I was pretty excited to rock my Star Wars shirt yesterday.
Brooke was pretty excited to hang out with grandma for a few minutes before going to bed at their house.
She is a big fan of doing strides right before bed to help her leg turnover:)
My guy is a real good sport and he wore a Star Wars shirt to the movie too. PS can I tell you a fun story real quick? After we had just started dating he took me to a sporting goods store and told me that we were going to go in and he was going to buy some clothes for himself. We went inside and he told me that he has never been a cardio-exercise-type-person but that he wanted to start running because he knew how important running is to me. He wanted to start running so that we could go for a run together every now and then. He needed my help to pick out some running clothes for him and asked me to teach him about it while we shopped:) Heart melted. His dad told me he was quite shocked when he started going over to their house to use their treadmill to get started:)
Okay, back to last night… We didn’t have time to grab dinner before the movie and so we grabbed some food at the theatre. For the first time in years I ate olives. I forgot to tell them no olives on my taco salad and I had a hard time picking them out in the dark movie theater. I ended up eating some of them. The verdict is in… I still do not like them one bit.
We had the recliner seats for the movie which takes comfort to the next level. PS remember how I told you to cross your fingers that I would win tickets for Star Wars? I won them so thank you for all of the finger crossing!
Afterwards I went to pick Brooke up and transfer her home (it is incredible how she can sleep through pretty much anything) and this was on the counter. My mom’s neighbor makes the best lemon cake on the planet so I had to have a midnight snack.
Let’s talk about motivation for a second. I had a reader email me the other day asking about what motivates me to work out each day and it got me thinking about it because currently my two BIGGEST motivators aren’t in the picture—> training for a race and having friends to meet for a run together each morning. Having a race on the agenda is usually what pushes me the most to get in the miles but right now I don’t have any idea when my next race will be. I also have been on the treadmill a lot because of the weather and babysitting and so I don’t have the girls waiting for me in the morning to get me out the door for a run. So without my two biggest motivators I still feel motivated to get my sweat on for a few reasons:
-I know I will feel SO MUCH better after a run. Just knowing my day will go much more smoothly helps me to get my gear on and go. I’ll feel more energetic, happier, more positive, more patient etc etc etc. I know myself way too well and I know that even if I don’t feel any desire to get in a sweat… that if I do I will feel so much better than if I don’t.
-I am sure if you have been working out for awhile then you feel the same way as me but exercise just feels like it is part of my day at this point. It is just part of the agenda and so I just do what I do every day.
-Alone time. Even though lately I have the Brookers running around playing right by me as I run, it still feels like my running is my alone time. I think we all need at least a few minutes each day where we can just zone out and be alone. Running gives me that opportunity to have some time to slow down (weird that I feel like I am slowing down when I run…), relax and refocus. This alone time helps me feel motivated to keep doing it because I sure love having a bit of it each day. Finding the positives (like some alone time) of working out and looking forward to those positives is a huge motivator for anyone right?
-I don’t want to get out of the habit. I know how long it takes to make a habit and I’d rather just keep going with this habit instead of falling out of the routine of working out and then trying to get back into it again. Does that make sense?
What are your biggest motivators right now to run?
Who has seen Star Wars? What did you think?
Tell me your true feelings about olives?
