Pretty stoked about it…

Pretty stoked to be in Women’s Running magazine this month.  Mom, you better put this on the fridge.

Yesterday was my rest day and so instead of waking up early to run I woke up early to eat the best bowl of cereal I have ever had.

As I was eating my cereal I was confused about why in the world it tasted a million times better than normal.  I realized that I had used whole milk.  It was amazing.  I felt like I was eating a cereal milkshake.  This will be happening again.

IMG 8839

Besides church, this is what my day looked like.

IMG 8858

For dinner we made surf and turf along with my daily sweet potato.  Each week I turn a little more orange.

IMG 8855

We finished off the night back outside with popsicles.  I wear my NYCM finisher shirt at least 3 times a week.

IMG 0073

And a video from Saturday when I rode a bike across a rope that was really high up in the air.   It doesn’t look like it was very scary but I promise it was.   Especially when I almost fell off of the bike.

The sister-in-law and I are having our own little spin class together this morning.  They have two spin bikes in their home gym and so we are waking up early to reenact the good old days.  6 years ago J (my sis-in-law) used to come to the spin class that I taught and then we became bffs and then I set her up with my brother and then they got married.  Spin class is where it all began.

I don’t know what is going on in this picture.

Afraid of heights but mostly in buildings and over bridges and such. Frosted Mini Wheats has always been the only cereal I eat :) And the only magazines I ever read are running or triathlon ones unless I’m getting my hair done. Congrats on being in Women’s Running!

Reply

Congrats on the magazine!! I read all running mags..:-)

I love cereal, but not milk. I put in barely enough milk…lol. I love lucky charms and golden grahams, but my regular go to is bran flakes with fruit in it.

My daughter rode that same bike a few years ago- she was terrified and so was I watching!! I’m not usuallly afraid of heights, but I’ve noticed that the older I get, the more I don’t really like heights.

Reply

I used to get whatever the green cap is (2%?), but lately I have been getting the whole milk one too. It definitely makes cereal taste so much better! Also, from what I’ve read there really isn’t much difference between 2% and whole milk which is only 3.5% fat… that makes me feel better than thinking it’s a difference between 2% and 100% fat :)

Reply

I can’t believe you’re in women’s running (well actually I can!) How cool!!! Currently I mix about 5 cereals every morning and have it with chocolate milk. Cracklin oat bran is my favorite :)

Reply

SO AFRAID of heights!!!!!!

Skim, whole milk hurts my belly!

Congrats on being in the magazine, that is COOL!!!

Reply

I do not know if I can pick a favorite cereal. But my most recent box is Raisin Bran. It looks like I need to add the crunch to take it from delicious to legendary.

Reply

I say that I am not afraid of heights.. and then when I am somewhere up high I get pretty darn nervous. Sooo… yes. Afraid.

I love the sugary stuff and treat myself here and there- so right now peanut butter puffs are pretty much where it’s at! I love milk with them- and 1% is usually what we get. I’m not on the almond milk train yet.

Reply

Congrats! Getting into Women’s Running magazine is a huge accomplishment!!!

Reply

Yes, deathly afraid of heights. You’ll never catch me bungee jumping or sky diving or anything like that!

Congrats on your magazine spot! :) My favorite magazine is Runner’s World.

Love milk, usually drink skim milk, but we’re soon going to be switching to buying organic milk from a farm, so it will be as whole as whole milk gets. :)

Reply

I equally love Runner’s World, Women’s Running and Running Times! That is awesome that you are in there…can’t wait to get mine!!!. I am not super afraid of heights…but can’t say that I love it either.
I am into Honey Nut Cheerios right now.
Nay on the milk!!!! I have gotten myself to where I pretty faithfully drink a cup of chocolate milk as a recovery drink :) …..and I do like that….and I use 1%

Reply

That is so cool that you are featured in Women’s Running magazine… Congrats! I love the quote they used too:)

Reply

Congratulations on the magazine spot! So exciting!

I am definitely afraid of heights. I don’t even like to go near the edge of a balcony. Ha.

I love whole milk, too. But now we’ve all gotten pretty used to almond or coconut milk. Coconut milk is pretty creamy too. And I like coconut. So, bonus.

Have a great time!

Reply

2% for me!

Reply

Cognrats on making it in the magazine!! That has to be so exciting!! I love heights, they just make me feel super happy :). Raisin Bran all the way!! I wonder if you could put raisin bran in a milkshake……I love Cosmopolitan, Muscle & Fitness: Hers, and Self a lot!! I usually drink either coconut milk or almond, I’m addicted :) Have fun with your SIL with spin!!

Reply

I am completely afraid of heights! I can’t do regular milk because I am lactose intolerant, so I choose almond milk.
Have a GREAT spin today.

Reply

You’re famous! Ha how awesome is that. It’s one thing to have a blog to see your name in actual print is awesome. It’s so true though. I love woman’s running magazine, it’s one of my favorites.

I wish they had those shirts for NYCM this year. Mine fits me so funky. The sleeves are too short (it’s like half long sleeve). While I’m not a big milk person (I go through phases and I’m in an “off phase” currently) I love creamer. 100% full fat Irish cream creamer. ha ha.

Reply

Afraid of heights? NOPE! Unless I’m on the side of a mountain with no railing…

Favorite magazine has to be either Food Network, Runner’s World, or Running Times.

Favorite Cereal – Raisin Bran Crunch is a favorite, along with Cinnamon Chex and Kashi GoLean Cinnamon Crunch (if you can’t tell I like cinnamon. :D)

I’ve recently started only using original almond milk in my house. Last night I tried to use 1% milk again since we had it for some reason, and I just don’t like it as much as I used to since I’ve gotten so used to the almond milk!

Reply

Congrats on the magazine! Yay!

Usually almond milk but sometimes skim milk with cereal :)

Reply

Short sleeves and popsicles! You know you’re not in Utah anymore! Congrats on the magazine! I don’t subscribe to that one, so I will have to hunt it down! (And I just realized I used exclamation points in every one of those sentences. Now I am questioning all of my life choices.)

Reply

You should try your cereal with Silk Almond Milk.. I like the sweetened.. It i fabulous on cereal.

Reply

Congratulations! That is so awesome! My husband likes to say that I like trashy magazines (my faves are Us Weekly and Instyle). ;)

Reply

I know Frosted Flakes are the best cereal in the world the same way I know that bicycles were meant to stay on the ground.

Reply

I’m in love with the honey toasted Chex! So good I could eat them all day

Reply

CONGRATS on both getting into the magazine and riding that bike!!!

Reply

The top of the Ferris wheel at California adventure is pretty high. With one of the sliding cars it is pretty scary.

I drank milk for the first time in months last night, skim. It wasn’t too bad. I helpedilk a cow when I was young. That milk tasted like cow/hay. That’s when I stopped drinking milk. I do put it on cereal 1-2x a month.

I get Fitness magazine.

Reply

Man tha weather in AZ looks beautiful, oh wait! I’m in AZ and yes it is beautiful lol.

Congrats on the appearance in Runner’s World – how exciting!

My favorite magazine is Food Network, obviously :-) I also like SELF, Shape and Fitness! Runner’s World is of course up there as well.

I’m currently loving Dark Chocolate Cheerios, and they taste ridiculously delicious with Almond Milk!

Reply

Love the Runner’s World article! That’s my dream! :-)

Reply

Congrats on the shout out in Runners World, I love that magazine! You are truly an inspiration to many! Not much for cereal but if I had to choose probably Lucky Charms, they are magically delicious with Almond milk. Totally not afraid of heights!

Reply

Congrats on being featured in the magazine! That’s awesome!

I am sooooo afraid of heights! No thank you!

Favorite kind of cereal: it’s a toss up between Life, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, & Captain Crunch.

I don’t mind milk in my cereal or oatmeal, but very rarely do I drink it plain. We usually get 1%.

Reply

I’m so afraid of heights it’s a bit ridiculous. Like full on ugly sobbing. Watching you on the bike makes me nervous.
I’m sort of in love with oatmeal with banana and almonds.
We only drink almond milk because the little one has a milk intolerance.

Reply

Is it weird that I no longer eat cereal? I lost all craving for it years ago. Back in the day though, I loved Life cereal with raisins. I used to let it sit in the milk and get soggy. It was the best! And oh, loved me some Cocoa Pebbles too!

Reply

I am not usually afraid of heights but I do get nervous looking down from the tops of really tall buildings, like the effiel tower or Empire State Building. 2% milk is my go-to but I also LOVE whole milk from time to time!

Reply

I’m terrified of heights. My favorite magazine is Runners World but congrats on the mention in Women’s Running, that’s awesome!
My favorite cereal is banana nut crunch and I only buy skim milk. I’d be afraid of the height but that bike in the air looks like fun.

Reply

Congrats on getting into the magazine! How exciting that must be!

Reply

Wow that is so awesome that you were featured in women’s running magazine! It looks like you are having a great time visiting with family – hope you enjoy your spin session this morning!

Reply

Watching you tip the bike gave me major anxiety! I was pretty sure you weren’t going to fall off but still!
We do whole milk but I’m off dairy while nursing my babe. I make coconut milk for me to use and it’s good.

Reply

How awesome about being in the magazine!
Heights: I’m not scared if I know I’m safe
Favorite mag: food network magazine, it’s huge and incredible
Favorite cereal: granola!
Milk: almond milk! I’ve never liked cows milk

Reply

The bike riding looks pretty epic!! Since it was indoors I think I could handle it. I can handle heights most of the time, although looking off of mountains can make me a little dizzy.
Favorite cereal is chez vanilla! I can not stop eatting it.

Reply

congrats on getting in women’s running! That is so amazing.

Reply

I ran a half-marathon yesterday, Janae and thought of you. Girl, HOW do you do it? Love your blog, love your ideas …… I worked on ‘Mind Gym.’ Everything is in the mind; you are so right. Recovering from the day …… Ridsx Ps. I need to change my cereal … too much oats can make you get bored!

Reply

You’re so famous! That’s awesome that you’re in Women’s Running!

I’m not really afraid of heights, but I’m pretty sure I’d be a little freaked out on a tight rope bike.

Reply

Congratulations on the magazine!

I am in love with Multi Grain Cheerios, and the new dark chocolate crunch multi grain cheerios, and cinnamon cheerios!

milk: skim

Reply

Look at you in the magazine!! Soo cool! Also that bike looks super scary. I don’t know if I could do it. I’m kind of a scaredy cat.

Reply

I am not surprised to hear others love your blog at all!

My favorite cereal right now is oatmeal with bananas, nuts, and honey.

Random: I got a puppy, and despite being bleary eyed from our exciting first night together, cannot get over how adorable and obsessed I am!

Reply

Congrats on making the cut for the magazine! At least they know how awesome you are like we do.

Whole milk makes my cereal so much better too. I try to avoid it or else I’ll eat 13 bowls.

Reply

I am not afraid of heights… I love Women’s Running, Runner’s World and Real Simple. :)
I love that you’re on a sweet potato kick! I have 2 a week!! I like to put butter and cinnamon on mine. :)
I love chocolately delight special K. We like 1% in our house.

Reply

Awww congrats on the magazine!! Sooo afraid of heights. And large bodies of open water. And snakes. And lizards. I have issues.
I mainly drink almond milk, but if I drink regular milk it’s fat free (or as my boyfriend puts it, water pretending to be milk).

Reply

congrats on the mag feature! Need to subscribe to that one how have I not?!??! and loveeee sweet potato

Reply

Hey! that’s my picture! :)
Awesome-sauce.
That is all.

Reply

I love sweet potatoes too. I could eat them everyday if I let myself. Where’s desert? That’s my favorite part of your posts!

Reply

I am scared to death of heights and it just gets worse as I get older!

I don’t really have a favorite magazine…I rarely buy them so whenever I get one, it’s a treat!

I’m obsessed with Basic 4 which is kind of weird. I now use 2% milk after years of being a skim milk drinker, and it tastes SO much better!

Reply

I’m not afraid of heights but am afraid of falling from very high up! That is so cool you made it into Women’s Running. I rarely read magazine but most of the one’s we get are triathlon related. I can’t remember the last time I had real milk. It was definitely over a year ago (my son couldn’t tolerate it) so it’s all almond and coconut milk in our house!

Reply

Im not too bad with heights – but I wont be doing any skydives etc.

Wouldnt say I read too many magasines, tend to catch articles here and there on the web.

1% milk all the way. Took a week or so to get used too though. Sometimes, when I have a shake, I use whole milk. Always makes it incredibly thick!

Reply

The higher the roller coaster/amusement park ride the better. I love the adrenaline rush.
fave cereal right now- Grapenuts Fit Cranberry, but Reese’s PB Puffs will always have a place in my heart
fave magazine- Runner’s World, Glamour, Food & Wine
no cow milk, just almond or coconut milk or better yet Almond Breeze’s Coconut Almond milk blend

Reply

I’m on that page of this Women’s Running issue too – in the Twitter section :) I need to go get a copy!

I have a problem with milk – I drink wayyy too much of it, like an unhealthy amount. We get 2%…I hate skim, it tastes so weird and watered down. As for cereal, right now I’m loving Smart Start.

Reply

Oh. My. Gosh. That is the coolest thin in the history of the world that you got to be in Women’s Running!

One of my dreams in lufe is to e featured in Runner’s World’s rave runs. Tbd dumb thing is, I have the pictures already, and have just not written in!

Reply

Almond milk all the way! It’s naturally a little sweet, so it makes cereal–especially Cinnamon Toast Crunch, that much better!

Reply

I haven’t had whole milk since I was a kid- I’ll have to try it sometime! Lately I’ve been drinking almond milk or coconut milk., which are both amazinggg. That bike looks like so much fun!

Reply

Congrats on being in women’s running! that’s truly awesome and you totally deserve it :) I’m good with all kinds of milk: nonfat, whole, non-dairy, it’s all good by me. but now I have a hankering for a bowl of raisin bran

Reply

congrats on being featured in women’s running! you’re such a celebrity ;)

i’ve had a sweet potato 3 nights in a row with my dinner. so yummy! i feel like i’m going to turn orange any second :) as for my favorite cereal…i’d have to go with puffins!

Reply

Cereal milk shake — I love it! :)

And congrats on Women’s Running!

Reply

Congrats on the magazine! I am not a milk fan, but if I do drink it, I can only handle skim. I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t really eat cereal either. When I do, I only like Cookie Crisp and Fruity Pebbles. The most nutritional ones, of course :)

Reply

Congratulations on the magazine post!!

Reply

Congrats on being in the mag!

Reply

That bike thing is crazy…but I would totally try it!
Congrats on your celebrity status this month!

Reply

Raisin Bran Crunch is a solid contender but nothing will ever beat my beloved cinnamon life. Ive been pretty into almond milk lately but I also like 2%.

Reply

First off CONGRATS!! That is so exciting. Can’t wait to get my copy this month! Woo Hoo HRG!
Yes I am afraid of heights!
Runners World is my favorite.
My favorite cereal is Traders Joes Vanilla Almond.
I can’t tolerate the regular milk so I choose Almond Milk. It’s so delicious.

Reply

Totally scared of heights, but I’m also counter-phobic so I tend to seek out stuff that scares me. That’s why I joined a climbing gym a couple of years ago. For awhile I’d climb to the top and come down without looking. Then my instructor wised up and wouldn’t belay me down until I turned and looked. It was awesome. I definitely want to try that bike!

So cool about the mag appearance :)

Reply

Congrats on being in Women’s Running! I love the Quaker granola with dates and raisins. I am very afraid of heights. And I’m allergic to milk so I drink almond milk. :)

Reply

So for me…as a total health nut, I enjoy unsweetened almondmilk with some vanilla stevia or coconut sugar. I love to warm the milk and add some cacao powder, and coconut sugar to make some chocolate milk. I’m also loving some Garden of Life Raw Protein. It tastes amazing with almondmilk. : )

I don’t really eat cereal anymore, but if I was eating cereal it would be Whole Me’s Eatme cereal. : )

Ha! The sweet potato story makes me laugh. I have been known to consume sweet potato and carrots dipped in pumpkin all at the same meal…oh my…how did I not turn orange?!

Have a great day Janae!!!

Reply

I just posted on my blog that I exclusively drink whole milk and I got all sorts of appalled comments that I was such a fatty. Whatever, whole milk is amazing and every other kind just tastes watered down and gross. I’ll take the extra 50 calories or whatever and I’m sure everyone drinking skim will laugh at me come bikini season.

Reply

Way to represent strong women everywhere! That is pretty cool and something that would definitely go on my wall. :) I am a big fan of running magazines and will have to check that one out. I love reading Runner’s World while eating a bowl of Fiber One cereal.

Reply

Amazing – the mag coverage is awesome!! Congrats!

Am not afraid of heights…sky diving was AMAZING! But spiders are a whole different story! LOL!

LOVE milk – usually get skim but am happy with 1% or 2%..and I’m sure I’d love the whole milk in my cereal too!!

Reply

Congrats on making the magazine! As a brand new blogger, you are what I aspire to be one day!

Reply

Congratulations on being quoted in Women’s running Magazine. Troy rode that bike at the science museum, it made me so nervous to watch him.
I’m totally afraid of heights and wouldn’t have gotten on. My favorite magazine is Fitness RX for women. I don’t have a favorite cereal right now, I really haven’t been eating any. I love milk and usually do 1 or 2 %.

Reply

Congrats Janae! So awesome! Totally putting it on my fridge too ;)

Reply

So cool! Congrats on the magazine!

Not afraid of highest…usually.

Favorite magazine—Runner’s World, Women’s Running, and Women’s Health

Favorite kind of cereal —> Puffins, and Peanut Butter Puffins w/ Almond Milk.

P.S. Reading your blog always makes me crave random things like apple fritters and sweet potatoes. :-) And frozen yogurt of course. :-)

Reply

Congrats! Can’t wait to read the article.
I don’t really eat cereal…weird. But I am deathly afraid of heights, unless I’m in a helicopter. I can even open the door and lean out (long range receiver..blah blah blah) and I feel fine. If I’m by a cliff I have to crawl to the edge to look over. I probably need counseling. :)

Reply

Congrats on being featured in Women’s Running! What an awesome accomplishment. And skim milk for me. :) Happy Monday!

Rachel @ runningonhappy

I have a love/hate relationship with heights. I kind of have a thing with sitting on rooftops when I’m sad… But take me to a super high roller coaster and I can’t look down without losing it.

Favorite magazine is probably Dysfunction (an indie fashion magazine) with Runner’s World coming in for a close second.

I don’t know. I just really love cereal. Maybe Raisin Bran? Or cinnamon chex… Or FrootLoops…

-Raisin Bran Crunch.

Milk… yay or nay? What % do you usually get?

Congrats on the article, hopefully it’s displayed on the fridge proudly :)

Reply

Congrats on being in the magazine!! That’s awesome:)

Reply

So cool! I’ll be on the look out for the magazine, I always read it anyway, but I’ll be sure to check it out this month:)

Reply

I drink skim milk because my stomach can’t handle anything stronger. My favorite cereal is probably Reeses Puffs, but I only eat it on special occasions because it isn’t very good for me haha. That bike looked like so much fun!

Reply

Congrats on the magazine shout out!

I don’t know the last time I ate cereal with milk. I eat random cereal in yogurt sometimes though.

Reply

That is so awesome: You are in Women’s Running!!! Congrats!

I am super terrified of heights. I didn’t used to be as a kid, but I really started noticing it in my University years. It’s gotten progressively worse too. I would NEVER have rode that bike across the rope! lol.

Reply

Ah! My subscription to Women’s Running just ran out, so I didn’t get to see this. So glad you posted about it! Congrats, how fun!!

Reply

Congrats girl on your magazine post! That’s just awesome! aaaaaand I LOVE milk! Started drinking it by the gallon when I was little and never stopped! That’s why when last week the doctor said I should get an MRI to check on a potential stress fracture in my fibula I was shocked! I thought I had the strongest bones on earth :(

Reply

Oh my goodness, Janae! Congratulations on the feature in Womens Running – That’s a HUGE deal. Yaaa!!!

Reply

Almond Milk is delicious. The unsweetened kind from Whole Foods.

Apple Cinnamon Glutino is a newfound favorite cereal.

Reply

I am kind of afraid of heights, but I don’t really like to admit it. I will try to be all calm and cool, but they kind of freak me out a little. But that bike thing looks super cool!

I don’t really have a favorite magazine at the moment, but that is so cool that you are featured in that magazine!! I get Runners World delivered (christmas present from my ex’s mom) but I haven’t really been reading them lately. Having a hard time getting excited about running since I really can’t yet.

I don’t have a favorite cereal, I love so many different ones. From granola cereals to kids cereals like Trix and Fruity Pebbles, I seriously could eat almost any cereal. I like milk in any percent. I like whole milk the best, but my roommate only likes fat free skim milk, and since I prefer to share milk to save on costs, I will drink the fat free stuff. Plus it’s a little healthier for you.

Reply

That is so exciting, congratulations Janae on making it into Women’s Running magazine!!!!

Yes, I am afraid of heights!!!!! And my favorite magazine is People Magazine and Runners World.

Reply

Congrats on the magazine! I’m not really afraid of heights. I like to jump off of high things. Right now, I love buying store brand mini-wheats. And when I mean store brand I mean non-Kellogs (sorry Kellogs). The reason is the generic/store brand tends to have more sugar coated coverage =).

Reply

Congrats on your magazine appearance! That’s super awesome!!

Your cereal is making me super jealous right now. It officially gave me a craving!

Reply

I can onlyyyy do 1% or nonfat milk. I can’t handle anything else. Besides almond milk, that is, which is what I usually drink :) I’m addictedddd to FMW right now- it’s been one of my biggest pregnancy cravings! Ha! Sound familiar?? OMG that bike on a rope looks SO scary. There is no way I’d do that.

xo

Reply

Congrats on the magazine! THAT is awesome!! You deserve it though. duh!

I don’t love heights either–yucko.

Yes milk! 1%!

Reply

Congrats on the magazine feature — so cool! :)

Reply

I’m not so much afraid of heights as I am afraid of edges.

I used to like Women’s health magazine a lot, but the last few that I have read I haven’t been excited about. Runners world is always a winner.

Frosted Mini Wheats are the best – I have a problem

Milk is usually 2% at my house

Reply

You are my absolute favorite blogger – so glad you got featured!!

Reply

so cool you are in a magazine! Love the time you are having, but jealous of the green grass

Reply

Congrats on getting quoted in Women’s Running magazine! That’s exciting!

I’m very much afraid of heights, but I think after watching a few people ride across (and rock the way you did without falling off), I might cautiously ride that bike.

We drink 1% milk, and recently I accidentally bought 2% and when I tasted it on my cereal I thought I had died and gone to heaven! I don’t know if I could handle the happiness of having whole milk on my cereal!

Reply

Not really afraid of heights.
Almond or coconut milk – or 1/2 almond, 1/2 coconut!
Runners World or Women’s Running – so CONGRATS! Gotta go get my copy!
Cereal – Mom’s Best Honey Grahams. With coconut milk! OMG YUMMMMMMM!
Now I want some. :(

Congrats on the magazine!

I’m terribly afraid of heights. I don’t like flying… or even tall buildings.

I’m an almond milk girl.

I’ve really been digging Kind granola :)!

Reply

so so afraid of heights! Last year my sister and I did a high ropes course and I can say for sure that it was not for me, I was so stressed!

Reply

So coincidental that you posted this, because we just watched the adorable documentary “Man on Wire” tonight. It’s about the man who walked a highwire between the twin towers – and I don’t recommend watching if you’re afraid of heights!

Reply

I love milk! I am a whole milk ONLY kind of gal! Anything else just tastes yucky! We are switching to organic milk right now which is a little difficult because it tastes a little bit different!

Congrats on being in the mag! And that’s a great spinning story for how your bro and SIL in met!
