Whenever I can’t run I am reminded of how much…

BROOKE IS BACK!!!

 IMG 2111

A few readers asked about how Brooke gets to California for her visitations with her dad—>  My mom takes her every other month and the months she doesn’t go there he comes here to see Brooke.  I went a few times to take Brooke to California and I LOVED seeing my California friends while I was there (I miss them dearly) BUT… going back is still hard for me.  I am an out of sight, out of mind kind of a person so going there is tough, and the memories from last summer in California… nope, not ready for that yet.  Give me a few more months and I am sure I will be ready to do the drop-off/pick-up thing:)  Added bonus is that my mom’s sister lives there so she gets to spend the weekend with her!

—————————

Whenever I get injured I remember how much I love different types of fitness classes/workouts etc.  Turns out there is more to life than running and there are other ways to work up a sweat.

Megan (laying down because the class was so hardcore that we just wanted to collapse at the end) and I went to Barefoot BootCamp which combines hot yoga and kettlebells.  Oh my goodness, I have never sweat so much in my life.  This workout was intense and now I just need to find a studio near me that offers this class because I loved it.

IMG 2081

Megan gave me one of these to try after class.  Amazing.

Drove the 3.5 hours home and of course I stopped for a Subway because I don’t remember a road trip where I didn’t stop at Subway to eat.

Nothing wrong with eating your salad with the steamed broccoli, quinoa, turkey bacon, sweet potato and cottage cheese right out of the Costco salad container.

 IMG 2092

My friend’s Zucchini bread/waffle/pancake recipe!!  It is in the above picture and we had it with dinner last night.

2.5 cups of oats you blend in the blender until smooth like flour

1 cup plain greek yogurt

2 eggs

1/3 cup of agave (you could use 1/2 c. honey)

1.5 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

2 TBS ground flax seed

1 TBS vanilla

2 ripe bnanas

1 cup shredded zucchini and 1 TBS cinnamon and 1 TBS pumpkin pie spice

Mix it all up and bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or use the batter and cook them up like pancakes using coconut oil in the pan!

She wraps these up individually and freezes them so that she can eat them for an on the go breakfast.

——————————————

Brooke makes sure to always feed her baby doll at least 40% of her meal.

I need your help.  I am seriously considering getting a Dessert Bullet… you just stick in a frozen banana and any other frozen fruit in and it sounds amazing but I need to hear reviews from anyone that has one!! THANK YOU!

I’ve never tried a kind bar but some of the flavors sound amazing so I keep meaning to try one. One word to describe my mood right now? Sadly, “stressed.” So much going on for the next few weeks and I just can’t wait to be done with the craziness.

Reply

Had a very HOT tempo run this morning in 75 plus humidity!

That workout looks insane, hot yoga really scares me (I am not into heat) but I’m sure I should just get over it and try something like that!

Glad you have Brooke back with you! She’s so cute feeding the doll. My son who’s 3 does the same thing. My mood right now is HAPPY since I got my tempo done and I’m feeling badass :)

Reply

My favorite kind bar is the Dark Chocolate + Peanut Butter. If you need something more substantial, adding a bit of extra peanut butter to the top is a *really* good idea :D One of the best pre-run snacks!

Reply

Love KIND bars. The yogurt ones are especially great! It’s definitely starting to warm up here in Texas. We’ve had temps in the high 80’s and low 90’s. Thanks for sharing the recipe…. sounds like a good one!

Reply

I love hot yoga but since I live in Florida and we have free yoga on the beach, I just combine the two. Works like a charm and yet another reason you should visit Florida :)

Reply

So my youngest is allergic to Oats, any suggestion for a substitution? Could I just make it less healthy and use flour? This would be something she would love.

Oh and the dessert bullet. We often make desserts like I think what they are suggesting for that. We freeze fruit then stick it in my little $15 food chopper and voila banana/strawberry icecream, etc. Just a thought!

I love that Brookers’ mouth is open as she’s trying to get her doll to open up to take a bite. Melts my heart! So glad she’s back. I’ve tried the Yonanas machine (which I think is similar) and while it was great, I didn’t use it much because it started to take up precious counter space. I also dreaded cleaning it. But if you’re someone who will use it often, it’s worth it.

Reply

I also have looked into those things and can’t wait to read what people say! I have always wanted a Yonanas but they are pretty big and I just dont have the space for it in my house!
I do love Hot Yoga but i haven’t been in YEARS…I loved it when I went though!!!

This morning i was able to run at 4:45 in shorts and a t shirt-i am thinking it might get kinds hot today!!!

Places always hold memories for me, I totally 100% get what you mean about not visiting Cali yet!

Reply

My kids have the Dole Yonanna’s Maker, it looks similar to the one your looking at. You just freeze fruit, semi defrost and run it through. It comes out smooth and creamy. The trick is to use bananas with all the other fruit. Super easy to use and clean up. It’s kind of like having a soft serve ice cream, but all good for you fruit.

Reply

I need to find a dessert bullet! I’ve never seen one before!

Reply

I get to see (and hug you) in just a few short days!!!

Reply

I don’t have the Dessert Bullet, but I do have the Nutribullet (they’re made by the same company) and I LOVE it! It’s by far the best blender/mini food processor I’ve ever had. I make juices and smoothies in it everyday and it couldn’t be easier. Super easy to clean! As an added bonus, I can make the ‘ice creams’ and sorbets just as easily in the Nutribullet. Also, if you or your mom have a food processor, I think you can do the frozen fruit desserts in one of those too. But I did see the HSN Dessert Bullet segment this weekend and totally had to talk myself down from buying one. My amount of available kitchen storage and counter space are sadly not equivalent to my love of kitchen appliances and gadgets. :)

Reply

I LOVE that flavor of KIND bar! And it was hot here in Chicago yesterday (about 83?) but we’ll be dipping back down this week. As long as it’s not freezing, I’m not complaining! Haha

Reply

I’ve never tried hot yoga, but I’ve always wanted to. My problem is I’m not much of a yoga person so I guess Im lacking the motivation to get to a studio. I’d much rather do something like running or kickboxing.

Reply

I miss fitness classes and running soooooo much. My pregnancy turned high risk around 30/31 weeks so I’m not allowed to do anything. I can’t even walk more than a few blocks at a time right now because I am still recovering from a blood clot/DVT in my leg. 3-5 more weeks until baby girl Reichardt is here!

Reply

Yay for Brooke being back! Have a great week!

Hot yoga…love it! I feel so refreshed and lighter (so much sweating!) when I’m done. :-)

Reply

I loveeee hot yoga. I always leave feeling like I’ve sweat out every drop of stress possible. It is really hot in Florida…98 degrees this weekend! Guess I can just start doing hot yoga in my backyard now :)

Reply

I make my banana ice cream in the blender, not sure you need a special gadget for it but that’s just me – I hate too many gadgets lol…I love the dark chocolate cherry KIND bars but can’t always eat them much because I have a slight allergy to almonds (which I didn’t know contained almonds since it wasn’t in name of the bar until I started not feeling well and then read the ingredients lol).

Reply

I make mine in the blender too (Vitamix). I have been doing frozen mango and a frozen banana with a tiny bit of vanilla almond milk. AMAZING!

Reply

Hot yoga is so tough but awesome! I can’t imagine combining it with anything though… brutal!

I am in deep, deep love with Clif Mojo bars these days, especially the dark chocolate coconut almond bar. It’s heaven for my mouth.

Reply

I have a YoNanas (similar) and I LOVE it! It came with a recipe book so we never run out of ideas of what to make for dessert! Definitely recommend one!!

Btw, made your s’mores bars for a runners BBQ this weekend and they were a HUGE hit!! Thank your brother for me ;)

Have a great day and hope you are back to running soon! Happy to hear Brooke is back (I miss my little guy when I’m at work during the day so I imagine a whole weekend would be tough!!) HUGS!!

Reply

I LOVE Kind Bars!! They are so yummy!

Hot yoga is my absolute favorite! I sweat SOOOOO much and it is glorious. I will never understand people that don’t like it?

It’s super hot here down in the South! This past weekend it was in the 90s!

My mood is FANTASTIC right now because I only have a 2 day work week woo hoo!

Reply

105 in Phoenix! Love hot yoga but don’t love the stinky smell at some studios so caution for you as you look for a studio. You any actually make banana froyi in a regular food processor. You don’t need a fancy gadget. I actually have a post going up on it this week!

Reply

Not hot here in NH yet, except for a day here and there. I’m anxiously waiting for the water to warm up so that I can practice open-water swimming before my tri next month!!!

I’ve never tried hot yoga, but I did iron yoga for the first time last week, which sounds similar to what you did–yoga combined with weight lifting. It was a pretty good workout, but I think I prefer to do my yoga and weight lifting separately. :)

Reply

It was crazy hot this weekend, which is normal for D.C. It was almost 90 degrees, but the humidity makes it much worse. Also, my hair turned into a chia pet.

One word: Grateful. It’s not raining, and I get to run outside by the Washington Monument and Lincoln and the Capitol Building. How awesome is that?!

Reply

I love kind bars! I actually house sat for one of their employees a while back, they are great people with a great product. They are not as healthy as eating, say, plain crackers because of the dried fruit and sugar used to smooch them together but they are DELICIOUS and an awesome pick me up. Love em!

What a wonderful mom you have :) it must be so wonderful to be with family again.

HOT YOGA!! It’s the best! I go to a great studio in Baltimore where only some classes are hot but in the summer they don’t have very powerd AC= hot yoga. It’s amaZing and feels great to me! I have heard it’s a great complent to spinning too.

Reply

It was almost 90 here yesterday, but thankfully the temps will be down in the next few days!

Reply

Kind Bars are delicious! I haven’t had one in awhile– I should pick some up the next time I’m at the grocery store! The dessert bullet looks awesome- I think I’d use it all summer!

Reply

It’s thunderstorming here… which keeps the temps cool. :) I want one of those dessert bullets! I’ve been looking at Yonanas but then always talk myself out of it. I think it’s needed to survive hot TX summers :)

Reply

It’s remarkable to pay a quick visit this site and reading the views of all friends on the topic of this piece of writing, while I
am also eager of getting know-how.

Reply

I love Kind bars! So great for quick on the go snacks :). It is super hot in Ohio right now. Yesterday we had 80’s and almost 90’s. I LOVE it! Right now I have a headache so my mood is blah :(

Reply

That first picture of Brooke is the cutest! She’s such a happy little girl :)

Barefoot Bootcamp sounds intense!!! Yikes! I can’t handle hot yoga classes… but I LOVE the regular ones.

It’s 70’s and sunny in Boston right now, yay!

Reply

I am the exactly the same way Janae. If it’s out of sight, it’s so much easier because I don’t miss it. That goes with nearly everything in life though from relationships to running to cookies…ha ha…

I’m glad everything works out pretty well for you in that department. It’s funny because we have been debating getting a dessert bullet too. I think I’ll add one to my birthday list.

Reply

It didn’t get hot here, it just got humid. And uncomfortable. And so many bugs it’s like a biblical plague. Oh the bugs. I’m not big on heat so this is why I’ve never been a of things like hot yoga.

Reply

I love KIND bars! I think there’s a PB&J flavor and it’s pretty good! Do you have a good blender or a food processor? If so, use that to make your frozen banana ice cream and use the money you’ll save on it to buy Swedish Fish! :)

Reply

I do like Kind Bars! And a Subway stop is a MUST. I just found out I am gluten sensitive but still plan to have my Subway now and again. I did a 90 min Bikram class last summer (it was 105 degrees in the studio). I didn’t totally love it but felt quite amazing when I was done. My mood right now is happy/relaxed. I always feel that way after my swims!

Reply

It’s supposed to climb to 91° here today, but we had an absolutely gorgeous weekend with the temps in the 70’s! I don’t like the heat, so I can’t imagine taking a hot yoga class.

Reply

So glad Brooke is back – it must be so hard sending her away for the weekend sometimes. And that is awesome that your Mom can do the drop-off – I imagine it gets quite expensive even if she gets to see her sister.

I love KIND bars, I don’t pay attention to which ones I get though so I’m not sure which are my favorite.

It is going to be 90 degrees here today – yay!!! I love hot weather and the summer. I have been sick with a cold, sinus infection, cough for an entire week so haven’t gone running at all. Boo. Feeling like my head is going to explode does not mesh well with running. And now my eyes are all goopy so I think the infection has spread to my eyeballs too. Ugg.

Have a great day!

Reply

LOVE hot yoga. Classes do differ a lot so if you take one and don’t like it make sure you try a different version.

By the way, you have been making me crave frozen yogurt so often already this summer. You’re such a good influence :)

Reply

I’m not a huge fan of Kind Bars – I love peanut butter and all nut butters but the whole nuts get caught in my teeth and they are too hard.

My mood now is nervous! I made a big purchase and I’m a bit worried. Hopefully it will all work out.

Reply

I love hot yoga. I do it at least once a week. And the weather where I live is probably the same as you- I live in layton :)

Reply

hot yoga is my favourite right now! I love the idea of combining a hot yoga class with kettlebells, that’s awesome (and sounds killer). As for KIND bars, the dark chocolate and peanut butter is my favourite – it tastes like a healthy Snickers bar to me.

Reply

I LOVE Kind bars, they’re my fave. The one I had was coconut & almond (I think?). Anything with coconut is my instant best friend.

I’m glad Brooke is back! I have a love/hate with hot yoga because if I don’t drink enough water prior to the class I feel like I might die. But when you have a good class, you feel like a million bucks :)

Reply

hot yoga and kettlebells sounds like a ridiculous combo!!! I have been so tempted to buy myself an ice-cream maker lately, I just keep thinking about all the different ice-cream I could make myself…….

Reply

I have never had a Kind bar–but they do look good.

One word for mood… impatient (for school-year to end).

I am not sure about the banana soft-serve machine, but I think Chow.com might have a review. I am trying to find a cheap, good blender/grinder to make green-juice, and I definitely cannot afford a NINJA. Let me know if you know of one. Thanks

Reply

Welcome back Brookie! Wahoo!

I LOVE hot yoga…is it weird that I don’t like regular yoga but LOVE hot yoga?! lol I’m sad bc the closest spot is like 40 minutes away… I wish they would build a studio closer.

The temps are finally getting to around 80 even though its looking like 65 tomorrow:( Mother nature hates us over here.

one word to describe my mood right now is… chill….

Reply

I LOVE Kind bars! My favorites are the cranberry almond and blueberry pomegranate cashew kinds. They would always keep me going through my afternoon classes and runs.
In Maryland right now it is pretty warm – 75* during my 8 am run! However I’m heading back to New Hampshire for the summer tomorrow, and it’s still pretty cool there.

Reply

I LOVE hot yoga! I’m quite the fanatic – it makes me feel so accomplished by the end. I had a multi-class pass last summer but had to skip it this summer to save mula. One day I’ll be back! I’ve done a separate kettle bell workout but never one that combines both – that sounds crazy intense!

It’s already HOT (to me) here in Cleveland… actually just about 80 but combined with humidity that feels pretty bad!

My mood right now… EXCITED because I’m about to go running :)

Reply

Hot yoga with kettlebells sounds like a really cool workout! I used to do hot yoga a lot, but I haven’t done it in a while. I should get back to it. The temps are getting HOT here in Denver this week – not quite ready for it yet.

Reply

mmm, that is my all-time favorite kind of Kind Bars! I have one in my lunch bag for a snack during work today! Kind Bar also had some really good granola bars that I’ve been loving recently – the peanut butter dark chocolate chip one is the best!

Reply

Yay for Brooke being back! And your salad and that bread looks amazing!! So maybe one word to describe my mood is..hungry? Even though I ate breakfast already. I only got like 4hrs of sleep last night before it was time to hit the gym. Whenever I have crappy nights of sleep, I am more hungry the next day.

It is so hot. Janae, how the eff did you survive a Summer pregnancy. I woke up 2x last night sweating. Blah.

The dark chocolate and sea salt KIND bar is fabulous. There is an almond and coconut one that tastes like the chewy Chex mix I love so much and an apricot macadamia nut one I also really like.

Hope your day is fabulous and you get a great pool run in :)

Reply

I have a Yonanas, it’s like the dessert bullet. Blends up my frozen fruit, and makes it just like froyo, then I add some chocolate chip sometimes and that just makes it 10x as good!

It was in the high 90’s, but it’s finally cooling off!!! Going to be in the low 80’s by the end of the week :).

Omg, I’m in love with the fact that that workout class is barefoot. I have a gym at my house, and I always workout barefoot (except for leg workouts). It just feels so much better!

Reply

I LOVE Kind bars! They are a great quick and tasty pick-me-up! Tons of different flavors and I haven’t found one I didn’t like yet! It is super hot here in OK! Reaching into the 80’s and 90’s already! One word to describe my mood is stressed! Tons of stuff to do today with little time to do it!

Reply

I have never heard of that Dessert Bullet, that looks awesome! If you get it, you’ll have to give us a product review! Sounds so cool!

Texas was crazy hot earlier in May but we’ve had some rainy days that have kept the weekend a really nice solid 80 degrees, which is practically a cold front for us, so we’re enjoying it! And we’ve really needed the rain.

Whenever I have an “extra income month” where I find myself with extra cash, I do a month of yoga at a local studio, it’s warm yoga (about 95) but not as hot as Bikram, and I LOVE IT. It’s such a great complementary workout for running, and it really relaxes me and keeps me in touch with my body. One day I hope I’ll be able to be more consistent with it, because it is great!

Reply

I like the dark chocolate cherry almond. It’s really good. There was also a KIND bar with pecans and cinnamon. I really enjoyed that one as well.

Reply

I haven’t met a KIND bar I haven’t liked yet. ;) Needless to say, I love ’em! Glad your Brookers is back! Mmmm that zucchini bread sounds so good! I may have to bookmark it and make it sometime soon. And yes, we’re in the Phoenix area (Gilbert), so as you know, it’s already quite hot. Although, it hasn’t been as bad as years past for this time of year, so I’m not complaining.

Reply

They have bickram yoga at thanksgiving point. I went once.
It is a great stretch work out and of
Course you sweat like crazy. It would be good for me to do but 90 min of exercise that’s not cardio is hard for me to do!

Reply

I’ve never tried hot yoga but am a MASSIVE fan of kettlebells… they’re probably my favourite workout. I train with a group of women outdoors with them and it’s awesome (though saying that, it’s pouring with rain so it should get pretty messy)

In the UK, I think the equivalent of Kind bars are either Eat Natural or Nakd, both are so good I can’t resist.

Mood = tired and my brain feels like it’s falling out of my ears. I’m studying for finals at the moment.

Reply

I’m lucky enough that it’s still pretty cool here in New England right now (great running weather, bad tanning weather!). It’s suppose to be around 72 degrees today. And hopefully it will be raining when I go running today. I think I’m one of the few people who loves to run in the rain.

Reply

Have you ever tried Picky Bars? They’re made by a trio of professional athletes (incl. Lauren Fleshman, who is my best friend in fantasyland), and I’m kind of obsessed with them. As for the hot temps, I’ve been visiting KY/Nashville/St. Louis down from my home in (now-much-cooler) Connecticut, and I’ve had quite the rude introduction to summer!

Reply

I LOVE hot yoga. Be prepared, the first few times you take it you will feel nauseated, but you feel so amazing after. I did it a lot when I was training for my first marathon and I credit it with keeping me injury-free!

Reply

ive never trid the dessert bullet but i have a vita mix and food processor and they both work the best to make banana icecream! I would invest in one of those if you can! More multipurpose use out of them. And the vitamix lasts decades!

Reply

I can’t get enough of the Almond Coconut Kind bars right now – it’s a dairy free option and I cut out dairy for a while to see if that helped my baby’s gas – but I’m back to my beloved cheese and milk because it turns out he’s just a gassy guy.

I love hot yoga – not a fan of Bikram but a regular yoga class with the heat turned up is great.

Reply

I just use a food processor to make my banana froyo! They seem to work fine, but I have never had any experience with the machines that are specifically made for it. We don’t have any more room for kitchen gadgets so the food processor works JUST fine :)

Reply

I live in Vernal Utah for the summer and the weather is awesome right now! Perfect for morning runs :) Brooke is getting so big! It makes me excited for my baby girl to grow and become her own little person.

Reply

I was wondering how u did the transfer.
I love kind bars. I have 1 in my purse at all times. I love that low sugar flavor best because I usually eat my kind bar in the morning and the other ones seems too sweet to me in the morning. Ive tried them all and I love most of them. They sell them at my trader joes too. So maybe they have it at the slc store.
Yes it is hot where I live. 85 yesterday made it w perfect day for the kids to swim.

Reply

I love Kind bars, esp. the Almond/Apricot. It’s got a great apricot flavor -Yum!!
Hot yoga is my absolute favorite!! I’m pretty sure it’s the biggest reason I didn’t get injured when I started running, and my immune system has been great since I’ve been doing it consistently. Just for the record, I’m born/raised in Seattle area and don’t love heat, but I love hot yoga. :)
Again, live in Seattle area, not hot here…looking forward to a potential 80 degrees this weekend.
One word…slow. Have a great day!

Reply

Kind bars are so good! The sea salt, dark chocolate with almonds is the bomb.

Brooke is such a cutie!

Reply

That Dark Chocolate sea salt kind bar is my absolute favorite and then Almond/Apricot….and frankly those are the only 2 i eat!

It’s going to 87 degrees today in NYC but tomorrow the high will only be 62. CRAY CRAY!

Mood: Happy! I’m actually kind of happy today even though I’m back at work with a cold and still dealing with tendonitis and day 17 of no running. It might have something to do with having a successful date #2 with a guy. His dog and my dog met so it must mean things will start getting serious now. lol!

Reply

I LOVE quest bars! Fave flavors are chocolate chip cookie dough, chocolate peanut butter, cinnamon roll, and double chocolate chunk. I only eat 1/2 at a time (they have LOTS of fiber…anywhere from 17-20g each) and I heat them up for 10 sec. :) So good! I also love balance bars the dark chocolate coconut ones, Luna protein (the chocolate chip cookie dough) and Zone Perfectly Simple: oatmeal chocolate chips :)

My mood right now is: “blah”. Getting over a sickness and end of the year stress (kindergarten teacher) along with going to teach summer school and move this summer along with lots of personal stressors as well :0/

Reply

Kind bars are my favorite!! That flavor you had is amazing. One of my other favorites is apple cinnamon. holy yum. Also the madagascar vanilla almond! I haven’t tried hot yoga but I’d really like to. I must make that zucchini bread recipe!

Reply

I love kind bars I usually grab something with dark chocolate and peanut butter. You would also like the Kind brand granola I add it to my yogurt and my daughter loves to munch on it. I get it at target.
I’m happy my sciatica pain has gone and have a 5k this weekend I can kinda prepare for. Or at least run pain free.
Yay for almost summer!!

Pps. Watch Megan’s beautiful video of her teaching. It’s so inspiring.

okay so that dessert bullet thing works…i even bought one but guess what- you can do it in a food processor too. i literally just stick frozen bananas in. maybe a touch of milk. and push go. thats it. i dont think its worth the $. just use the food processor. less clean up too.

glad that brooke is back!

i like them but i havent had them enough to have a “favorite” (kind bars). i like luna bars a ton!

i do hot yoga a lot. i feel like its a really good complement to running. i try to go one a week

my mood right now? blah. haha

Reply

Holy sweatfest I need to find a Barefoot Bootcamp! I personally looove power yoga…its 95 degrees so not AS hot as traditional hot yoga (which Im more than fine with) and they flow through the movements faster. I love the way I feel after!

Reply

Kind bars are the BEST!!! I was driving to work this morning and realized-SNAP….don’t have my Kind bar snack w/me!! :( I love the ones w/dark chocolate the most. Delish!!!

As for weather: lovely, lovely sunny day on the east coast. Too bad I’m indoors working. Hope to get out after work for a bit. Happy Tuesday!!

Reply

I love kind bars, particularly the one you had and there’s also an almond/coconut/apricot one? I’ve only had that once but yum! I also love luna bars ( chocolate peppermint stick, nuts over chocolate, macadamia nut, etc etc), clif bars, and zone bars! I hear quest bars are very good too, people rave about the cookies and cream flavor. I love hot yoga! I’ve done it twice and man was that nice in the winter :)

Reply

I lvoe hot yoga…I love sweating from places I didn’t even know possible…like my shins and my knuckles.

One word to describe my mood? Stuffed (if that is a mood)…the salad bar did me in at lunch!!!

It is not warm where I live…we had a frost warning last night…can you believe that? Frost on the 26th of May!

Reply

I LOVE KIND bars (but not the price)!! I don’t think I have a favorite flavor. I swear, every time I eat one I say OMG this one is the best flavor.

It’s very warm over here in CA. It was mid-90’s all weekend but it’s supposed to cool off this week. I sure hope it does. I can’t run in that type of heat!

Reply

A friend bought me something similar to a Dessert Bullet. Yonanas which I do like (though cleaning it is a pain). If I had a choice between a proper blender and Yonanas, I would probably stick to the blender.

Reply

I’ve always been curious by the Yonanas machine, but I can’t justify another appliance in my kitchen haha!

Reply

I’m so glad to hear that about “out of sight out of mind”. I’m not glad that it hurts, but I’m glad I’m not the only one. When I found out the awful things my ex did to me then I just faded into the background. It’s a long story but I’m finding that place to heal and before long even the name won’t bother me. It is harder with your kids dad, but the good news is it gets so much better. I can actually be friends with my kids’s dad now that my kids are all over 18.
Hugs to ya, hang in there.

Mood: Excited!

Reply

I wouldn’t get the Desert Bullet if I were you. I have a Yonanas thatr I got about two years ago, and I’ve realized that the final product from the machine is the same as that which would come out of a blender. You can basically make the same thing in the Nutri Bullet in a blender. Just my opinion though! xo

My boyfriend and I went to Seneca Rocks, WV and spent the holiday weekend hiking and camping – it was gorgeous! Great weather too, highs in the 70s. Returned home to temps in the 90s so my morning run today (70 degrees at 5:30am) was a bit warm but it still felt great.

Reply

That recipe sounds delicious!! Can you make it into waffles/pancakes too?

I recently got into KIND bars too..I haven’t had too many of the flavors yet. I had the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate…almost as good as a candy bar but a lot healthier! I hear the coconut flavored ones and pumpkin sea salt are also delicious!

I have done hot yoga for a while. I recently got injured during a class because an instructor assisted me a little too much and pressed me further than I could go… I ended up straining my groin muscle and have been out of running for a month. Totally sucks. I will probably do hot yoga again, but I am going to be sure to stay where I feel comfortable. The heat can definitely lead to overstretching issues so you need to be careful.

It is not HOT yet here…warm…YES.

One word to describe me….HAPPY. Teaching my puppy how to give the paw right now as I eat lunch haha

I’ve never tried Kind bars or hot yoga! Out of those two…I REALLY want to do hot yoga, but have no idea where!! My daughter and I are more-so Clif bar addicts, especially White Chocolate Macadamia nut! At my job I’m super busy, so these are quick and on the go, and give me tons of energy–I even converted my husband!

It’s MUGGY today, sprinkling and 66degrees, the rest of the week will be muggy and 80degrees, that’s WI summer–perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes!

My mood right now…. I guess indifferent with some optimism. In other words, I’m tired and just want to veg on the couch because I’m stressed with everything going on this year, but I’m looking up training plans and marathons that are getting me excited for future races!

Anything Dark Chocolate wins in my books.
I did a 30 day Groupon to Bikram. It was a nice way to prepare for the AZ heat last year but 90 minutes of yoga takes up a lot time especially if you are trying to get a run in as well. I def think it is worth the try and go more than once. I think a two week trial session is perfect.

My mood “sluggish”

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that I really admire how you are handling your divorce. You seem to have worked out a very nice custody arrangement that allows you to be the primary caregiver but also allows Brooke to spend time with her Dad. I’m the product of a divorce myself (my parents split when I was 10 months old) and while my Dad wasn’t a good husband to my mom (at all), the two of them were civil for my sake and that made things really nice for me. I can’t tell you how much I admire my mother for raising me on her own. She’s my best friend and I’m sure Brooke will grow up and think of you the same way :) You seem to be making the best of a tough situation and I think that’s really admirable!

Almonds & coconut KIND bar is hands down my fav!

I love kind bars very deeply. I wish they werent so expensive.
I love how optimistic/calm/cool you are being about your injury. It helps put things into perspective for me. I took 2 days off after my 10 miler Saturday (cross trained) but during my run today my leg started acting up (I still think it’s shin splinta just in the one leg) so I decided to be SMART and ended my run at 3mi. I found a FREE program on demand called yoga for runners and did that instead. Sometimes NOT RUNNING is actually good for our running…right?
It is extremely hot here all of the sudden. I love summer but I have to remember to adjust my pace accordingly so I dont get heatstroke or something crazy.
Im still really pulling for you to get that sub 3. I believe in you!!!

Sorry! Not me, Kind bars are so dry tasting to me!

I have not tried hot yoga, but would be open to trying it

yes pretty hot in temps – but eh – it’s almost June, what can you do?

One word to describe your mood right now? BLAHHHHH (is that a word?)

So…now you’re talkin’ my language. I live LIVE for Kind bars.
I should own stock.
I buy them so so much.
I’m Celiac and I have to have something fast and easy.
I’m also allergic to chocolate (a totally separate really mean thing).
So…I love the Fruit and Nut Kind bars. They are yum.
I love just the nut ones. Also good. Just the perfect amount of sweet.
And now I have discovered…
are you ready?
you might be freaked out a little…
Strong & Kind Roasted Jalapeno Almond Protein Bar with 10 G (yes, you read that right) 10G of protein.
ALSO:
I know…you’re thinking…strange…I don’t think so. But bear with me.
The same Strong & Kind Honey Mustard Almond Protein Bar with 10G of protein.

My life has changed. They are amazing. I work in a bank and gave one to the cop of the day and he looked way skeptical. Then he tried it and was like…oh.my.gosh. Where did you GET THIS?

They are good. Just sayin’.

Pretty happy Brooke is back.
Mom’s are awesome.

Never tried Kind bars, I will have to give them a try…looks yummy!

Love, love, love hot yoga. Bikram is my favorite type of yoga.

Mood is ” agitated” Wildfire smoke from the Kenai in Alaska has moved into the Eagle River valley where I live making the air quality unsafe for running ( I have allergies and asthma problems). I hate treadmill running but might have to give in to that today.

I was kind of a Bikram yoga addict for a few years. I’m thinking of trying it again because I really liked it, but the addiction-slide is daunting. Yay for having your girl back :)

We have a Cchampiom juicer that we’ve used to make banana ice cream for years. It’s wonderful! We mix in different things but my favorite is banana with a tsp of raw cocoa powder and some frozen cherries. Yum! My three kids also gobble it up!

I LOVE Kind bars! I have celiac disease, and kind bars are gluten free and taste great!
I have done Bikram yoga, thoughtje instructor kept yelling at me to lock my knees out- as a physical therapist I understand the damsge that can be done by locking out my joints, and refused to do it so it wasn’t a good experience for me.
The dessert blender looks fantastic!

I had a hard time with how the instructor taught the class, too. Pushing students beyond their comfort level. I have very over stretched hamstrings and my PT told me NOT to stretch them, and yet when I shared that with the instructor before class (telling her I would be bending my knees) instead of supporting me in my modifications, she basically told me I wouldn’t get full benefit.

Reply

Oh Susan I’m sorry! I don’t know why they aren’t educated to preserve joints, and why they sometimes act snotty If you opt out of their instructions. You did the right thing by listening to your PT!

OH MY GOSH Kind bars are my FAVORITE. I haven’t tried a flavor that I don’t like…and I think I’ve tried them all? But my top picks would definitely be the Maple Pecan and Sea Salt, the Apricot Coconut, the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate + Protein, and ALL of the new sweet + savory protein “Kind Strong” bars!! Seriously try them all, they are so good & SUCH a great company!!! …ok, I’m done with my über enthusiastic endorsement :)

It is finally hot here!!! It was 80 yesterday and we went to the beach. It was so nice to feel uncomfortably HOT instead of uncomfortably cold! haha

I completely understand you being hesitant to do the pick up/drop off to California. I had a really nasty break up (my fiancee cheated on me with my best friend. Yeah, it sounds like some trashy talk show scenario). I withdrew from everything from that time in my life because it was too painful. To this day I still haven’t driven past the house I lived in (with said best friend!) at the time. My second engagement ended when he told me he had been “seeing” another woman for a while and she was four months pregnant. Which he told me three months after proposing on the same day I was starting a new job. Yeah…. I have been there done that with sudden/awful/traumatic break ups!

My mood right now? Nervous. I am making a SERIOUS life decision tomorrow morning and I am a mix of excited and terrified. Hopefully it all turns out okay!

The Cherry chocolate cashew Kind bar is to DIE for.

It FINALLY got warm up here in Illinois, so I’m not complaining. I do have my AC on, though. :)

I like Kind Bars but my favorite are Lara Bars!
I have recently gotten into doing hot yoga…I find I can really stretch out my muscles in the hot classes. I am actually heading to one in a little bit!
It is starting to get hot here in Maryland…today it was in the 80s and there are on and off thunderstorms…so also humid.
My mood right now is tired! It is tough getting back into the swing of things after a bunch of days off!

I love Kind bars! Dark chocolate and sea salt, coconut and almond, and pb dark chocolate and protein are my favs, so good!

I work for KIND, so of course I love KIND Bars. We just came out with KIND Healthy Grain Bars (granola bars) that Brooke may enjoy! It’s hard for me to choose a favorite flavor, but lately I’ve been eating more blueberry vanilla cashew. The new carmel almond sea salt is to die for too!

Reply

KIND bars are THE best. And I’m not just saying that because I’m a campus rep for them :) My favorite flavor is the Almond & Coconut. I have at least 1 a day.

Reply

I love Kind bars too! My favorite is Cranberry Almond and the Dark Cherry Chocolate. I would love to know how to make them myself. I haven’t tried the other dessert makers like Yonana’s or the above product, but I was looking for something similar at one time. I decided to save up and get a Vitamix. They sell them refurbished for a lot less than the new ones. I use it several times a week and have not regretted spending a little more. Think desserts like above, but also it makes the most wonderfully smooth smoothies. (It’s the smoothest smoothie I ever smoothed. Ha!) :)

V loves the Kind bars, there is hot yoga here, but V is too young to go, part of me can’t wait until he can stay home by himself and the other part of me wants him to stop getting so big

If you took the class in St. George, you were probably at my cousin’s Yoga studio: Be Hot Yoga. Because I live in Arkansas now, I have not been able to visit the studio so I have not tried hot yoga, but I really want to.

I’m pretty sure I would pass out and die in a hot yoga class. Saunas make me feel like I’m suffocating, so I assume it would be similar, but with more physical exertion.

I’m so glad Brooke is home :)

maple pecan sea salt kind bar!!!! I have been known to buy them a box at a time

current mood: excited! my next 1/2 marathon is saturday!

LOVE LOVE LOVE hot yoga!

I bought a ‘Yonanas’ machine a few years ago to make frozen banana ice cream… but now I just use my Vitamix and it works really really well and is easier to clean! I def prefer just using a good blender rather than having another gadget in the cabinet.
