Brooke will be jealous that I saw Curious George in real life.

This was our little bungalow for the last few days.  Too bad we didn’t have one of these to live in together back in the days when we were college roommates.

And this was our pool that we spent probably too many hours in.

IMG 0593

My workout for Thursday was climbing this mountain—>  Cardio and strength training all in one lovely package.

IMG 0598

And to give you a better idea of how steep it was.  It went on and on like this for probably about 20 minutes of hiking straight up.

IMG 9829

We felt super hard core at the end. I am glad my face turned out dark in this picture because it was drenched in sweat.

IMG 0607

Afterwards we were just walking along to the beach when all of the sudden this monkey just jumped down from the trees without any warning.  I had a bunch of bananas that I bought just in case I saw some monkeys and he won the lottery.  It was so funny to me to see them peel the bananas for some reason.

Brooke will be jealous that I saw Curious George in real life.

And a few pictures from our romantic stroll along the beach at sunset.

Jamba Juice better be ready for me to come in regularly when I get back home because I am beyond addicted to having one of these with all of my meals.

IMG 9809

I may only be sticking to American food (I know…) from here on out while I am in Thailand because after the food poisoning incident I have not been able to stomach the idea of any of the foods that I ate the 48 hours prior to getting sick.

The tomatoes on this margarita pizza were so flavorful.  I almost asked for a bowl of just these tomatoes.

You know how we do:

IMG 0624

I made it out for a run on Friday morning and it felt so good.  Every time I get sick or injured it makes me REALLLLLLYYYYY appreciate being able to run once I can do it again.  Enjoy your run today!!!!

Beautiful photos! That mountain looks ridiculously steep, I would also feel hard core at the top of it:) Haha I love that you gave one monkey all the bananas, they’re such cute animals. And I’d rather live by the beach:)

Wow, it looks fantastic! What a fun time. I am so glad you feel better.
Do you really think you are going to move to Thailand? That would be such a neat adventure!

I think I would live in the mountains in the winter and the beach in the summer! Best of both worlds.

I am looking forward to some rest and the track meet for the team I am coaching!

I am DYING over the past week of posts! Seriously, it makes me so happy to read about your travels and live vicariously through your pictures. My wanderlust is in overdrive!

I’m sorry you can’t enjoy the Thai food right now, but so glad your feeling better!

I agree, few things make you appreciate your healthy able body more than being sick!

Reply

I know – feeling better again after being sick makes one appreciate being healthy sooooo much!

Yikes – that is one steep climb…!!

Reply

My dinner last night was garlic mussels…so good! I think the first run after a long time without running is always the best. I spend the whole time just thnking how lucky I am.

Reply

I would rather live by the beach. I grew up 20 minutes from the beach and I miss being able to drive there on the weekends! Last night I had a burger…we went to this burger place and one of their specialties is the peanut butter burger…a burger with bacon and peanut butter. I didn’t order it but my husband did and I tried it. It was actually pretty good!

Reply

I bet you are having such a nice break! Glad you are feeling better to enjoy the last few days for trip :) Even the American food looks DELICIOUS though! Love the pictures of the beach – looks heavenly!

Reply

I love that you had bananas just in case you bumped into a monkey! He was a lucky guy for getting a whole bunch!

I am really looking forward to running in what the website describes as a 10-mile difficult trail race on Sunday. It had better not have hills like the ones you climbed up! :-)

Reply

I was sick in Peru, either from altitude sickness or food poisoning or a stomach bug or something, but I was the same way…I couldn’t eat most of the traditional foods for the rest of my trip. It was sad! While Peruvian food is delicious, it’s potato and mayo heavy. Thai food looks to be much more my style!

I find it fascinating that monkeys can peel bananas. I really do…And I want that banana split sundae now that I am looking at it…I much prefer beach over the mountains. I am really not one for hiking or anything about nature except for a day at the beach and a run through a park.

Reply

That beach looks amazing! I live a mile from the beach and I can’t imagine ever moving away from it, but I do get jealous of mountains every time I see them!

My right achilles has been tight the last couple days so I am looking forward to it feeling better this weekend (positive thinking!) and getting in my long run :)

Reply

That pool with that view! It looks amazing! I’m very happy that you are still making sure to eat your ice cream…it’s an important source of calcium after all. :)

I’m so glad you got a run in! This morning, right? Since it’s Friday night where you are now I think? :)

Reply

I’m not sure if I could decide between the beach and the mountains- although what you guys climbed looked intense!
I straight up had mac and cheese for dinner last night while binging on trash TV. oh well!
I am looking forward to watching my UConn Huskies this weekend! Final Four! :)

Reply

I love all of these pictures!!! It looks so beautiful!
The beach, for sure the beach. Although looking at the mountains is beautiful too :). We had spaghetti for dinner for my 10 year old’s birthday! I can’t believe my baby is 10!!! Spaghetti is her favorite :)

First time commenter — I went to Thailand last year, and you are at my favorite place – Railay Beach!! Drink some coconut water and eat at Mangrove Restaurant. Go to the Last Bar and see the fire show. Have a wonderful trip!

Those bungalows looks awesome and the pool looked amazing. That is one wicked hike, I would be all over it. Wait to bait in the monkeys, that is pretty cool. Good job sticking to the american food, dont want to be sick on the way home.

Looking Forward To – Golf tournament Saturday, going to be a great time.
Rather Live – Rather live in the mountains, beach is awesome but I LOVE the woods.
Dinner – Pasta and parm chicken, it was pretty delicious.

that mountain looks SO FUN to climb, i’m jealous! I haven’t been moutain climbing in so long, i am dying to go! I think I would really like to live by a beach….that is at the base of a mountain! (how does one choose between two AWESOME things??)

Enjoy your day! :)

Beaches are gorgeous, but I have to say that I’m definitely a mountains kind of girl at heart. There’s just something about them that makes me feel at peace. And this weekend is my mom’s birthday, so I’d have to say that I’m mostly looking forward to spending some time with her. Oh, and cake… always cake :D

Reply

Glad you’re feeling better. That monkey does look pretty funny. I’m looking forward to watching my sons’ first ever soccer game! Last night’s dinner was salt and pepper squid, dory fillets, fries and mashed peas it was (pretty yummy!). Definitely the beach (nothing against mountains though:-)

Reply

Omg I love that Monkey! I would probably buy too many bananas because I would want to feed them all! I think that is the one thing that scares me the most about traveling over seas: food poisoning, and the fact that I’m extremely picky. That sundae sure looks good though!! I’m happy you were feeling good though on Friday :). This weekend I’m looking forward to my trip to Trader Joe’s, a trip to Target, and just hanging out with the boyfriend while I study :)

Reply

IF I were to ever win the lotto, I would totally buy a house on the beach. I remember when I was in Hawaii, we stayed in this fabulous condo and you could sleep with the doors open (screen door closed) and just hear the waves crashing against the beach. There was something so relaxing (even for me, a TYPE A insomniac) that just made me sleep like a baby…

I’m pretty sure I ate the sweet and spicy Doritos for dinner last night (no judgement). There are days I just don’t have time to eat and last night was one of them…. they WERE delicious just not nutritious:(

Reply

That monkey is too cool. Did it startle you? I think it would have freaked me out just a little.
I am most looking forward to my long run and book club (even though I haven’t read the book!)
I am a beach girl all the way.
Dinner last night was a huge chicken and veggie burrito.

Reply

Most looking forward to my last long training run (20 miles) this weekend! And then the taper begins.

Peanut butter n jelly for dinner last two nights in a row!

Since I have lived my whole life by the ocean I have to say I prefer it. But I love to travel to mountainous areas to hike and ski. :)

I love watching monkeys. They are the closest to humans really.

Reply

I am so jealous of your Thai adventures!!

Reply

I tried something new for dinner last night that my cousin told me about. I made hamburgers with fresh basil mixed into the patties, then after grilling, topped them with cream cheese and avocado. They were delicious!!! I’m tempted to make them again tonight! :)

Reply

This is the best adventure of my life…until I do it myself.

I’m looking forward to Spring Cleaning, believe it or not.

Beach or mountains…what a toss-up! I suppose I’d rather live in the mountains; I can always vacay to the beach. ;)

PIZZA. Thursday nights are reserved for pan or deep dish so our Saturday morning long runs don’t get wrecked.

Reply

Loving all your pics from your trip! I can imagine all the great tasting free fruit and sweet juices. The scenery looks amazing and the beaches look stunning! What a magical place to visit and great to have a personal guide! Have fun eating lots more fun stuff before you leave.

Reply

My mom is coming to visit this weekend!! I’m so excited. I want to live where the mountains run into the beach. :) But if I really had to pick it would be the ocean, because I grew up living 10 minutes from the ocean. I had Mexican for dinner and it was delicious. Monkeys are so funny. Did he peel it from the top or bottom? Someone told me once that monkeys peel bananas from the bottom.

Reply

What a lucky monkey! It’s a hard choice between the beach and the mountains! But I think I’d try to get the best of both worlds and live near a lake in the mountains!! Haha

Reply

Can I have beach and mountains mixed into one, because that’s exactly what I want!!

Reply

Your pictures make me so jealous! ;) Did you take any pic’s inside of the bungaloo? I’ve always wanted to stay in one!

I’d definitely live by the ocean!!!

Dinner last night was a big, hearty salad.

Reply

This weekend I’m most looking forward to having a campfire tomorrow with the family.

I would have to say I’d rather live by the mountains. I don’t know, I think they’re just gorgeous.

My dinner last night was cantaloupe, fish, and some leftovers from the night before. Oh and a mango for dessert. ;)

Reply

Careful :)! Usually it is safer to eat local food, rather than “American” food. So sorry that you got sick! :( Looks like you’re having a fun time!

Reply

I’m continually amazed by mountains, so I would give anything to live even sort of close to having mountains in my backdrop, they are incredible.

I had veggie enchiladas for dinner and they were spectacular. It helped that I had some leftover chipotle guacamole. Holy cow, so good!

I’m looking forward to getting a good weather run in tomorrow morning and just relaxing, my wedding is in three weeks so I’m just soaking up all the relaxation that I can!

Reply

Loving all the photos from Thailand! I am really looking forward to hanging out with my sister and seeing her new apartment. I had some tuna and veggies last night for dinner, it was super yummy! :)

Reply

Gorgeous beach photos!!

That is one lucky monkey ;)

This looks like such a wonderful trip! Minus the sick part, of course.

I’m looking forward to being at home this weekend…I get discharged today :)
My dinner last night was a weird Asian stir-fry. Weird because pretty much all hospital food is weird!

Reply

Aww that’s too bad that you’re still turned off of the Thai food. When I was in Thailand I got the worst food poisoning of life when I ordered coconut water at a restaurant and they served it directly from the coconut. It was awesome and didn’t taste weird to me or anything (but I’m not used to drinking directly from a coconut so I wouldn’t know if it was “off” or not). Anyways, yeah. Luckily for me it was on the 2nd last day of our trip so it didn’t ruin much.

Enjoy the last few days!! xo

I love monkeys, so I am oddly jealous of you hanging out with Curious George. My girls love Curious George too, although I don’t.

This weekend is going to be awesome! I am a volunteer at the Cherry Blossom race. I have never volunteered at a race before, but I think it will be a lot of fun!

Reply

The pizza looks delicious! I can’t get over how amazing the fruit looks too. Beach and mountains and we had Chipotle. :)

Reply

These photos are ridiculous… I am adding Thailand to my bucket list of places to visit! I would rather live by the beach, hands down. My favorite place to go and it never gets old.

Reply

ahhh thailand looks so amazing! i’m even a little jealous that you saw curious george in real life :) i’m so glad that you’re feeling better and were able to run again. i’ve never had food poisoning, but i can only imagine that you’d develop major food aversions afterward.

i would definitely rather live by the beach! i had chicken, quinoa, and zucchini for dinner last night. i’m looking forward to celebrating my 28th birthday tomorrow! :)

Reply

Monkeys! I love them. I’m so jealous. Adding it to my bucket list too!! Happy Friday!

Everything looks so incredibly gorgeous! I have a 5k this weekend that I’m running with my sister, so excited!!!

Reply

Definitely the beach!

It looks so beautiful there!

Beautiful pictures!! And, I love the monkey.

I live in Arizona and am surrounded by mountains so I think I would really like to live by the beach t some point. Dinner last night was a mixed green and spinach salad topped with broccoli, celery, bell peppers and baked salmon. So yummy! I need one of those juices pronto.

Reply

Omg that pizza looks delish. Last night I made salmon topped with a strawberry mango salsa! Also delish! Climbing that mountain sounds so fun. I think I’d rather live in the mountains! I know what you mean about being grateful for a run after having to take a hiatus. We are so blessed for the ability!

Smart call to stick with the foods your body is familiar with — so glad you’re feeling better!

Looks like so much fun! I get to go to Nashville next week…that’s what I am looking forward to-hopefully some mini golf and the new Captain America will be in the works for the trip!
I love the hills of Tennessee…not really mountains compared to Utah.
And I had breakfast for dinner…sausage, eggs, biscuits, peach preserves (from the one and only Loveless Cafe!), and a tall glass of milk. Yum! Have a great weekend!

Reply

Looking forward to relaxing and (attempting to) being productive!
I live within 10 miles of Lake Michigan now, and it’s beautiful, but I spent my honeymoon in Alaska, so I am partial to the mountains!
Dinner last night was Chipotle! :)

You look like you’re having so much fun! Thailand has definitely been added to my list of places to go! That beach location is beautiful.

So jealous of your monkey encounter! And I just realized how weird that sentence is… :)

I am really looking forward to General Conference :) I love it and need it! Im glad you are feeling better and your pizza looks amazing! Yummy!!!

I am SO glad you are feeling better :) My environmentalist side has to come out on this post though, because feeding wild animals is one of my biggest pet peeves. It alters their natural behavior and when they start wandering into cities or towns, the animals are the ones who get killed because people have a “superior than thou” complex about all other species on the planet. That’s it for my soapbox :)

The monkeys in Costa Rica will come out of the trees and go through your belongings on the beach if you leave them unattended. It’s funny to watch, but not funny when you are the unwitting victim!

Reply

I can’t believe you saw a monkey! I’m with Brooke – super jealous!

Reply

So fun that you got to do a little hillside climbing… best form of exercise on vacation. I can imagine your hesitation eating anything a little foreign. Glad you are feeling better.

I grew up with the mountains right outside my doorstep and love all the activities they have to offer – skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, hiking, camping, mountain biking, heading to the lakes to kayak and paddle board, and trail running in the summer. The beach is my splurge and I like getting my “fix” every once in a while. It makes it more special that way.

Reply

The monkey is adorable!

Reply

Glad you’re feeling better! I’m so jealous of Thailand and the monkey, good call on the bananas :)

Reply

How are you so on top of posting when you’re on Thailand?! You’re amazing!

Reply

What a great idea – bringing bananas in case you saw a lil monkey friend! How cute. Wish there was a video of them peeling the banana, I bet it was a hoot!!!

Reply

wow that hike is amazing..I would be nervous to do it..not sure why

I love the mountains and beach for different reasons…my dream has always been to live in a log cabin on a mountain near a lake

Reply

What an amazing trip. Looks breathtaking.

I’m looking forward to sleeping in this weekend! I always say that, and then I always wake up early anyway!

I would rather live by the beach. I love the ocean!

Dinner last night was a bowl of rice, black beans, corn, kale and avocado. Tasty!

Not to be a jerk, but do you know how to use the flash on your camera? A couple of those pictures (the one you comment of showing up so dark and the one with you and two friends on the beach at sunset) would help the people in the photos show up better with a flash. If you don’t have the camera manual with you, you could probably find an online version to help you figure out how to force the flash when it doesn’t automatically do so.

Reply

I do:) those pics were from my friend’s phones.. They sent them to me.

Reply

I am incredibly lucky to live between the beach and the mountains. About a half hour drive will take me to either. If I were to live right on the spot though I’d pick the beach.

Reply

That would have been so cool to see the monkey peel the banana! I’d be amazed too. :) I think I’d rather live by the beach, but that’s a tricky question. Glad you’re feeling better from your food poisoning incident.

Reply

I feel like my first reaction to a monkey jumping out at me wouldn’t be to give it food. I’d think I’d suddenly stumbled into the Hunger Games and was about to be attacked.

I’ve lived by the mountains and the ocean (and the great lakes) and the ocean definitely wins.
