The luckiest thing that has happened to me in a long time and my weight in animals.

We are just going to rewind back to Tuesday night.

1.  My hair is dark again.  I probably won’t wash it for a week to attempt to keep it the way that my hairdresser styled it.

2.  I ate the best tacos to celebrate Taco Tuesday.  1 chicken, 1 beef and 1 avocado taco.

IMG 2148

My good friend Addie took me to her current favorite.  It is called Oteo and I will be a frequent visitor from this point forward.

The two of us have some real good conversations.

IMG 2149

My first cronut ever.  It wins at life.

IMG 2151

Wednesday morning I went on an early early morning run with Josse and did a total of 9 miles.  Man, I miss those early morning runs together!

Brooke and I hit up the Museum of Curiosity and I weighed myself for the first time in a long time.

That is a lot of grasshoppers.

IMG 2196

For yesterday’s tradition (our third year in a row doing this!!) we made HOT CHOCOLATE COOKIES

IMG 2208

And then we delivered cookies and a present for my grandma’s dog, Mr. Blue.

IMG 2216

3 really great things to tell you!!!!

1. New Cereal Cafe in London!!!  I don’t think I have ever heard of a better idea.

Screen Shot 2014 12 10 at 2 13 56 PM

2.  So, this happened.

It is a December Miracle.  Remember how I told you about how I lost my key on a trail run?  Well, my friend Lori saw me talk about it on the blog and SHE FOUND IT while she was out running (she didn’t even know what trail I was on when I lost it).  Talk about lucky.

And because I love dogs, I love bears and I love treadmills:

There is a restaurant in my city called Sidedoor that makes little tummy tacos and homemade donuts – I suffered through a food hangover when I went there last!

Yay for finding your keys!!!!

Reply

Crazy she found your key! Those hot chocolate cookies are too much.

Reply

Mmmm tacos!! That place sounds awesome! I MUST make those hot chocolate cookies!! Yum. I don’t have a specific recipe, but peanut butter blossoms and butter cookies are my face! Only if they are made by Grandma, of course :) tomorrow I’m making some monster cookies with crushed candy canes in them!

Reply

Wow – amazing!!! So glad you (she!) found your key!

Reply

That’s awesome your friend found your keys – very good luck!!

I’ve never had a cronit, but now that I’ve seen that picture I must find one. TODAY.

My favorite restaurant lately (and always) is a yummy little Italian place that makes the best veggie lasagna. It makes me swoon. I always say I’m going to eat half and then I eat it all :)

Reply

I so want to try a cronut for no other reason than to see if they live up to the hype! It looks good!

I really like molasses cookies. I always thought they were gross as a kid but I love them now and i only ever make them at Christmas.

That’s pretty amazing that not only was your key found, but by someone you know! Crazy!!

Reply

I saw josse running at the turkey trot half! She was kicking trash!

Psycho crazy about the key! What a miracle!!

I go for cinnamon rolls instead of cookies…huge fan of cream cheese :)

Have an awesome day!

Reply

I love the hair. :) I would do almost anyuthing to eat that cronut right now. I tried making these oreo based cookies last year….they ended up looking like little nuggets of coal and you couldn’t eat one without a HUGE glass of milk or water. My family was nice and tried to eat them anyway. Ha.

Reply

I must try those Hot Chocolate Christmas Cookies! They look delish.
Also, I think you need to put this on your Christmas “wish list” LOL.

That’s insane she found it!!! So lucky. I once lost my phone in a parking lot and someone found it and looked up “mom” in my phonebook, called my mom and told her he found the phone. There are good people in the world!

Reply

Wow! What a tender mercy to find your key! That’s incredible!

Reply

I haven’t had much of a chance to eat out lately but I typically love La Frontera, I am a sucker for smothered Mexican food!

Reply

What are the chances of her finding your key? That is some serious luck! I don’t eat a ton of cookies but I do eat a lot of muffins and these apple cinnamon muffins are to die for http://skinnyfitalicious.com/apple-cinnamon-muffins-attracting-freaks/

Ahhhhh that video! That is the cutest thing ever!

It would be super cool to know how many jaguars I weigh… it would also be super cool if I could run as fast as a jaguar! I’m working on it. My speedwork lately has been paying off. Pretty soon I’ll be running 50 miles per hour like a jaguar! ;)

Reply

It depends what Jaguar! They can be like 70-240lbs so I weigh more than some jaguars but a lot less than others!

Reply

Yay for your found key…that is amazing! Lucky thing to happen to me most recently: one of my friends baked banana bread and brought it into work today still warm…nomnomnomnom.

Thank you for the Hot Chocolate Cookie recipe…I will make these this weekend…of course I’ll have to make them for me first before giving them to anyone else… nomnomnomnom.

Reply

That’s awesome about the key!!!

I just made your brother’s smores bars, the other day, and now I feel like I must make those hot chocolate cookies!! They look amazing!

Reply

Haha, I also do that with my hair after being at the hairdressers.. :)

Reply

Whenever I get my hair done, I always feel the same way! I’m glad someone else understands.

That weight calculator is really cool! I’ve never seen anything like that before!

Reply

My friend makes cookies for gifts every Christmas and she gives me all the non-presentable broken ones! I love her thumbprint cookies and 7 layer rainbow cookies.

At the risk of sounding corny my luck is finding love this year. My boyfriend has made me feel beyond lucky.
A funny car key story: I went on a hike with my friend and our dogs. When we got back to the parking lot I couldn’t find my key. I left her with both dogs and ran the trails that we just hiked only to come up empty handed. We were trying to figure out a plan B when I bent down to tie my shoe. Low and behold my key was on the ground under the car parked next to mine!

Reply

Your hair looks fabulous! I do the same thing when I get mine done, I try to wait to wash for as long as possible (unfortunately, the dedication usually lasts only a day until I get dirty and/or sweaty!)
I think it’s pretty miraculous that your key was found, the odds were certainly slim!

Reply

That is so awesome she found your key!!! I love it when things like that happen!

Reply

I feel you on the hair…I wish I could style mine like my hairdresser does.

I have had quite the obsession with Noodles & Company lately. They opened one right across the street from my office and I’ve made it my goal to try every option on the menu haha.

I haven’t made any Christmas cookies yet this year, but I’m going to use some of the ideas from the comments this weekend!

Reply

Love new hair! It’s one of the best feelings in my opinion! And so awesome about your key! What luck!

My favorite Christmas cookies are these things called peanut butter temptations my mom always makes. Peanut butter cookies with a Reese’s cup in the middle. They’re heavenly. I have no idea where she got the recipe, but they are the best.

Reply

If Brooke showed up at my door with those cookies it would seriously make my day!
That is so lucky that your friend found your key! Love the new hair:)

Reply

i haven’t had a cronut but i’ve been to Dominique Ansel’s bakery in SoHo (the original cronut haven) a few times, and it’s an adorable spot. the stories of people waiting for hoursssss outside before he opened for these things kill me! totally dig the “weight in animals” scale — such a cool concept. craziness about your key!

Reply

I don’t think anything can beat sugar cookies with frosting for me at Christmas time!

Reply

I have never tried a cronut…. I love croissants, and I love donuts! This is precisely why I don’t think i should ever try one… I may never be able to stop eating them!

Reply

I had to google what a cronut was. That is happening in my life. STAT.

And I also want to know how much I weigh in grasshoppers. #lifegoal

Reply

I want my dog on a treadmill ASAP!
Nothing lucky, just the most amazing husband and wonderful life :) Guess I am pretty lucky
Never tried a cronut, but it’s on my list.
My favorite restaurant in our area is Genghis Grill. We’ve been there three times in the last week. Whoops.
I’m planning on trying these cookies as gifts, but haven’t done so yet. Will report back! http://thefrugalgirls.com/2013/09/andes-mint-cookie-mix-in-a-jar.html
I mean, they are Andes Mint Dark Chocolate cookies. Can’t really be bad right?

Reply

We have a Cajun place here in my little town that is to die for. It’s called taytros. Such amazing Jambalaya and BBQ shrimp.

Reply

I want some of your hot chocolate cookies :)

Reply

Fav restaurant right now is this small local place called Big Bear Brewery :) in the summer, they have watermelon beer. WARNING: it sounds strange but it is SOOO good!!!!

Reply

what a great day!! :) those cookies look great! :) xo

Reply

Wonderful luck!! I got in a minor car accident last weekend. Luckily there wasn’t any damage to either car or person or anything.
I haven’t tried a cronut yet. I want to but there are just so many other treats around!
I make the same cookies every year: they’re a dark chocolate butter cookie with crushed up candycanes on top. Sorry no link, I got the butter cookie recipe from a cookbook a long time ago and I’ve changed it a lot since then.
Hmm- maybe I should write it up and post it this year.

Reply

I just saw a video on making cronuts this morning, https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152903526389824&set=vb.70699574823&type=2&theater

My fav restaurants are usually local ones, but one restaurant that I can’t get enough of is Free Birds and of course, there isn’t one in my city. It’s kind of like Chipotle on crack. It’s awesome!

Reply

I LOVE Free birds. I do have one in my city but I haven’t been there in a while and now I think a trip is in order soon!!

Reply

That is amazing! I’m so happy she found your key!

I love the cereal bar idea! How cool.

Reply

I consider today to be lucky because I made it to work in 22 minutes when it usually takes 30-40 ;)

That cronut & those tacos look to die for…I’ve been loving Mexican food lately and think I know what I’ll be having for dinner!

Reply

Wow what luck she found your key! No good luck but no bad luck so that’s ok by me!

Reply

That is crazy that she found your key! How great!

I haven’t tried a cronut yet, but it sounds like something I would want 12 of!

My favorite restaurant is called Goldfish – it’s a seafood restaurant and it’s amazing.

My grandma used to make Russian Tea Cakes every Christmas (they’re also called Mexican Wedding Cakes) http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/russian-tea-cakes/3af8664b-6c3e-4022-b686-cd961521e59b

CRONUTS ARE LIFE CHANGING!

And a cereal cafe?! This is just the best news ever.

Reply

I am pretty sure there was a cereal café in the city but I don’t think it’s still there, but I could be wrong. There’s a place called Oatmeals down in the village which I am always meaning to get to – it’s all oatmeal with all kinds of toppings and varieties! I would need a few bowls.

Reply

Pretty much need to go to London just to go to the cereal bar.

Cronut……yes, and loved!

Reply

avocado tacos are the best.

Reply

That’s awesome you found your key!! I’ve always wanted to see what all the rave is about the cronut but have yet to try them.

Reply

How freaking amazing is it that she found your key?! Ah-mazing!

Cronuts are also amazing!

My third amazing are these ‘Christmas type’ cookies: http://www.chef-in-training.com/2012/11/chocolate-chunk-peppermint-pudding-cookies/

Cause peppermint and chocolate are made for each other.

Reply

What’s a cronut.??? That looks ammazing. And it looks fried. Yumm.

And lucky thing to happen to me, I found 10 dollars at the beginning of my run one day, so I ran 10 miles that day. Your luck is definitely better though. !

Reply

What are the chances that your friend would find your keys? My husband and I were in Tahoe a couple days ago and I played a few dollars in the Wheel of Fortune slot machine and won $50. I stopped when I was ahead – I never gamble. Haha.

Reply

That is amazing that she found your key! Yay!

That cronut looks incredible… YUM!

Reply

It’s my birthday and I got to start the day running and having breakfast with friends. I’m feeling so lucky and blessed!!

taco envy. thank you for introducing me to cronuts. i don’t think we have them in canada.

i feel so lucky that i get to work with my guy (we rock as business partners!) and work. wake each morning on my own terms and do cool professional stuff i love all day (in my flip flops). and then get paid for it. i mean, it doesn’t get any better than that.

happy wednesday!

M&M Cookie Bars —> http://www.iheartnaptime.net/mm-cookie-bars/ Yeah nuff’ said. These are super delish and festive if you use the red and green holiday M&M’s. They’re awesomeeeee.

Reply

Hairdressers have hairdresser magic. You could use the same shampoo as they do and it still won’t smell as good as when you leave the hairdresser. You’ll never be able to style it as well, it’s the magic.

I really want a taco now.

I love Brooke’s “Chandler” grin.

Reply

I’m thinking about going to London for the day just to go to that cereal cafe since I only live 40 minute minutes away, it seems crazy not to! I’ll let you know what it’s like :)

I had a test planned for today and really didn’t prepare very well. I showed up to my lesson and my teacher had left the papers in her office in the other building so we ended up not doing it, I was very happy!! Definitely sugar cookies, so easy to make them really festive!!

Reply

I can’t believe a friend found your key! That is awesome.

I was on a trail race, got back to my car and my key was gone from my pocket. Used a friend’s phone to call my husband. Was waiting for him when I realized my key was in my crotch. It had worked it’s way out of my pocket, but was still in the mesh on my shorts. I have no idea how I ran, then walked around with a key in my crotch without noticing.

Reply

LOL–now THAT is very funny.

Reply

LMAO. That. Is. Great.

Reply

Ha ha ha that is hilarious. Sounds like something that would happen to me

Reply

We have a cereal bar in Memphis and you can get unlimited cereal for 4 dollars!

Reply

I saw that cereal cafe on the news last night. I must go! I also love that they serve the milk on the side. A bad milk pour can ruin the whole bowl!

I’ve never had a cronut, but I really want to try one! They could cross pretty much anything with a donut and I’d still be down.

Reply

I like how you had an exclamation point beside Lori’s name in your phone. I love your enthusiasm for life. :)

Reply

You are gorgeous but I prefer your dark hair! It looks awesome. I have dark hair and sometimes when I see people with beautiful blond hair I think “oh, i could look like that.” and then I try it and b/c I’m naturally a dark brunette, it just doesn’t look right on me. Of course YOU look good both ways and not that my opinion matters but I just think you look awesome with the dark brown hair. :) Okay, that’s my superficial comment of the day.

Reply

I love love LOVE the Museum of Natural Curiosity! It is the BEST! Also that is amazing that she found your key and those tacos look amazing.

They used to (or still do, I don’t know) have a cereal bar in Santa Cruz and I went one time! It was pretty cool, you get to mix different cereals and add fun toppings. Fun idea!

Favorite restaurant in the area is definitely Settebello’s! That pizza is incredible.

Reply

I would eat cereal for every meal if I could! I wonder if those guys would consider opening a franchise in Central Florida..

Reply

OH man, $4 for a small bowl of cereal?! I’d be broke in a heartbeat.

Reply

All your food looks amazing! I love tacos!
My favorite cookies to make for Christmas are peanut butter blossoms. http://runeatplayblog.com/2014/12/11/christmas-treats-recipe-round-up/

OMG!! We ALL need a weight scale like that – and one with different options: butterflys, spiders, tadpoles, caterpillars, etc!!!

Reply

Yay for finding your keys! Replacing car keys can be so expensive and such a pain. Also, I love dark hair on you, it gives you an exotic look.

Yes, I had something lucky happen to me just a few days ago! Went to the library with all my overdue books and, when I asked how much my late fees were, the librarian told me someone had just dropped off a bunch of money to anonymously pay late fees. Awwww, Merry Christmas to me!

Reply

That is INSANE that she found your key. WOW! And I love to keep my hair in stylist-done form for as long as possible too.

Reply

Oh yay! I am so glad that you got your keys back!! Lately I have been loving Olive Garden :) So much goodness!!!

Reply

Ok, that dog on the treadmill is way too cute! I had to not laugh out loud at work…. I wish someone would find my driver’s license in Chicago like you found your key. I lost it running the Monster Dash in October. :(

Reply

WAIT. WAAAAAAAAIIIITTTT.

A cereal cafe???? You lost me there. A CEREAL CAFE!!!

Reply

Can your friend Lori come run on my trail in Ohio and see if she can find my car key that I lost LAST summer?! LOL I now lace it through my shoes. I don’t even trust the little pockets in my clothes anymore….I had run 14 miles that day and when the tow guy came to unlock my car and take me home, he was like, “you could’t re-trace your steps to look for it?” I’m like, “sir. I just RAN! 14 miles! Just, NO. Take me home.”

Reply

That is crazy that your friend found your key!

My favorite Christmas cookie is soft, chewy gingerbread. Sorry no link, but I plan to post this recipe soon! I love butter tarts too – they aren’t really a cookie but they are delicious. I think they are more of a Canadian thing.

Reply

Luck has not been a friend this week. Our five year old is battling a pretty narly infection and we’ve had to alternate taking time off work to hang with him.

I live in a rural town….restaurants are depressing here but we did have a new Thai place open up this summer and it’s such a delight to have decent sushi….Idaho is not exactly known for that!

I don’t actually make Christmas cookies…I’m more into candies because they travel better to family + friends. We do a salted caramel + pretzel fudge that is my favorite.

Reply

That’s amazing! I cant believe that she found your key. Glad you got it back :)

Since moving to Chicago every restaurant is my favorite restaurant.

Reply

My car hasn’t broken down yet, even though a warning light has been on. I think that’s pretty lucky!

I haven’t tried a cronut yet, but I’m looking forward to the day :)

My favourite cafe at the moment is one around the corner from my work called Kinfolk. It’s a not for profit organisation, where profits go to local and international projects, and most of the staff are volunteers! The best part though is that the breakfasts and coffee rock. They have a single 62 degree egg breakfast special with different seasonal vegies that is to die for.

Reply

So glad you are still loving those cookies! I seriously can’t get enough of them and look forward to making them every December!

Reply

Anything lucky happen to you lately?
*My son said he wanted to give Daddy a ‘ninja shirt’ for Christmas. I was thinking… um… ok…. and then I found a Bruce Lee shirt on clearance at target for $4, had a $5 gift card so it was free, and my son thinks I’m magic. Does that count?

Who has tried a cronut before? Thoughts?
No I haven’t, but I’m craving donuts. Like, right now, my plan for Christmas morning is tons and tons of donuts.

Your favorite restaurant lately in your area?
Haven’t been out in a while.

Favorite Christmasish cookies to make? LINKS PLEASE!!!
Classic gingerbread, but my grandmother’s always looked sad or broken. When I was a kid, we found their melancholy and deformities hilarious. Now, my mom and I purposely make them that way because… well… it’s still hilarious. ;)

Reply

I used to live in Salt Lake City, but recently moved to Washington. I still dream about Taqueria27. Best. Tacos. Ever. Have you been? ;-)

Reply

Nooo way that’s crazy she found your keys :D what a coincidence! Also best café idea ever! Perfect for a random cereal craving.

Reply

That’s so crazy that she was able to find your key. Talk about lucky!!!

Your hair looks amazing by the way!!!

I died over the dog video.

I’m wanting to make any Christmas cookie, I haven’t had any all season! The heartbreak is real.

Reply

CRAZY LUCKY that you found your key!!! Wowza!!!!!

Reply

Wow! What are the odds of your keys actually being found?!? and by someone who knew it was yours?? Crazy!

before my gluten issues, I could have lived off of cereal 24/7. I don’t crave other stuff, but everytime I open a box of yummy cereal for the kiddos I just close my eyes with the smells and memories.

We received a goody bucket from our ‘mystery’ neighbors last night! Loved the surprise, but now I need to step up my baking game for the new neighbors whomever they were :)

Reply

Yay I’m glad you got your key back!!

Reply

I’m glad that the cereal bar puts the milk on the side. It’s such a personal choice!
