What I am saving up for and a race to come run.

I woke up bright and early to go meet the girls for our Saturday long run but my stomach felt crazy.  Solution = go back to bed for a few hours and wake up feeling a million times better.

First solo run in a long time that I really enjoyed.  Just me, Regina Spektor on my iPod, lots of time to reflect and the gorgeous scenery for 10 miles.

I had a gift card for a facial at a salon and then they had me go into the sauna.  Time to save up for my own personal sauna to use after all of these winter runs when I come home frozen.

I probably stayed in for too long.

IMG 6380

Two part dinner.  Spinach salad and then one of my favorite sandwiches… what makes it one of my favorites you may ask?  They spread the whole thing with cream cheese.

IMG 6378

After dinner my friends made a dessert pizza that they had when they were in Brazil.  Pizza, mozzarella cheese (I know, I thought it was weird too), strawberries, chocolate/white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk.  Result=  winner.  I really was very skeptical about this thing at first but it was delicious.

The only retail therapy I did while Brooke was away was for her.  Those yellow flats may actually be too cute on her.

UTAH PEOPLE!! Come run this race with me!  It is going to be a real good time.  All of the info is HERE!!!!

Your tasks for today are to either sleep in or take a nap and to eat a really good breakfast.  You’re welcome.

I’d love to sleep-in… but.. off to work with my running shoes packed for an afternoon run!! Have a wonderful Sunday!

So you wear a certain color depending on your relationship status???? Hmmm…will you wear a specific color according to their code? I think I would wear a mix of all 3 colors and keep every one guessing. ;-)

I cannot sleep in for the life of me. 8am is about as late as it gets, sadly. I’ve had a chocolate pizza at Max Brenner’s before and I didn’t like the pizza crust with sweet toppings. It would be better with a cookie dough crust. Enjoy your reunion with Brooke today!

Reply

Ok I think I like the idea of cookie dough for the crust (I’m leaning towards sugar cookie myself) for this pizza way more than pizza dough! Totally want to try this!

That sounds like such a fun race. I am in love with dress up/costume races based on Holidays. Considering my next goal race is a Valentines race followed by a St. Patricks Day race…well you get the idea.

I’m glad the extra rest did you well and you enjoyed the alone run. I wish I had as many friends to run with as you do. I mean I count Nicki Minaj and Kesha since their songs accompany me…but I don’t think they feel they are my running friends…

I need those shoes for my daughter!! Where did you get them from?!?
Too cute!
My foot has been killing me for the last few weeks now so I took a nice break from
Running but I’m going for a long run today. I’m hoping for 12 miles so wish me luck.
That pizza looks interesting. I don’t know if I would be brave enough to experiment like that.
This morning I slept in (8am) but for having a 1 year old, that’s super late. :) now I’m
Going to make us a killer breakfast!
Happy Sunday!!!

Be careful with your foot. Foot injuries can be a pain!

Breakfast 1 is half done. Simple and sweet before a morning swim, since running seems to be fading into chlorine lately.

Breakfast 2 will be post swim and still needs to be determined.

Of course, since all good things come in 3s, I’ll need to find a Breakfast 3, but I’m not sure I have any desire to swim that far today!

Reply

I’ve never been in a sauna but that sounds amazing these days with how cold it is! Also, dessert pizza is always a winner in my book. :)

Reply

Ok I’m a massive fan of pizza but that just looks sketchy to me. I will have to trust you that it was delicious ;)

I’m making my favorite avocado goodness for breakfast so yay!

Reply

I can definitely handle those tasks today! :) I slept in and now my hubb is making waffles for breakfast! :)

Reply

I would love to save for weekly facials. That would be amazing!

Also, target sells their Archer Farms dessert pizzas in the frozen section. They are really good too.

Happy Sunday!! :)

Reply

Yes ma’am, I will follow those orders.
Can I change it to sleep in AND take a nap?

Reply

Yes you may:)

Reply

Check :) I hope they give out chocolate as your race favor at that race! Enjoy your Sunday!!!

The name of the run is so cute! Have fun!

After years of reading blogs, I’ve learned not to raise an eyebrow at any sort of strange food combination… That pizza actually sounds pretty epic. And those clothes you picked up for Brooke are just too cute. I can’t think about adorable yellow flats given the fact that it’s freezing out here, but that hat — I need one in my size :D

Reply

What a fun race concept!
I’m not sure about that pizza. It looks good, but I’m leary…
I want Brooke’s sweater and shoes in my size!

Reply

That 5K sounds cool! I wish we had something like that here!!!!!

Reply

I have a lot of cleaning on my agenda today! We have a snow storm coming and I need to actually get our Christmas tree out to the trash before it starts or I know it isn’t going to happen for several more days! I am taking a rest day today but the husband is off running….Have a great Sunday!

Reply

I think I’d be skeptical about the dessert pizza too, but I’ll take your word for it. ;)

That 5k sounds super fun!

I did sleep in today and it felt awesome :)

Reply

omg WHY do I not live in Utah?!? I so want to go to the race!

Reply

I’m in LOVE with that sweater you got Brook!!!

Reply

Thanks for the achievable goals for the day! :) I already slept in and am watching Tangled and drinking coffee while I decide what to have for breakfast.

Reply

That race looks so fun, and I can’t wait to see Brooke in those yellow shoes. Countdown is on until you get her, right?! That pizza sounds pretty different, but anythings worth a short, right? I slept in until 9! Pretty unheard of for me :)

Reply

That race looks awesome! I think you should find some yellow flats so you can be twinsies!

Reply

The pizza does look interesting… not sure about the mozzarella!

Reply

I woke up early to go for a trail run. I will definitely finish the task of taking a nap once I finish church :)

Reply

Here in MN, saunas in homes is pretty common! They are nice!

Ummmm…. There’s no way in Hades I would eat that pizza. I don’t like plain mozzarella cheese, and I assume that those are semi sweet chocolate chips… Which I don’t like either. :)

Reply

That dessert pizza does sound a bit strange with the mozza — but I’d still try it :)

Reply

That race is too cute!! Love that idea!

Reply

Ohhh that 5k sounds like so much fun! Love the sweater and flats you got Brooke – she’s always stylin’!

Reply

Well I slept in until 7:30…does that count? My parent’s house in northern MN has a sauna and it is so nice after a winter run or ski!

Reply

I actually got up this morning and made breakfast. It was scrambled eggs, bacon and English muffins. :)

Reply

The pizza looks great~ I love dessert pizza’s!

I am having a big breakfast today, we try to every Sunday :)

It’s awesome that you have pretty scenery to run- that’s why I love my trail. Tuesday I officially start half-marathon training…so excited!!

Reply

I slept in AND I finally got my grain free chocolate peanut butter pancake to work as a pancake instead of giving up and making it a scramble:-)

Reply

I certainly slept in this morning. I’ve been off work for 2 weeks. Getting up tomorrow is going to be tough!! Mozzarella cheese and chocolate chips sounds just weird enough to be delicious. Sign me up!

Reply

I would be skeptical about that pizza too (it’s the cheese part). I definitely slept in today and I also plan to eat a good breakfast :)

Reply

I guess I took your advice without even knowing it… I slept until 8:30 this morning!

I love Brooke’s new yellow flats! I want a pair, too!

Reply

My breakfast was stellar. Started with a waffle and then decided to reheat some leftover Chinese food. :)

Reply

I’m an overachiever since I slept in and had an amazing breakfast (leftover baked French toast from my New Years brunch). Those close for Brooke are too cute! Have a great day!

Reply

I’m soooo signing up for that race! Looks like fun! Plus, when a race starts near kneaders, you know it’s going to be good. ;-)

Reply

Brooke’s flats are so cute! (I kinda want a pair in my size! ;)

Reply

Oh gosh I can’t wait to see pictures of Brooke in those yellow flats! SO cute! Girl, I need a sauna AND a steam room in my dream house basement! I’ve already priced them out! haha They are both so healthy for you too, so in reality, they could be considered a NECESSITY. Just sayin’!

Reply

hahaha…love the dress code for the race :)

Reply

It’s 8:30 and I’m still under the covers. Is this late enough? People in my family are starting to get cranky at me.

Reply

Those yellow flats… I just… can’t even. Glad you ended up with a good run. Regina Spektor is amazing!

And I have already eaten a giant waffle with almond butter and strawberries and an iced coffee before church, so my Sunday morning has already been pretty great! :-)

Reply

I’ll have an awesome breakfast. Had to get up early to run because it’s going to be 80 here today and its too hot to run later in the day.

Reply

I was able to sleep in because church was cancelled due to the extreme cold! Yeah.
That pizza looks veeerrrry interesting. Love the flats and that you get to see Brooke so soon!

Reply

What a fun 5k! I wish there as one of those around here. I’ve never been big into Valentine’s Day anyways, but I’m kind of dreading this one.

Those shoes are beyond adorable. Shopping for kids is the best. My son has way too many shoes and clothes, but I just can’t resist.

Reply

A Valentine’s day race sounds fun!
And I did eat a good breakfast…I didn’t sleep in all that much, but I’m cool with taking a nap later ;-)

Reply

Hi Janae! Long time reader, first time commenter!

That picture of your 10 miler looks gorgeous. It’s got to make it easier to be running that long when you have that as a backdrop.

Can’t wait to see Brooke in those adorable new clothes!

By the way, I’m halfway through “Tell the Wolves I’m Home” and I can’t put it down.

Reply

Thank you so much!!!! I am so happy you are loving the book! Have an amazing Sunday!

Reply

8 mile run done. Chocolate frosted donut from Top Pot for breakfast! Getting ready for football.

Reply

Those flats are adorable and I LOVE the idea of a Valentine’s Race :) I hope one day to have a little girl I can doll up in cute clothes (especially headbands)! Not that boys aren’t fun; my son just can’t wear yellow flats… haha.

We don’t have any around here, but it’s never too late to start one ;)

Reply

I am so happy you got a run in:) sometimes solo runs are the best because you can do what ever you want and stop and smell the roses.

Reply

Done and done! Slept in and ate a wonderful breakfast of eggs, veggies, toast and banana. Happy Sunday! :)

Reply

I definitely slept in this morning because I don’t have church until 1:30. It felt great! The clothes you bought for Brooke are adorable! That Valentine’s race looks like so much fun, but considering it is one day after my due date, I probably won’t be running it haha

Reply

I slept in until 9:15! It was glorious- but not helpful, since I fly back to college tonight and haven’t packed AT ALL. Oops ;) Those yellow flats are so adorable!

Reply

What a cute race!!! I want to do it!!!!!

Reply

Hmmm mozzerella cheese on dessert pizza?! I’ll have to give that a whirl, I suppose… I LOVE the little sweater you picked out for Brooke! SO cute!! :) That run sounds fun, too!

xo

Reply

I slept in thanks to my late night Breaking Bad binge…yes I know I’m like five years behind. Trying to drag myself to the gym soon…five miles on the treadmill does not sound fun but neither is the freezing rain and sleet going on in NYC right now!

Aww! ADORABLE shoes for Brooke! My sister actually has shoes similar to those, but their peep toes… :)

Reply

That pizza looks…. interesting… I don’t know if I would be brave enough to ever attempt to eat it. Glad you enjoyed your run!

Reply

haha I love the dress code for that race. Too funny!

Reply

that pizza actually sounds crazy good. Salty & Sweet w/mozzarella! Yes please ;)

Reply

Ugh, I didn’t do either of those tasks today. Breakfast was a piece of toast and a banana….and I forgot to do something at work so I’m in my office and not napping.

I wish they had a valentine’s day run around Boston like that one in Utah. Pretty spiffy.

Reply

I slept in until 9 and made pumpkin pancakes for breakfast! Thanks for the tasks :) :) This sounds like the coolest 5k ever!!

Reply

i love all the toppings on your dessert pizza so i’m sure its delish!! I also think i’m going to copy you and do pancake sundays.

ps. where did you get Brooke’s new sweater? It’s too cute and I think I need it for my one year old!

Reply

Woke up at noon! Yep. Now I’m planning a 7 mile run without a stupid inversion in slc. Winning!
My mom made a cold pizza with cream cheese and veggies when I was little and it was amazing. I bet that dessert pizza is delicious!

Reply

That looks like Heaven! A solo run, spa day and that pizza! U r blessed.
I slept in til 9am my husband made a big breakfast for me and our 3 kiddos and I’m not running today. Tomorrow my boys go back to school so I won’t be able to sleep in for a long time.
Enjoy your reunion with your princess!

Those shoes are so cute!
I slept in today, until like 7:30 (which is pretty late for me!).

Reply

I sort of want that sweater you bought for Brooke in my size. It’s SO cute!

Reply

Didn’t sleep in, but I did have an awesome bagel with cream cheese and Lox for breakfast after my run, so that counts!

Love the retail therapy for Brooke, I’m sure she will rock them all!

Reply

Janae! I’m on a flight right now in Illinois that I’m pretty sure is being flown by your brother! I feel like a stalker but I was so excited when I saw him!

Reply

I actually slept in until 8 this morning (go me!!) and had nutella and banana stuffed French toast for breakfast! It was a great start to the day!

Reply

I had the most amazing chocolate pizza when I was in Brazil and everyone I explain it to thinks it sounds gross. It was sooo good though!
What a fun 5K race!!

Reply

I wish I lived closer, because I would definitely com out and run a race with you. Well, it would actually just be that we would run the same race, cause you would finish way before me.

Reply

I slept in way late (too late to share :) ) and spent the day doing errands.

Reply

Wish I could teleport there and run the race with ya! My brother and I used to eat cream cheese straight up with a spoon. ‘Tis the best! Oh and I saw a personal sized sauna at Homegoods the other day. Shoulda gotten it for you.

Reply

If I lived in Utah I would so do that race with you and would so enjoy running your beautiful state!
I took a nap :)

Reply

That pizza looks AMAZING. I will be trying that asap (well, once the Chicago freeze is over and we can leave our apartment for the grocery store)!

Reply

I always wish I were able to sleep later on the weekens but my bodies alarm clock is 7am! I have a feeling after the marathon this wknd I’ll have no problem getting extra sleep :)

Dessert pizza?! two words that are just meant to be together!
Those yellow flats are stinkin adorable!

Saunas terrify me. I always feel super claustrophobic and like I”m going to die when they get really hot. It probably doesn’t help that my only sauna experience was with my Russian friend who really knew what she was doing when it came to cooking us alive.

Reply

Aww, what cute new outfits for Brooke! I love baby clothes haha.

Reply

Not so sure about that pizza. But those shoes will be adorable on Brooke!!

I’m really happy that finally someone with authority is advocating getting more rest. This happens to me a lot, especially after work. I get home around 7pm and I’m already pooped (pooped = no more energy btw). Then I have a decision to make. Do I cook and eat then go work out in which case, I’ll be running/working out on a full stomach…or workout then come back and eat? If I do it’ll be late, then eat then sleep. What’s more I’ll be exercising on an empty stomach and exhausted from the day as well. It seems there’s no easy answer. Sometimes I’ll have a quick snack, then workout, then come back, but working out during the night is really hard. Lately I’ve tried something new. I get home, cook, clean, relax, then hit the hay around 10. Then I wake up around 5am to work out (the gym opens at 5 and it’s literally 5 minutes walk from my place). Can’t say this is the perfect solution but yes, definitely I’m all for working out/running after resting.
