I need your help with an important matter.

Just the usual dance party with my sister in the driveway.  When dancing we both do the robot for 90% of the time.  It is kind of our signature move.

IMG 3058

The monthly niece date went down last night.

IMG 3065

One of my nieces is here visiting from Kentucky and so I let her choose where we went for dinner and dessert.

Cafe Rio love runs in my family’s blood.  We can’t help our genetics.

Brooke now says CHEESE and smiles as big as she can when I get the camera out.

IMG 3068

And for dessert she chose to go for dipped ice cream cones

IMG 3073

And last but not least, we went on a walk and along the way we saw that the porta potties for the marathon are already set up along the course.  Things are getting serious.

IMG 3110

After dropping my three dates off it was Netflix (Scrubs:) for me followed by an early bed time because at least I can control getting enough sleep before the race!

I could not agree more with this (except there needs to be an easy running % too):

NewImage

As Josse pointed out, the Marathon Gods are watching out for us by giving us cooler temps for race day.

IMG 3050

MOST IMPORTANTLY… I need your help on deciding my race day outfit because it is such an important matter that needs serious consideration.

Which one!?!

1,2,3 or decide the morning of because it really isn’t that big of a deal;)

IMG 3114

Finish the sentence:  I am stoked for this weekend because _________________.

Who is racing this weekend?  Where?  What?

Middle one! I love the yellow and you’ll be easy to spot on the course :) plus it’s supposed to be super sunny and that’s not a good time to wear black.

Ideal racing temps are around 40-45 for me! And I am stoked for this weekend because I’m going to make tacos and watch 2 very big World Cup games :)

Reply

I am stoked for this weekend because my oldest graduates high school tonight and Sunday we’re off for disneyland!!

I vote for race outfit #2. Are those shorts red? Cute!

Ideal racing temp for me is probably 50 with no sun.

Good luck tomorrow, can’t wait to read about it!!

I like the middle one. It’s cheery and bright!!
I am stoked for this weekend because I am doing the Oakley mini 10k in Central Park. I will mostly be walking since i am still recovering from tendonitis. But I know I will get a flower at the finish. Ideal running temp is 55 degrees.

Reply

My ideal racing temp is probably 45 with cloud cover. I’m doing a 10k tomorrow and it’s supposed to be pretty warm and sunny but I guess that’s what I signed up for! In the NY/NJ area I feel like I’m either racing in below 30 or above 60, not too much in the middle!

Serious good luck to you for your marathon! I’m excited/nervous for you! Can’t wait to hear how it goes.

I would go with 2, I like the yellow :)

Reply

I like outfit #1! Everyone talks about needing a LBD (little black dress) for every occasion, but really we all need a LBS (little black shorts) for every running occasion!

Reply

Number 3…………kinda has that African “Lion King” feel to it and I just rewatched that movie…………….Disney had some amazing movies in the 90’s………now every other one is disappointing.

I am stoked for this weekend because…wedding planning!

Not racing this weekend, my half was last weekend and I set a PR coming in just under 2 hours!!

Ideal racing temp: about 55 degrees and low humidity……..not an easy thing to come by in the South!

Good luck out there this weekend!!

I like the middle outfit. Bright!! I actually love running in hot temps….it’s in my southern blood. Good luck at the race. Don’t push yourself—one race isn’t worth weeks of not running post race. :-)

I am stoked for this weekend because it starts my 3 week summer break. I am a preschool special ed teacher and we have a 3 week break at the start of summer and a 2 week one at the end. I get my girls for a solid 3 weeks and my niece added for one of those.
Outfit 2 because it is bright.

Good luck and have fun!!!

I like #2 because the bright top helps people pick you out of a crowd and getting extra cheers is always encouraging! Also, I think brighter colors help you feel faster :)

I am stoked for this weekend because….its Father’s day and I don’t get to see my dad and my siblings and my nieces and nephews often, but we always get together at my dad’s (6 hours away!!) for Father’s Day.

Love outfit #1!

I am stoked for this weekend because it’s race weekend – Rock n’ Sole half marathon, and it is my little sister’s FIRST half marathon, so I am even more excited for her!!

Ideal racing temperature is about 55*. Cool enough to not deal with heat and overheating, but not so cool that you can’t wear a tank top and get some sunshine, too!

Good luck tomorrow, Janae!! I’ll be thinking of you during my race. Sending healthy vibes your way!

Hey, at least this year there WILL be porta potties ;)

I think 48 degrees sounds perfect!

This weekend I am looking forward to cheering on some amazing running friends, watching my kids run the kids race and date night with the husband later that day. Perhaps it will have to end with a dipped cone, cause those look tasty.

Good luck tomorrow Janae. I know that if anyone can do this, it is you. You are strong physically and mentally. Time to let all doubt go away.

Reply

Dipped ice cream cones sounds super good!! I am stoked for this weekend because I have a Skype Date Planned with my boyfriend :). And pick outfit #3!! Good Luck this weekend (even though you’re going to do great)!!

I’m excited for the weekend because I’m cohosting the Dinner in White (http://dinnerinwhiteslc.com/) with some friends tomorrow night, and it’s gonna be AWESOME! Plus I’ll be staying at my aunt’s house at the mouth of Emigration Canyon which means a lovely long run up and down the canyon Saturday morning.

Reply

Hi Janae!
I really like #3. Those shorts are great! If the weather is a little cooler, it might be okay to wear a black tank top, no?
I am looking forward to this weekend because my brother-in-law is getting married. Family weddings are super fun and I can’t wait to dance, dance, dance into the night. Perhaps I can steal some of your super fly robot moves.
Fun running fact: I live in Southern Ontario, Canada, and today a cancer survivor is running 100 km for raise awareness. I think she calls her run, 1 Run. I work at my church and we just saw her running past! (And she was going pretty fast!) Pretty cool, eh?
Totally random: I didn’t post a comment the other day, but I think it is worth mentioning that Brooke has A-MAZING eyelashes. Think of all the money she will save not having to get extensions! ;)

Reply

2 and GOOD LUCK this weekend! Will say a prayer for you and have fun! No racing for me but I have a 7 mile training run tomorrow and am looking forward to running on a pretty day! 1. Light colors – it will be hot
2. Lightweight when wet – you’ll sweat a lot
3. Tight enough not to chafe when salty with sweat.
Seventies isn’t terrible, but for a marathon, that’s a touch warm. Make that your priority and start hydrating now. Good luck, lady!
