Part 1 of our road trip was a success.  Brooke slept for 95% of the drive (Christmas must have really tired her out) and I had plenty of diet coke and good jams to make the drive fly by quickly.  Part 2 (today) is going to be longer but I am sure we will have a good time together.

Before we left, I started off the day with a treadmill run—>  It is so ridiculously icy where I live right now and I just did not want to risk falling.

11 miles at 7:23 average pace (I think… my math isn’t always the best).  The first hour felt pretty comfortable but during the last three miles my legs felt fatigued.  Overall, I am excited to start Boston training with a pretty decent base.

Road-trip apparel= necessary to wear the most comfortable clothing possible.

Right when we got to St. George we drove straight to food.

Leave it to me to find the Best Salad Bar In Town while traveling.  It’s a talent.

Salad and garlic bread.  Always a great combination (especially when you dip the garlic bread in ranch dressing… try it).

After we ate I took Brooke to the Children’s Museum to play for a few hours.

And then we drove around looking at different lights and parts of town.

To spend our last night together (she will be gone for an entire week this time) we did what we always do before she leaves:

I hope you have a fabulous weekend.  Sleep in a little bit, go run for as long as you want and of course make sure you eat some delicious food.

I am sure the week will fly by! Sleeping for a long drive is the best, unless you are driving of course!

Awe it sounds like a good time. I can only imagine how nice it was for Brooke to sleep through most of the trip. I remember I was always so happy because I was a road (and plane trip) sleeper.

Enjoy your weekend!

Nice treadmill numbers.11 miles, just like that! WOW
I used to run one mile every morning and it got me all sweaty and puffing. I was on the Loaded Gun Diet back then.
Love the pics.

Looks like a fun road trip to me!!!!

Enjoy part 2 and your weekend. I’m cleaning my house top to bottom and trying so hard not to run to let my knee heal but it’s 56 degrees and sunny here in NYC. Hard to resist. Will probably just take a long walk.

Enjoy the rest of your road trip/weekend! I’m about to hop in the car myself for a 3 hour drive.

We only have a 90 minute drive today but we have a 15 hour drive coming up next week – yikes! We love finding unique food stops along the way too and checking off local sites. Safe travels to you and Brooke :)

What training program are you using for Boston?

Didn’t get to sleep in, but had a good 6.5 mile run with my running group and apple pie for breakfast when I got home – a good morning if you ask me :)

Hopefully your second day of travelling will go just as good as the first!

Hahaha when you wrote “jams” for the road I was thinking you meant like, jars of jams. Blackberry, strawberry, etc. I’m such a ditz! Wicked pace on the TM. WOW. You’re going to sub-3 at Boston at that rate.

Y’all are super cute! Do you tan or are you just naturally tan with the best teeth ever?

I ran 3.25 this morning and that was fine, I didn’t have time for more and was feeling drowsy. Had a picnic with my little guy in our living room, and now I think I’ll take a nap. Happy weekend to you!

“The best salad bar in town” reminds me of the scene in Elf where Buddy sees the coffee shop with the “world’s best coffee” and runs in to congratulate the coffee workers. Haha!

And you’re going to have an awesome base when you start officially training :)

Merry Christmas! I’m in love with those shoes!! Brooks?

For all the bad things I eat, I always stay clear of “diet” drinks.. Really, really bad for you.. You are safer drinking full fat coke and just running for an extra few minutes.. :)

Wow I am amazed that you could complete 17kms on a treadmill, you are a machine woman, what is your motivation? I got on the treadmill this morning and was just not feeling it so I skipped it, naughty naughty, I regret it now

Your road trip sounds really fun! Kudos to you for 11 miles on the treadmill. I’d love to know how you stay focused. I have a hard time on the treadmill…
Love all the pictures! Have a wonderful weekend!! :)

Awe, I feel like I’ll miss Brooke also from seeing her for a week on the blog. Idk how you do it.

If we ever meet in person, can we meet at a salad bar and can u build a salad for me? Yours always look so freakin’ good. Where did u go for this salad bar?

Did u like the children’s museum? I love the kids museum in vegas.

My grandparents were sealed in the st. George temple forever ago because the Los Angeles temple wasn’t around yet. It’s a pretty temple.

I just sent my mom off with 2 u hauls and my utah brother this morning. She moved away! Waaaaaa!

I am so amazed that you can run 11 miles on a treadmill :) And also at a 7:23 pace! Glad to hear that the roadtrip is going well :)

Delicious food is what this week is all about. Enjoy yours!

Okay, so if I read this right you are being brave and taking Brooke to California by yourself. Nice job! Big step.

Road trips with my kids are the best ever. Enjoy. Even if she is only two and can’t really have deep meaningful conversations with you.

Nice salad. :)

So awesome that she slept for the first part. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Have fun! I can’t wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

Wow! 11 miles on a treadmill! Brooke is looking super cute like always :)

I made this crazy goal to do 2,015 miles of movement in the year 2015 and I had to tell you about it… although Im pretty sure you already do that! haha My goal is to just move that many miles, so walk/bike/run/ whatever!! I’m excited for it :) I made a group on FB if anyone wants to join!!

That sounds like the perfect weekend day to me, and pretty much what I did today! I get so much pleasure in being able to spend as much time as I want exercising, instead of being worried about the time. And being able to do that after a sleep in = heaven!

Reply

are you going to visit bangs friend? PS. do you get really bad anxiety or body image if you don’t workout when you know you’ll be sitting most of the day?

Reply

It was good to see you at the gym! I told my husband I saw you and that you were probably running like ten miles or something crazy just for fun :) hahha I was close! I’m only a little jealous of you and your running abilities. My dang knee won’t let me be as cool as you! ;) Have a good trip!!
