I like nature’s fan best.

Good news—>  spin class didn’t hurt my calves (it did a little bit on Saturday and so I was nervous it would again today).  I did 60 minutes of spinning (part class and part on my own) and the human sized fan saved me from heat exhaustion.  Another reason that I love running outside= the air is constantly moving around you.  I like nature’s fan best.

The picture of the water bottle is meant to represent that I have actually had more water than diet coke today which is a huge step for me.

Brooke had a playdate at the mall.

IMG 8374

I tried to get her to pose with me for a picture of her on the slide but she was too quick and automatically pushed off and wanted to go down.

IMG 8377

The world’s easiest lunch.  Rice, chicken, frozen stir-fry veggies and TJ’s Soyaki sauce.

IMG 8380

And 6 things that I need to tell you about that happened today:

1.  Brooke brought me my cell phone when I was in the shower.  It was very thoughtful of her because it was ringing but I have learned over the years that water and iPhones do not mix well.  How my phone hasn’t exploded from all of the ridiculous things that has happened to it by now..  I do not know.

2.  I was just driving along minding my own business when I got out my banana out of my purse and took a bite.  It was the worst banana in the entire world.  Rotten x 1,000,000.  It is going to be a long time until I am able to eat a banana again.

3.  Today was my last day at the orthodontist.  I graduated.  Brooke is very sad about this because they spoil her every time she is there with balloons, cookies, the fish tank, letting her run around the halls and the iPod touch games.

IMG 8371

4.  Back in the day I used to be quite the journal writer.  And then I started a blog and forced you all to read every thought I have.  I decided to keep making you read my randomness but I am also getting back into journal writing.  Quite therapeutic.  It is always fun to get back into something you love doing.

IMG 8356

5.  These dried apples from a neighbor.  Amazing.

NewImage

6.  Target knows how to snag me in.  These were right by the front door so of course I had to get one to try out.  Making them tonight.  Full review in the morning.  Tune in.

This is totally insane but I’m allergic to most fruit (not bananas or avocados or tropical fruit but all the rest) so dried fruit doesn’t really happen :(

Something random: I need a video of her doing it because it’s the cutest but my puppy won’t sit down to scratch her ear or side like a normal dog, she tries to do it while standing on her other 3 legs. 87% of the time she falls over but she just stands up and does it the wrong way all over again.

Reply

that is really funny Emmeline, you really do need to get a video of that!

Reply

You should know that my left foot and calf were hurting too. So I also took a few days off. Today I ran 5 amazing miles :)
You should also know that I made the Pillsbury brownie cake pops and I could’ve eaten every.single.one. Now I’m going to have to try the ‘lil donuts :)
I do write in a journal, but not very often. You’re right, it is therapeutic, and I should do it more often :)

Reply

I hate bananas that aren’t green..weird, I know. Otherwise they are too mushy for my taste.

I ran 15 miles yesterday! Longest run in three years :) And I have been starving ever since…

I hate the way rotten bananas taste! Yuck
I used to journal a lot and loved going back and reading my old thoughts and prayers. I need to pick it up again.

Reply

I haven’t been one to write journal much since middle school when my mom found mine and used the info in a not nice way :( If you’re ever going to read your kid’s journal, use the info to help you understand the person without letting them know you totally betrayed a trust.

You need to know I did 60 min of cardio AND lifted some weights. You don’t need to know they were very small ;-)

I like dried pears and apricots.

So glad your calves did not hurt!

Reply

Please tell me you bought the vanilla ones… Because those look amazing! Something I really need to tell you today is the snow if falling like crazy today. I mean really it didn’t snow december or january but all of a sudden when Im starting to get excited for spring it snows! Grrr.

Fave dried fruit is pineapple. Tastes like candy I tell ya.

Reply

I added lemon slices to my water today to try and trick myself into drinking more. I’m not a journal writer because I talk about random nonsense on my blog everyday :)

Favourite dried fruit = mangoes.

Reply

Dried pears.

My journals from 2nd grade-7th are awesome. I used to write the weekly top ten songs in my journal. Once I got married, my journaling became non-existent. I think I wrote about moves and babies. That’s about it.

I tried to grocery shop w/o my wallet. Whoops!

Reply

Yes, dried mangoes. Yummy.

I do write in a journal – not much. A random thought and all my training. Probably because I don’t have a blog :) I read once that Oprah said we should write down something we’re thankful for every day. I did that for a while and stopped. Your post reminded me to start doing this again…

Reply

Mmm I love TJ’s Soyaki. And am very much looking forward to your Funfetti donut experience recap!

I am totally a journal writer. I don’t write as regularly now that I blog but I find myself with a lot that I need to work through myself and not broadcast to the world. (Which is ridiculous because I am the queen of the overshare plus no one reads my blog.). I love writing things out and documenting my highs and lows that way. I think in the heart of each dedicated blogger is a journal writer.

Reply

I’m a big journal writer. I have an entry for everyday since 2006. It’s fun to look back on. It’s amazing to see how much you’ve grown.

That reminds me, sometime you should post your handwriting! I always think it’s interesting to see what people’s handwriting looks like

Rotten banana, I think you ruined bananas for me lol

Something to tell – I am slowly transitioning to trail runs. They are easy on my knees and I love the technical parts where you have to hit rocks and flat areas. This may become a new running desire!
Journal Writer – Did when my son was born, never did it again, i know lame.
Dried Fruit – apples all the way

I’m a journaler as well – blogs are awesome, but there is something about pen and paper that is awesome :)

Reply

Journalling is soooo therapeutic! Love it! Love the dinner that is seriously my favorite type of dinner!

Reply

I love dried apples! I have a 5 year daily journal that I have used since last year to write down 2-3 sentences about my day. it’s awesome to go back and see what I was doing on this day last year! I can’t wait to keep filling it and be able to look back at 5 years worth of days :)

Reply

I just did a track session and for the first time I actually enjoyed it and didn’t want to die half-way through. It’s a small thing but considering I sobbed the whole way home after my session last week, it’s a big step for me.

Favourite fried fruit?? Banana… Or mango… Just any dried fruit really, it’s a massive part of my diet nowadays!

Reply

Dried apples for the win!

Funfetti!! I’m such a sucker for those treats.

Guess what I ate yesterday: an apple fritter. It was delicious.

Reply

I used to be bad about journaling but I turned it into more of a prayer journal and now I love having some quiet time in the morning

Reply

I love dehydrating fruit! My favorite is bananas sprinkled with cinnamon. Apples and strawberries are really good too. Great way to use produce when it starts to go bad.

Reply

I started a journal during my first pregnancy, but I think I stopped well before my son was born. I guess should be pleased that my blog is over a year old and still going strong!

Reply

Dried apples, bananas, and apricots. I love dried fruit. I think it’s better than fresh. Which I kind of feel guilty about for some reason.

I am a journal writer about five times a year. Does that count? ;)

Reply

I don’t love dried fruit except for maybe raisins. I hope you had another snack in your bag besides the banana! Nothing worse than eating something that tastes bad and then having nothing else with you to eat!

Reply

I purchased my tickets to Boston for the marathon today!

Reply

That makes me really sad about your fall-out with bananas. Do you really want to live in a world with bananas smeared with pb?

Reply

I’ve been over dosing on dried bananas lately. They’re amazing, and convenient in the middle of a long run to use as fuel! I just slice them up and put them in my dehydrator for 24 hours. When you reconcile with bananas, you should totally try it ;)

Reply

The random: The strawberry festival starts on thursday and I am going to skip work on Friday to go stuff my face with all the strawberries I can find.
I do write in my journal but not as often as I’d like, lately I write about strawberries, :)
I hate dried fruit of any variety, it’s just wrong.

Reply

I used to be so good about keeping a journal, but my blog is starting to take over. I need to get back to writing in my journal though :) I don’t really like dried fruit, or at least not the ones that I have tried. Brooke is as cute as ever!

Reply

Something you need to know- no workout today because of doctor’s orders. I need to take 2 days completely off. I am upset about it, but I know that one week of rest is not the end of the world.

I just got a dehydrator and have been throwing all kinds of things in there! Apples have been delicious- but I did a sweet potato the other day and it came out super yummy and crispy and crunchy. mmmm. I inhaled it.

Can’t wait to see how he donuts turn out!

My dad has just had a metal frame removed from his leg. His Tibia had a disease and so 6cms had to be removed and the frame attached which held metal pins which were drilled into the bone. There was a lever on the frame which was routinely twisted and caused bone growth. The consultant warned him that all carbonated drinks esp cola were completely off the menu for the duration of the process ( he had it on for 15 months) because they contain phosphoric acid which depletes the bones of minerals and also caffeine which depletes calcium levels.. I am a diet coke addict but have cut down and am determined to be rid of the habit over the next couple of months!

Reply

I am more curious than I’d care to admit about those donut holes. . .

Reply

I think you might like to know that this week is Eating Disorder awareness week!

I journal every single night. I have since my 13th birthday when I got it. I’ve only missed a handful of days! It really is good therapy. I’m excited to go back in years and read what I wrote!

Reply

I ran today and didn’t have much pain!! That’s the best thing about today so far.

Reply

i hope the cake pops work for you! i love funfetti and tried making them two weekends ago and failed miserable. it has just left me wanting cake!

Reply

I have never been a journal writer, but love blogging. I also don’t like dried fruit, I think it’s the texture that gets me.

Random: My dogs are having their teeth cleaned tomorrow and I am oddly anxious about it because they do it under anesthesia. As a nurse, I think only someone in healthcare would worry about their dogs and the side effect anesthesia has on them like I do :)

Reply

My pup had his teeth cleaned last month under anesthesia. It took him 36 hours to recover, I felt bad so I don’t think I’ll do it again. Not sure how big your dogs are, mine is 13lbs so I do wonder if they gave him too much anesthesia. Just pamper them when they get home :-)

Reply

Those donut mixes look way too intriguing ;) I graduated from the orthodontist in 7th grade and they told me they’d call me back in a year for a follow up appointment… never happened. And I never complained!

Reply

Ooooh, I can’t wait to hear about the Funfetti donuts! :)

Reply

I’m at the point in my half training schedule where I have to eat every half hour or I start to get nauseous from hunger. I can’t keep up with my metabolism!

I used to journal all the time, but I haven’t in over a year now.

Apricots are the best dried fruit! And pineapple!

Reply

Did you get that blanket at Costco? I think I have the same one. I call it my sheep blanket:)

Reply

I ate a giant post race apple fritter last night, I thought you would appreciate it.

Reply

I have made those donut holes before. My four year old has egg, dairy, tree nut and peanut allergies and these are safe. It is a donut she can eat plus help bake.

Reply

i love dried apples and coconut! those homemade ones look good! i never thought to make them, but seems simple enough in theory!

Reply

I love dried pineapple! I can’t buy it due to my lack of self control around it!

Reply

I am not a journal writer but surprisingly love to blog! Who knows….I Just am so busy sometimes I don’t have time to keep up with both :)

Hope it helps and is therapeutic to you! Hope your calf feels better soon!!

Reply

I love journal writing. It is so therapeutic and I really love reading old entries so I can see how far I’ve come out of certain trials I’ve had. On my mission I only missed one day of writing in my journal. I’ve been slacking lately but I always feel the pull to write.

Reply

I burnt my finger on my good hand :( Blister and all, no bueno!
I had my journal read when I was in middle school and I haven’t written in one since. Sad day.
Dried kiwi is pretty awesome!

Reply

Today my friend told me she’s going to run her first marathon and we talked about running for like an hour!! Love that.

Favorite dried fruit is mango :)))

I wrote in a journal for YEARS!! Grades 6-12 are very well documented. It’s so fun to go back and read them. I stopped when I realized that I only wrote in them when I was sad or mad, so they became a documentation of bad times…not cool. So I stopped..

Reply

Not a journal writer….reading my own writing makes me cringe! I’m a decent writer too but oh well. Love dried cherries!!

Reply

After being a runner for a few years I invested in compression leg sleeves!!!!!! Why did I wait so long?!!!!?

Reply

Today was such a rough day, and I’m so glad to be at home, reading and writing right now. Please wish me a better day tomorrow! I am a journal writer when I’m feeling particularly anxious. I have been bad about it lately, but there are only 24 hours in a day, right? And my favorite dried fruit is mango. I ate like so much of it from the bulk section in Whole Foods that my stomach was hurting. Oops!

Reply

Cheri, I just noticed your comment. I hope tomorrow is a good day for you. Rough days suck.

Reply

I have a non-public blog that I consider my journal.

I am currently watching the train wreck called the bachelor and I somehow wouldn’t have my monday night any other way.

Reply

The only exciting thing about my day today is I’m going out for a Chinese dinner. So far a lovely quiet, happy day for me.
Dried Figs.
Used to write in a journal when I was a teenager and now I use my blog as my journal.

Reply

Maybe dried cherries? I like them all – nature’s candy!

I know I’m late to the game, but I watched Extreme Couponing for the first time and thought it was amazing!

Reply

Um, dried plantains from whole foods are good. I also started oil pulling…look that up bc it’s cray cray!

Reply

Right now, I am trying to resist the package of double stuff Oreos in the kitchen. But they are all I can think about!

Reply

so sorry to hear about your banana that sounds traumatizing.
But my favorite dried fruit is bananas… and not banana chips I justt discovered dried bananas they are amazing (but look ugly very ugly) and I never knew they even existed until yesterday

Reply

OMG I cannot wait to hear how the Lil’ Donuts turn out! They sound amazing. It is dangerous for me to go to Target because I just want to buy a lot of stuff. I share the love.

I wanted to tell you: So random (and hopefully not weird) that I had a dream that we hung out. I guess that means I read your blog A LOT!!!

Reply

I don’t know if I can pick just one dried fruit as my favorite. Cherries, strawberries & pineapples are at the top of my very long list. Yum!

Reply

I love your blog, so happy to have found you. You are a little piece of happiness.

Reply

Random it’s my bday tomorrow and I was planning to hang out with my two year old during the day but my sons teacher was sick so called me to sub so I get to hang out with my 5 year old and twenty others tomorrow. I am beyond blessed and feeling grateful. Pizza party tomorrow night with my hubs and 3 kids and cold stone cupcakes!
I really need to journal or start a blog. And 38 is gonna be great!

Reply

I’m guilty of the Diet Coke addiction too. I think I might bleed DC. I’ve decided to limit myself to 2 cans a day in an effort to drink more water. This of course is a huge improvement over having my husband bring me my first DC of the day before I got out of bed!!!

Reply

Dried mangos all the way ;)

Reply

Trying to get back into journal writing myself.
We made those donut balls before- DELICIOUS! The boys loved them!

Reply

I love journal writing. It is helping me more than ever now as I am going through some hardships.

I made those donuts the other day!!! However, they were not so pretty looking. Tasty but not perfect round donut holes.

Reply

Funfetti donuts?! What the what. I must try those!

Reply

Dried cherries are SO good. And SO expensive, ha! I kept a journal when I was a kid, but stopped sometime in my teens. When I look back at it, all I can do is marvel that my handwriting used to be so legible.

Reply

I’ve tried to journal, but I just can’t get into it. I think I’d rather read than write. Maybe I’m just lazy.

Reply

Dried mango is my absolute favorite! and now I want donut holes!

Reply

I love dried cherries and dried apricots so much but I can’t eat them often as they cause some digestive issues. it’s sad though because I love them so much. I often mix dried cherries, almonds and dark chocolate as a little snack.

Reply

stir fry dishes are the best! I love to mix quinoa, frozen veggies, and some chopped up chicken with curry sauce!

Reply

I have been feeling like I need to get back into journal writing too! it’s like you read my mind! :)

Reply

I love spicy dried mangos from Trader Joe’s (official name escapes me at the moment).

Reply

that target… it’s just so crafty!

Reply

Eww, a bad banana is really so gross. Sorry you had to go through that!!

Reply

Ok I am two days late on commenting but here we go.

The one thing I feel like I need to tell you about today (two days late :P) is…I got engaged. I havent told my family yet and it feels so good to get that off my chest…
I am not good at keeping secrets and the only way I have kept my mouth shut is by watching The Big Bang Theory and eating huge amounts of Strawberry Cheesecake icecream!

My favorite dried fruit would probably be oranges…or mango slices. YUM!

Reply

Dried mango is so wonderful!
