I hope you are okay with the fact that my marathon will be mentioned on this blog of mine close to 40 times a day leading up to the race…. If I talk about it this much on here, just imagine how many times I am thinking about it a day.
Brooke hiked a mile on Saturday. I told her at the beginning that as soon as her legs were tired that I would carry her. I kept asking her how she was doing along the way as she was charging up the hills and each time she would tell me she was great. On the last hill (ummm my legs were burning a bit so I have to imagine that hers were too) I asked her how she was doing and without stopping she said, ‘My legs are NOT tired.’ When Brooke gets something in her head, she is going to do it. In her head she was going to hike all by herself without being carried and that is what she did.
So, when I am climbing Veyo (a pretty crazy mile long UPUPUPhill at mile 7) I am going to copy Brooke and keep repeating ‘my legs are NOT tired.’ She already has mastered sports psychology. Her mental game is on. She understands the mind-body connection and if she thinks her legs are not tired then they are not going to feel as tired.
Some things from our day yesterday:
-We ran into Candice at Old Navy. She hooked us up with a coupon which made these boots that I fell in love with for Brooke—> free. Gotta love that post-shopping-awesome-deal high.
-Pumpkins are out which means that we have already started to brainstorm ideas for Brooke’s Halloween costume (one of the biggest decisions of the year).
-Spent the night at Laird Park in Salt Lake City. It is our favorite and so worth the drive.
Yep, she was pretending to be a doggie.
-We stayed at the park way past dinner time and couldn’t wait to drive home to eat. You know it must be good if Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives says it is ‘money.’
-Speaking of the Food Network… their instagram makes me drool. I must have:
-Grilled cheese sandwiches hit the spot.
-First of thousands of hot chocolate/marshmallow cups this season.
-This was fun to see on Instagram. Thanks monitorthebeat! I’m excited to see the results real soon.
-I have to share with you Brooke’s current favorite song to sing:
-Women’s Running is having their annual Cover Runner Contest!!! Check it out HERE!
Parents reading—> where do you get your kiddos clothing from?
-Old Navy lately… they have some great stuff and awesome deals.
Have a mantra that you’ve been using a lot? What is it?
What was your dinner last night?
Do you have the same thing for breakfast each morning or do you switching things up?
