I have never been more excited for a bday party and my quote of the week.

Rachelle has a birthday next Monday and Julia and I also turned 28 this year so Rachelle put together the coolest bday party ever.  28 miles of bday celebrating.  Runners really are crazy.

Screen Shot 2014 03 13 at 7 40 11 AM

I won’t be doing the full 28 because my body will crumble into 400 pieces if I attempted that but I am going to try and get in a good amount of miles with the group.  I can’t wait.  I also can’t wait to finish my long run with eating birthday cake at 9 in the morning.

The above picture was from a 1/2 marathon that we did in St. George back in 2011.

Friends that run together stay together.

Pump and 1 mile on the treadmill before class this morning (saving my legs for above mentioned awesomeness).

Curly gave us an amazing tour of her school.

IMG 9043

And I got all fancy in the kitchen and made lunch for me and my sister.  Roasted broccoli and a wrap.

IMG 9042

And during nap time my sister and I decided to start the weekend early by being lazy and catching up on Modern Family episodes.  Rough life we had today.

IMG 9047

You know you look forward to holidays because of the candy too.  Don’t deny it.

IMG 9044

Curly and I got busy in the kitchen with the above candy.

My cookie recipe (not sure where it came from but my family and I have been using it for decades):

1 cup butter or margarine, softened

3/4 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

3 cups flour

3/4 tsp salt

3/4 tsp baking soda

Coconut M&Ms and semi-sweet chocolate chips (the more of both of these items the better)

Cream together butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla.  In a separate bowl sift together flour, salt and baking soda.  Add to creamed mixture and beat well.  Stir in chocolate chips (and candy).  Drop onto greased cookie sheet by heaping tablespoons.  Bake at 350 degrees F. for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.  Makes 3 dozen.

The quote I am loving right now:

The past is to be learned from but not lived in.”  Jeffrey R Holland (I adore his quotes)

Moving forward and focusing on the future is something I am really working on.  Learning from what I went through but not dwelling on the situation makes me so much happier.  I love my new normal life so why would I waste time ‘living’ in the past?!?  Just something to think about.

What year did you run your very first race?

-2006 (my first half marathon) and then I didn’t do another race until 2010 and after that I was hooked.

Tell me a quote that you are loving lately (I am obsessed with quotes and I want to know what you are loving right now too)!

Favorite holiday candy?

Last errand that you did?

I think Cadbury mini eggs are one of my favourites!

Love your quote! I just watched the Dean Karnazes documentary so I am loving the quote “Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up.”

The Cadbury eggs (and the Christmas version) are so good. I could eat the whole bag and probably have! I also love the Easter colored peanut m&ms. The pastel colors make them taste even better!

I ran my first and only 5K when I was 11 (1983). I finished in 30 minutes and was so proud of myself then ate cold/leftover pizza in the car while my mom ran errands.
One of my favorite quotes: whether you think you can or you think you can’t you are right! Favorite holiday candy would be jelly beans for Easter. But I LOVE all candy so really hard to pick a fave. Last errand was grocery shopping on Saturday.

Take us along for the journey :)

I would love to do a 25 mile bike ride on my actual birthday :)

I dont think I’ve EVER had the first comment lol. Wow 28 mile bday party…in the past that would of been insane, but these days I think I would be down for that. Cookies look amazing.

First Race – December 2013, yup three months ago and I am HOOKED!
Quotes – Since having my daughter “Fathers: be your daughters 1st love. Open doors for her, pull her seat out, & talk to/treat her with the utmost respect…Set expectations on how a man should treat a lady, and she’ll never settle for anything less”
Holiday Candy – I have one for each holiday, so easter it has to be PEEPS.
Last Errand – Buy lottery tickets. I am still dreaming on hitting the jackpot lol

Well I thought I was first lol…took too long typing.

A quote I saw today that I really like…

“We need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated they can be humble, so fierce they can be compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.”

I love this quote from Ellen Goodman, a former newspaper columnist at the Seattle Times:

“There’s a trick to the Graceful Exit. It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, a relationship is over — and to let go. It means leaving what’s over without denying its validity or its past importance in our lives.

“It involves a sense of future, a belief that every exit line is an entry, that we are moving on rather than out.”

So I’m sitting here eating Peanut Butter M&M eggs as I’m reading your post and get to your picture of the coconut eggs and cookies! They look amazing! I LOVE Easter candy!! It is my favorite holiday candy! It’s hard to pick a favorite… I love the eggs, jelly beans, big chocolate bunnies :) The list goes on and on!

I ran my first race ever in 2011, which was a 5K. First half in 2012, and signed up for my first marathon in 2013 but hurt myself and didn’t quite get there. So 2014 is my year! My marathon is May 3 and my 25th birthday is May 28. I would like to do 25 birthday miles, but I might just have to say I did them a few weeks early ;)

We just had ward conference this week and our stake president was talking about not have a “grass is greener” mentality. He said “the grass is green right where you are!” I love that! We have such a tendency to look to the past or the future and not enjoy right where we are :)

My first 5K was Feb 2013 – I can’t believe it was only a year ago, it feels like I’ve been running forever! I can’t wait to have my first full marathon in the bag after this year :)

I love the idea of running 28 for 28 years! I’ll be 28 this year too and I don’t think I’ll be able to do 28 on my bday since I will be in marathon training mode, I may have to get a birthday relay together! haha

My first race was probably Field Day in elementary school…if we’re counting that. Otherwise, there was the “Fastest Kid in Town” race at a local 5k, then the 200/400 in middle school track meets. Favorite quote:

“Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.”
-Leonard Cohen

My first race was actually a marathon in 2004. Someone told me I could never run a marathon so I signed up the very next day and then I was hooked!

My favorite quote: “Forward is a pace” I use it when I’m having a bad run.

Oh, I like that quote a lot!

Favorite quote (well, scripture): Be Still.
I need this in my life so many times it’s not even funny.

First race was in 2012 and I was 4 months pregnant. I LOVED it!

I’m not sure this quote is appropriate for your situation but I heard it lately from someone who lost someone dear to them. ‘Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened’. Dr Seuss. As I said, probably not useful for you right now.

My last errand was going to my little boy’s new school (he starts in September) and officially registering him for transitional kindergarten.Kind of freaked out – he was a baby last time I looked.

Those cookies look amazing! I ran my very first race in 8th Grade and it was a sprint race and I came in 2nd to last, not fun.
A quote I’m loving lately is “Your beliefs don’t make you a better person, your behavior does.” Also, “As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being directed to something better.”
I don’t think I have a favorite holiday candy, it’s all good! The last errand I did was grocery shopping.

My first ever race was Wasatch Back Ragnar in 2010 – I had never even ran until fall of 2009 (I was 29!). I got suckered into running by some girls in my neighborhood and have been hooked ever since. I ran my first 5k, 10k and half marathon that same year. Since then I have run 10 relays, 9 half marathons, 1 full marathon and a handfull of 5 & 10k – I hate those!
Funny part is I started running with the goal to run a 5k with my son the following July – I never had any intention of running races on a regular basis.

Favorite quote – Anything in life worth doing, is worth over-doing.

“In the end, the number of prayers we say may contribute to our happiness, but the number of prayers we answer may be of even greater importance.” -Uchtdorf

Reminds me to always look for service opportunities.

I diggin this quote lately and even tweeted it today….You are not fat. You have fat, but you’re not fat. You also have fingernails but you’re not a fingernail, are you?

I went to Trader Joes with the kids a few minutes ago :)…
Where did you buy your Macbook? I am looking to go Apple and trying to decide the best place to get it :)!!!

My favorite quote: Live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one would believe it. I just love that! My first race was just after I turned forty. I am now forty seven and must always have a race on the calendar. This weekend…the Shamrock Shuffle!

Love quotes – here’s a few you might enjoy:

It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.

There are two ways to live your life – one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle.
– Albert Einstein

I am grateful for what I am and have.
My Thanksgiving is perpetual…
O how I laugh when I think of my vague indefinite riches.
No run on my bank can drain it
for my wealth is not possession but enjoyment.
– Henry David Thoreau

Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
– Lao Tzu

This article of life lessons also rocks – I read it often: http://www.cleveland.com/brett/blog/index.ssf/2006/05/regina_bretts_45_life_lessons.html

Quote: All sunshine makes desert.

My first race was a 5k in 1998. I didn’t race again till my first half in 2009!! I was definitely hooked after the half.

Love the Easter Reese’s peanut butter eggs, yum!

Just went to costco earlier today….got the usual haul plus a rotisserie chicken for dinner since I have a meeting to go to tonight and won’t have time to cook. Love their chicken!

Those cookies look AMAZING!!!!!!! Gah! Now I have a serious cookie craving!

I would love to run my age on my birthday at some point. I’ve thought about it the past few years, but the timing didn’t work out with race training or injuries. Unfortunately, I am not one of those runners that can run as much as I want whenever I want without getting injured. :(

Saw this quote on Facebook today: “I am in charge of how I feel, and today I am choosing happiness”. :)

I hope you bring me one of those cookies tomorrow. Just sayin ;) I have made chocolate cookies and put the Cadbury eggs in them. They are Anna’s favorite and are so delicious right out of the oven cause the shell of the eggs crack and the chocolate is all melty inside.

Have so much fun on your run Saturday. Maybe you should ride on your bike the rest of the miles so you won’t miss out on any good conversation that I am sure will happen with those 2 ;)

I think Reese’s eggs might be my favorite. Something about the shape, I don’t know, but they are better than any other holiday shaped Reese’s there are. Followed dangerously close by cadbury eggs…then jelly beans…Starburst jelly beans are the only way to go. Oh my. Easter candy seriously is the best of all the seasons.

I ran my first ‘race’ in 2001. It was 5k for the cure and my whole family did it. Only I didn’t train, didn’t care and just walked the whole thing. I pretty much hated running at the time. lol. I started running that year and did the hilliest 5k and thought I was going to die in 2002 and then started 10ks and halfs in 2003.

2007! Hooked since then.
Favorite quote comes from a 15 year old girl in our community while sitting on the bench of her basketball team during a game ( she couldn’t play anymore because she had final stages of terminal bone cancer and still showed up and sat with her team on the bench until she passed away this November) as she was listening to the others on the team complaining about every silly little thing she turned to the coach ( also our running team captain) and said

“you know coach, some kids just have to learn to suck it up”

its turning into our team motto.

Cadbury eggs! No errands today, we are buried in snow!

Two quotes that go hand in hand:

What Susie says about Sally says more of Susie than of Sally. AND
Don’t tell me what they said about me, tell me why they were comfortable saying it around you.

Just dealing with people drama lately and it exhausts me!!

I went to Target today and I won’t admit how many bags of Easter candy I bought! And we don’t have any kids!!!

I’m going to give those cookies a try next weekend! The SKOOKIE should be arriving today, just in time for Sophia’s visit tomorrow!

I ran my first 5K in 2008 with my Daddio.

“Those who wish to sing always find a song.”

Robin’s Eggs! <3 <3 <3

I washed my Jeep…that counts, right? It should, it's only the second time this year that I've washed it.

Ohhhh I need to get those m&m’s!!

I love the Reese’s peanut butter eggs :)

I’ve found a bunch of great quotes on Pinterest lately and one that stuck with me this week was ‘Think happy, Be happy’

Sour Patch Kids have come to Australia and I immediately thought of you! Unfortunately I can’t try them as they contain gluten, but I was rather excited for a few seconds. ;-)

Your birthday run party sounds awesome! I would break into 400 pieces with that mileage, too! My favorite quote as of late: “Ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.” (Not sure who this quote is by, but I *love* it!)

That party sounds so fun! Yay!

I love Cadbury eggs….Mmmm! :)

2004 was my first race: a 5K at UVU. It was a laid back, April Fool’s Day race. Perfect for me because I am a stress case. I came in 2nd to last. :)

My favorite quote is, “Why do you do what you do, when you know what you know?”

I love the starburst jelly beans. And, of course, those mini twix, cookies n’cream bars, and basically anything chocolate are winners.

Last errand was to the library. They said I still had eight books out. What? Why can I never find all the books to return!?

Your perspective is so inspiring. Not just for people going through a divorce. . . just a great mindset to take no matter where you are in your life.

Those cookies look amazing! I can’t wait to try them. My husband loves those coconut M&M’s.

BTW I am hosting a Pro Compression Giveaway http://wp.me/p4fmQC-68

Those cookies look sooooo…yummy. And I’m so jealous of all the amazing lollies/candy you have. Coconut M&Ms!!! And are those Easter Egg M&Ms? I could travel to to the USA just to eat candy :-)

My favourite quote: never, never, never give up. It has served me well over some rough times.

“I love my new normal life so why would I waste time ‘living’ in the past?!?”

Love this!!! And you are so right! Thanks for this, it was a great reminder today:)

I adore those mms!!!

First race was 2007.
Last errand….does going to the dentist count? Because that’s what I did this afternoon.
Enjoy the birthday run!

I ran my first race, the Houston Marathon, in 2008. It was an awesome experience and I have been hooked ever since!

People usually love them or hate them, but I LOVE Cadbury crème eggs.

Quote that I love: “If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself.” -Albert Einstein

That party run sounds like so much fun! I need to move to Utah (and become a much better runner) so that I can join all your fun :) My favorite holiday candy is definitely Christmas candy….I can’t get enough chocolate mint!

One of my favorite quotes is from the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil:
“Two tears in a bucket, mother**** it.”
Not wholesome at all, but a great reminder to not dwell in the past. Great book, too!

Also, from Running on Empty:
“Keep going, no matter what, one foot in front of the other, millions of times.”
Really great read!

2008 was my first 5k race. Never thought I’d ever want to run farther than that and I’ve done 2 Ironmans since then. :-)

My favourite life quote – “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life”

My favourite training quote – “You’ll never regret a run but you’ll always regret not running.”

“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain”- Dolly Parton

“If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.”-Dolly Parton

I just found these quotes tonight from a friend that posted them on Facebook. I love a good quote :)

Coconut M&M’s are the best, but I’ll have to wait until Easter to eat them since I gave sweets up for Lent!

Coconut M&M’s!?! I need to try these!! Those cookies look delicious!

Those cookies look awesome!!!!
Love running bdays…that is so cool. I started doing a New Year’s Day run for every year (so 14 this year) but I never thought of doing a bday run…probably bc I cannot run 28 miles lol…

First race was in 2010. A 5k Halloween themed race. I was hooked after that and I run that 5k every year with family and friends now.

I just ate WAY too many of those chocolate speckled-covering eggs at a baby shower, today. Zero guilt, because I went for a didn’t-want-to-run-but-did-it-anyway run afterward. I’ll probably give into one of those Cadbury caramel eggs sometime in the next month or so, too…

My first race was last year, the Beat the Bridge 8k in Seattle. It was a blast, and I’m totally hooked. :) I have three others of varying lengths coming up this Spring/Summer season.

Favorite quote for this teacher? “The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.” – Plutarch

I have another amazing quote I heard yesterday for the first time “wisdom is nothing more than healed pain”. Love it. And love the one you posted!

I. LOVE! COCONUT!!!!!!! I can not BELIEVE I have never put these m&m’s in cookies!!! This is on my to-do list for THIS WEEKEND! Good idea Janae!

I ran my very first race back in 1997, when I was a freshman in high school and joined the cross-country team. And if I knew then what I know now, I would have a) designed more breathable shirts because they were non existent back then ad it would have made me a millionaire at age 14, and b) I would have pushed myself a lot harder. I was pretty lazy back then!

I love peanut butter M&M’s in my cookies. I must make some this weekend!

those cookies look amazing

My first race was a stroller 5k…through a zoo..it was hard work

I ran my very first race in March 2008. My daughter was 20 months old, I was 33 and I needed a kick to get serious about getting back in shape. It was a 5k fundraiser and different family members had pledged money for me to finish. It’s funny looking back on that 5k- it seemed so long and now that’s my go-to distance that I can run without training.

“Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other man to die”- I’m not sure who said it but I like it a lot.

Favorite holiday candy? All of it.

So when I turn 16 next year I am SO doing that kind of bday party! My first race was a 5k in 2008- I was 9! I didn’t start getting serious about running until my first half marathon last May. One of my favorite quotes: Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness. :)

I can never find the good m&m flavors- only the oldies! I need some birthday cake and coconut m&ms in my life!

Happy Friday!!! So you and your girlfriends all turned 28 in one year. . . this year 4 of us best friends all turn 30!!! Hitting the beach in Aug to celebrate!!
My 1st race was the Manchester Road Race and I was 16, year 2000. My 1st 1/2 marathon was in 2009, The Country Music 1/2 in TN. Then it was all down hill from there and I was hooked on these races!!
Favorite quote “Strong is the new Skinny”!!!!!!
I am so with you on the coconut M&M’s!!

I did my first race in 2005 and have been running ever since. I have fallen in love with birthday cake m&ms, thank to you. I also found birthday cake oreos! They’re delicious too! I saw carrot cake m&ms in the Easter candy; have you tried? Those cookies look yummy!

a running birthday party??? WHhhaaaaat!!!!!! That is my kinda party!!! Every year on my bday (it is MAy 1st) i try to convinve my friends to come out for a run with me, or run a half marathon or SOMETHING like that and NOBODY ever does!! WAHH!!!! Lucky for me they are still amazing friends.

I love the holidays becuase of different candy…right now jelly beans are my weakness. i have to stop myself from eating the giant bag daily. I’m not going to fit in my running shorts this weekend!!!

Oh and PS…enjoy the party! Anytime you can end a long run with cake is A-OK by me!

For your group birthday race, I’d start off running with the group and then meet up with them for the last few miles too!

I’m not huge into easter candy (like cadbury eggs or peeps) but jelly belly jelly beans (can’t be any others) are good and reese’s peanut butter eggs – they both will make my easter basket this year!

I think my first race was a 5k in 2010.

favourite holiday candy- anything Reeses’s. every. single. time.

cadbury eggs are the best. i have a girls weekend planned in two weeks and that is our #1 item.. also wine.

two of my favorite quotes/verses.
1. Jeremiah 29:11
2. “I don’t have big dreams, I have big plans”

I started running and ran my first races in 2013. I started with a 5K in May and worked my way up to a half marathon in October.

Unless you’re willing to have a go, fail miserably, and have another go, success won’t happen. – Phillip Adams.

Oh ran my first race last cinco de mayo 10k trail run. Was hooked immediately have run 7 races since from 5k to Hal marathon. Running a st patty day 10k tomorrow.

Favorite quote: Be kind to everyone you meet, because you never know what battles they are fighting.

Favorite holiday candy: Candy corn and candy canes.

My first race other than cross country was in 2008…a 5k then a half marathon (one day after recovering from the flu…but I ran it and won free mizuno shoes!). Next races were not until 2013…I was running in the meantime, but not racing. 2013 brought 2 half marathons and my first full marathon!

My favorite quote right now is … hmmm…not sure I have one at the moment!

Favorite holiday candy is probably cadbury creme eggs, or the cherry cordial hershey kisses at Christmas!

Last errand…paid a bill (sigh)

Those cookies look amazing! Can you deliver me some, ASAP! My first half marathon was in New Orleans – the Mardi Gras Half Marathon. It is so much fun. If you are looking for a destination race…

My first race was in 2011. I couldn’t run very much. I finished in 48 minutes. Then I decided to push myself and run more 5k’s improving my time each race. My last 5k was 27 minutes and I do hope to get faster.

The last errand I had to run was birthday shopping for my dad and brother. I got my brother the Madden 25 and got my dad the bean bag toss, washer toss, and ladder ball game. A 3 in 1. EVEN BETTER! They both loved their gifts.

I LOVE Cadbury mini eggs (the solid chocolate, not the creme eggs) – so good!

whoa, i definitely won’t be running 28 miles on my 28th birthday next month ;) i love that idea, though!

i ran my first race (a 5k) in 2009 and then ran my first half in 2010!

My first half was in 2013!! And I was hooked! Love candy corn, candy canes (peppermint, none of those weird flavors), and basically all the candy! I sound like Buddy the Elf.

I need those cookies in my life. And I am SO excited to get my hands on some Peeps. They’re my faaaavorite!

I ran my first 5k in 2012, which got me hooked and gave methe running bug. I just signed up for my first 1/2 marathon!

My all time favorite quote- “I love the person I’ve become because I fought to become her”- Kaci Diane

Favorite holiday candy is definitely candy corn!

My first race is next Saturday!!!! I’m doing a 10k with my dad (he’s run the last two SF Giants half marathons but I’ve never run more than 3-4 mi outside before… I’m hoping I can keep up with him!)

My favorite Easter candy has to be See’s chocolate buttercream eggs – I don’t think I’ve had one in a couple years but they are simply the best!

Favorite quote at the moment… I can’t pick just one:

“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” – Jane Goodall

“Never stop. Never stop fighting. Never stop dreaming. And don’t be afraid of wearing your heart on your sleeve – in declaring the films that you love, the films that you want to make, the life that you’ve had, and the lives you can help reflect in cinema. For myself, for a long time… maybe I felt inauthentic or something, I felt like my voice wasn’t worth hearing, and I think everyone’s voice is worth hearing. So if you’ve got something to say, say it from the rooftops.” – Tom Hiddleston (yes, Loki =P)

Btw have you seen this?! It’s kind of from your neck of the woods and is pretty awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuCfD7mRt_8

I can’t remember what year I ran my first race…maybe 2007?

I’m about to go grocery shopping and that definitely counts as an errand.

Holiday candy really is the best. I need to stay away from the Cadbury Mini Eggs. We’ve already gone through two bags this “season.”

Hahaha Curly kills me. She is so stinkin’ cute. That last picture of her with the cookies! Ugh.

O jeez…I think it was the Philly zoo run 10k in 1989. I still have the t-shirt. LOL

My fave Easter candy is the Hershey’s candy-coated milk chocolate eggs. No contest. Those things are my crack, but I don’t eat them anymore. I’m in recovery…and allergic :(

Have a great run with your friends!

Favorite Quote: Let your Dreams be Bigger Than your Memories

I love the Snickers Eggs, but your cookies look yumo! I need a Gluten Free version of those for the WIN!

Last errand was to the AT&T store! Blah!

I know a lot of people think they’re gross but I love Cadbury cream eggs, especially the minis!

I only ran my first race last year! Im looking forward to when it comes around shortly, aiming for a 10k PB!

I read this quote once…

“Once in a blue moon I have a run which is effortless & I feel as though I am flying and can run and run all day and all night… and that run is THE run that keeps me going until the next blue moon…”
