Long run made possible by my arms and a 10 inch donut!

The most important event of the day:  a Cougar Tail.  A 10-inch maple bar.  Make the trip to Utah just to try one of these.

Let’s rewind to the start of the day:

I slept in Saturday morning so that meant one thing…  my long run was on the treadmill and this is me reenacting how tired I was at the end.

Somehow I wasn’t bored for the 14 miles… my brain was all over the place.  1st 4 miles @ 7:30 pace and last 10 miles @ 6:27 pace.. average pace 6:45.  I didn’t take any breaks during the fast 10 miles but my legs felt pretty tired from the beginning.  So I I used my ‘when your legs get tired focus on pumping your arms and your legs will keep up’ trick and it worked for about 64 minutes.

IMG 1257

I randomly listened to this old Mariah Carey album for the run.  I don’t know why but for some reason it just worked well yesterday.

IMG 1256

Somehow Utah got the memo to have perfect November weather for the BYU game.

IMG 1297

Our seats came with the tent food before the game and during half-time.  I started off with this amazing Mexican salad (tasted better than it looks).

IMG 1293

Followed by plenty of desserts.   Waffles on a stick + a chocolate fountain = brilliant.

IMG 1295

Our seats also came with coupons for the above Cougar Tail.  I could get used to going to more football games if they always come with this much food.

IMG 1296

Brookers and I went on a date together at night and she wanted to walk around the mall and see all of the new Christmas decorations up!  I really hope she never wants to stop holding hands whenever we walk around.

IMG 1308

She was convinced that she needed these PJs but I don’t think they will really fit.

IMG 1309

Just singing Christmas carols every night and learning how to play them on a mini piano.

IMG 1311

And then I was in bed at a good time… the goal for the next two weeks leading up to the race!

It’s been tough getting out of bed in the mornings now that it’s so dark in the mornings! My ideal time out of bed would be 6 a.m. if I could every day.

I like to be in bed by 10. That doesn’t mean I get to sleep by then but that’s when I aim to start shutting down for the day.

I don’t mind long runs on the treadmill so 14 miles doesn’t sound too bad! I’ll do 12 miles in my treadmill later today.

Best part of the weekend was spending time with some friends we haven’t seen in awhile!

I’m probably doing my long run on the treadmill today – its windy, wet and cold out there. No thanks!

Anything that gives free food is my kind of event

I don’t know if the salad or the chocolate fountain looked better, but definitely the fountain!

I go to bed every night between 9 and 10 and that was even the case for this weekend. I had a pretty good 13 mile taper run yesterday, but the best part was going out for pho last night with my family!

Man, I feel so old. I’m usually in bed watching Andy Griffith at 8. Especially after a 12 hour shift.

Today is going to be the best part of my weekend. I worked yesterday, so I slept in today, I’m going out for 8 miles, and then studying all day. Still not a super fun Sunday, but it’s not work.

The last two nights I’ve been asleep by 9:00. It’s been wonderful!

Do they sell those giant maple bars on the BYU campus or is it only a thing they do during football games or what?

Reply

I like to be in bed by 10:30, I am up during the week at 5:15. So today I can sleep in and I have been up since 2.

The earlier the better for getting into bed! I love going to sporting events especially when I have the club seats and access to all of the food!

Reply

I usually try to get to bed around 10. I’m tired before that, but I somehow never make it upstairs until after 10.

The best part of my weekend was a trail run with friends on Saturday. The miles just fly by!

I’m usually in bed by 9-10pm. Any sporting event that gives free food is my type of game!

I’m usually in bed by 10:30 latest. Weekends are usually different and we stay up so we can watch a movie with out kids.

This weekend hasn’t been great so far. Caught a fly and have been in bed since. My brother in law has his farewell today so I’m hoping that once my body starts to move around it will decide its feeling better.

Ooo was the game with the same gentleman who you’ve been hanging out with lately?! hehe. :)

It sure was! hahah I’m excited. Thanks Georgia! Have an awesome day!

Ughh 14 miles on a treadmill! The longest I’ve ever run on a treadmill was 13.1 and I never want to do that again. Good for you!!

Aside from being stuck in a walking boot, weekend has been great! Loved getting to decorate my friend’s Christmas tree Friday night and loved wine night with the ladies last night!!

10pm is my bedtime basically every night of the week. I’m an old man at heart.

Best part of my weekend was completing my long run yesterday in nice weather… but tomorrow morning it’s supposed to be 42 DEGREES here and I’m freaking out. This is Florida, this isn’t supposed to happen! I need cold weather running tips!

Ideal time for bed: 9 pm.
10 pm if I’m feeling spicy.
This weekend= surviving the snow and enjoying that treadmill life because, ice.
Ice everywhere!

How were you not bored for that long on the treadmill?! I need your energy! I get to mile 6 and can’t take it anymore!

Reply

I usually got to bed between 9 and 10PM. I need my sleep!
Best part of my weekend so far was my trip to Chicago and hanging out with my sister yesterday. Looks like you’re having a great weekend too!

I still really like your white coat. When I first started running several years ago I did all of my runs on treadmills and was fine. But once I switched to outdoor running I now run funky on the treadmill – I’m very aware of what my legs and feet are doing and I can’t stop thinking about it! So I can’t run very long on the treadmill. I think I might go to the gym today and run a short amount on it though so I can add in some other exercise as well. Still trying to recover from knee pain and I’m supposed to start marathon training in 5 weeks so I’m getting pretty nervous. Have a great Sunday!

I like to be in bed by 11am and then I get up about 6 or 6:30.
Best part of my weekend so far was finding a pair of my favorite older model Asics Cumulus at an Asics outlet store last night!

We did not have beautiful weather but we’ve had beautiful snow this weekend!

I have a selfish question!! Do you have your running playlists on Spotify or somewhere else we can access? I need new running tunes for my upcoming race! THANK YOU!!! :) :)

Reply

HEY YOU!! I actually don’t use Spotify but I will be posting my marathon playlist soon!!

Reply

thank youuuuu!!!! You have the best playlists!! ??

Reply

Haha I literally just tried to double tap your treadmill picture (I think I’m still feeling the effects of this morning’s run)

The ideal time to crawl into bed is probably around 10:30 so I’m asleep by 11.

Best part of my weekend was pacing my friend to a ten minute PR in the half! She killed it, and was 1st in her age group! #SoProud

Anyways, hope everyone’s run today is a great one! Now off to work lol

Reply

I would love to crawl into bed at 9:30 every night. I think having more than 8 hours of sleep is a must for me.

The sunshine has been the best part of my weekend.

Reply

My ideal bed time is 9:00! That would prime me for my ideal wake up time of 4:30-5:00. (But realistically, this doesn’t happen too often. : )

The best part of my weekend was making TJ’s pumpkin bars with my daughter and watching Inside Out! We’ve seen it three times already, and just can’t get enough.

A WHITE CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN? WHAT? Never seen that before, or a cougar tail…we do have bear paws here though.

Amazing 14 miler on the treadmill, and I love Mariah Carey!

Reply

I like to be in bed by 9PM ~watch a little news~and lights out by 9:35. My ideal would be to wake at 5AM and work out every morning but I have been super lazy since I started back to work in September and every part of my life has suffered.

(Not sure I made the right decision yet…..)

Reply

Best part of the weekend so far was my 8 mile run yesterday morning and Kevin Hart comedy show last night! Also tried the new fancy donut place in town. Not a 10 inch though!

Reply

Wow, 14 miles on a treadmill! That takes some mental dedication and toughness for sure. I get bored after 3 miles!

Ideal time to crawl into bed: 9pm! I make it a priority too.

Hope you have a lovely Sunday, Janae!

We have some good friends that have extra tickets to the Cougar Club and have invited us to go with them. Once you go Cougar Club, it is really hard to go any other way. #AllTheFood Once we went to a day game and ate all the food and then I tried to run 7miles when we got back home**. Those 7 miles weren’t pretty.

I am usually tired at 2pm, so why I don’t go to bed until 11pm is beyond me. I just don’t make good decisions (**See previous note)

I was able to get in 11.25 miles today at a good pace, however, I am trying to venture with heart rate training, and it is so hard!!!!! I am not the fastest runner, but according to heart rate training, I have to slow my pace dramatically from what I am used to!…

Best part of my weekend was making a pumpkin pie! YUM! Funny thing, I never like pumpkin pie until recently…… weird how taste buds change!

Love the pjs Brooke picked out :D

Reply

Great reminder about using your arms to help when your legs get tired. Also, that cougar tail looks CRAZY good.

Reply

Awe! Brooke is so cute! My daughters are 21 & 18 now and I still remember being so sad when they stopped holding my hand!
Best part of my weekend so far was completing my last qualifying race for automatic entry into the 2016 NYC marathon! So excited hey so very nervous too!

9:30 pm is my “go to” time to be in bed. I’m old! The best part about my weekend so far… my hubs and I got up early this morning to do some Thanksgiving shopping (we’re hosting this year!), and then stopped for a giant bagel with way too much cream cheese. Heaven!!
I love chocolate fountains… but that one’s color looks funky. Was it white chocolate that just looks kinda greenish in the picture? I’m sure it still tasted good. And, can we just take a moment of silence for that maple donut masterpiece??!!!!

Reply

I would love to go to sleep at 7pm every night. I’m just that tired. But I work till 10pm usually. Every day my work schedule is different so I have no consistency in what time I go to sleep or wake up.

Reply

Yum, all that food looks fantastic! And you definitely earned it after 14 miles on the treadmill – UGH! I would hate to run that long on the treadmill, props to you for getting through it!

THAT MAPLE BAR!

Saddest story of my life: I woke up this morning craving donuts like whoa. I wanted all the maple bars and all the apple fritters. The first thing I said to my boyfriend was, “Can we please get donuts for breakfast?” and he said he had a dream about donuts, so of course this was fate. Right? WRONG! The local donut shop was closed (on a Sunday?!?!), so, keeping calm, I drive to the local grocery store, and they didn’t have any maple bars or apple fritters and my heart was broken. I got a Starbucks coffee and cried sad tears into it. The end.

I hope that was amazing!

Reply

mad props for the treadmill patience. i get anxiety thinking about it. ill go run in the rain or in the freezing cold (well I’m in texas, freezing to me is 40 degrees lol) anything to avoid the treadmill. 10 miles on it?? fuuuuuuuuu ugh! good job!

i should be in bed now since i wake up early to run. but alas I’m here
and best part of my weekend was probably the 293875239458 pumpkin pancakes i ate because you know running fuel

Reply

yeah for you! So happy things are going so well for you right now. You deserve it! I can imagine that looking forward to the game/date helped in finishing off those 14 dreadmill miles. ;) At least it would have for me.
Best part of the weekend: Watching each of my kids play a fabulous game at their last soccer match of the season. Still no running for me. Starting PT this week and waiting to see my Sports MD at the UC hopital.

Is that Cougar Tail just a Provo thing or anywhere in Utah?

I’d love to be going to bed by 9 p.m. but right now it’s 5 a.m.

I love the pjs! Don’t the come in a bigger size?

Best part of my weekend? Friday night was spent at Disneyland and Sunday afternoon we watched Tomorrowland. No running but we did walk from the the Disney plaza to the Toy Story lot, the line was way too long!

Reply

This looks like the most fun day ever! I normally want to get in the bed by 10pm every night because I get up at 6am and so I can get my 8 hours in! hahah

What a great day for football! I have been craving Mexican salads lately, and I’m with you: it’s not pretty, but I will clean that plate.

Last night was the end-of-season potluck for my marathon training group. A bunch of runner-foodies in one place = ALL.THE.CARBS! It was great to see everyone’s medals and hear their race stories :)

This has nothing to do with this post—but now, when your blog comes up in my Bloglovin’ feed is says the blog is by someone named Marit Koreneef. Weird!

Reply

i have never heard of a cougar tail but it sounds delicious! i would go to football games too if it included food better than a hot dog! that salad looks pretty dang good.

Reply

I’m not too sure what a maple bar is, but I think I want it in my face.
