Our Family Pictures:)

We got our pictures back from NIKI and here are some of our favorites (I have more coming up in Brooke’s 2 year old update on HRG Baby next week)!

Yes, I did attempt to make us have the exact same hairstyle.

———————————————-

Dinner was a good one.  I made a turkey burger (ground turkey and mexican seasoning) with avocado, cheese and a side of corn and peaches.

IMG 7523

My dad taught me this trick-  Wrap your corn in a wet paper towel and cook it for about 5 minutes (I turn it half-way through) in the microwave and boom… You have delicious corn without having to boil water etc.

IMG 7521

This cold has made me really enjoy couch time and I think Brooke is okay with that too.

IMG 7532

I met a new friend (in real life and not through the internet for the first time in years:) and we went and got the good stuff.

‘Don’t cry over spilt milk’—>  I do cry over spilt froyo.  It hurt my heart a little.

IMG 7540

And even though I had no desire to stretch/foam roll/use this evil golf ball to roll out my foot, I did because in order to keep running injury free I have to keep up with all of the little things.

IMG 7544

I hope you have a great run today or this weekend whether it is indoor on a treadmill or outside on the roads or trails.

I think I am rubbing off on her:

What are you most excited about this weekend?

-My sis is sleeping over cause her family will be gone.  We are going to party until at least midnight.

If you could have any breakfast delivered to you right this second.. What would it be?

-A huge omelet with tons of avocado, an apple fritter and a glass of fresh orange juice.

What workout do you have planned for this weekend?

Ah you can delete my first comment. For some reason my phone has had a hard time commenting on your blog lately. Anyways, you and Brooke are so gorgeous. Those photos really came out well, I could not be happier for you both. I love your outfits! I really like ordering omelets at any restaurant because I struggle so much to cook them myself.

Those pictures are so great! I’m really excited to run a half marathon in Dingle, Ireland tomorrow morning. It will be my first race abroad and my first race since March… it’s been a long time coming.

I think I would pick pancakes of some sort with breakfast sausage and lots of maple syrup. I will probably do an at home workout of sorts this weekend. I have exciting plans to visit my parents and have a shopping day with my mom!

Reply

Your photos turned out wonderfully! You look so beautiful in all of them and I love how your photographer really captured Brooke’s huge, beautiful eyes. I am so jealous you’re getting to chill out on the couch–I’ve been running around like crazy all week and need to chill out a bit. I’m running a half marathon on Sunday which I’m really excited about and tacking on 7 miles before the race (hopefully) for a total of 20!

Looks like Brooke is watching Mickey’s A Christmas Carol and the shirt movies after. That is my daughter’s favorite that she usually begs to watch every single day!

Reply

Gorgeous pics!
I love sibling sleepovers! This weekend I’m hitting the farmers market so I can get a bunch of things canned. Canning is so much work but worth it when I can open a bottle of peaches in January!

Reply

Sooooo beautiful!!! The pictures came out amazing :D

Gorgeous pictures! You two are the cutest :)
I would have the veggie omelet from Herm’s Inn in Logan delivered. It’s delicious and comes with the yummiest breakfast potatoes.

Pancakes bacon and scrambled eggs!
I have a 4 mile race on Saturday.
I’m most looking forward to running in Central Park. Somehow I haven’t been there for a race since June. That’s a long time for me.

I’m just excited to have no plans. Just hanging out at home and relaxing. I am on a down week with training, so even my long run isn’t very long!

Today is the first day it’s actually cool here in a long time, so a big bowl of oatmeal with fresh berries sounds really good. I wouldn’t complain about a donut either!

Have a great weekend! Hope you get to feeling better!

Reply

Her eyes are SO pretty!!! And that sponge bob golf ball does look a little evil…

Reply

All the pictures are adorable, I can’t even decide which one I like best! If I could have someone deliver breakfast to me right now it would definitely be biscuits and gravy…with a side of bacon. Sadly, I think I’ll have to settle for cereal this morning.
Have a great weekend!

Brooke looks so different with her hair down! She’s such a cutie pie!

I was PLANNING to go running tonight, but my services are being “requested” elsewhere, to finish the move from our old house to our new. Not too pleased, but it’s got to get done.

I hate moving.

Reply

Great pics! You guys are gorgeous!

Cream cheese & black olive omelet.

Working the plan for the half in two weeks, long runs over! Heading to the farmers market instead. We have a sausage guys there who makes yummy sausages. It’s that time of year.

Will try the golf ball.

Have a great weekend! Enjoy!

Reply

Absolutely gorgeous pictures Janae! This weekend I have a few new gym classes to attend :)

Reply

The photos of you and Brooke are great! You must be so happy with them.

I’d like french toast with a ton of fruit on the side for breakfast.

Reply

The pics look awesome. I especially love Brooke’s jean shirt – adorable! And extra couch time is never a bad thing!! :) Happy Friday.

Reply

Cannot even handle the cuteness that is Brooke.

My dream workout would be running for forever and then coming home to family and a pile of warm doughnuts. The end.

Reply

Janae!! I LOVE your family pictures! So cute! Do you still use the instyler? I noticed you wrote that you used it for Brooke’s hair. I have one and for the life of me cannot get it to work well. Can you show a tutorial?! Hungry Runner Girl + Hairstylist! It definitely has a good rhyme to it! :)

Reply

Oh! And when I make a turkey burger, I add an egg or two to the ground turkey PLUS some breadcrumbs. I promise you it’s magical!

Reply

Beautiful pictures.
Best breakfast? hmmmm . Veggie lasagna. Not a breakfast food person! :)
Double run Sunday, 8+7…looking forward to it!

Reply

Absolutely beautiful pictures of you two!!!

Girls’ night tonight (my 18 month old is the only boy allowed…haha) and then a long run tomorrow. Hoping for 12 miles!

Reply

does your treadmill not fit in your new apartment? I noticed you’ve been running at the gym. that treadmill was awesome!!!

Reply

It doesn’t. It is in storage until I move to a bigger place!

I just started doing my corn in the microwave, but a little different than you. First I chop the bottom end off but leave the husk on and just lay it on a damp paper towel. Then I microwave, 3-5 minutes depending on how many ears. Then I let them continue to steam themselves in the husk for about 2-3 minutes. Finally you just peel the husk and silk right off soooooooo easily! My husband will even squeeze his out the bottom where I’ve cut. Give it a try, it’s the best and saves you from shucking corn and getting silk everywhere!

I’m pretty excited about my workout this weekend. I’m doing the Rivalry Relay as an ultra team with my husband and good girlfriend. We will run from University of Utah to Provo (61 miles). Our team name is Band of Runners. It should be a great time. We have the legs divided up so we each run two legs back to back so we will all run a total of three times. We are all running St. George too, so in a way this is one of our long training runs, just broken up!

Have a blast with your sister. And, I just finished a bowl of frosted mini wheats and I wish another bowl would magically appear haha.

Reply

We are taking the kids to a water park for the first time this weekend! Woohoo!

The hubs and I are planning on running 14 miles tomorrow, I’m kind of waiting to see how the shins are feeling.

Reply

Brooke is Gorgeous!!! love the pics!

Reply

Love the pictures! Y’all are both gorgeous!!

An egg scramble from my favorite restaurant. No weekend runs for me and I’m devastated. I’ve been nursing tight calf pain and it’s just not getting loose until about 30 min into my runs so I’m resting it for a while. Good thing I used to be a swimmer :). Although there’s nothing quite like runner endorphins. Let’s hope my children and family survive a non-running me ;). Enjoy your weekend with that sweet girl and your sister. How fun! Beautiful pics!

Reply

Wonderful photos! Workouts for the weekend = 20 mile bike ride + yoga on Saturday and 4-5 miles on Sunday. I used to take Sunday to rest but I have decided to make my rest day on Monday because it’s so quiet out on the weekends and I like to take advantage of “reducing my chances of being hit by a driver not paying attention”.
Looking forward to Saturday afternoon/evening date with my husband (watching Oregon Ducks football while indulging in wings + beer). Simple things in life make me happy.

Reply

Those pictures melt my heart.

Any breakfast delivered? Beignets and café au lait from Morning Call in New Orleans. I miss home. :(

Reply

Gorgeous photos!!!!

Reply

Those pictures are gorgeous! I do agree that in order to keep running, especially high miles, you have to commit not just to the running workouts but also to all the little things like stretching, sleep, and nutrition.
If I could have any breakfast right now it would be a giant cinnamon roll from Granny Annie’s in Kaysville or Angie’s in Logan. Mmmm.

Reply

Your family pictures are great. Where did you get Brooke’s dress?

Reply

Thank you!!! It is from baby gap!!!!

Reply

Oh my gosh-I just about died from over swooning at those adorable family pics!!! You ladies are the cutest!!! I’m officially moved to San Diego now, so my workout this weekend will be loading and unloading then loading and unloading again for the Grape Day 5k on Saturday, then running the Aloha run 5I on Sunday. Life in San Diego working for a running production company is the best! Oh, and thanks for the stretching faves yesterday-good reminder to do them-I’m a stretching slacker.

Reply

omg that last outfit brooke is wearing – I want that whole outfit in my size. We seriously have the same style. Haha

Reply

I’m most excited about brady’s first soccer game this weekend… he’s three and a half and I think little ones playing soccer is super cute…

I would have stuffed french toast with whipped cream and strawberries… I’m uber hungry today;(

I would like to run at least 10 miles this weekend… Saturday is going to be a crazy busy day, so IF it happens it will be sunday… but i’m kind of looking forward to me, my ipod, my garmin on the open country road… I need some ME time

Reply

Did that golf ball come from Target? Because I just bought a whole pack of them! They are evil — as are baseballs! But so effective!

Great photos, btw. You’re both adorable!

Reply

Yes!!!!! Target hahahah!

Reply

This has been a long second week of school… granted my students are still great, but I am looking forward to shopping for a dress to wear to my brother’s wedding.

I already had two omelettes this morning because I was extra hungry, but I would really like a cinnamon roll (if I didn’t have to watch what I am eating before the wedding).

During the week, I always go on the treadmill… so I am looking forward to a workout on the prairie near my apartment.

Reply

This weekend is the Ventura Marathon. Hey! that paper towel trick works for everything… especially for left overs that have been in the fridge. It creates steam, and makes things moist. In hawaii, whenever we ate rice out of the fridge, we would take a wet paper towel and cover it before nuking it. It would steam and make the rice “sticky” again! Works for mostly everything!

Reply

Your pictures are gorgeous!!! I had to bump up my long run to today because of weekend travel and I would LOVE a blueberry waffle!!!

Reply

love love love the pictures – you both are so beautiful. Her cheeks!!

We have a brewery crawl tomorrow with some friends (yay for being DD….) and then a cookout, followed by another small party on Sunday…it’s going to be a busy one!

Oh and I’d love a donut OR some french toast with strawberries…and whipped cream.

Reply

Hey! Saw your article in Women’s Running Mag the other day, SOO cool. You’re pretty amazing:)

Those pics are GORGEOUS!!! Thanks for sharing! Have an awesome weekend!

Reply

Omg, those pictures are unbelievably adorable – I absolutely love that you styled your hair the same haha! So darn cute!

I just had a plate of whole wheat protein pancakes, but I could seriously go for a huge stack of Belgium waffles, topped with strawberries and powdered sugar. Nom noms…

I’m hoping to get some strength training in this weekend, maybe even a track workout outside, if the weather is nice. Hope you have a great weekend!

Reply

Beautiful pics!!

An even easier corn trick? Put the whole ear of corn in the microwave (husk and all) and microwave for 4 minutes. Cut off the bottom and squeeze corn out of husk….VIOLA! perfect corn and none of the annoying little silky hairs!!

Reply

Brilliant! Thank you!!!!

Reply

such sweet pictures!

Reply

I am excited to spend some time with my son this weekend! I’m not sure what we will all do yet.

I have a long run planned for tomorrow am…

Tomorrow I have a ten miler planned, and then going to our town’s annual Popcorn Festival with my fiance! For breakfast I want a big cinnamon raisin bagel smeared in honey cream cheese or peanut butter – that might just have to happen after the long run tomorrow.
Have a great weekend :)

And you totally made the hair work. It looks great!

Reply

Looking forward to my sons soccer games tomorrow and a 10 miler run.
Your photos are absolutely gorgeous!
Have a blast with your sis! Do we get to know what she’s having? Either way such a blessing!!!

Reply

So beautiful! I can’t believe how long Brooke’s hair is getting! My easy corn trick is just microwaving it for 1:30 with the husk on. My microwave must be really fast! If I could have any breakfast… pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and a chocolate milkshake!

Reply

I am most excited to sleep in tomorrow! Back to school routine means a lot of 5:00 am wake-up calls to get to the gym before school. I would have blueberry waffles delivered to me right this second! I am going to try and get a moderately long 12-ish mile run in tomorrow before a cross training day on Sunday. My body needs a break but I want to get in a good one tomorrow and then take ‘er easy on Sunday ;)

Reply

Those photos are GORGEOUS!!!! I am most excited for two things:
1. This Sunday I am doing my first “race” since I had my daughter. Given life’s circumstances I will actually just be run/walking but it’s going to be good just to feel that vibe of an organized running event for the first time in a long time.
2. FOOTBALL! During football season I hold a weekly “open door” policy at my home and friends/family come over throughout the day and we watch football/visit/eat good food/hang out with loved ones. It’s one of my most favorite things about the fall.

Reply

Kelsey, I would totally come to your house to watch football!! What a super great idea.

Reply

Thanks Susan, It’s tonnes of fun!

Reply

I am most looking forward to the consultation for my photo shoot. I am giving myself a “fit at forty” present of a fun photo shoot!
If I could have any breakfast delived to me right now it would be a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on an english muffin AND a pumpkin donut.
This weekend’s workouts include 2 lifting sessions and a couple training run/walks with my Girlie. I love that her school has a 5k fundraiser instead of catalog sales! Actually, those runs are a very close second to the thing I am looking forward to!

Reply

These pictures are GORGEOUS!!! Love your hair!

Waffles or biscuits & sausage gravy are my favorite breakfast indulgences. And apple fritters. You and Brooke are so cute. You should totally do a tutorial on how you fix your hair. I always love it!!

My workout for the weekend is a split up 13 mile long run – half with a group and half on my treadmill.

Reply

Gorgeous pictures! Brooke is getting way too big.
20 miler on the books for tomorrow morning, followed by a date night. Since I wear my hair in a ponytail about 99.9% of the time I’m going to a dry bar for the first time. I’m not sure who’s more excited for me to get dressed up, me or the hubs.

Reply

Could you and Brooke be any more beautiful?? I think not. Love your family pics!

I am in Florida this weekend down from NY for my best friend’s son’s Bar Mitzvah! So much fun to get away for a bit and party….
