Silentish Saturday—> time for 13.1 miles in Snow Canyon.

A quick 3 miles on the treadmill and then we packed up the car and hit the road to drive down south.

When we left home it was starting to snow (Brooke was trying to catch the snowflakes on her tongue)…

And then we arrived to St. George where the weather is so much better and talk about perfect race conditions for this morning:

IMG 0155

Hot chocolate and Powerade for hydration on the way down.

IMG 0154

My mom’s choice of treat which I will never understand… out of all of the amazing candy choices!?!?

IMG 0152

Carbs.

IMG 0162

And more carbs plus some protein from the chicken.

IMG 0165

I made it to the Dixie Center for a race expo… just a month later and a different race than the one I was planning on.

IMG 0156

IMG 0157

They were out of my normal fuel flavors so I am trying gingersnap flavored honey stingers and vanilla gu instead of my normal salted caramel.

IMG 0159

And I made sure to pack a left and a right shoe unlike the last time I traveled somewhere to run when I brought two right shoes.

IMG 0141

We stayed with a friend and she has a lot of toys and a dog… I don’t think Brooke will want to ever go back home.

IMG 0170

Time to run with lots of other crazy runners in a gorgeous canyon!!

Good luck! I hope you get an unintentional PR on what feels like a somewhat easy effort, because, secretly, isn’t that what we all really want? :)

Good luck! Hope the run goes well!

I have never even heard of the candy your mom choose! I would take the weather you are having, we still are having 60-70 degree days, which is nice but it doesn’t feel like fall at all!

Today I have a short run scheduled, going to a few holiday open houses and babysitting my niece and nephews for a few hours!

Have a good race!

Good luck with your race! Hopefully your run is better than my attempted one was.

Today? I am hoping to hit the RunDisney Wine & Dine half marathon expo. I’m not racing, but am hoping to check out the vendors and may even stay to do some cheerleading. ;)

Kick some booty at the race!

3 things: chocolate chip teddy grahams (carb loading!), a 5 mile run (the race is a week away!!), and catching bits and pieces of the Head of the Hooch…………..a really big rowing competition that happens in town every November. There are colleges from all over the country here to compete. The river goes right behind the aquarium where I work so I try to catch some of the races when I can. It’s a bit rainy here though, and about 65 degrees…………..normally it is in the 40’s or 50’s for this race!

Good luck Janae!
Also, I’d like to know your coach’s thought process on doing the half-marathon and then the marathon versus just waiting and doing the marathon? Is it to test your fitness? I always find it takes me a week to be fully recovered after a half – and I assume you’re jumping back into hard workouts next week!

Reply

Good luck on the race! You have the training done ad you are going to rock!

Question: Where is Brooke’s adorable floral jacket from? It is so darn cute and it catches my eye every time I see it in your photos:)

You’ll do great in the half! I just finished my long run. I planned to do 18 miles and was concerned that with my shin pain I might not be able to do it, but I ended up doing 18.7! Super encouraging!

Three things: I’m taking a writing exam. On a saturday. :( I’m going out to see the Peanuts movie because I secretly wish I was still a child. Anddddd, I’m currently catching up on How To Get Away With Murder!

I hope you had an awesome race today!! On paper conditions look awesome and I hope they were amazing. My husband is racing in 87 degree weather her for tri- nationals and his wave goes soon. It is such a shame it is so hot here. There are people from all over the U.S. Including collegiate teams. I am hoping the cooler weather makes it here soon. But, what a sweet time with the three of you making memories spending such special time together. Enjoy!!

Reply

I ran a half this morning. It was 84 degrees. That is all.

Reply

I am with you. It still feels like August here. Fall needs to hurry up and get to central Florida.

Reply

Good luck girl!

Reply

Perfect weather for sure!! Have fun at the race.

Reply

Excellent race weather!

Today I watched construction guys install windows in our house, did some yoga and hit up the grocery store. I’m running on very little sleep today, so planning on going to bed at a reasonable hour so my Sunday can be a little more productive.

Reply

I hope your run went really well!

The pic of you and Brooke in front of the St. George 13.1 sign is gorgeous!

3 Things for me today:
-Ran 9 miles (the longest I’ve ever run!)
-Walked my pup in the drizzly rain. He’s missed 3 walks because of weather and has been so sweet that I just couldn’t not take him out!
-Surprise dinner party for my friend tonight who is turning 30!

Reply

Good luck! St. George sounds like a beautiful place to run. Did I spy a shirt with a message about running on Brooke? Seems like she is ready to fill your shoes! :)

All the very best. Go out there and remember “my legs don’t hurt!”
