2 stops while running, being EXTRA CAREFUL and a bowl of happiness.

Two stops were made on today’s 8 mile (7:39 average) run.  PS preschool has been a win-win so far for us… she loves going there and I love being able to go out for a run while she is there.

First stop during my run—>  my sister’s house.  I had a strong feeling that she probably was missing me big time and really wanted to see me (plus I was thirsty;) and so as I was running by her house I made a quick pit stop!

Second, I stopped to take a picture of this tree because I fell in love with it and it is the prettiest tree I have seen this fall… it needed to be documented.

IMG 0454

I am pretty sure for the majority of the run I thought about how good it feels to be running with a happy stomach.  Maybe I was supposed to miss the marathon at the beginning of the month so that I get to enjoy October running temperatures now… after a marathon I always take a bunch of time off to recover but since I missed it I am out on the roads still:)

After my run I spent some time with the foam roller (my calves get so ridiculously tight).  I am extending my marathon training (ps still not sure exactly which one I will be doing) by a good amount of time which means I need to be EXTRA CAREFUL to avoid injuries.  My body is tired already so injury prevention and loads of rest will be key to get to the starting line.

We got to spend some time after school with some of our favorites!

While we were there Brooke found her new best friend…

IMG 0474

And a few pictures from last night….

Just a couple of Cornbelly’s regulars.  This was the best scary face that I could do.

IMG 0423

We lasted in the corn maze about 2.3 minutes before leaving because they wouldn’t let us run in there.  Rude.

IMG 0419

This food may not look good but it was delicious and my stomach felt great afterwards.  These bowls of lettuce, noodles and chicken were from a Vietnamese food truck and I might just have to follow this food truck around town from now on.

IMG 0417

Brooke actually went to bed at my mom’s house at 6:30 last night (she fell asleep while we were driving there) and slept for 12 hours straight!  We relaxed on the couch while she slept for a bit and caught up with my mom.

Enjoy the rest of your day and we’ll see ya tomorrow!

Are you a fan of food trucks?  Do you have a favorite one?

What was your lunch today?

On a scale from 1-10… 10 being amazing… how was your run today?

It seems like a lot of the big races this fall have happened already but is anyone currently training for a race that is happening before the end of the year?

I still haven’t tried a food truck–lame!

We went to cornbellys over the weekend and learned that you have to go earlier in the day to get everything in. 5:30pm just doesn’t give you enough time with little ones.

I had a turkey and cheese sandwich and Wheat Thins for lunch. It didn’t taste as good with this migraine I have. :/

I did have a good run this morning, though. 1000s at the track! (I usually hate speed work.) I’m training for a half in December, so I’ve got to be ready!!

You never cease to inspire me with your positivity and ability to see the GOOD. I’ve probably said this one thousand times but I always leave your blog feeling so uplifted so THANK YOU :) Also, Brooke sleeping with that chubby cheek and her gorgeous mane all tied up = ridiculously cute.

Wow, thank you so much Jacklyn for your sweet comment!! Seriously… Brooke’s cheeks are to die for:) Hope you are having a fabulous day!

We have a food truck called the Grilled Cheeserie….it’s amazing!!!
Lunch: salad and soup
Run: 8. I did 10×800’s. They were tough but I was super proud!!!
I’m running NYC!

My run was about a 5 today. My legs felt great but it was 79 degrees at 5:30 am! So Cal didn’t get the memo that Fall is here. I got really overheated last week while running in Hawaii so my body was not happy to come home to this.

I’m training for the Revel Canyon City Marathon on November 7th – 3 weeks from Saturday!

Glad things are feeling better!!

I’m running NYC which is in 19 days– ahhh!! I don’t remember feeling this nervous for my first half marathon.

My lunch was pretty average, but my lunch company was pretty great! We have a bbq food truck here that is pretty awesome. And Waffle Love. Yum.

I’ve got Thunder Road Marathon in Charlotte, then St. Jude Marathon in Memphis coming up!

Reply

I’m doing St. Jude too!

No run for me today—last day of recovering from my marathon! I am so excited to resume running tomorrow.
I love taco trucks.
Lunch today was a salad and a toasted homemade bagel.

You are a rock star after all you’ve been through getting back on the marathon train so soon! Then again, I would probably be doing the same!

Reply

I’m glad you are running again. This seriously makes me so happy Janae. I wish you were coming to the RW festival this year though!

My run today was actually quite awful LOL. I had serious DOMS from racing twice last weekend ha ha.

Reply

I just had a half on Sunday, so I’m still resting! I went for a swim yesterday and I’m headed to yoga now, so recovery has been great so far. I’m also running in a local race (Pittsburgh 10 Miler!) next week which I’m super excited about :) Keep feeling better Janae!!

I haven’t been to a food truck in a long time. There’s a good Thai food one in Portland Oregon, and the Grilled Cheese Grill is super good too!

My lunch today was mostly snacking – chips and salsa, a granola bar, an apple and a banana – spread out over a few hours.

I didn’t run again today – it feels weird to not run after all the training I’ve done this year. My quads are still not happy about the marathon I ran on Sunday.

I cannot wait for the day when Brooke is in high school and is on the track team (if that’s what interests her of course!). It’ll be so awesome if one day you and her get to run a race alongside each other. What a sweet memories that would be.

That tree- BEAUTIFUL. While I hardly will ever complain about living in San Diego, I do get bummed out this time of year that we do not have a change of seasons. It is 100 degrees here today! Crazy, right?

You COULD also enjoy running all fall and into the winter and train to break your 3 hours in Spring 2016! Just saying :) Because I know how you feel with loving your running now that your tummy is better. Since I didn’t run a spring 2015 marathon, I had a wonderful summer of running and continue to run happily (um, soooo slowly though) now (I usually get injured or take a bunch of time off after a marathon too). I was just thinking of this for myself – sometimes I get in my head that I want to run a marathon and then when I really think about it, I’d rather just enjoy my current training/running and race again when the big season is upon us (either prime fall or spring) rather than run some random marathon just to run one. As you said, maybe skipping St. George was meant to be!

No run today…going out to throw the baseball around with my boyfriend. I also tweaked my knee Sunday playing soccer. Darn turf…my foot got stuck and did not move…but the knee did. :/

Next (LAST) race weekend…Vancouver BC RnR. I am doing the remix challenge; 10k Saturday, half-marathon Sunday. EEEEKKKKKK!!!!

Reply

BOOOO to you knee… I hope it feels better asap! Holy cow, that sounds like an amazing weekend of running! ENJOY!

I made a big greek salad for lunch. It was perfect!

I love food trucks. Cinnamon Snail, Kimchi Taco, Van Leeuwen (creamy, not too sweet ice cream), Cool Haus (crazy flavors and the best ice cream cookie sandwiches), Rickshaw Dumplings. I could go on.

I love Vietnamese food.

Lunch was scrambled eggs with tomatoes, kale and mozzarella with a side of turkey bacon.

I’m thinking about Amica Seattle at the end of November but it is reallllllllly hilly. BRUTAL.

No running tonight, but hot yoga instead. I am tapering for my first full in Detroit this coming weekend – eeek! It got real when I was emailed my bib number today.
The best part about the trip (other than finishing my first full) is that I get to stop at the Albanese candy factory on the way home, and snag a huge bag of chocolate covered cinnamon gummi bears and several other chocolate covered goodies!!
You have been such a motivation to me thru this training and I am so glad you are on the rebound!

Reply

Good luck on your full this weekend! :) woo woo! You’re gonna rock it!

Janae is awesome-sauce! She has been a great motivation to me too! :)

Reply

Ahhh thanks girls:) GOOD LUCK KATE THIS WEEKEND! You will rock your first marathon. Great call on the candy choice!

Reply

Janae! Josse told me to try using a lacrosse ball or a baseball on your calves. That has been 10x better than a foam roller! P.S. You can thank me later. ;)

My lunch was VERY random… I had a half cup of cottage cheese, grapes, carrots, chocolate almond milk, and a whole lotta Chips and Salsa. You can win my heart if you bring me chips and salsa!

I am training for the half in Philly on Nov 22nd!
My run today was terrible: it started raining as soon as I left the house and I had to cut it short ;(

4+ days until marathon #1. Cross your fingers/pray for my IT band and more warm, less wind.

AHHHHH YAY!!! I totally will. I hope so badly that your body feels great and the weather behaves:) You’ve got this!

I am training for REVEL Canyon City on Saturday Nov. 7. It’s in Azusa, CA in the San Gabriel Mountains. This is actually a race you might consider for your goal race. Huge elevation loss on the marathon course is favorable if you’ve had some downhill training (and there are a couple of uphills to break up the downhill in the second half). I did the half last year and PR’d by several minutes and felt like I was flying down the course. (For a 43 year old, 1:41 was a good time, and I placed in my AG). It’s a relatively small race with no spectators until the last few miles, so if you really need crowd support it’s not the best, and the winding canyon roads are cambered so that can be a challenge, but the beauty of the course and the downhill profile more than make up for those things in my mind. I love a small(er) race and this one is a gem. The only other downside I should warn you about is that you need to be bussed about an hour up to the top of the mountain for the point-to-point course, so you will have an early wake-up call and need to plan the morning fueling well. Another race to consider is Santa Barbara which is being run the same date, Sat. Nov. 7. It’s got a killer hill at mile 23 but the last 2 miles are downhill with gorgeous views of the coast. A nice destination marathon. Plus when I ran it in 2012 you started at a high school and could use their indoor bathrooms — a huge plus. :) CIM would be another one to consider if it’s not sold out. I haven’t run that one though so I can’t comment on that. I’m rooting for you whatever you decide!

AHHH I was totally looking into this one but I think it is a little too soon for me but NEXT YEAR for sure! I am stoked for you and thank you so so much for all of the info, ,it was just what I needed!!!

I am visiting clients this week and the hospital I am at has a great employee cafeteria. I had Salmon Capris and salad for lunch.

My run today was a 3. I had to get up too early and run on the hotel treadmill in a room that was too warm and I didn’t have much time. I’ll be very happy to get home at the end of the week.

I have a 5k on Thanksgiving. I would like to get a significant PR and I will train for it, but ultimately the weather/road conditions will dictate whether I get to put that training to the test. I have plenty of longer distance races scheduled for next year too.

I lovvvve food trucks! My college campus had a ton of trucks, so I basically lived off them in college. Food trucks with breakfast sandwiches are always my favorite.

Lunch today – a salad and apples with almond butter! Dinner was the real winner…spaghetti squash with sautéed tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers and chickpeas.

I’m training with my students for the Philly marathon in November! :)

I am training for a half marathon in December and struggle with my nutrition. I am always on empty! but I keep going! So very glad you are better and running again!

Reply

I love love food trucks! There is just something exciting about them as opposed to restaurants. I had the day off of running, but I am training for the St. Jude Memphis marathon in early December! It’s always a really great race and, of course, benefits an amazing cause!

Reply

I’m training for the Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa at the end of the November! My run today was pretty good, but these peak weeks of training have left me pretty tired!

I LOVE food trucks. Mainly when I’m on vacation. In fact, now that I live in Minneapolis I haven’t even been to a food truck and they are everywhere! Today for lunch I had leftover chicken fajitas and they were so good! I am running the Biggest Loser half marathon on Sunday and then taking a break until Big Sur Marathon training begins in January! Eek!

Oh my Vietnamese food is delicious! That is so great that your stomach handled it well today! I’m a huge fan of food trucks. We have a super yummy biscuit truck in town that we tend to get after church on Sunday’s!

That’s Cupbop isn’t it?! That is my favorite food truck! (Well I have a few favorites…. But that’s definitely at the top!)

My lunch was chips and homemade salsa: corn, black beans, tomatoes, onion, and avocado mixed with lime juice, a little sugar, and garlic salt! So good!

Glad you’re feeling better.

My run was a 7 today – only 7 because of the heat!!
I am running the 1/2 marathon at Rock n Roll Vegas, but not racing. Just doing it for fun as a long run. I am not in racing shape yet.
So glad you ran today and I hope your stomach continues to heal!

No running in the corn maze?? Boring.

My lunch looked very much like yours….a homemade bowl of chicken + noodles, veggies and potatoes.

I have 4 races left this year, 2 half’s and 2 10 k’s. (I just race for fun)

So happy to read that you are back to running and that it feels good!

I have a marathon in 11 days!!!!!! I will be running/walking the whole 26.2 miles this time around. Just bouncing back from an injury so time is really not a big deal for this race
