Songs with lyrics about running that give me motivation to keep going and WE WON (well, technically 2nd place).

I get abnormally excited when a song talks about running (or has lyrics that I can apply to my running:).  I wanted to share with you a bunch of songs that push me to keep going because of their lyrics!!

Screen Shot 2015 03 09 at 3 27 47 PM

1. Florence + the Machine—>  Dog Days Are Over.   “So you better run.  Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father.  Run for your children, your sisters and brothers.”

2. OneRepublic—>  Love Runs Out.  “Oh, we all run for something.  Run for God, for fate, for love, for hate, for gold, for rust, for diamonds, for dust.”

3. Cake—>  The Distance.  “He’s going the distance.  He’s going for speed.  She’s all alone.  In her time of need.  Because he’s racing and pacing and plotting the course.  He’s fighting and biting and riding on his horse, He’s going the distance.”

4. Young the Giant—>  My Body.  “My Body tells me no, but I won’t quit (running:).  Cause I want more, cause I want more…  Oh, it’s my road, it’s my road, it’s my road.”

5. Eminem—>  ’Till I Collapse.  “Cause sometimes you just feel tired, feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up.  But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength and just pull that ish;) out of you and get that motivation to not give up and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.”

6. Linkin’ Park—>  Runaway (another one of my angry songs).  “I wanna run away.”

7.  Dixie Chicks—>  Ready to Run.  “This time I’m ready to run.  Escape from the city and follow the sun.  ‘Cause I wanna be yours, don’t you wanna be mine?  I don’t wanna get lost in the dark of the night. This time I’m ready to run.”

8.  The Fray—>  Run For Your Life.  “Run for your life, my love.  Run and you don’t give up.  It’s all that you are.  All that you want.  I will be close behind.  Run for your life.”

9.  Beyonce—>  Run the World (Girls).  “Who run the world?  Girls.  This goes out to all the women getting it in, You’re on the grind…. How we’re smart enough to make these millions.  Strong enough to bear the children.”

10.  Nelly—>  Heart of a Champion.  “Ain’t no way they can stop me now.  Cause I’m on my way, I can feel my ring coming.  It’s the blood of a champion, pumping.  Deep inside my veins, too much pride to be running.  I’ma get what I can and more, even if my blood, my sweat, and my tears don’t mean nothing.  It’s the heart of a champion.”

11.  Ludacris—>  All I do is Win.  “Cause I never been defeated and I WON’T stop now.”

And Uptown Funk doesn’t say a word about running but just picturing Bruno Mars makes me happy which then makes me run faster.

Brooke and I had an intense soccer game yesterday afternoon so I fueled up right before with the good stuff.

IMG 6962

She is getting quite good.

IMG 6967

After the game she insisted on wearing her Minnie Mouse shoes everywhere we went—> YOLO (I have promised you so many times that I would never use that word on my blog again and then there I go using it for the millionth time).

IMG 6973

For dinner we had a very important Chili cook off to attend. I went for the method of trying two at a time.

 IMG 6982

Megan and I took second place overall and won a gift certificate for froyo—>  quite fitting.  We made her Chicken Cream Cheese Chili and it was a hit.

IMG 6985

The bachelor finale stole a good chunk of our lives last night.  Okay, we probably actually only watched 10% of it and talked and ate popcorn for the other 90%.

IMG 6989

Megan brought THREE types of heavenly popcorn.  We all could not stop eating this goodness:

Cake Batter Popcorn= Airpop 1/2 cup kernals, pour 1 lb of white chocolate over the top, stir until coated and then pour 1.5 cups dry funfetti cake mix on the top.  Stir until coated and spread on a cookie sheet to harden.  Easy Peasy.

Samoa Popcorn=  Use THIS recipe for the caramel corn but before you pour the caramel on the popcorn, add a cup of toasted coconut.  Then mix it with the caramel, spread it out on a cookie sheet and drizzle melted dark chocolate on the top.  Let it harden before breaking it up.

Muddy Buddy Popcorn—>  HERE!!!

Having plantains, eggs, and sausage for breakfast :) I love Brooke’s soccer ball, that might just get my girls excited about soccer. Thanks for all the great songs! I don’t listen to music often when running so I don’t have any great ones in mind. I have a feeling I’m missing out!

Reply

I also enjoy all if those songs, especially Florance and machines! They do such a great job! Anything on the top 40 are my favorite songs personally!

We eat a lot of popcorn at my house. It’s such an easy and fun snack to make. Plus you can add whatever mix ins you want

I love running to songs about running too!

Last summer when I was training for the Portland Marathon I listened to “Run this Town” by Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye on repeat for hours and hours!

Victory’s within the mile
Almost there, don’t give up now
Only thing that’s on my mind
Is who’s gonna run this town tonight

:)

I think I listen to every song you have listed up there. I listen to alot of Wakey!Wakey! while I run too, though their songs generally have little to do with running. But War Sweater motivates me to run, so it works.

I’m having bacon, eggs and a small cinnamon chip scone!

I like kettle corn. Little bit sweet, little bit salty. Her popcorn looks amazing! I haven’t seen the bachelor finale yet, but I do know who he picked.

I’ve been a runner for as long as I can remember. I started running track in second grade and it was the only sport I did. I am not remotely coordinated so while I tried a few other sports, nothing else stuck.

I eat almost the same thing for breakfast everyday – Greek yogurt and egg whites. So boring. So basic.
Congrats on the chili cook off!

Reply

Love Runs Out by One Republic, Shake It Off by Taylor Swift, and Pompeii by Bastille are my favorite run fast songs.
Breakfast is going to be oat with chia seeds, almonds, and bananas after my run. Plus lots of coffee :)
Plain popcorn with just a bit of sea salt for me. I’m totally boring when it comes to popcorn.
I played on a volleyball team when I was young. I think I’m only good at running because it does not require great hand-eye coordination.

Reply

Florence and the machine is the best to run to, gives me chills every time I run to that song! I also love Florence’s ‘No Light No Light’ to run to.
And I love eminem’s ’till I collapse’ too, it got me through the finals miles of my long runs when training for my first marathon. I actually love running to most of Eminem’s music, he’s a genius in my eyes :)

Reply

I have She’s Going the Distance on my running mix! It’s got a great beat for running.

Reply

Had greek yogurt and cheerios for bfast. I love exercising to old school songs, one of the instructors at my gym throws them in her class playslist and it distracts me thinking back to highschool etc. and not focus on the fact my muscles are burning!

I used to do competitive cheerleading, dance, gymnastics and soccer growing up. Take me back to all the energy I used to have… ;)

Reply

Kanye on repeat all day erry day and Calabria 2008 remix. I’m literally making my playlist for my marathon this weekend as we speak (yes, we are speaking) so this post was perfect timing! You da best.

Reply

I am loving uptown funk!
Green smoothie breakfast
Sweet popcorn
I cheered growing up:)

Reply

I love all popcorn.! Yum.
And I played basketball, soccer, and softball as a kid. And than cross-country and track in middle school and high school :)

Idk what I’ll have.. hmm.

Reply

Till I collapse and My Body are my two faves! And my boyfriend loves that Cake song.
I love an older song from the 80s. It’s called break my stride. “Ain’t nothing gonna break my stride. Nobody gonna hold me down oh no. I gotta keep on moving…”

Breakfast is in my purse. Half and avocado and an egg wrap sandwich that I will eat when u get to work.

Reply

Song: Youth Gone Wild (Skid Row), Raise Your Glass (P!nk), Good Feeling (Flo Rida), Fire Woman (The Cult)
Breakfast: Greek yogurt with Chia Seeds & Slivered Almonds.
Salty/buttery popcorn.
Sports: Little League as a kid, then Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball as a “bigger” kid.

Reply

Blurred Lines always pumps me up, and whenever I hear “Roar” I always think of you and your quote “I can do hard things”! It really helps!

Currently eating avocado toast with seaweed snack on the top, a glass of water, and now some hazelnut coffee :)

I love both!! I love flavored popcorn, so I’ll take any variety. There’s a Pittsburgh Popcorn Company store by my work, and they make the BEST peanut butter & chocolate popcorn.

I played softball as soon as I could sign up (6 I believe?) and still play in a league occasionally! I also tried soccer, volleyball and tennis. Wasn’t so good.

Reply

Ohhh also “Go the Distance” from Mulan! I love that song!

Reply

Lately I’ve been loving Taylor Swift while running. Especially ‘I Know Places’ (has the line “and we run” repeated in it) and ‘Out of the Woods.’

Reply

I had an everything bagel (GF) and a banana :) yum
My most favorite song that gets me going is: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “Can’t hold us”!!

Reply

Same! I put it on repeat during races ;)

Reply

Love that Eminen song I also love his 25 to life (angry divorce song haha!)

I played volleyball and basketball but eventually fell in love with cheerleading!

Bachelor finale was so good!! Team Kaitlyn!!

Homemade egg mcmuffin sandwich :)

Reply

I love “More” by Usher. It helps me give it all I’ve got. For breakfast I had a delish coconut yogurt with granola and a half blueberry muffin. I working on my coffee now.

Reply

Eminem Lose Yourself and Eye of the Tiger, ha! I always plan it for two miles before the end of my run because it makes me laugh and gives me energy.

Reply

I was a runner, swimmer and cheerleader as a kid. Today I’m having veggie egg muffin for breakfast with raspberries and sour cream blueberry muffin.

Reply

Depends on if it is a long run or speed work. I like AWOL nation’s sail for long runs and picture myself gliding smoothly along like a sailboat :) (instead of hobbling like a tired runner!)

I really like the pink top you are wearing at the chili cook off. May I ask where it is from?

Reply

Great list of running songs! When I was young I played soccer and softball, then in middle/high school I switched to track and field hockey, and I also danced from ages 3-18. This morning’s breakfast was an egg scramble with sweet potatoes, bacon and spinach!

Reply

I forgot who makes it, but there’s an amazing popcorn that’s drizzled with (a whole lot of) white and dark chocolate. So delicious!

Reply

I am all about the motivational songs while running! Depends on the day which song triggers my running motivation (and life motivation as the same time lol)…Titanium is a definite favorite of mine always, along with Bring Em Out, anything but Fall Out Boy and for some reason as I mentioned last week on my blog, It’s All Coming Back To Me by Celine Dion. No idea but at the moment, listening to it on repeat for 5 miles was amazing.

Reply

I had squaw bread with peanut butter and honey :), I need to find a good homemade chili recipe.

I played lacrosse and soccer when I was younger, I miss it!

Reply

Good list of tunes! I have most of those, but I’ll have to check out the missing ones. Not sure why, but I can’t even think of my favorite running song at this moment (up to0 early for my run, need more brain power!).
I love all of those popcorn flavors, but I prefer the salty kind.
When I was a kid I didn’t play any sports. I really didn’t like having someone depend on me to score!! (I couldn’t take the pressure!)

Reply

Recently I have been listening to Yazoo “Situation” from 1982… even though I wasn’t born at that time yet.

I had two egg whites with spinach and salsa for breakfast

I NEED ALL POPCORN. Currently I am obsessed with Cape Cod Salted Caramel popcorn and also TJoe’s Chicago Mix.

I did not play any sports.. I just danced every day. I have no athletic ability, at all!

Reply

Bruno Mars – Runaway Baby is one you could add to your playlist!

Reply

AHHHH thank you so much for introducing this song to me. I love it!

Reply

I <3 Bruno Mars! And One Republic – I lived, is such a motivation song. Take My Life by Jeremy Camp is a great one too.

I am currently drinking coffee and I haven't gotten much farther than that :)

I pretty much like all popcorn, as long as it's warm. There is something magical about Hot Tamales mixed with warm popcorn.

I played soccer, basketball, and swam in high school.

Reply

My all time favorite song is Calvin Harris’ Let’s Go. It’s amazing, it might be a little too slow for your pace, but I’m sure you can speed it up or find a remix somewhere.
“Let’s go. Make no excuses now, I’m talking here and now, I’m talking here and now
Let’s go! Your time is running out, I’m talking here and now, I’m talking here and now. It’s not about what you’ve done, it’s about what you doing. It’s all about where you going, no matter where you’ve been, let’s go!”
Works every time!

Reply

Sorry, you completely lost me at the popcorn idea. WHAT?! I had no concept that you could make popcorn a dessert. I am doing this.

Reply

Young and the Giant’s My Body is the one song I always reserve for race days, it gets me so emotional and motivated! :)

Pretty sure that cake batter popcorn is calling my name!

Reply

oooooh those popcorns! Also the picture of you and your friend with chili bowls– both of you have amazing hair!!

Reply

samoa popcorn!? cake batter popcorn?! I need to try these ASAP.

Whenever I’m gunning for a PR, I try to time my playlist so that Spongebob’s “Best Day Ever” is playing when I cross the finish line. I’m pretty cool. It is also mega-depressing though if you are off pace and it comes on too soon :(

Reply

First time commenting but I look forward to reading your blog daily! I just had to add “Run” by Snow Patrol. It’s a slow build but it’s so powerful I just love it!

Reply

Thank you so much Alicia! I forgot how much I love that song! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Reply

I love OneRepublic. Their newest album is fantastic.

When I was a kid I played a lot of soccer, basketball, and softball. Soccer was always my go-to sport. I also did track and wish I would have loved running back then like I do now. I appreciate it so much more!

Popcorn → light salt and butter

Oh, the Bachelor! I definitely called it. ☺ What did you think of his decision? Who do you think should be the next Bachelorette?

Reply

dog days are over is definitely a favorite song to run to. what did you think of the bachelor finale?!

Reply

I love Till I Collapse by Eminem. Gets me so pumped up! I had a bagel with pb this morning…well, that was my second breakfast. After my workout I had a delicious smoothie. I love kettle corn–yum!

Reply

I ate cereal this morning – I know boring, but to make it exciting, I mixed the apple cluster cereal with the strawberry cluster cereal. It was quite delicious!

I LOVE popcorn – sweet, salty, savory, mixed,… we eat a lot of it at my house. It is a staple snack on family movie night as well as an anytime snack!

I never played soccer as a kid, but we just signed my 7 year old daughter up for it and she is super excited. I’m excited too as I purchased her a couple of pairs of AWESOME soccer socks and cute little shin guards!

Great post as always!

Reply

I had toast with almond butter this morning- boring, but good. Buttery, salty popcorn is my favorite. I actually really don’t like sweet popcorn.

I played soccer when I was little, but then switched to field hockey.

Reply

They might be cliche, but Springsteen’s Born to Run and the Chariots of Fire theme are really good at giving me a pick me up. I’ve struggle during races but if those songs come on, I feel like I have a little bit extra to give.

Reply

I have the hugest running playlist ever but right now my fave is “Ghost” by Ella Henderson (Janae, you’ll LOVE it and if you don’t, I will run 10 miles naked. That’s how much I swear you’ll like it).

Please like it. My boobs are the silliest things ever.

Reply

Funny, but I definitely never have thought that that Cake song is about running ;-)

Reply

It isn’t ha but I just like to think of it that way:) I hope you are having a great day Katie!

Hall of Fame – by The Script feat. will.i.am

This song is awesome for inspiration. I once had it on repeat during an all out 20 minute run test. Makes me feel like a rockstar athlete.

Reply

yes! hands down… J, get this on your top 10! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk48xRzuNvA

Reply

Til I collapse is one of my all-time favourite running songs! Nothing better than some angry jams for a tough interval. :)

Overnight oats coming up for breakfast soon!

Reply

Oh man I don’t even like popcorn but those all look delicious!!

My breakfast was a Gluten Free Bar and then a protein green smoothie when I got home after my workout. Now it is off to Cotsco to buy all the things!!

Reply

Loving your look in the pink top! :)

Good job on 2nd place.

Reply

Sometimes I think you should change the name of your blog to ” TheGirl Who Eats The Best Desserts Ever and Runs Alot” because this is what you do. I love it. OMG, please don’t ever give up sugar because I live vicariously through you and drool on a daily basis!!!

Reply

I have a running playlist – different songs motivate me better depending on the day!

Breakfast this morning (and every weekday morning) = greek yogurt and granola! Already had my coffee in the car (best part of my mornings).

Buttery or salty popcorn is usually the winner – cheddar flavored skinny pop!

I played soccer my entire life (and did track in middle school and part of high school – 100 M and 200 M what what), so it makes me SO happy to see Brooke kicking around a soccer ball! I started playing when I was 8. When I told my dad I wanted to play at first he was like “….no that’s dangerous” but in the end he was my best coach/biggest fan :)

ALSO I watched the entire Bachelor finale live…and I thought it was so boring! Becca didn’t seem to care at ALL.

Reply

I have several play lists but one song I’ve loved for years is “Dig In” by Lenny Kravitz!

Sweet potato for breakfast today – yum! I’m on a sweet potato kick lately :)

I was a swimmer as a kid – it was literally the only sport I wasn’t horrible at. I did it until high school. Comes in handy in triathlon now days :)

Reply

oh my goodness….all of those popcorn flavors sound AMAZING!!!!! totally jealous of your tastebuds.

absolutely love that you listed your favorite running songs-there is something about running while someone sings to you about running :)

Reply

I love Florence and the Machine! That song is awesome. I used to play baseball and hockey and I skiied. I want to expose my boys to so many different activities right now and then let them pick what they want to focus on.
Have you had Chicago Mix popcorn? That stuff is amazing!

Reply

I love when the song distance by cake comes on my playlist!

Yum popcorn, I’m bumming my popcorn popper is broken, that looks amazingly!

Reply

Pretty much any Linkin Park song is a go-to for running.

I thought the Bachelor finale was pretty boring… I also spent way more of it talking than watching.

Reply

Great song selections! And today was a Greek yogurt, banana and trail mix kinda day!

Reply

Janae! What are your thoughts on who won??? Were you Team Whitney or Team Becca?? I think Whitney is perfect for him but I feel like he’ll always wonder about Becca.

Reply

–> Cannonball by Lea Michele!! SUCH a motivating song about breaking free from a dark place. Always makes me pick up the pace a bit. Listen to it once and I promise you won’t regret it!!

Movie theater popcorn + M&M’s = deliciousness.

I tried the chili recipe you mentioned and it’s so good! I kind of want to add cream cheese to everything right now. Thanks for sharing! :)

Reply

I love that chili recipe!!

Reply

Ah! I LOVE OneRepublic’s Love Runs Out! “There’s a maniac, out in front of me…” Always makes me want to run faster to catch that person in front of me; real or imaginary.

I also am a big fan of Florence + The Machine’s Shake It Out. I always put it towards the end of a race playlist when I’m tired..”Shake it off, shake it off..and it’s hard to dance with the devil on your back so shake him off.” It gives me the mental boost to ‘shake off’ the fatigue and the voice inside my head trying to tell me to quit.

Lastly, and this one is cornball, but I love ‘Go the Distance’ from Hercules. I added it to my playlist when I did my first Disney half marathon and it has remained a staple ever since. “I will find my way, I can go the distance. I’ll be there someday, if I can be strong. I know every mile, will be worth my while…”

Breakfast was a green smoothie; power greens, coconut water, mineola, kiwi, and banana. :-)

Reply

While it’s slow, I love Carry On by fun especially because of these lines: “May your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground. Carry On…” And “my head is on fire but my legs are fine. After all they are mine.”

And this one’s funny but Somebody Told Me by the Killers. A great race song but I totally take the line “Pace yourself for me” to heart. I need to be reminded of that during a race:)

Reply

I think you should have brought some of your winning chili for me to eat before I went into a sugar coma. Lets just say I had a lot of energy for my workout today. How did your run go??

Brooke dresses better than I do and I am kind of okay with it. It’s totally normal to be jealous of a 2 year olds wardrobe, right?

I had greek yogurt, raspberries and peanut butter granola for breakfast. To bad there wasn’t any left over muddy buddy popcorn or I would have had some of that in milk. YOLO <– never let it die.

Reply

Bruno Mars runaway baby and blackout by breathe Carolina

Reply

Imagine Dragons- I Bet My Life, is my favorite right now! I also really like Hozier- Take Me To Church.

Breakfast was Bulletproof coffee.

Popcorn- drenched in butter with salt! Yummm!

I played soccer and basketball as a kid. My 3 year old (also Brooke) is really getting into soccer right now too! I love it!!

Reply

I had scrambled eggs for breakfast… 1 whole egg with the yolk and 3 additional egg whites. I’m recovering from knee surgery so I’m trying to up my protein intake.

My favorite running songs are angry songs :) Limp Bizkit really gets me going, although that’s kind of embarrassing to admit!

Reply

I love Britney Spears’ “Stronger.” Also, Eminem “Lose Yourself.” I can also run to any Taylor Swift song ever, but “Red” works really well.

That cake batter popcorn sounds delicious! I’ve always loved white cheddar popcorn, so I could probably eat that any day.

I played soccer for 15 years, which is where I think I developed endurance for running. I also played basketball for many years. Every once in a while I’ll pick up a ball and shoot at the gym, though.

Reply

YUM…I love popcorn and will be trying the new recipes out soon…thanks!

Reply

Where did you get that pink shirt! I LOVES it. :)

When I’m doing a long run and just want to zone out I have some really strange picks, but I love running to Ronan Hardiman’s “Lord of the Dance” and Brandi Carlile’s “What Can I Say” especially when I’m trail running.

Reply

Do or Die by 30 seconds to Mars. It’s always the last song of my marathon playlist.

Reply

Most songs by Lecrae really motivate me to keep moving! I want some of that popcorn… any kind, all sound amazing. Way to go on your chili win!

I showed horses as a kid (equestrian sport, technically?), played tennis and ice hockey! My son and I like to play toddler-style street hockey in the driveway now that things are thawing out!

Reply

I HATE wasting any almond or PB. I take the jar when its “empty” add in some oatmeal and almond milk and cook in in the microwave!

Reply

Did you see that video on runner’s world of the band playing Born to Run WHILE THEY RAN!!!! So epic.

Also, what age does pee wee soccer start? I remember starting in kindergarten but I fell like Brooke is way ahead of the curve.

Reply

“Ways to Go” by Grouplove is a favorite of mine on runs. The lyric “I’ve got a little bit longer, I’ve got a ways to go” is basically my thought process during a hard/long workout. One side of my brain is telling me to keep going because it’s almost done, while the other is telling me to just stop because I’m not even close :)

Reply

Our 6 year old JUST got a new pair of Minnie Mouse shoes! She absolutely loves them! Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks and those look soooo good. When I eat plain popcorn popped on top of the stove I feel like I’m eating “clean” without all the extra stuff but I so love some popcorn with salt and chocolate on it. Now I want some.

I love your song selection! Definitely some good ones to rock on too. I played soccer growing uo. Loved every second of it. I also played softball, and ran track and cross country.

Reply

Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen, Born to Run (I love Bruce), Running with the Devil (I’m an 80’s girl) and Everlong – Foo Fighters. (not about running but the rhythm is perfect for my pace).

I prefer salty/savory popcorn, sometimes with little pieces of chocolate in it.

I didn’t play sports as a kid but I took dancing lessons, which I loved. I liked the exercises best of all.

Reply

I think I need a mix – a bowl of salty and a bowl of sweet…so I can just keep going back and forth!!!

Reply

Megan with the popcorn, your arms are amazing!!

LOVED playing soccer when I was a kid! and that pink ball is adorable.
Great playlist suggestions! Run the World by Beyonce always puts a pep in my step :)

I like a mixture of sweet and butter popcorn. Actually, I change my mind. I like butter popcorn with raisenets sprinkled throughout. That’s my favorite!

Reply

I love Bruno Mars too! And I love listening to his song “Runaway Baby” when running. It got me through the last two miles of my PR 1/2 marathon last spring, listening to it on repeat.

Can’t wait to try the recipe for the cake Bayer popcorn! Sounds amazing!!

Reply

Fall Out Boy + John Mayer’s “Beat It” is my all time favorite running song! I’ve had it on my playlist for YEARS..

Reply

Oatmeal and fruit for breakfast
Salty popcorn!!
Love Dixie Chicks, Beyonce and Coldplay (Viva La Vida and its on my blog for today!)
Tennis, swimming growing up – but mostly running :)

Reply

I love “Faster” by Matt Nathanson. Whenever it comes on, I push a little harder to increase my pace during that song. I also try to make sure Jason Mraz’s “You F*ckin’ Did It” comes on close to the end of my long runs or races… because it’s hysterical and super motivating.

Reply

A lot of the songs you mentioned I love to listen to while running! I’m also a fan of Imagine Dragons “On Top of the World” (instantly makes me feel happy that I’m able to run…even if the run isn’t going that great) and “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World. I’m super corny and have even strategically placed this song in the middle of playlists for my marathons/half marathons :) Love the lyrics “It just takes some time, little girl you’re in the middle of the ride. Everything will be just fine, everything will be alright”.

Reply

The lyrics you posted under “Ready to Run” by Dixie Chicks are One Direction’s lyrics! Haha I had to look it up to see if it was a cover :)

Reply

Haha! I did the exact same thing! How funny :)

Reply

I played soccer for many years and the way Brooke is approaching the ball with her eyes looking AT the ball is perfect form!

I love your pink shirt in the chili-winning picture. Congratulations! I love gift cards.

Reply

I really like the song by Melanie Amaro called “Don’t Fail Me Now” In the song it says “feet don’t fail me now” and it always motivates me to keep running :)

Reply

These are both kind of dark songs on a deep level, but I like Fast As You Can by Fiona Apple and Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People. I pretend they’re about running :) And I love the whistling in Pumped up Kicks.

Reply

Good songs!

Reply

Haha my blog and Instagram are “she’s going the distance” and “she’s going for speed”.. love Cake!

Reply

Check Yes Juliet by We the Kings. BEST running song. Def worth adding to the list! :)

Reply

I love Cake, but don’t know most of those others. Some good ones are “Running down a dream” by Tom Petty, “Run for your life” by Pink Floyd and “Fox on the run” by Sweet. And “Ballroom blitz” by Sweet is just a great workout song, no matter what you’re doing.
