Track Party Workout #2 and my new streak…

We made it out to the track again for another workout.  I was sweating like crazy for the entire workout and my glutes and shoulders were crazy sore the day after doing this.  Give it a try!

IMG 1642

Here is the video of how it is done:

Track Party #2:

800m (.5 miles) run.  Run the first lap (.25 miles) at an easy/comfortable pace and the second lap at a hard/faster pace.

30 jumping lunges

12 push-ups w/arm extensions (you can do these on your knees too!)

15 frog jumps

16 elbow to hand planks (switch the leading arm after the first 8).

REPEAT (I repeated this 6 times for a total of 3 miles and a heck of a lot of lunges/jumping/pushups/planks:)

————————————

Just another Sunday where I attempt to kind of match my daughter by wearing a flowery dress like hers.

IMG 1725

I told you about my streak on my Instagram yesterday—> it is my goal this summer to eat something cold and refreshing (think popsicles, ice cream, cold perfect fresh fruit, frozen grapes etc) every day in the summer.

Finally, a goal that I might actually accomplish.

IMG 1731

Two of our favorite guy friends brought over the most perfect steak for us all to eat for lunch on Sunday.  I provided the watermelon…  really pulling my weight around the kitchen lately.

They said they are bringing salmon over next time.  I’m okay with that;)

IMG 1744

We went over to my sister’s house for dinner and Brooke made sure to get in some quality trampoline time.

IMG 1688

My nephew is one hungry boy.  He downs his bottles faster than any baby I’ve been around.  Maybe I should buy the url hungryrunnerboy.com for him in advance.

 IMG 1747

Finished off the evening with a walk/scooter ride around the neighborhood.  Summer is treating us pretty good already.

 IMG 1751

Fun Fact:  Shalane was running around my stomping grounds this weekend.  She even took a ‘soak’ in my favorite place to take an ice bath.

PS I had some people ask about the shirt I was wearing in yesterday’s post… It is HERE (use the code BEST to get 40% off today at Gap!!.. that makes the shirt $13)… Gap sales always get me because now I want this skirt, these jeans and these sneakers… I have a problem.

Happy June—>  Do you have any June goals?!

Are you a popsicle person? Favorite kind?  Are you going to join me in my summer streak?

The highlight of my weekend was the night I spent with my family on Saturday evening. We went to listen to live music and dance, and it was a blast!

Mondays are my rest days, so no workouts for me today. But I want to try the workout you posted–it looks pretty brutal!

I love both of your flowery dresses! And mmm ice pops!!

I read your title wrong initially and thought “she should really rename her streak something other than #2”. I think the fact that I have all boys is showing right now.

Looks like a fun weekend! I am so pumped summer is approaching!!

June goal: kick off my marathon training strong and do more yoga.
Highlight of my weekend was a 7 mile hike with my husband and dog! We climbed 2500 ft over 3 miles which felt lile a mountain to my former Midwestener self.
Today’s workout is 6 miles easy and strength training. Hope you have a great Monday!

Love track workouts! Posting a prenatal one on my blog this week. Running in 400 m intervals makes me feel like I’m a runner still (versus struggling to get a 5k in now!)

My workout this morning was a muncher cruncher workout on my driveway…had to modify slightly and got some crazy looks but I got it done & was dripping sweat! Feeling good.

One of the highlights of my weekend was finding out I’m going to St. George soon! I’m going on vacation with my family in a few weeks…mostly California but we are spending a day in St. George. From what I’ve seen on your blog it looks beautiful. What do we need to do?! (and eat!) Thanks!

Reply

AHHH You are going to love st. george!! It is one of my favorite place in the world:) You have to eat at Bear Paw Cafe for Breakfast, the Mongolian Grill and Cafe Rio of course. Try to make it up to Pioneer Park to explore around a bit and soak in the red rock everywhere you go:) HAVE A BLAST!

You guys look so beautiful in your dresses. I do the same with my daughter, try to match. Lol

Happy June! The honeysuckles just bloomed here so I went for a quick run before work to smell them. It was raining but so refreshing now that our spring temps have returned. It was so hot over the weekend.
My weekend highlight was taking photos for my boyfriends cousins daughter’s first birthday. Lots of great candids. And I got to experience the day from the perspective of a child. It was fun!

Monday’s workout includes a chinup/squat complex that I’m freakishly excited for! I’m going to try pullups for my first couple sets.

That’s awesome Janae and that motivated me a ton. If I ever ran into Shaleme, I think I would be star struck LOL.

It sounds like you had such an enjoyable weekend. For me,I just worked and ran a local 5k. I can’t say it was anything too exciting or thrilling. My goal of June Is to consistently do core work.

I **NEED** to know where you got that dress…. I LOVE Maxi dresses and that one NEEDS to get in my collection!!!

Track workouts are my favorite workouts… they hurt so good and are over fairly quickly…I love that! Plus working out on the track gets me in killer marathon shape!! :) Thanks for sharing your new fave!

The highlight of my weekend was my 6 mile run on Sunday. Huge mile stone for me:)
Monday included a 4 mile run on a new route! (w hills)
That track workout looks intense!

Reply

Hi Janae, do you mind if I ask what size shirt (the cute GAP one!) you wear? I think we’re around the same size but I’m TERRIBLE at getting the right size for me. I always over-or undersize. Since I’d like to order it online, I can’t try it first. #problems

Reply

Hey girl!! YAY for getting the shirt.. you will love it. I bough a Small and it fits perfectly!! Let me know how it works out for you:) Enjoy your day!

Reply

My June goals are pushing past my fitness plateaus.

Reply

Love y’alls dresses!!! Where did you get yours? Its always hard to find a cute dress with sleeves (I don’t wear sleeveless)!

Reply

Hey Anj! I totally know what you mean about a dress with sleeves. The brand is Aakaa and I got it at Soel Boutique. I’ve searched for it online but can’t find it anywhere. You could call the Boutique and ask them to ship one to you when they get more in (I know they ran out pretty fast). Here is their number:

Reply

Question! How long did it take you to break in your Birkenstocks?

Reply

Hey! Mine actually felt crazy comfortable since day 1. I’m in love.

Reply

Shoot. Mine gave me bruises on my feet the first day I wore them for 2 hours :(

Reply

No way:( Send them to me and I’ll wear them for a few weeks and break them in for you!

Reply

lol, very tempting ;) If you wear a size 8 you have a deal.

Reply

I’m still trying to break mine in…and it’s been weeks. :(

Reply

looks like you two pairs coming your way, Janae!

Reply

My top June goal is to continue building my base so I can start training for Chicago at the end of the month!

I was sick in bed with bronchitis all weekend so no highlights … except starting to get my voice back by the end of Sunday.

Reply

Looks like a great workout! My workout goal for June is to start over on the T-25 workout. That one seems to get results for me. Maybe I will do some variations outside when it is nice weather.

Reply

My favorite ice cream is off the shelves right now :( I’m going to have to find other brands until it’s back.

Reply

June goals: Reign in some of my fears and trust God with the future. Plus, get my long run back to a distance considered long.

Reply

Mmm that watermelon! I gotta buy some today! I’ll happily join you in your eating something cold & refreshing every day … I’m already going strong with it with all the ice cream and popsicles I’ve been eating around here. ;) Monday workout = teaching BODYPUMP! Woot!

Reply

Wow, that track workout looks amazing! Thanks for sharing. Monday is calling for 5 easy miles in the sun.

Reply

I did turbofire this morning. I didn’t want to vomit or die like I always did during insanity max 30’s cardio days. Does that mean I am now tainted and will now compare all workouts to it? I honestly didn’t expect to love Max 30 so much. Good thing I will be starting megan’s workouts soon. I KNOW they will kick my trash.

Can I do that workout and just lay down and pretend to be running??

I am all about this streak of yours. I like food goals like that.

I think it should be noted/recognized that I bought that shirt first and I am just so positive it was because of how awesome I looked in it, that inspired you to buy it.

Reply

Awww that video is so cute — Brooke chatting with you while you workout! PRECIOUS!

Reply

I love reading about your and Brooke’s adventures, especially when they include lots of watermelon, which reminds me that I am all out of watermelon and should really pick some up today. Yum! My June goals are completing Weeks 1-4 for my first half marathon training. Reading your blog and a few others has truly inspired me and I am going for it. My Monday workout will consist of finishing the moving process, snuggling my dog, eating watermelon, and hitting up a spin class. I consider that productive. Also, reading blogs of course. Enjoy your monday!

Reply

June goals: ramp up my training for my triathlon in July.
Popsicles: LOVE them and eat them often during the summer.
Highlight of the weekend: seeing a high school friend that I haven’t seen in 25 years… picked up like it was yesterday.
Monday workout: quick 4 mile run with a good friend.

Reply

Is this one of the workouts that your new coach gave you? Less mileage, more plyometrics/strength etc? I’ve done monster mileage for a gazillion years and now I think you’re finally convincing me to do some of this other track stuff. I’m askeered!

Reply

I love your dress! So cute.

This week I have a goal of getting my to do list done before I go down to zions and hike for the weekend with a group of girls.

Highlights from the weekend is that I had a good work out, found a new pair of shorts, and had a great church meeting. We got a new stake president and had a really great meeting.

Reply

If I could lay horizontal and someone take my legs and circle them in the running motion for about 6 – 8 miles for my workout this morning, that would be GREAT.

My June goal is to push myself harder on my workouts rather than falling into ‘easy pace’ every run. <– Okay so I guess I should probably not find someone to run my legs for me this morning??????

Today is going to be a good one! The start of a new month is always refreshing! xoxo

Reply

Question- Where did you get the gray pants you’re wearing in some pictures on today’s post? They look really comfortable!

Reply

My Monday workout is strength training at the gym – woohoo!

Reply

My June goal is to stretch and/or foam roll at least 10 minutes each day!

Highlight of my weekend was a 10K race I did yesterday, my first race and longest distance since a stress fracture 10 weeks ago. It was a great run and I was so excited about it. I was slightly sore this morning so I opted for 2km swim in the pool as my workout!

Reply

That workout looks exhausting and kind of challenging me to try it???!!!

Not huge on the popsicle thing but, I could yet FroYo or ice cream daily!!!

Reply

No June goals as of yet, just working on getting my mileage up as I get ready for a busy fall. I love popsicles…..my son and I both love lime flavored ones or any kind of sour flavor. Highlight of my weekend pool time with my son (he is 9) and watching him test for his TKD midterm – next testing he is testing for Black Belt and he is only 9!!!! Yay!!! Just love reading your blog and you are just an inspiration with how fast of a runner you are and you are an incredible mommy to Brooke. :) Hugs!

Reply

I spent the weekend out of town celebrating my aunt’s 70th bday (she just finished chemo) and spending time with my 3.5 year old nephew and 1-month old niece!!

Monday’s workout was an easy 7 miles…love active recovery!

Reply

Mmm, I can’t get enough watermelon these days! And I love your white Birks!

Reply

June goal is to cut back on sugar… only a few hours in trying to be brave. Today’s workout is riding my bike to work (there’s a ride to work challenge where I live). 22 miles round trip so it ends up being a good workout and fun commute. That track workout looks awesome!!

Reply

June goals. After a miscarriage and a failed frozen embryo transfer I’m ready to get back on the road again and lose 5-8lbs from all the meds. I have a 1/2 marathon in 20 days so I better start training again!

My sister and her family moved in this past weekend for 6wks while their house is being built. We get to train together and the kiddos get to play. Excited for park and pool dates.

watermelon all the way! I get one every week from Costco.

Reply

I love banana popsicles!! I think I can handle a popsicle streak :)

Reply

Bomb Pops are my popsicle jam! Red, white, and blue deliciousness. My monday workout is barre because it kicks my booty into gear like whoa.

Love that floral dress and your cutie lil’ girl.

Reply

I like those pants you are wearing in the second to last picture. Where did you get them?

Reply

That workout looks killer (aka Ass Kicker). I’m going to save that and try it. My husband and I love to do interval training like that with running and strength training. Nice job!!! Looking forward to seeing you this month! xo

Reply

June goal is to get my knee functioning to normal (after knee injury during soccer), so I can run some miles in Alaska in 2.5 weeks! Excited for a vacation too!!

Monday workout will be swimming a few laps. Trying to get my breathing down. :)

Reply

Thanks for posting that workout! I definitely want to try it out. My June goals are to incorporate more strength training with my running. No Monday workout for me since I’m taking a few true “rest” days this week.

Love banana popsicles and would love to participate in the “streak”!

Reply

that looks like a fab workout!
My goal for June is to not run for almost 2 weeks! I leave for vacation on thurs and wont run again until June 16th. I plan on working out every day and seeing if it will help my running

Reply

My June goals are to get back some of the running endurance and strength I lost (I went from 6 miles in under 40min to 4 miles in 40min with walking/stopping every 2-5min, probably from overtraining) and to lift more consistently. Also to listen to my body and take more rest days so I don’t ruin my running again :(

I’m more of an ice cream person! Aka it’s my favourite food.

The highlight of my weekend was having the house to myself for a day!

No workout today, just resting. Feeling guilty because I didn’t do any cardio yesterday either, just played around with the weights, but I’m sore all over today so I guess it was a good workout.

Reply

LOVE the track workout – totally stealing it for my Trackstars group.
One tip you might find useful -> we use GLOVES on the track so you don’t get “track hands” while doing push-ups/planks/etc. They work wonders!

Reply

Whoo that workout looks like a good one! I’ll have to give it a shot…just moved to a new town and don’t have a gym yet, so outdoor/no equipment workouts like this are perfect!

ONE QUESTION though! For the jumping lunges is it 30 each leg, or 30 total (alternating legs)???

Reply

Today is a much needed rest day for me. I had two hard workouts this weekend and my body is feeling a bit rundown.

In June I am doing two awesome races then taking a vacation before coming back to start training for my first marathon, so its an exciting month!

I was just thinking I need to get back to some speed workouts, my long runs are getting slow this season!

Reply

Omg! GAP sales get me every time. Half of my wardrobe is created by GAP sales!

Reply

I’m definitely hopping on the popsicle train for the summer – pregnancy makes me warm all the freaking time!

Reply

Oh wow! I am so stealing that track workout this week. Although, I may not be able to walk the following day! ;)

And, your flowery dress is soooooo pretty!

Reply

I have the jeans…my favorite!! I think you need them for sure :)

Reply

I’m just getting back to running after six weeks off for a sprained ankle. I have a race in two weeks and I just want to survive it! I’m hoping to get back into shape by the end of the month and then start increasing my mileage into July and August!

Your dress! Where did you get that? Love it!

Reply

My highlight of the weekend was passing my NASM personal training exam!

Reply

June goals – get a new half marathon PR, pack my house, move and unpack! Seems totally reasonable, right? :)

Popsicles are the best! I like any of the real fruit ones.

The best part of my weekend was watching my boyfriend run an obstacle race – he’s way tougher than me!

My Monday workout was an easy 5 miles on the treadmill since it was absolutely pouring out.

Reply

Thanks for sharing that workout! I’m going to have to try that :)

That is seriously a perfect workout!
Popsicles are one of the best things about summer!

Hey
I enjoyed doing this workout.
Thanks for sharing the article.
I am an athlete so I loved working out on the tracks again.
