany a few years ago. SO fun!

Reply

I so keep saying I am going to take my son to legoland in Florida….. You make me want to go even more!!! I need to get on it before he grows out of the stage where he thinks legos are cool.

I am truly impress with your daughter’s use of chop sticks! Really amazed! I am 43 and have yet master the use of them!! LOL! :D

So jealous of you guys and snow! Can’t remember the last time I was able to see snow! And, my 6 year old has yet to see it! Another addition to the “to do list” :D

Disneyland! I miss Disneyland.

I pretty much never get a sunrise run – I like sleep too much! :)

Reply

Disney is the best! (Land or world…I love them both!) Legoland looks pretty awesome too though.

I only get sunrise runs when I’m in marathon training mode (and when it’s warmer than 40 degrees or so). Hopefully I’ll get a few good ones in this spring!!

Reply

I have some pretty fond memories of Six Flags Denver, but I have to say Disney World is my fave. Especially Epcot!

I’m you’re feeling whole again. Safe travels back home!

glad* ;)

I’ve only ever been to Disneyland so I love that. But I will be in Disneyworld this upcoming week for the first time! I’m SO excited!

I got to run to a sunrise plenty of times this past summer trying to beat the heat. But I haven’t this winter – it just is too cold for me to be up before the sun!

Reply

I can’t believe you found such good food at an amusement park! It looks like you and Brooke had so much fun. I’ve only been to like 6 Flags and this park we used to have in Nashville. I haven’t been to any of the big disney ones.

I love me some sunrise runs and I get them every morning in the summer! I run in the afternoon in the fall-winter because I don’t live in a very safe city and the sun needs to be rising pretty soon after I start running or I’m in trouble!

Reply

I have only been to Six Flags in Texas and it was quite a while ago! I would LOVE to go to Disney sometime though and Legoland looks too cute! My niece would love it!

No sunrise runs for me….I totally WISH I could wake up that early for my workouts…sleep always wins.

Reply

I usually run in the morning so have seen some gorgeous sunrises over the Boston skyline! Your view looks incredible! Utah is so beautiful. Happy running!

Reply

I am so glad you guys were able to go to Legoland. The geek in me loves to see all the Lego displays. They make some really cool stuff!

I love sunrise pictures! Lately my bed is just so much more cozy though. :)

Looks like you two had a good time at Legoland. Legoland is a good amusement park to go to during the winter season.
