Some days still sting a little bit…

So, yeah.  There are still some days that sting after a divorce (even though I am coming up on 2 years since I left).  One of those ‘stinging days’ being a wedding anniversary… aka today for me.  Like any trial, it takes time to heal from it and the more time that goes by the better you feel but every now and then it still hurts.  Knowing that today might be one of ‘those days’ —> I have officially declared Cinco de Mayo to be my day to:

1.  Avoid dwelling over the past…  it sure strains our necks to constantly look backwards on things that happened a long time ago.

2.  Continue to move forward.

3.  Celebrate Brookers, I would go through it all infinity times over again to have her!

4.  Continue to love where we are now and to think about all of the great things we’ve got coming in our futures!

This is going to make today fantastic because as you can tell, we’ve got a pretty good thing going on over here.

I’d like to introduce you to the repeat song of the week for me.  I bought this song yesterday and have had it on repeat ever since.

Week two of bootcamp is off to a great start.  I’m still amazed I have stuck with something other than running for this long.

These squats turned into burpees got my heart rate way up there.   We did three sets of 10 thrown in with a bunch of other killer moves during the workout.

A burger, salad and then a sweet potato at home was eaten shortly after.

IMG 0265

Brooke made dessert for me afterwards.  She has memorized my recipe of 6 Tbsp of almond butter per banana and can now do it all by herself.

IMG 0275

PS I will be running the Ogden 1/2 Marathon in eleven days! I’m super stoked to try out a new course and especially this one because I have heard it is incredible!

Who else will be doing the Ogden Marathon or 1/2 Marathon this year?  Who has done it in the past?

Have any races coming up?  Which ones?

Burgers—> yay or nay?

What is going to be the best part about your Tuesday!?

Yes, so much to look forward to for you and Brooke together :) I have a mother’s day 10k this weekend and also running the 5k with my 6 year old, it will be her longest distance and really her first race! And I love burgers and eat them quite often :)

Reply

No races coming up but I had a burger last night and it was delish!

It looks like you’re handling divorce with grace and great attitude. Sending you lots of good mojo on a tough day! :)
Next race: North Fork 50…bring on the trails!
I LOVE veggie burgers.
Best part of Tuesday: my husband and I are going to do some hiking in the Hollywood hills. :)

Reply

I have Utah Valley coming up in 6 weeks! I’m excited for it!

Burgers, of course yay!

Best part of my Tuesday, I’m still off work, so it is still my weekend! Time to catch up on several things after being out of town for five days!

Just remember that you can do hard things – that applies to more than just your running. You are strong and capable and resilient. And you have Brooke! Nothing better than that!

Reply

– I have Rock n roll San Diego coming up on May 31! I’m super excited!
– every once in a while I get a craving for an In n Out burger! I’m also a big fan of Trader Joes Turkey Burger patties. They are to die for.
– the best part of my Tuesday is going to be my morning run. I love running with the sunrise!

I’ll have to look up that half marathon! I may have to try it some day :)

Love that song!! Rough days for me require a little extra baby love, and a good ol sweat session. Nothing gets out bad emotions and feelings like sloppy kisses and sweating it oUt.

Reply

Today was my due date for my first pregnancy that ended in a MMC and D&C last year. I’m now 22 weeks pregnant and going on a babymoon today! It’s definitely bittersweet.

Reply

You have such a positive attitude—I hope you and Brooke have a great day! Sending prayers your way for today!
I’m a bit jealous you’re running the Ogden 1/2 marathon. I visited Ogden for a research conference three years ago and have been dying to go back! Maybe next year I’ll do that race. So far I don’t have a race until October and I’m itching to sign up for another soon!

Reply

Love that song, it reminds me a ton of Boston this year for some reason. Kind of like my theme song for the race. :)

I hope you stay busy today, and enjoy all that you have- I love your attitude about it all. Seriously, staying positive about things makes a big difference and negativity and/or dwelling won’t help anyone. Enjoy time with Brooke!

Reply

My goal was 12 half marathons this year (1 a month). I did half marathon #5 last Sunday. I raised money for kids in the area fughting cancer & ran for them. . ツ im throwing in a full marathon in October this year at the Cape. It’s a half marathon on Saturday & a full marathon on Sunday. It’s called the clam chowdah challenge ツ this is one of my strongest running years!

Reply

You have such a positive attitude even when times are tough. I have shared with you before that I went through a similar divorce (without a child) in 2010. I have since remarried and had my first child in the last five years and sometimes the hurt of those earlier days resurfaces, even with all the goodness of today. The hurt might not ever go away completely but we sure do become stronger women and learn valuable lessons. I feel like I am a much better wife, mother, and friend because of the experience! Have a happy day:)

Reply

Oh how I know about dates still stinging. While my husband died vs divorce I still find my wedding anniversary to remind me of all that I missed out on with him. We actually didn’t make it to our first anniversary thanks to cancer. But I promise you someday you wikl find this day stings less. And frankly you were happy that day regardless of what happened after.
Hugs to you.
I have the brooklyn half coming up 5/16 And I love that fight song!

Reply

I think there will always be days that sting a little. But, I think that just shows that you’re human, you know?!

Today may not be the funnest of days for you, but it’s Cinco De Mayo. So, you can drink margaritas allll day! ;)

Looks like you are killing the bootcamp! Way to go!

Burgers? Really?! Is that a serious question? YES! YES! YES! I love burgers!

What is going to be the best part about my Tuesday? I’m really looking forward to my coffee. Haha! No, I have a run planned with some coworkers after work that should be nice.

Reply

My next race is probably small local 5k. Next big race: Rock N Roll Chicago Half.
Like burgers, but I usually have to be in the mood.
Best part of my Tuesday: watching 19 kids and counting tonight. I love the Duggars and I’m excited for Jill birth episode!

Reply

I haven’t raced in a while but am thinking of doing a 5k in a few weeks! It’s been a LONG and draining road to recovery and just school year, in general, for me (I’m a teacher). But hopefully I can get back to racing again soon, because I miss it!

Burgers are a definitely YAY! I could eat burgers every single day. I want one now that I’m talking about it.

The best part about Tuesday is going to be the moment I crawl into my bed. Working two jobs is a bit exhausting, and I have tomorrow completely off (got a sub :)), so I can’t wait for that.

Hope today is a POSITIVE one for you! Every challenging experience is a lesson in life that can make you STRONGER than you ever thought possible!

Reply

You’ve really got the best thing going on with you and Brooke!

That song is really really great to play over and over again!

Races that I have coming up? The lilac festival 5k (hoping for a PR of under 29:31) and my first 8k on the 23rd! :]

My favorite burgers are salmon burgers.. tried one the other day and fell in LOVE!

Best part of my day is always getting out for a walk and lunch and then a run after work! :]

Reply

I had a stressful day at work yesterday, so I impulsively signed up for a 10-miler that I’ve been debating about for awhile!

Hang in there and hug Brooke LOTS!

Reply

Hope you find some happiness today. Divorces are never easy, but moving on and focusing on the future helps. I’m running the Picie Dudt Challenge this weekend at Dusneyland and my goal is AG awards in the 10k and half!

Reply

How fitting! I’m reading a book with readings for everyday to help you with positive thinking, and today’s reading focused on the story of Lot’s wife and urging us not to look back on the past. The universe wants us to focus on the great futures we have ahead of us :) have an amazing day focusing on yourself and that beautiful daughter of yours!!

Reply

Hang in there, Janae! Grief from a loss is so unpredictable and progress does not always feel linear but you are so strong and have an amazing life!

I love burgers. If it’s a bison burger, then I am ridiculously happy.

Best part of Tuesday: a rainy run (done) followed by a cool down walk w/ my dog. I do love the rain and am happy to be able to wear my bright orange rain jacket!!

Reply

You continue to inspire!!

Go get the beautiful day you and your daughter deserve!!

XOXO,

“it sure strains our necks to constantly look backwards on things that happened a long time ago.” – This is a great quote!

I have a love/hate relationship with burpees. I might have to try those, my favorites are the ones where you do a high knee frog jump and slap your knees with your hands. They will really whip your tush.

Also a big juicy BBQ burger with bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce and a side of sweet potato fries is my favorite summer treat. Tomorrow I am posting the most amazing sweet potato fry recipe. My mouth is watering now, thank you!

The best part about my Tuesday is the bank meeting to get the loan for the house that we are buying eeek!!!!!!

Reply

Thinking about you. Your attitude is always so impressive.
Burgers, yes!!!!!
Best part of today, retail therapy.

Reply

* I’ve got my first 5k in about six months, coming up in a couple of weeks. I’m hoping for a PR!

* Yes to burgers. All the burgers. All the time.

* The best part of my Tuesday is going to be taking my little dude to the library after daycare, and then to the pool to watch his big brother at swimming lessons.

Those squat burpees look like pure evil! I can’t believe you were both smiling while doing them – that’s amazing.

Hope today is full of lots of fun and joy and good feelings for you, and no looking back :)

Reply

You are so strong, and I love your positive outlook on the situation! So the best part of my day so far was just having munchkins delivered to my office for teacher appreciation week:) Not a bad way to start a Tuesday!

Reply

I love your positive perspective. That fight song is AWESOME! And Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

Reply

I am doing a sprint tri in July and then I am debating about a trail half in August. I love trail running, but it is so much harder than road running, so I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to do the half (at least not well)! I should decide soon. :) I love burgers and when I go on my vegetarian stints (somewhat frequently), I love making black bean burgers because I think they are just as good.

Reply

I love your positive attitude! I think that is the best thing to not only do for yourself, but also for Brooke. My next race is the Chicagoland Spring Marathon on May 17! I’m a huge burger fan. I especially love stuffed burgers. Now I’m hungry.

Reply

I wish I had a half marathon coming up! Long distance racing down here in south florida ends in February because it starts getting super hot early in the year. I hope you have a great time! I bet that course is just beautiful.

I haven’t heard of the fight song before – but I’m going to go check it out! Based on the lyrics I think it’s the perfect theme song for you this week!

Reply

I’m obsessed with that song as well, and listening to strong lyrics like that can really help during a tough time. Hope you have a great day :)

Can’t wait to hear about the half! I have one coming up in June, but also a 5-miler next weekend. Can’t wait to see how my fitness is!

I love the ogden half!!!! It is by far my favorite race of all time, plus they have the best support of all the races. Your gonna love it!!

I have my first half marathon the day after yours! I am a little nervous, but really excited to finally make my goal of running a half marathon become a reality!!

Keep up your positive outlook! You and Brooke are doing great!!

I love love your attitude.

I have a trail run next Saturday….my first race on the trails. I’m super excited and I’m super excited that it is finally sunny outside. My skin needs the vitamin D!!

Have a great Tuesday!

Reply

Yes to burgers! I love putting turkey or veggie patties on top of my salad.

I’ve never run Ogden, but a lot of people in my running club do the marathon every year. It sounds like a great course. Enjoy!

Reply

You’re so right! Think positive thoughts today, and think ahead. No races for me coming up, but I have been running on the treadmill more in Orangetheory these days. Happy Tuesday!

Reply

I totally believe every thing happens for a reason!!!! Oh, yea Brookers is your reason for sure!!

Reply

I am approaching my first anniversary this month after splitting up from my husband, and that song has been on repeat EVERYDAY for the past month! You are such an encouragement to me!

No races on the books for now, but I am considering a half in August….in Texas….I’m sweating just thinking about it

Reply

Burgers!! Oh yeah! Love them.
It’s a bit of a bummer day here as well. May 5th is my mother in law’s birthday, and she just passed away in December. We miss her a lot.
Keeping positive thoughts today though. So much in life to be thankful for!! Keep up the good fight :)

Reply

http://youtu.be/9g0tId7g7u8 I envite you to watch my running team’s lip dub to “Fight Song”
Keep your chin up today!

Having been there, I can assure that Cinco de Mayo will be soon be a day of chips and guac with a side of burrito – it really will become what you make of it with little to no energy towards the past.

Running this weekend in the Mother’s Day half (on Saturday). It’s a trail run. Can’t wait!

I love burgers! Usually I do the veggie variety, but every once in a while, it’s all about In N Out.

Divorce is tough!! I planned to be married forever and never ever get divorced but ended up marrying an alcoholic who chose alcohol over me and our daughter :( This was a good 12 years ago (at least 12 years ago) so all those feelings are a thing of the past. Things were toughest in the beginning but I decided to focus on the positive and move forward also. It was those stressors that got me fast walking everyday, which led to my running. I also agree, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat to have my daughter here on earth.

Exciting day for me, my new running shoes are on the truck out for delivery today :) :) They are the Newton Kismet shoes in purple (I have the blue) and I use a Powerstep Pinnacle insert due to high arches. I wore the Brooks Pure Connect 2 and the Flow 3 in the past and these are similar to the Flows. I got Newtons support shoe after IT band problems (I started heel striking on the long run in my Brooks shoes when I got tired and as a result, my foot would turn in). I got the Newtons for the first time right before a half marathon. I knew they say don’t do it but I figured it was get something to help me forefoot or mid foot strike or not do it after all of my training and they saved me!

My husband has a triathlon on Saturday and on Mother’s Day, we are headed to the beach for an early morning beach run. The sand is a better (softer) surface for me to run on along with the treadmill. Within the next year, I am going to do a Disney half marathon (so excited I got in). :)

Do something good for yourself and Brooke today or make a new tradition for today. Eat some place new or take a hike together but make it a fun day!!

Reply

I will be flying out West and running the Hippie Chick Half this weekend in Portland! First time I have ever ran a race on my birthday!! I cant wait!

Reply

No races planned post Boston. Just taking the time to relax and recover properly before I start training this summer for NYC! I will be running a few halfs, the first in June, but nothing too crazy :)

The best part of my Tuesday will be celebrating Cinco De Mayo with my local run club for a post-work run and then finishing at a local Mexican restaurant for tacos!!

Reply

Don’t try and be tooooo tough today. It’s good to have perspective and to be thankful, but our bodies/minds need us to really grieve it all out, too. I’m sure you’re doing all the right things; I’m just speaking for myself. I try to see the happy rainbow unicorn confetti in everything when quite often I need to sit in the middle of my big mess and just wail.

Reply

I am doing the Lake Nona Florida 2nd annual half marathon with my best friend from college (she lives there with her family). A couple weeks before that is the Chicago marathon – my first marathon ever!
Hamburgers – absolutely!
I am looking forward to some Cinco de Mayo food tonight after spin and yoga (and hopefully no more rain).
Hope you and Brooke have a fantastic day – I think some froyo should be on the agenda for sure!

Reply

I haven’t run the Ogden Half by itself but I’ve run the full marathon several times (my fastest time is on this course). Definitely one of my favorites. And, lucky you! – you get the easier half: an uphill at the start but then 5 easy, not-quite-rolling miles, 6ish screaming fast miles down the canyon, and 2 flat miles through town to finish.

I’m training for a half marathon in June (starts at 10,000 feet and ends at 8,000 -this may be tough since I live at sea level) and a full marathon in November (starts at 6,000 and ends at sea level).

Reply

wishing you and Brooke an amazing day today x

Praying for you today! Don’t forget to add a #5 to your list and enjoy some DELICIOUS Mexican food!

Reply

Thinking of you today. I love what today is going to be about for you moving forward. xo

Reply

You are so awesome! I love that you are super positive but also really honest- your blog is the best!!! You truly inspire me and I hope something unexpectedly wonderful happens to you today!
:)

Reply

I love your attitude about looking forward! sometimes we get caught in the trap that continually dwelling on past events is “processing” them. Really it’s just dwelling and spinning in circles over them. Healing only comes when we look forward and build up. I love that you acknowledge tough days, they happen to all of us, but they are only a problem when we let them counteract all our hard work.

Reply

I love the simple Japanese proverb: “Fall seven times, stand up eight” and “embrace the pain and burn it as fuel for your journey.”

…Plus it is Cinco de Mayo aka eat all the chips and guac day ;)

Have a GREAT day girlfriend!

Reply

I have a half coming up in less than 3 weeks and haven’t run more than 7 miles. Hmm maybe I should do something about that.

Good perspective on the anniversary. It’s all about how we choose to view things :)

Reply

Your positive outlook is contagious! I know its not always that easy though, to be positive all the time so your ability to allow yourself to feel whatever it is you’re feeling is so healing. Thinking of you today.

I am running the Rock ‘n Sole half in Milwaukee on June 13. Its coming up quick!

This song was exactly what I needed right now! The last 365 days has been a major suck fest for my life: broken up 3+year relationship, one of my sisters passed away unexpectedly after a short but serious illness then 50 days later my dad passed away, also unexpectedly. I need something to push me on and tell me that I really CAN do this!

I love.love.love. burgers…but with a gluten free bun…if anyone knows of an amazing GF burger bun please pass on that info…they usually fall apart with the moisture of the burger leaving me with a sloppy (but delicious) mess!!

I’m running the Spring Chicago Half Marathon in 12 days!! Woo Hoo!! This will be my fourth half marathon but most of them have been the Rock & Roll Las Vegas so I’m kind of excited about the new scenery – and day light running!

Reply

Wow, Michelle–you have had more than your share of pain lately. You are in my prayers.

If you lightly toast the GF bun it keeps it more together!

Reply

Thank you for both the prayers and the tip!!!

Reply

Michelle, I wish I could give you a big hug. I can’t even begin to imagine what you have been through but you will be in my thoughts and prayers. You can do hard things! Good luck at your 1/2 marathon coming up, please let me know how it goes!!!

Reply

Sending you hugs today sweet girl!

Those burpee squat things look brutally awesome. I may just have to incorporate those into my Total Body Conditioning class this week. My class is going to love me for it! ;)

Heck yes to burgers!! They’re a summer staple!

Reply

Remember how we met for the first time when you came and ran part of my marathon with me!! You’re the best ever. I’m doing the Ogden full. Wanna come run the last few with me again? Ha! I’m scared. Love you! Go eat some guacamole and froyo today.

Reply

Yes burgers!! I’ve got a turkey burger and salad for lunch today.
I don’t really know what the best part of today will be. I try not to predict since sometimes the things I look forward to go badly and the tiniest unplanned moments wind up being amazing.

Reply

I love you girl. You are strong and have definitely grown so much and become even stronger over the last 2ish years! I am glad you are happy with where you are. As you should be. You should be proud!

I did those same burpees yesterday during my workout. Blerg.

Burgers = yay. It will also probably be what we eat for Sunday/Mothers Day dinner, since none of us want to cook on mothers day. Gotta keep it simple, yo. But the amazingness of a hamburger is dependent on the toppings. Avocado, bacon and grilled pineapple take it up like 10 notches.

The Ogden half marathon course it beautiful. Running through the canyon is lovely. O-town is my home town. Word.

Reply

Hey – i’m 6 months out from my divorce being finalized and that song you shared, this is my fight song, was amazing to hear today. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

I’m training for my first 50 miler and trying to get my nutrition nailed down – what type of burgers do you use, or do you make your own?

Reply

Burgers are VERY yay for me. I could eat them every day. I love loaded burgers with bacon, cheese, avocado and maybe even an onion ring thrown in for good measure.

I have a 10K race this weekend. First 10K race in almost two years. Time to smash a PB

Reply

Burgers for sure!! Although I’m trying to cut back on carbs so I probably should be eating them without the bun…but it’s just not the same:(

Reply

Burgers yay! I had a burger with sweet potato fries for dinner on Sunday. Easy to make with little clean up afterwards.

Reply

Toddler hugs are truly the best! Honestly. I’ll be doing a 5k this weekend on Mother’s Day. First “race” with the jogging stroller and toddler in tow!

Reply

I have ran the Ogden half twice and I absolutely LOVE it!!! It’s a very well organized race and the volunteers are just awesome. Running down the canyon is such a treat. I’m planning on coming back every year because it has a special meaning to me.
This year I will be running the full marathon. It’s my FIRST full and of course I just knew I had to pick this one :) Any advice?
Good luck on your half! I’ve been following you for awhile now and I think you are great. You have inspired me to keep running even on those days I don’t feel like it. Your daughter is beautiful and I have no doubt all things will work out.

Reply

I’m running the Ogden marathon. Full #2 but a little undertrained due to an annoying calf strain. I ran the half two years ago as my first ever race. The course is really beautiful and very fast – although when I ran it was raining nonstop and pretty cold. Hoping for better weather this year!

Reply

I’m totally obsessed with “Fight Song” too! Check out her other song “Lone Ranger”, very much so about being OK on your own and independent, I like it a lot.
Keep your head up, you rock, I admire your attitude and am glad you have Brooke too as a positive light in your life!
Burgers – YAY!

Reply

I would like a burger, a sweet potato and a salad right now. Weird, I know. I’m just hungry.

You have done a great job and time will take care of it all, right? Those dang anniversaries always bite us, no matter what the anniversary is for we do tend to wear it.

Reply

Oh sweet lady! I so understand that pain. But having been through this myself, I know that going through it only makes you stronger and makes room for the good. Take care of yourself & have fun with Brooke!

Reply

Is it weird that I thought of you when I first heard that song? Keep up the great attitude. Hamburgers + warm weather = bliss!

Reply

Don’t you love how they send you a brochure??
I’ll be doing the FULL!! AHHHH….my very first marathon and I’m super nervous. I haven’t ran the Ogden half before but I’ve heard nothing but great things about the course. I also drove the course Sunday and ran the last 3 miles up and back. It’s beautiful.

Maybe I’ll see you!! I’ll be the one looking like a deer in the headlights!

Reply

Hope you have a wonderful day! Way to keep looking forward. I have a race on the schedule mid-June, but since my ankle is still really painful, I’m thinking I’m not going to be able to make it. I’m staying positive though!

Reply

I’ve only been following your blog for a few months now, but just wanted to offer that I think you have a great perspective on life in general and you are a great role model for Brooke. Congrats on moving forward and taking it one step at a time!

Have a couple small events coming up but nothing I’m racing, just fun ones!

Burgers- yay x1000! Love a good home-style burger. Fast food ones do not make the cut.

Tuesday will be great b/c it is the intersection of Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday. Epic!

Reply

Hey, at least you have a pretty good reason to down a couple margaritas unlike the rest of the lushes today ;o)

My brother’s girlfriend has been through the ringer with her ex over her son’s custody. She says every day her son looks at her with his big blue eyes is worth it, though.

Hang in there, runner chicka <3

You go girl. Stay strong!

I surprised my brother last night and flew into NYC for 24 hours. His 30th was a couple weeks ago so we celebrated that along with Cinco de Mayo Eve! Margaritas and Mexican food for the win!

Before heading to the airport, I will prob stop by Levain Bakery to get a giant cookie which I’m thrilled about :) – http://www.levainbakery.com/

Janae I know exactly what you mean about days that still sting. This month makes 3 years since my separation and it has gotten easier but anniversaries are still pretty tough! I deal with it by filling my days with stuff to keep me busy and then I allow myself 5 minutes to think about what the day is and was supposed to be. Hold your head up high and remember that as much as your life is not what you thought it would be it is at least 100x better!

Reply

Love your boot camp. Looks a lot like my crossfit cardio class that I am headed to today.

Burgers are the best, they are my crave food these days.

Wishing you good thoughts today.

I am running the full in Ogden and am hoping for a big PR (sub 3:14). I have never run it before but have heard great things. I am driving over from Wyoming to do it. :)

Burgers is a nay for me – I am a vegetarian and typically do a veggie burger sans bread!

Reply

Well you just introduced me to my new favourite song!

Reply

I am running the Ogden marathon. This will be my first marathon, and I’m a little nervous. Watching you train for the Boston has kept me inspired and motivated. I did the half last year and you’ll love the course. The best part is running down Ogden canyon along the river. P.S. it is mostly downhill. Good luck!

Reply

You can get through just about anything with that attitude! There will always be days that are still tough but that is what makes us human. You are not any weaker because you have feelings and emotions.

I’m doing my FIRST half marathon in 12 days!! I’m so excited! Best of luck with Ogden!

Reply

I love your positive attitude!! You can do hard things.
Sending you happy thoughts and prayers today!!
I definitely have to put a Utah race on my list – it is so pretty there! I’ve always thought St. George would be fun.
I love, love a great burger!
The absolute best part of my Tuesday is that my Dad is flying out today!!!

Janae you are a wonderful gal, and day by day stronger! The best part of my Tuesday is going to be getting off work and playing with my kiddo!

We all have our up and down days and we all have a choice whether to choose despair or joy. Happy to see you chose joy. For no reason really whatsoever I woke up Monday morning with the blues and they are still hanging on. You have a cute little one and looks like you are soaking up all she has to offer in her stage of life right now. Keep on keeping on.
I am running a half marathon on Saturday in memory of my mom in the town I grew up in and also the town she is buried. She died when I was 14 and I signed up to run in her memory last year and ended up with a 3rd degree ankle sprain 3 weeks before. I ran one 3.1 leg of the half and called it good but had to try again this year. This week is a taper week and maybe that’s my problem. I am not injured and so thankful. Hopefully I can set a PR but telling myself OVER AND OVER to finish strong and uninjured is an amazing accomplishment for me so take what I get and give God the glory and count on a high five from my mom in heaven.
I love a good burger. Actually my husband and I have split a burger and fry meal the last two Friday nights at a local restaurant in our little town. From this day till Saturday it’s carb time for me! Gotta love it. May God bless your good attitude and perseverance through the hard times. PS. I don’t like burpees. :)

I’m doing the Ogden half too!! I’ve done it sooo any times. You will love it and get an amazing time. It’s a super fast course as I’m sure you know. Hope you don’t get creeped out if I see you and introduce myself. Good luck!!

I don’t know how you do it. You truly are an inspiration. <3

awe girl. You are so incredibly positive. !
a race in 11 days.!? awesome. I think that’s the same day as my race also.. I should probably figure it out. haha but I also have a half marathon coming up in less than 2 weeks.
burgers are a nay for me. Was never a big fan of them, especially now that I’m a veggie.

I love your positive attitude, and that you’re turning today into “Celebrate Brooke Day!”

What’s the best part of my Tuesday? I just got my upstairs air conditioning fixed! Yippee, I can sleep comfortably tonight!

I hope you have an AWESOME day today– do everything that makes you happy! I’ve recently realized how helpful it is to think of how many things I am grateful for (and literally list them all in my journal!) because it immediately pulls me out of a funk and makes me happy! Best part of my tuesday = sitting on the porch eating a delicious salad for lunch. I love that it’s finally warm outside :)

All the love girl! You are a freaking rockstar. Thanks for being such an example & an inspiration to me and to everyone around you! xoxoxo

That song is amazing, btw.

I will be at the Ogden half marathon as well. This is my second year and it is an amazing course. The start was a bit chilly last year but it warmed up by the finish. My hubby and I talked about it all year and are so excited to do it again. Even the aid stations rock (themed).

Ahh Brooke hugs are adorable!!! You two are amazing. Burgers are definitely a YAY.

Best part of Tuesday: I made homemade caramel cinnamon rolls for the first time ever and they turned out pretty well! Now I will probably end up eating all of them myself :s Cravings!!!

You are an inspiration. Hopefully in the future this day will bring only happiness as the pain fades and the date is only representative of an event that set forth Brooke being brought into this world :) My son is about her age – isn’t it fun!? Every day he comes out with something new. Today he called his baby brother “sweetheart”. Which would have been really sweet if it wasn’t in the context of “Don’t you ever, EVER touch my puzzle again, sweetheart.”

I have a half June 28th – just a local/small but pretty coastal one in RI. Your Boston blogging motivated me to sign up for the Wine Glass full (my in-laws live in the finger lakes in upstate NY so it’ll be a family visit/race trip) in October and the Disney full in Jan. Thanks for the motivation! Now let’s just see if we can get that BQ….

Stay strong lady! You’re doing such a great job!

I know how you feel lovely lady and yes some days it does suck really bad, and speaking from experience, time will heal and it will be just a memory, and out of it you have your amazing little Brooke. Everything happens for a reason as painful as the experience may be but we either learn from it, may make us stronger, or in your case you received a precious gift, Brooke.

Say it isn’t so, don’t tell me you smooth Nut butters on your bananas too? ha ha ha I assumed I was the only one who did this for breakfast, my faviourate is almond and cashew but I do also secretly enjoy peanut butter ha ha ha have an awesome day honey, with love to you

Yay! You are doing great!!! Can’t wait to hear about the half!

Best part of Tuesday was getting out early for a run because then I spent the entire day stuck behind a computer writing (I’m not really complaining)

I just went through a breakup of a long-term relationship – not a divorce – but I still feel the sting on certain days/with certain things/certain songs …

I think you posted the quote in an earlier blog post that ‘time passes and pain turns to memory.’

Great song as well – totally on repeat for the day!

It’s all the bad times that bring us to the good times…. I split with my long term partner a few months ago, last month i started back to the running which i found to be the best therapy. Well, that and actual therapy… :)

I’m flying to Utah on Tuesday from San Antonio to do the Ogden marathon! Maybe I’ll see you there! I’m excited! But I hope I don’t freeze!

When you first told us about your divorce, my husband I had separated. It has been 2 years, and the paperwork is just now being filed by us. We were both reluctant and embarassed to admit it didn’t work out. I am still sad, everyday. Even though I know it was ultimately for the best. I am still sad….everyday. Even the best days. I will be picking up my paperwork from the post office this week. Officially filing for my own “D-word”. But I am sad, everyday. You and Brooke, inspire me, everyday. That it will really be ok. It will sting sometimes, but it is going to get better.

And, although I read this post yesterday, and I’m rereading it today to comment. I really want a burger, now. With extra pickles.

I just finished the Broad Street 10 miler on Sunday, and have a 5 k coming up on Mother’s day.
My running team has tagged “Fight Song” as our anthem. We’ve raised over $600,000 to fight cancer and made a lip dub for the song. I can’t watch it without crying. Bit.ly/cmmddub

I hope you and Brooke had a wonderful day!

I’m glad to hear you are thinking positive. I left my husband two months ago
and it’s really for the best for our daughter but so hard. I try to look forward too
Having a child I think helps. I would do it all over again for her. I wish of course she
Didn’t have to go through this ( she to little to know yet) but I’m so thankful
to have her at my side
