Thursday Things.

I don’t know if you have noticed this yet or not but I love alliteration blog post titles.

Here are some Thursday Things:

-I love to FaceTime my nephew that lives 6 minutes away from me.  You may think he looks like he is afraid but rest assured that he enjoys these phone dates as much as I do.

Screen Shot 2015 05 27 at 8 49 10 PM

-A few days ago I was telling Megan about how stinkin’ good Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies are and how it had been over a decade since my last one.  The next day we randomly came across a stray creme pie without an owner.

Some may say it is a coincidence but I call it a miracle.

-I taught a spin class this morning followed by 2.5 miles on the good ol’ treadmill.  My gym just got these stretch machines and I made sure to test them out.  I almost fell off thirty times.  I like stretching on the ground better.

IMG 1547

-My second most favorite pair of summer sandals are 25% off today.  PS don’t mind my band-aid toe.  It is a battle wound from all of the puddle jumping that I did at the Ogden 1/2 Marathon.   PPS I have veiny feet.

IMG 1567 JPG

-Costco gave us popsicles for samples today.  Neither of us were mad about it.

IMG 1561

-TBT to a picture of Brooke that I came across last night.  PS I am taking the advice that some of you gave me concerning Brooke’s nap boycotting… we practiced some quality quiet time with books today.  Success.

-Because one bag is not enough.

IMG 1562

-These two are expert strawberry pickers and I am surely benefiting because of it.

IMG 1568

-I finally threw away my beloved Garmin 305.  It was painful to say goodbye.  We shared thousands of miles together.  I had it for about 7 years before it broke completely a few months ago and I am now just to the point of being able to let it go.

IMG 1545

-Brooke was more than just a little excited to hang out with my mom and she jumped right in the car.

IMG 1579

-And now I am at the dentist getting my crown put in on the tooth I am pointing to.  Don’t be too jealous.

IMG 1573

-RNR San Diego is going on this weekend.  From Ryan Hall’s instagram…. can you imagine running a 13.1 miles in 62 minutes!?!?

 IMG 1564

This race is definitely on my wish list… WHO IS RUNNING IT THIS WEEKEND?  Who has in the past?

What races are on your wish list right now?

My Thursday night plans include eating a Panera salad and watching my husband’s softball game.

I’ve had my Garmin for about 4 years now and going strong! (knock on wood…)

I REALLY want to run Big Sur, the Great Wall, and the Honolulu Marathon!!

Reply

I haven’t been to Panera in way too long… that sounds so good right now.

Um, can I join you with those marathons!?

Reply

Well duh! I was hoping you would!

Reply

The Bend, Oregon Marathon and Missoula Marathon are on my race wish list right now! I seriously want to run a road race with mountains in the background.
I’ve only had my Garmin 10 for a year, so it’s still working like new.
Tonight’s plans include dinner on the porch and watching Scrubs. I love simple and relaxing evenings.
Happy Thursday!

Reply

Utah has some pretty great mountain marathons too:) Come here! Enjoy your awesome evening:)

Reply

I really want to do a Utah race like St. George or Utah Valley also! I just don’t think I’ll ever be able to race anywhere east of the Rockies unless it’s Boston :)
Enjoy your evening as well!

Reply

I did the Missoula Half Marathin last summer. It was awesome!!

Reply

I’m running Cottonwood Canyon Marathon this fall. First ‘thon in Utah (I’m from Boston!). Any tips for the race? Super excited about it, looks fast and beautiful!

Reply

hahaha the little debbie. I think I’ll just stick to never trying one. It’s probably better that way. That Creamy of Brooker’s though…that I can get on board with.

Reply

What if I crumble it up and put it on top of some Jason’s Deli froyo? I think you would like it.

Reply

Ok…them I’m a solid maybe. Which brings us to another very important point, why has it been so long since we’ve been to JD’s??

Reply

So I am free until mid June.

Reply

Cool. We can facetime about it. #T&L2.0

Reply

Big Sur is #1 on my list!!!

Every bag of Skinny Pop would never be enough. Or Boom Chicka Pop, that stuff is like crack.

Reply

I like the way you think.

Reply

I am running the marathon this weekend! Eeeekkkkk!

Reply

AHHHHHH so so so excited for you! Please let me know how it goes!!!

Reply

I would love to run St. George!! But I’m from houston, so the hills and elevation scare me…:)

Reply

Don’t let that scare you at all! Come do it! Just get some hill practice on a treadmill:)

Reply

Have you noticed it’s much harder to run in higher altitudes? I’ve been to Colorado and hiked, and I noticed you have to catch your breath more. Trying to think how I could prepare/if I need to! Any ideas? I like to plan my training out as much as I can :)

Reply

I definitely notice a difference running at higher altitudes. I would probably just plan on doing a high altitude race for fun (without worrying about time). I would get there at least a few days before the race so that your body had time to adjust and drink plenty of water:) This post might help:

COME RUN ST. GEORGE. It is insanely beautiful.

San Diego was my first marathon!!
Race wish list: I want to run LA next year.
This weekend I’m heading to the beach!
I’ve had a Garmin 620 for 2 years. Love it!
Thursday night plans: veggie burger for dinner (its national burger day) and an early bedtime. I’m doing my long run tomorrow since I’m going out of town. :)

Reply

I’m a fan of alliteration blog titles too!
The boyfriend is coming over. I’m making chicken, artichoke and spinach over pasta.
I can’t wait to hug him. I miss him :)

Reply

I loveee those sandals! Totally going to go check them out now :) And no races planned for me yet this year. It’s so hot in Florida, I’ll probably wait until fall rolls around to get back to a racing schedule!

Reply

I want to run Grandma’s Marathon and Twin Cities is on my list too…esp since my best friend just moved there. There are just so many good races…I want to run in London, Prague and Paris too!

I’ve had my Garmin for probably two years now. I had a different one that I love for probably three years before that and its still working (my sister has it now). I think I’d have to hold on to mine when it poops out for awhile before I could give it away too.

Thursday night plans are very exciting – going to bed early! :)

Reply

There probably a post somewhere, but what watch are you using now? My 305 is on its last life but I haven’t been able to let it go yet. I cant decide which one to buy to replace it.

Reply

Tonight invoke a speed work out, fixer upper, and banana bread.

Reply

I think my Garmin only lasted about 3 years. I was very disappointed in it, especially when the battery died during my second marathon – it quit holding a charge. I replaced it with the Suunto Ambit 2 and love it!

I’m running the Canyon City Marathon in November – training starts in about 6 weeks. I think I love the training as much as the actual race. I need the focus and structure.

Reply

Noooo!!!! I love, love my Garmin 305 and have had it about 7 years too! Mine seems to still be working great but be sure to post the new device you buy and your thoughts on it. Love your blog!

Reply

How in the world did he run a half in such a short time?!?! That’s freakishly fast.

Reply

I just got the same Gap sandals today and I’m obsessed! Great taste ;)

Reply

I have been a marathoner for almost 20 years (PB 3:10) and I have never owned a Garmin. Crazy, hey?

Reply

I have a sign in my office that says ‘Avoid Alliteration Always’. It’s my favorite.

62 minutes is insane. It takes me at least that long to tie my shoes correctly.

Reply

Whenever Costco has SkinnyPop available and we’re there my husband and I ALWAYS buy two! 1) Because, as you said, one bag is never enough and 2) Sometimes they don’t have it for MONTHS!

It’s by far my favorite

Reply

Hey Janae, good luck at the dentist.

I found this link about the types of shoes worn at the Boston marathon and I thought you might like it. You and your Brooks are the winners!!!

My 405 is on its way to the Garmin graveyard too. What did you replace yours with?

Reply

Race wishlist- one of the Disney races and NYC!
Thursday night plans- run 2 easy miles with my dog, drop her off at home, speed work, DINNER, school stuff ( :( )

Reply

I’ve had my garmin for nearly three and a half years, and it’s about to click over ten thousand kilometers!! Love it.

Reply

I would love to do an international marathon and then tack on a vacation.
London or Berlin would be awesome!
I’ve had my Garmin since last May.
I haven’t done RnR San Diego, but I have done Carlsbad and it is STUNNING.
A must!!

Reply

I don’t have any races on my wish list right now. I have my first full coming up this fall, and that’s taking up most of my thinking about races.

I have had a Garmin 10 for a couple of years, but I got a TomTom runner cardio for Christmas, so I’ve been using that one :)

My Thursday night is going to be a thrilling night of lounging and online window shopping for running things I shouldn’t buy.

Reply

How far do you typically ride in your spin classes? I am always curious if I am going a good distance and each instructor is different! In the class I took today I kept wondering how you would have taught it!!!

Reply

-I would LOVE to run anything in Hawaii :)
-I’ve had my garmin for just over a year
-Thursday plans: just glad to be home from work, got dinner on the table, and my baby girl tucked in bed:)

Reply

I have the hardest time letting go of things, even when they are broken to. Sometimes it takes me just a bit of time to let it go :)

Reply

My Garmin 205 (same as 305 minus HR monitor function) died two days before last year’s St George Marathon. I am still in mourning – the new ones just aren’t as good. :'(

Reply

Oh my gosh I had that one for a few years too! Mine didn’t last 7 years… so I’ve been using the Garmin Forerunner 210 for about 3-4 years now and I still love it. Other than the charger is hard to hook up but I hope it lasts me a long time!

Reply

That stretch machine looks veryy weird. I can’t even use normal gym equipment, definitely can’t do that. lol
No Thursday night plans. but hopefully it wont be too bad :) can’t complain while hanging out with my family though

Reply

My Garmin is about 1 1/2 years old, but looks rough because one of my dogs got ahold of it…

As for my race wish list, I want to run the Thelma and Louise half marathon. It is an all women’s race, AND completely flat (completely flat doesn’t exist here in the mountains of NC).

And PLEASE tell me you ate that Oatmeal Creme Pie. You can’t just leave one laying around!

Reply

I enjoy reading your posts soooooo much! I am a beginning runner and am old enough to be your mother, but you inspire me every day. You and Brooke are lovely.

Reply

In November I am signed up for RNR half marathon in savannah, Ga. However, my dream run is next March in Albany, GA! The snickers marathon! Yes, a full marathon! I have only ran half marathons at this point, but so wanting to mustard the nerve to sign up for a full!!! Trying to convince myself I can do it by March! Registration just opened, but I have yet to sign up! 26.2 miles blows my mind!

Reply

I love Costco samples!! And cute shoes!!

Reply

Your mom seems like an awesome grandmother. What a cute picture of Brooke excited to spend time with her.

Wish list: BoulderBOULDER and City2Surf

I’ve had the Garmin 405 for five years now, but I’m probably on my third–the strap always breaks, and I got two refurbished ones sent to me. Now I just use Duct tape, because I’m so sick of sending it back.

I just got home from my second job, so my only plans tonight are watching SportsCenter and then going to SLEEP.

I’d love to run a half somewhere fun!! I don’t know where–maybe Hawaii?? :)

Reply

Running the 1/2 in San Diego! Can’t wait!

Reply

I am doing the half at Rock R Roll San Diego this weekend. It is one of my favorite courses and the weather should cooperate.

Reply

I’ve had my Garmin for about three years now and it’s holding up well. I would replace it immediately if it broke, it now qualifies as “essential”!

Reply

I had to throw away my beloved 305 after the Berlin Marathon this year- it was recording some pretty funky paces on training runs and took forever to find satellites! Do you have a recommended watch that you use now? I find the touch screens so annoying!

Reply

It’s Friday night but my Thursday night included a treadmill run and then pizza. I’ve had my Garmin for just a few months but I’m obsessed with it… I don’t know I ever ran without one!

Reply

My Thursday night included an investment seminar and a trail run. Perfect balance of work and play!

Those sandals are divine!

Reply

Thursday night involved setting up our campsite. Pictures here http://runwright.net/2015/05/29/7426/
Yes, your nephew looks a little scared/sad but I think that’s at the point when you’re hanging up, he’s sad to see you go.

Reply

I hope the dentist visit went well! I love the sandals!

Reply

RNR San Diego is the best. I’ve ran it twice and would do it again in a heartbeat. So worth it. Its like a party in motion. Best RNR race ever.

My Garmin 305 broke and then I fixed it…I still can’t bring myself to get rid of it even though I have a new Garmin. I use it as a “back up”…just in case. I mean you never can have enough run watches. It always gets packed when headed to a race and I can’t tell you how many times it has saved the day for me or another running buddy.

Reply

my number one bucket list race is Boston but I would only do it if I can qualify-gotta keep working! I have run the LA Marathon and had less than stellar experiences (because of heat and lack of supplies) but I will be running it with my boyfriend next year on valentines day! what better way to celebrate than running a marathon?

I have the garmin 220 and love it-I just bought one for my boyfriend as an early bday present who hasn’t taken it off since I gave it to him on Sunday-haha

Reply

I am running RnRSD this weekend!! Training has been off and got sick this past week, so no PR planned for me. I love to run this race every year especially since I have a hook up and run it for free every year! :)

Reply

You have a great site packed with content. Very motivating to read about other runners. I have just done the Bupa London 10k and am starting to think about the training for the Brighton Marathon. Reading other peoples experiences is very motivational. Thanks.
