I lucked out. Even though I slept around 9 hours on the flights here when I got back to my friend’s house last night at midnight I fell right asleep until 6 a.m. without a problem. I am telling myself that I have skipped out on the whole jet lag thing because somehow I feel great.
I really tried hard to run outside but the humidity and heat almost killed me off. I made it 3 miles this morning at about a 9 min/mile pace and then decided that the treadmill is going to be the best option for me while I am here.
3 miles outside and 7k on the treadmill… so a little more than 7 miles?!
Just my breakfast alone made me decide that Brooke and I are coming back to Thailand for an extended time (or maybe we should just move here;) to stay with my friends in a few months.
Croissant + chocolate in the middle + candied almonds. It was also straight out of the oven. Just FYI… one of my favorite parts about traveling is the food. Each post will probably contain 300 pictures of food.
After bfast we went to the Chatuchak outdoor market… Oh ya know—> just the world’s largest weekend market! It was insane. I could have spent 15 hours walking around and I still wouldn’t have seen everything (maybe an exaggeration but still). Over 35 acres, 15,000 stalls and around 200,000 visitors each day.
We had mango and watermelon smoothies (straight from heaven, I swear) while we walked around.
And pineapple that tasted like candy.
And Brooke is going to look so cute in these finds:
The real deal Thai food.
And the most amazing coconut soup I have ever had.
PS Don’t worry, I am still able to get my diet coke fix here. What a relief, I know you were all concerned.
Have a great ‘whatever day it is for you because this time change has me really confused’ day!
First comment (I’m excited!) – our time zones are officially closer. So glad you are having a great time. Love the outfits for Brooke – with 3 boys I missed out on buying gorgeous girls clothes. Now THAT looks like good Thai food.
Wow – looks like you are having a great time. And what a result getting no jetlag! Enjoy the trip – well deserved. :)
Have a wonderful time, I have always wanted to go there! Perhaps one day! You deserve this wonderful time with friends out there! <3

Ahhh Janae…..I’m living vicariously through you!! I’m so excited you’re in Thailand! It’s my favorite place in the whole world! We went to those same markets, and I ate about 3 mango-sticky rice desserts there. :) I cannot wait to see what all you guys do in Thailand….enjoy all of the food and Thai massages! Live it up, girl! You deserve this amazing adventure.
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
Respect that you manage to share your Thai adventures just-in-time. I really lack on that department and usually it takes me up to two weeks to get through the bunch of pictures I’ve taken while travelling. Thailand is definitely one of the places I would love to visit in the nearer future – look at all the delicious food!
This is the best..I have been looking forward to your trip since you first mentioned it! And there can never be too many food pics. I want a bite of that croissant thing right now!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine
That treadmill view doesn’t look so bad:) Hope you are having a great time!
Waving at you from Hong Kong :-) oof it’s suuuuuper humid here already too. Broke a sweat just walking today and it was in the low 70s! Gotta love subtropical living. Have an amaaaazing trip and can’t wait to read more about it!

Oh my goodness!!!!!
First of all, that is fabulous you were able to sleep for 9 hours!
I am so excited you are able to blog while you are there, please keep it coming if you are able to!
I’m totally ok with the 300 pictures of food thing, I love hearing about food from different countries or any food for that matter!
Finding diet coke in another country, I can relate. Love it!!!
I would love to go to Thailand one day, so I’ love seeing your pictures! Yay for great sleep- I definitely really struggle to sleep well while on vacation.
The pineapple looks amazing and it looks so warm there :)! Love the Brooke finds too :)!
Have so much fun!
Lauren @ Will Run for Boston
My favorite part of traveling is the food too! That market looks so fun!! I can’t even imagine how amazing that pineapple and mango tastes!
Tiffany @ The Chi-Athlete
Oh my gooses, this is fantastic! <3
Leah @ Running with the Hayneses
My brother just moved to Cambodia, and he says his running days are over cause the heat and humidity is just too intense. And he isn’t motivated to go the gym because he sweats so much just going about his normal day that he can’t bear the thought of working out and intentionally sweating some more. :)
Love hearing about all your adventures!!! It’s like a vicarious vacation! :)
This looks amazing! So happy for you and your adventures :)
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun
This looks like an amazing adventure for you! I’m glad you are having a blast – relax and ENJOY!
Glad you had a safe trip and are already having so much fun! ENJOY YOURSELF!
(and WHEW about the Diet Coke LOL)
Have a fantastic time, the smoothies made me jealous!
P.S. Sometimes on longer flights jet lag kicks in days later, for me anyways.
SO cool! Have a blast!!
Kristina @ Blog About Running
Mmm everything looks amazing, especially the croissant!
That stinks that you weren’t able to get too much of an outdoor run in, maybe the humidity will calm down a bit before you leave? Have fun!
That croissant sounds amazing! Have a fabulous time in Thailand!
Those smoothies look amazing. I thought I would add….my two daughters and I found Swedish fish jelly beans, they’re awesome!
My son just arrived in Japan yesterday and I’m all confused with the day/time, too!
That croissant looks amazing!! Have an awesome time!! I hope the humidity improves so you can run outside. :)
So fun! I am super jealous! It’s nice that you have your own personal tour guide too. Is this the first time you’ve travelled out of the country? Enjoy every moment and post a ton so we can live vicariously through you!
It looks like you’re having a blast; traveling is one of my favorite things! :D
Also…I really encourage you to bear the weather outside. When I was training in college, I went on a mission trip to Nepal and spent 6 weeks there. It’s crowded like India and the smells of food, garbage, etc in the air really bothered me at first. But, instead of thinking about pace or how far, just run for time. Turn off your Garmin :) I promise you. You can run anywhere, and it’s a beautiful thing to learn how and challenge yourself :)
Have you noticed that Diet Coke tastes different internationally? When we moved to Abu Dhabi, I switched to Diet Pepsi, because the Diet Coke tasted off and I couldn’t get over it. And here, in England, I’ve noticed that most places serve Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke, so I have to go to the Base to get my fix. Glad to see you are enjoying your time there. We went to Costa Rica in the middle of the summer from Utah and I died in the humidity running too. Have fun!
What an awesome place! And keep the food pictures coming!
Zaneta @ Runner's Luck
Wow! That looks like so much fun!! I got hit with the travel bug this year… nothing big like out of the country but I want to see things here in the US! Like Cali this summer for the blogfest! (Trying to raise money to make that one come true!)
I just don’t want life to pass me by and regret not seeing more of the beautiful things God created! :)
LOVE your finds for Brooke! She’ll definitely look so cute in those!! :) Hope you have a safe trip and have as much fun as possible!! *hugs!*

Thai food! <3 That market sounds like so much fun too! Hope you're having a great time! :)
A friend of mine just returned from teaching in Thailand for a year and a half and his stories almost have me convinced to go and teach for a year. What really convinced me is how cheap it is to travel around to other countries. Now that I am reading all about your trip to Thailand, I think it’s a sign.
Have so much fun!
Looks amazing!!! Enjoy!
Looks like you’re having a great time already!
Love that little pink dress for Brooke, she will be looking so cute in that thing!
Can’t wait to hear more of your travels.
That little kimono (not sure if that’s the right name for it) for Brooke is SO ADORABLE! You have to take a picture of her in it for the blog! Have a great time!
The dress for Brooke = I die, so cute.
Have a great time! Thailand is on my bucket list.
Chatuchak is so fun! Amazing how large it is, I’ve been there lost many times. My parents lived in BKK while I was in college. Be sure to grab some mangoes and sticky rice one night after dinner. And enjoy a tuk tuk ride!
I’m glad you are having a great time over there! Soak up every second of it! :-)
Kay @ goaloflosing.com
Enjoy your time there!
I went to that same market when I was there and I still remember how good the pad thai was! Have some much fun there. Check out their crazy big fancy malls. They are insane.

Oh my goodness, Thailand! I’m so glad you’re having a wonderful time. :) My favorite part of traveling is usually the food, too (oh, and the people, the scenery, the culture…) so bring on the food photos! That beautiful weekend market is getting me excited for when the local farmers’ markets start opening up around here in Washington!
Say “hello” to a monkey and an elephant for me! <3
Glad you’re enjoying your getaway! I would love for you to do a post on what your favorite rain gear is for running :)
I am so jealous about the Thai food sneak some back for me:)

The humidity in Asia is crazy! I couldn’t run outside when I was there either. It was suffocating. That pineapple looks yum!
That fresh fruit looks insane! And now you can say you went running in Thailand–that’s just cool.
Brianna @ I run He tris
Glad you’re having a good time! It’s weird but I don’t have jetlag flying East but when I fly back West it hits me hard!
Don’t move! I’m going to be selfish and say you’ll miss a lot of races and froyo meet ups! lol
Yay for treadmill runs, food, diet coke and that outfit for Brooke is amazing!! So cute! And um, we need that recipe for coconut soup! Can you go ask them please? :) looks like an amazing time already! Keep the posts coming! :)
I love Chatuchak! I lived in Thailand for 2 years and went there about once a month but still probably did not see everything.
Do you know the name of the store where you got that croissant?
You HAVE to try a Mr. Bun. They’re not fancy but so good. Have a great time!
This looks amazing, I’m so jealous! Have so much fun!
Welcome to Thailand! I’m in the Peace Corps here, and WOW is running here hard! But the sunsets and sunrises are worth the sweat :)
Kari @ Running Ricig
I cannot imagine how good the food must be there. I am so jealous!
Ah, but coke light does not taste the same as diet coke….not nearly as good!
