Blue Apron–> I love the experience!

First and most importantly—> The first 100 readers will get two meals off their first Blue Apron order free!!  Go HERE to get this special offer!

Blue Apron delivery day is always an exciting day at our house.  When this box arrives it means that we are about to have some amazing meals at our house! It means that we are getting a bunch of delicious farm-fresh ingredients without having to go to the grocery store because everything is delivered right to us in exactly the right proportions!

Avoiding the grocery store makes both of us very happy:)

The thing that I love most about using Blue Apron is the experience side of it all.  Blue Apron makes it so that we just get to do the fun part of cooking.

I invited my mom over for two of the meals because we have always loved cooking/baking together and she loves amazing food just as much as I do.  Cooking a meal together and talking while we cook and eat at the table trumps going to a restaurant together in my opinion.

My mom and I are both huge fans of steaks so I knew she would love the Sirloin Tip Steaks with New Potato, Asparagus & Radish Hash!

All of the meals that I have made with Blue Apron take about 40 minutes (or less) to prepare.  Those 40 minutes are a blast because we are able to chat and each recipe teaches us some new cooking tips or tricks.  These recipes especially help me get out of the rut of making a sweet potato and salad every night for dinner. I love how Blue Apron pushes me to branch out and try new things!

We licked our plates clean, it was that good.

The second meal that we made together was the Laotian Larb Gai with Sticky Rice, Peanuts & Mint.

IMG 1065

This was a meal that I wouldn’t have ever thought of making on my own but I am so glad that I had the chance to because I LOVED it.   It is fun to know exactly what is going into your meal and how it is all prepared.

And just like that… I wish I had another plate of this to eat right this second because the pictures are reminding me of how good it tasted.

I really wanted to test out how Blue Apron would work as a gift for other foodies.  My aunt loves good food and so I wanted to give her a meal as a gift so she could try it out too!

She even sent me some pics of the cooking process.

She said she loved the way that the salmon turned out and that it was all so flavorful and fresh!

I got this same delivery when I got back from Europe and it was AMAZING! I agree with you that the Larb Gai. It didn’t sound that great to me, but after I made it I was obsessed. Really good and I’m going to be making it again soon!

I know a lot of people swear by Blue Apron. It’s never been something I’ve gotten into! We’ve made a few of their recipes and they are good but I think we just stick to more simple foods. I’m glad it works well for you though Janae!

Hi Janae! How nice of you to include others! I finally got to try Blue Apron a few weeks ago and cooked up the meals with my husband. It took about an hour (longer than expected) but was SO fun to try new-to-me cooking methods. Such a cool service!

I want to try this out so badly. I do not eat meat so I think it would be a fun way for my whole family to try veggiesaurus meals. I tend to stick with wraps and chipotle salads hahaha.

This is a great idea! I spend almost $8.74 per person just for the salmon I buy for dinner once a week. Loved your accompanying pictures!

My post is on Blue Apron today too and I am giving away a week’s worth of free meals to 5 people! I love it so much; it’s my favorite!

I have been getting Blue Apron since one of your other posts on them. LOVE the dishes and I’m eating healthier!

That makes me so happy Tracy!!!

Seems like a cool concept! I’m not a super picky eater but I am particular about meat… I usually stick with chicken, which makes most of my meals pretty boring. This would probably help me branch out a little bit more!

Just curious about how they are shipped- are they in a lot of boxes and plastic wrapping? The dishes sound delicious, but I try to think about the impact my food choices have on the environment and try to avoid things that are overly packaged and boxed. Just wondering if you could provide some insight. Thanks!

Reply

Hey Lori! Great question! The produce isn’t usually wrapped in anything and the rest usually comes in little plastic containers. Any liquids come in little plastic bottles. I personally don’t feel like it is overly packaged but that is just my opinion. Thanks Lori and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Yum, and your finished plates looked so pretty! I may have to try Blue Apron.

My fiancé and I have started getting a box delivered about once a month. It’s a little expensive to do every week but it’s perfect once in awhile. We make them together (we normally don’t cook together) and it’s like three mini-date nights. It’s so much more fun and about the same price as going out to a nice dinner. Plus we end up with three delicious meals instead of one :)

I love this idea. I always eat mostly the same thing so I love the idea of trying new foods and recipes without having to commit to the expensive ingredients

They don’t have this in Bulgaria but I will have to try it when we moce back to the states. In the meantime, radish hash: Radishes, Asparagus, Potatoes, Onions, more?

Reply

I like trying new dishes but sometimes it’s annoying to have to buy all the ingredients. Expensive and wasteful. Getting just the portions you need sounds great.

I LOVE that pink shirt… care to share where you got it??
