8 highlights from my Valentine’s Day.

1.  This wasn’t a highlight but let’s just pretend it was.  Training is getting more intense = I really need to be proactive about any muscles that are bothering me = torture.   Deep tissue massage on crazy tight muscles, not my favorite thing to do.   I almost cried multiple times.

The is the little blue tool that I have nightmares about because it hurts so badly.  Somehow it solves all of my muscle problems so I guess I should learn to love it.

2.  Watching a V-day episode of The Office.  It has been way too long since I have watched one of my favorite shows.

3.  We decided yesterday to buy a bunch of candy to give to random strangers.

We went to BYU campus with the kiddos and they gave a piece of chocolate to the people in the halls.  My niece would give them the candy and then give them a hug and tell them happy Valentine’s Day.  I would listen to what the people would say afterwards and I kept hearing things like, ‘I really needed that.’  It made my heart happy.  These kiddos sure know how to brighten people’s days.

4.  Pizza, salad, garlic bread and chicken noodle soup with the family.  I used to work at this restaurant 7 years ago and my old boss was there and it was really fun to catch up on everything.

5.  My Valentine held my hand during dinner.

6.  Her outfit.

7.  The crazy dance party we had.

8.  The chocolate covered cinnamon bears that my mom gave me.  Brooke tried to steal them multiple times throughout the day.

Awe that looks like such a fun time Janae. I’m glad you had a great Valetines day. I am loving those yellow footie PJs.

My Valetines Day was okay…just spent traveling down to Virginia to do a road race tomorrow. I hope to finally get a good base line to see what I should aim for this Spring (half marathon speaking).

My hamstrings have been super tight, and I gave my 5 year old daughter a rolling pin and told her to roll my leg. She put all her body weight on that thing and I seriously almost cried. When she was done I thought she bruised my leg. Woke up this morning and all better. You can borrow her.

PS. Your Vakentines Day looked fun!

That was so sweet of you guys to go to campus and hand out candy and hugs. I think it’s great to teach kids about kindness and service at an early age. I’d count a deep tissue massage as a highlight because of how good you feel when they’re done. I’m scheduling mine for next week and I can’t wait. I had a few Rolos yesterday, but that’s it for chocolate.

I’m glad you had a good day! What a sweet idea for the kids to do!! In that last picture I just imagine Brooke saying “Don’t worry about me Mom, I’ll just be over here….eating….” Haha :)

Fun day! Yesterday the best chocolate thing I ate was a gooey chocolate chip cookie sandwich with frosting in the middle from nestle toll house. Then I dreamt about it haha :)

Love it! Curly’s outfit is adorable. I lived in a leotard for (what seems like) the first 6 years of my life. I always dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer, ice skater, or gymnast. I feel blessed that I could run though! Now I am just praying I can get healthy to run again!

Janae, I just have to ask…what kind of nail polish is that? I love it on your nails.

Best part of my valentines day was before going to bed we ended up talking for like 2 hours, just laughing, joking etc. It was just like we newly dating and you sacrifice sleep to keep hanging out.

Had a chocolate frosted donut yesterday.

What a fun Valentine’s day! It was pretty low-key here…. no chocolate. Oh, the horror! But we did make mini strawberry shortcakes. Have a great weekend!

It was my elder sons birthday yesterday . He was 13. That was my highlight plus the curry we had at night at our favourite indian restaurant. I had chicken tikka massala, pilau rice, peshwari naan, poppadums and chutney.

I ate a Cadbury creme egg and a slice of chocolate Guinness cake that I made for the birthday boy and chocolate cookies at work.

Ran 9 miles Thursday so I’m always ravenous the next day .

It was my sisters birthday Tuesday and her sons birthday Wednesday.

What a fun idea to pass out candy!

The highlight of Valentine’s Day was a patient brought me a rose at work. Because, as he told me, every woman should receive a rose on Valentine’s Day. So sweet!

I had all sorts of chocolate yesterday! Chocolate covered cherries, chocolate cremes, chocolate hearts and a white chocolate mocha at Starbucks. Yum!

Reply

Love how y’all handed out candy to strangers! So cute!

I had to work at the hospital all day but we had so much candy and baked goodies that I can’t complain. My favorites were probably some cupcakes with homemade pink cream cheese icing and sprinkles.

I eat chocolate at least once a day. There I said it. Now maybe I should find a 12 step program so that I can stop…or not.

Reply

I love the pictures from your Valentines day! Looks like it turned out to be a fun day. The highlight of my day was getting the day off because of a snowstorm we had on Thursday, but it actually turned out to be warm out so I got my long run (16 miles) done! I had chocolate chip cookies yesterday, so I guess that counts as chocolate?

Reply

Looks like you had such a great day with family!! That massage looks like torture!! yikes! But if it works it works!! ;)
I miss the office so much!! ugh!
my highlight? idk… i was on the couch sick all day lol… kinda sucked… anyways… hope you have a great weekend!!
BTW, curly’s outfit looks like some of my outfits! ;)

Reply

I love that you handed out chocolate to people – what a great thing to teach your nieces and nephews! I had so much chocolate yesterday, my coworkers and I were joking it’s actually called National Chocolate Day and not Valentine’s Day haha

Reply

I love that you handed out chocolate! What a way to bring a smile to peoples faces :) I made supper for my husband and made brownie pops (like cake pops, but with brownies and NO nuts ;)) I also bought Cold Stone Creamery cupcakes…best.cupcakes.ever. The cupcake liner was chocolate, not paper. It was lined with fudge, cake on the bottom, sweet cream ice cream and frosting. Ahhhhmazing…There are 6 of them, and 2 of us ;)

Reply

Highlight- finally feeling better after being sick for 3 days. Then I was able to eat my see’s candy I got for Valentines Day. Then my hubby made ribs and grilled asparagus. So yummy.
Looks like your Valentines Day was a good one. (Minus the scraping)
Hugs to u!

Great pictures! What a sweet gesture. My valentine’s day was spent watching house of cards, picking up tons of food at Costco, and studying for teacher certification exams! Can’t wait to get these over with. You’re such an inspiration and fit so much into every day!

I HAVE to ask. Where did you get that awesome turquoise top in your first pic? I’m always hunting for workout gear in bright colors, and pink is getting TOO much for my wardrobe

Reply

You guys are so cute – doing loving things for others! I know this was probably a hard day for you – but what always makes me feel better is doing something nice for other people. What a darling idea and I hope it gave your spirits a lift, too!

Reply

We snuggled up by the fire and watched “The Vow”. It was so nice and cozy. Perfect way to relax on Valentine’s Day.

Reply

Mmmmm. Chocolate covered cinnamon bears. That Brooke is smart. I would have been trying to steal them from you all day too ;)

I had chocolate in yogurtland form. Ross and I went to dinner at pita pit (I really wanted a falafel pita and didn’t want to wait at a nice restaurant) and then yogurtland and then ran errands. I know. We are so romantical.

I love the picture of Josse massaging you. You can see the joy/evil in her eyes :)

Curly’s outfit is my most favorite. Such style.

Reply

That picture of Brooke in her boots and bun is killing me! She is beyond cute and stylish just like her mom! I ate chocolate donuts from Krispy Kreme and it was delicious! I’ve decide for a girls night we need to go to Pita Pit and Yogurtland :) sounds great!! And yes the picture of Josse massaging you is awesome! :0 xoxo

That sounds like a fantastic Valentine’s Day. You’ve got some pretty cool little kiddos in your life!

The highlight of my day was setting off FIREWORKS! Haha, best date ever! I’m eating my heart shaped box full of chocolates for breakfast.

Reply

My V-day highlight was getting a dozen red roses. I can’t tell you when I last got flowers from my husband. Do you think he could be reading my blog? Nah.. We also made a heart shaped cheese pizza for the kids. Who doesn’t love pizza!

Glad you had a good Valentine’s day with your family and daughter. I love your idea of giving out candy to kids/people you don’t know. What a great way to make someones day. Wish I would have thought of that too.. guess there is always next year! I’m so going to have my kids take candy to middle school and H.S. next year and do this very same thing!

I had a chocolate feast yesterday. Heart shaped peanut-butter cup, chocolate ice cream, some After eight mints and a chocolate chip cookie. I want a re-do so I can eat all this good chocolate today too! Might just have to indulge!

Reply

I really love the fact that the crazy dance party involved a toy shopping cart lol

Reply

Highlights from valentines day: Watching Noelle Pikus-Pace celebrate with her family after winning her medal (brought me to tears), reading a sweet valentines note one of my boys wrote for his younger brother and going to bed at a reasonable hour and realizing I like sleeping more than romance.

I LOVE that the kids gave candy and hugs! What a wonderful thing to do!

Reply

What an awesome Valentine’s Day! I’m kicking myself for not thinking of watching the Valentine’s Day Office… it’s such a great episode!

Reply

We had pizza too! It was definitely a highlight!

Reply

I ate a large handful of chocolate chips! My favorite part of Valentine’s Day was talking to my Dad:)

Reply

My valentine was my little man. Our first year together : )
Yes, of course I had chocolate…always do…it’s a daily occurrence around here.

Reply

Our scavenger hunt was a huge hit with the kiddos and I had a single mini Twix. It was yummy! V-day success!

Reply

My highlight was the dinner my boyfriend made, and drinks with friends. Sadly, its just a snowstorm here again today. I’m so over it.

Reply

3 and 5 made me cry so sweet!
Did my first 15k today a hilly cal poly slo campus think I finished in 1:21 not sure exact time. Was a blast and motivated me to start training again for half marathon! Oh yes and my boys valentines candy did the trick for fuel.

Reply

Looks like a great V-day!

My valentine’s day involved a much needed leg massage as well and heart-shaped pizza!!!!

I had an ART massage also. My calves needed it! Is she doing graston technique with that blue thingy?

I ate loooots of chocolate yesterday! On a donut, in a cookie, and just plain. That is SO sweet what your nieces did!

Curly looks like she should be in a Dr. Seuss movie playing little Cindy Loo….adorbs!!

Reply

Aww such a fun day!! I bought some discount Valentine’s chocolate (Dove chocolate with hazelnuts) today at Target to keep the celebrations going, haha.

Reply

Where do you usually buy Brookes clothes from? She always looks so stinking adorable! Im going to be an aunt for the first time in just a few wks so I need to know where I should be shopping ;)

Reply

Brooke looks so cute carrying the gummy bears.
I had chocolate, a Chocolate torte. It is so rich. I don’t usually like to drink milk, but it was needed in order to digest the yummy chocolate dessert.

Reply

Your pain tolerance looks much better then mine. I am currently obsessed with the tiger stick and I love rolling my thighs out. It has made a huge difference. The highlight of my Valentine’s was spending a quiet night with my family.

Reply

highlight = giving my husband his gift finally….tickets to see Jane’s Addiction in Vegas!

Reply

I love that you and the girls gave out free candy and hugs. Sweetest thing ever!
You’re killing me with the scraping pictures. I hurt just looking at them.

Reply

Brooke has such a mischievous look on her face with those chocolates…or guilt, I can’t tell, lol. She’s so adorable! The closest thing I had to chocolate was one of those cookie dough doughnuts from Dunkins…but I was naughty ALL DAY LONG when it comes to food. I have no regrets, though!

Reply

I definitely ate some kind of chocolate, I can’t remember what though…! Lately I like chocolate flavoured things but not chocolate by itself, just another weird pregnancy thing I guess.

My highlight was tigerlilies from my boyfriend, they weren’t valentines flowers though but exam-flowers (I’m doing my last set of exams ever this semester). We usually go all out for birthdays rather than V-day.

That’s so sweet of the kiddos to give out chocolates and hugs. I think V-day isn’t always an easy holiday if you feel like everyone is loved up except you. I’ve no doubt they brightened peoples day!

Reply

What a great idea for Valentine’s Day! And to share one of my favorite points which is Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be just for people in love, it can be to tell anyone to have a great day and hello…chocolate.

Reply

OMGoodness! Brooke is getting so big! Your family sounds like so much fun! Also, what a great idea for Valentines! Hope you & yours are having a happy weekend!

ps. I use exclamation points way too often. Sorry about that.

Janae! Where did you get your long sleeved top? the color is sooo pretty!! Thank you :)

Now I really feel like I need to go back and watch episodes of the Office.

How cute is your family? That’s a really sweet way to spend Valentine’s day.

The highlight of my valentine’s was getting to go out to eat and have a great time with Mike and not fall asleep before 8pm.
