Silent Saturday (that is a lie.. I always have something to say).

No workout for me Friday morning.  Kind of crazy coming from the girl that a few years ago would have probably cried a river if she missed her workout.

It was another beautiful day in Utah.  (My dad was driving.  I used to be a drivers ed teacher, I am strict about the rules of the road:)

Heels instead of running shoes?  I don’t even know who I am anymore.  I even washed my hair.

IMG 8558

Not the prettiest salad ever but it was perfect.  Corn, tomatoes, bleu cheese, chicken, cucumber and a roasted tomato dressing.  Heavenly.

IMG 8564

And the best brownie sundae I have ever had in my life.  Each brownie bite was dense and of course there were no nuts.

My sister-in-law sent this shirt to me saying that I really need it. I think I do.

I already miss this little nugget so much.  I have officially gone through all of the videos of her on my phone 30 times.  Someone tell me that this part of the whole thing gets easier eventually.

And some of my very favorite words from Kirstin Armstrong.

Yowzers! This looks so dang good, and would probably be a ftinastac dessert. I don’t know if I could serve my kids these for breakfast, they would start expecting too much out of me from then on! HAHA

I hope this weekend goes by quickly for you Janae! Brooke will be back in your arms in no time and the look on her face when she sees you will feel AMAZING. I know it hard not running when you need that little peaceful stress release outlet. I’m not running either right now…sad face. Hang in there girlie :)

Reply

You can do it Janae! Praying for you!!! Please call/text if you need anything!

I hope the weekend goes fast for you and that you enjoy. It will totally get easier when Brooke gets to be a bit older. When they are little, for some reason, it is just harder. I remember. Love that quote – and of course, love the brownie sundae!

You’ll make it through this weekend. You are awesome and I hope the weekend goes by fast for you.

I haven’t been to 7-11 in ages (once I determined I did not like their coffee…it’s basically banned in my life forever) but that slushie might be enough once summer hits to get me to go back.

Aw, I know it must be so hard to be without Brooke this weekend. We are all thinking about you!

Have a great day! The brownie looks so good, you are like the queen of delicious food. I’m coming to visit and you can show me all the good spots ;)

I love that – “we come and we work it out.” It is so process-oriented and so true. Wishing YOU and amazing day.

I love that tank top!

I hope the weekend goes quickly for you!

Aw, it does get easier letting them go, I promise!!

And omg, I love that shirt! That is totally me. My mom always says to me (cause she knows how much I love to eat) “you have to keep running so you can keep eating what you love”. Yep mom, you nailed it!!

Hang in there and go have a fun weekend!

I promise you it gets easier….somehow the silence goes away, and the time starts to fly and she is back in your arms….. I promise you!

I’m so sorry Janae! It will get easier. I know it’s hard but I know you have lots of awesome family and friends to keep you busy this weekend. That brownie sundae looks DELICIOUS! Where can I get one!?

Reply

Hoping to now find myself a brownie sundae at some point today.

Dad’s = the perfect partner for situations like that. Hanging with your fam will get you through.

Thinking of you!

Hang in there! I can only imagine how tough it is to get through weekends like this, but you seem to be doing a great job so far. I love the saying on that shirt, by the way!

Salad + brownie sundae = best meal ever.

I really, really, really, really, really, really, really want that tank. :)

I will definitely keep you in my happy thoughts this weekend. She will be so stinkin’ happy to see you tomorrow. <3

YUM! That looks delicious! Have a great weekend!!!

Newest parenthood episode made me think of you. The mom’s kids leave with their first weekend and it is miserable for her. The only thing that gets her through is her family that loves her. I think it’s awesome how you have such a great family That is always by your side. Hope the weekend goes by quick !!!!
love the shirt

Reply

Thank you Lori! I am going to have to watch that episode tonight!!!

Love that ending quote. Perfectly sums up how much running means to me. There’s a reason we continue to run. I’m mentally and physically tougher because of it. Have a great weekend!!

Reply

It gets a bit easier each time, but is never easy. Does that make any sense? My youngest is getting ready to leave for a week to see their dad during Spring Break. I am totally missing her already. (My oldest usually only goes for a couple of days. She doesn’t like to be gone that long and is old enough to choose.)
I hope this weekend flies by for you! Keep your mind occupied and your body busy.

Love the Kristin Armstrong quote! I don’t think I’ve cried while running (unless I’m watching something sad on TV while I’m on the treadmill), but I definitely cry sometimes when I’m doing yoga. It’s good to let things out. I hope your time without Brooke goes as quickly and painlessly as possible!

You can make it through this weekend – you have an amazing support system and are so strong!

I love that quote, thank you for sharing.

Hey call or text me if you want to do anything today. Love ya girl!

I love that shirt “I run to eat.” So true, so true! Have a great weekend.

Have a great weekend, Janae! Enjoy your solo time — it will be over before you know it!

I am in the middle of reading “Mile Markers” right now and am loving it! I saw you mention it on your blog and have been waiting to read it since. The library finally had it stock this week! Thanks for the recommendation!

Hey Janae! Just wanted to let you know that its a good thing, you aren’t running the Phx Half Marathon today…its pooring rain here! I”m not sure how many people are actually running it.

The salad and brownie look amazing and now I want chocolate at 8am, lol!

Have a great Saturday!

Reply

haha I love that shirt. Sometimes I wonder if I run to eat, or eat to run? One of the hardest things about being injured is cutting back how much I eat –frustrating! Wonderful quote as well. Happy Saturday!

Reply

We’re all here to support you :) she’ll be back before you know it. Have a great day!!

Reply

It will get easier!! You will eventually enjoy your alone time :) I’m drooling over that sundae… last night my mom made a whole pan of brownies and we enjoyed them warm topped with ice cream!!

Reply

I don’t know if leaving your sweet girl will ever get easier. That’s not a road I’ve had to travel. I do know that tears and running are therapeutic. I’ve had to run out a lot of my own struggles lately and tears flowed aplenty.

Thinking of you!

Reply

I hope you have an awesome day, too! And hope that your weekend flies by and you have Brooke in your arms again before you know it!

Janae,
I find you amazing. You are inspiring.

The first few times my kids were with my ex I was an inconsolable mess. Then I started making plans to fill my every alone moment. I used sleeping pills to get me thru the nights. Its been 2 years and I have grown. I learned to embrace my alone time. I usually choose to stay home, read, take a bath, endulge my whims go on loooong runs :). Hang in there, Janae. It does get easier.

Reply

That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing this with me Jill!

Reply

Haha the running vest is brilliant! As is the brownie pic!

Reply

It will get better. I promise. I don’t see why you can’t have a daily dose of DC to feel better about being away from Brookers. You can only take so much suffering at once. Lol. Hang in there Janae, take it from a mom who has been there done that.

Reply

Thanks Patty! Starting yesterday I had about 20 diet cokes ha!

Reply

You can do hard things.

Reply

I really like you!

Reply

Brownies and ice cream = always a smart decision.

Totally random, but did you know you can buy starbursts by the color and pound? And the pinks are like twice as much as any other color! How sad is that? And yet, it kind of makes sense.

Reply

Take one day at a time and fill your time with friends and family that show you love. It looks like you have a wonderful support system around you, use it to your advantage.
On a separate note, I must have that tank!

Reply

Thinking about you today! I know you miss your sweet girl but she’ll be back soon!

Reply

Sending happy thoughts your way this weekend. I hope it flies by for you!

Reply

I was just getting ready to ask how that no diet coke thing was going…
nevermind. ;)
TOTALLY okay.

This weekend is going to fly by and she’ll be here before you know it. It’s probably going to be super painful the whole time. I’m sorry. I hope someday soon it’s only a little painful.

Reply

Oh my gosh, a brownie sundae sounds so perfect right now!!

Reply

Prayers that the weekend goes by quickly for you. That shirt is the best!

Reply

I have no idea if it gets easier, V had surgery on Thursday, his first ever and his dad was there and I was so irritated, not sure if I am putting my stress on him or if he actually irritated me, but in the end, it is all about my son and the fact that he has two parent in two different houses doesn’t mean he has ever spent anytime in his house nor has he even taken him for ice cream. So I am clueless if it gets easier, since I don’t have to share.

What I do know is that you have a beautiful and wonderful daughter, and that you have great strength and you can do this. Sending hugs and prayers.

Reply

The reason it’s tough is because you’re a good mom!! I hope the weekend flies by for you and that it’s full of good friends, good food, & good workouts.

Hi Janae! I found your blog while I was running with my first pregnancy and enjoyed following while you ran with your pregnancy as well. I ran the Phoenix half today and it went by pretty smooth, there was even a little rain! I was excited when you said that you were going to run it as well, I thought maybe I might see or meet you (well it would have been a very slim chance I am nowhere near as fast as you! ha ha). I am sorry about your injury, and hope you recover quickly! Hopefully commenting on your blog isn’t too strange because you do not know me, but best of luck in your future races! I hope for the best for you in this difficult time in your life. Your daughter is lucky to have a go-getter mom like you!

Your strength and courage throughout the past 6 months have really inspired me, there is nothing you cannot get through and the people in your life are so lucky to have you.

“I run to eat.” That is the steadfast saying for everyone in my house!

Thinking about you today! Go eat lots of sweets and have a long bubble bath!

Hang in there! Shopping, sleeping, movies, friends and fam. Maybe try to schedule things in. I can only imagine but those are the things id do. She will be back.

Have an awesome weekend Janae! I love that shirt…lol.

I absolutely love that quote! On many occasions I have had to slow down or walk because I couldn’t breath from heavy emotions. Sometimes it’s sadness, sometimes it’s pure joy. But running always seems to bring it out and I love it.

I hope the rest of the weekend is super fast and you get to see your cutie soon.

love the quote… nothing could be more true of running.
my grandma only makes brownies with nuts…
i had a sad childhood (kidding ;)
