The treadmill was my only option yesterday morning so I decided to make it a good one and get in 10 miles.
For the last two miles I pushed myself and hit a 6:44 pace. It felt good to get the leg turnover going a bit. Now if only I could do 24.2 more miles at that pace:)
First thing I did when I got home was make this bowl of eggs, zucchini, green & yellow peppers, spinach, ground turkey and TJ’s South African Smoke seasoning.
Topped with mango salsa from Costco because that stuff tastes good on anything and everything.
I have mastered being able to play dollhouse with Brooke and foam roll at the same time. Efficient and a great way to keep myself distracted from the foam roller eating my IT bands alive. PS HERE is my foam rolling video!
After nap time we drove up North to finish up our Christmas shopping. The hat didn’t make it home with us.
And because Jason’s Deli was across the street we were pretty much forced to go for my favorite salad bar.
Why doesn’t every restaurant give you free ice cream as a parting gift?
Tradition #13 (a new one that we are adding)—> we went and saw this incredible tree in Draper. I have been seeing this all over instagram and so I needed to go see it for myself. A few sections of the lights were out but it was pretty spectacular.
And then we walked around the Draper Temple and it started to snow while we were there. All of these traditions are making December by far my favorite month.
PS Here is the recipe for the peanut butter bars that I posted yesterday. They are amazing!
I hope your Sunday is off to a great start!!!

I love Christmas lights, those are so pretty!
I’ve spent alot of time on the foam roller lately too. My IT bands are really tight and foam rolling makes them feel considerably better. Sometimes I lay with the foam roller on my neck while I’m watching TV. I’m pretty certain I could fall asleep that way.
6:44 on the treadmill?! I’m pretty sure I’d fly off the end of it! That’s incredible! Way to go!

I always need to distract myself while foam rolling! I usually scroll through Instagram or Facebook on my phone. I’m gonna go check out that recipe- they looked so good and I was thinking yesterday that they would be great to bake this week to change things up from all the chocolate chip cookies I’ve made lately:) Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Wow.. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to run 10 miles on a treadmill! I can hardly get through 5 without getting antsy! What is your secret?
Loribeth
I can see the perks of a treadmill like being able to run no matter the weather, and not having any reason not to run, even at 11pm, but recently I housesat for someone with a treadmill, and I only made it 3 miles because I was so bored! Even the tv did not distract me enough! I would so much rather be outside, even if it is freezing! Did you ever hate the treadmill? How do you learn to like it?
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
10 miles on the treadmill, wow! It always feels so much harder for me on there. Love that huge salad. I’m always foam rolling or stretching with toys surrounding me :)
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
Wow ten miles! I can do 3-4 on the treadmill before I get bored. Thankfully I live in Phoenix where the weather is generally good enough to be outdoors. I see you read on the treadmill. I get dizzy easy and have never been able to do the two together but it’s nice when you can find a distraction.

This is completely unrelated to this post but I’ve been meaning to ask for awhile – where do you get Brooke’s knotted headbands? Thanks!!!

10 on the treadmill is about the maximum that I can do before losing my mind! However, at a 6:44 pace I’d just fly off and die :-)
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
I wish we had a Jason’s Deli. I am always reading about it and I want to make my own big salad!
Sarah
So fun! We’ve yet to see the tree of life in draper! I hear it amazing!
Kristina @ Blog About Running
10 beautiful miles in sunny 60 degree weather has made my morning AMAZING!
Now I am wondering what to make for Second Breakfast (you know, the *other* breakfast you are entitled to eat after a long run). Your egg dish is sounding good! Minus the peppers for me!
Lindsey
Lately treadmill running has been my workout to go…way to icy here for this preggo lady
Jennifer
I love the jasons deli salad bar!
That’s some awesome speed at the end of your treadmill run.

I am so impressed you can run 10 miles on the treadmill! I would die of boredom. You have a gift!
Linda @ TheFitty
What do you think about while running for so long?
Tricia @ A Couple of Dashes
That salad you made after your run looks delicious! I picked up those turkey burgers from Costco and have been enjoying them with lots of veggies lately!

Nice work running today Janae. I’m glad everything is going smoothly for you and I hope you have a happy Sunday!
Caroline @ The Little Things Blog
That tree is beautiful! I absolutely love driving around to look at all the light displays!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
It’s so cute that you guys are soaking up the holiday season with all these traditions. Love it! And I also love foam rolling. I need a new one! Happy Sunday:)
Suzy
I run way slower on the treadmill, mile for mile, compared to outside and I have no idea why! I’ve given up on my pace on that thing and just watch Netflix while I slog out the miles.
Marissa @ Run Riss Run
We took yesterday off and slept in so we did our long run today in the cold fog and it was actually kind of nice. It made it feel like December! I need mango salsa, that looks delicious! Enjoy your Sunday!
Brenda @ Don't Lose the Trail
I am definitely going to be foam rolling today after running my first ultramarathon yesterday! I know you are super into the trails these days so I thought you might like to check out my recap – lots of beautiful train pics!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend Janae!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan
I’m weird, I like my treadmill. :) Nice work on the 10 miles!
My Sunday started off with sleeping in, so it’s going well so far! I have no real plans either, other than some running and foam rolling.
jessica
Beautiful Christmas tree. And the salad looks good.
Looks like you had a good weekend :)
tess
Oh the tree. Amazing.
And good heavens that’s a salad. It’s huge. It looks delicious. Now I want salad.
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
That tree is amazingly beautiful!
I’ve run a few ten milers on my treadmill recently but nowhere near as fast as you! 6:44 is like my mile race pace—you are so fast!! Excited to read about your Boston training!
Hope you and Brooke have a wonderful Sunday!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties
I love brooke with her hair down- so precious!

Wow! 10 miles on a treadmill is amazing!! The longest I have ever Been able to do on there is 3kms. At that point I was hating it so much that I gave up and went for a run outside, even though there was a hurricane! I figured I was more likely to die of boredom on the treadmill than I was to die in the hurricane!
Amy
10 miles on the treadmill… you rock! I did 4 yesterday and was already starting to get bored.
Were you reading while running that 10-miler, too?! I think I would fall off if I tried to read. Music or watching a movie while I run seems to be best for me, though even trying to focus on the TV screen can make me lose balance (blame it on pregnancy… though pretty sure I lacked balance pre-pregnancy, too).
Beautiful Christmas lights! I should try foam-rolling while playing tractors with my son. I’m such a slacker with post-run rolling!
carolinerose
I am from Oz and i worked out that that is 16 kms on a treadmill, you have got to be kidding! i could only last 10 kms on the treadmill, please could you tell us your secret?????? i dont mind the treadmill at all but lasting 16kms, i dunno :(
Christy L.
Your salad building skills are amazing. I need a Jason’s deli to practice with. So jealous! That place is so great. Every time a new restaurant opens I pray is going to be a JD. No luck so far.
We are finally getting a chance to see Christmas lights tonight.
James
Will be using the treadmill this week for the first time in ages. Not great running conditions here in Northern Ireland at the minute. Will also be attempting the peanut butter bars :)
Rachel @ Blonde with a Chanse
December really is awesome!!! I love all of your fun traditions :)
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner
December is becoming a great month for me too! I am loving the holidays.
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
I wish I could read while on the treadmill but all the bouncing makes it impossible for me. At my old gym there was a cardio cinema that would be in the dark and I could run and watch a movie on a giant theater screen, but alas I have moved and can’t do that anymore. Boo.
Liz @ A Latte Running
I love how you make 10 miles seem like such an easy workout – especially on a treadmill :)
CARLA
ahhh I need to get my BOOTY and IT BAND back to the foam roller.
Kay
I love the holiday traditions, it must be so fun to do and add new ones each year!
