I’ll stick with running.

Friday morning: I wasn’t in the mood to run (aka I didn’t have anyone to run with) so I decided a step/pump class would be the workout of the day.   Have I ever told you how completely awful I am at step aerobics?  I lasted about 10 minutes before going out and running 2.5 miles on the treadmill as I waited for the pump portion of the class to start.  My coordination was tested during the step aerobics class and I failed.  I’ll stick with running.

My mom and I spent the afternoon together and had to stop for food while we were out. I have gone from the Cafe Rio salad to the tacos and I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

And then randomly I went to my sister’s house and felt like experimenting on her hair.

And when I needed a snack Curly made me some pretty tasty chicken nuggets.

Ever heard of ice castles before?

I stole this one from their website:

NewImage

They were absolutely incredible.  I felt like I was on Frozen.

We spent a while walking around and staring at all of the ice glaciers with the rest of Utah:)

DSC 9057

Just kind of cool.

A few blocks away was one of my favorite pizza joints.  Yes, the ice cream sundae deserves the biggest portion of the picture collage.

Saturday plans include: researching Paleo books and food, cleaning out my closet, a family dinner, and a walk.

I have not seen Frozen, but here in Florida at the Gaylord Palms Hotel they do a big ICE display every year inside. You walk through castles and different displays. There is even a big ice slide. So cool (literally)!!

Reply

Sounds like a great saturday! YOU NEED to go see Frozen. Okay, I am so jealous of your ice slide… ours definitely need that. Hope you have an amazing day!

Reply

Sabrina, they have that at the Gaylord in Dallas, Texas too! We go every few years and it’s a blast, especially those slides!

Reply

And at the Gaylord at the National Harbor in the DC area. It must be a Gaylor thing!

Reply

Omg you’re talented at hair! I can do up or down, that’s it :)

Still haven’t seen Frozen! I think American Hustle is next on our list but hopefully we’ll get to Frozen soon.

Reply

You definitely need to see Frozen soon. Hope you are having an awesome day!

Reply

Ehh I’m with you, wasn’t a big fan of step class. You definitely need some coordination for that class and it moves fast! I did group power and core this morning, then we’re off to our last Christmas celebration. Time to take the tree down tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

Reply

YES, it moves way too fast and somehow the whole class had every move memorized ha. Great workout today and enjoy the last of the celebrations!

Reply

Haven’t seen it yet. Mike take my son for his third birthday next weekend. I’ve heard the soundtrack is amazing.
Today we’re hanging out at my moms while they’re out of town. I also have to get skates sharpened for my sons first skating lessons tomorrow!

Reply

I too am horrible at step aerobics and I have the coordination of a new born giraffe. Trust me, it isn’t pretty, google it.

I ran 12 miles this morning, did a 2 minute plank and walked the dogs. Now I need to take down Christmas decorations but I think I need a nap first.

I haven’t seen Frozen yet but I plan too, the minute it shows up on Netflix.

I’m pretty sure I had a dream about that ice cream sundae and it looks delicious!

Reply

I am SO not coordinated. I feel ridiculous whenever I attempt a step class, it’s not pretty.

My Saturday plans are to spend time with my boyfriend before he goes out of town for two weeks for work. His flight keeps getting changed because of the snow storm yesterday.

I have not seen Frozen yet, but I really want to. It looks cute!

Reply

I totally understand the attempting a step class (or any class for that matter) and realizing 10 minutes in that it just isn’t for you. I have done that way too many times only to find myself on a treadmill running. I ran a little over 12 miles this morning on the treadmill and plan to brave the frigid temps now to run some errands. I did see Frozen – took my 10 year old son because to me you are never too old for Disney although he thinks he is.

Reply

I am still unsure of exactly what happened to me during a step class but suddenly I was sliding across the floor backwards on my back with my feet in the air. I then stood up and discovered I had severely sprained my ankle. I hobbled out of class trying to hold back my tears. Haven’t been back lol

Reply

NOOOOOOO that is awful!!!! I feel like I almost fell a million times too!! I hope your ankle recovered quickly!

Reply

LOVVVVE ED FROZEN! I love Idina Menzel since RENT and Wicked, so I was super awestruck! Those ice castles look so cool. Yes, I’m very coordinated, BUT I am also clumsy (if that makes sense)!

Reply

Those Ice castles look beautiful and I’m so in the mood for tacos now!! I was the step aerobics queen in college, the instructor would always let me take over. Not my thing anymore though, I prefer Zumba. I’m planning on running 6miles today before this snow storm hits. We watched Frozen a couple of week ago and we loved it. Love the story line and again it made me wish I had a sister.

Reply

Definitely NOT coordinated! I’ll stick with running too! I haven’t yet seen Frozen but my dad and I went to “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and it was REALLY good!

Reply

The Ice castles are so beautiful! What a cool thing- I’ve never heard of or seen them! I’m pretty awful at step and aerobics in general and only go if a friend convinces me haha.

Reply

Step is a dangerous beast for the uncoordinated—they need a disclaimer on the door or something…
P.S. Your eyelashes are so long! Are they real??

Reply

Way back in another life (well 2 years ago) I used to teach step aerobics. I absolutely loved it and always had the 50 year old regulars. It takes a lot of practice (not coordination because lord knows I don’t have that) but I always enjoyed it. I wish there was a gym or something closer that I could teach again though.

Those ice castles look amazing. West Coast has all the fun stuff.

Reply

Definitely not a coordinated human being… Far from it! Your eyelashes are gorgeous!!!

Reply

Elizabeth I was wondering if I was the only one that noticed the luscious lashes??

Reply

I neeeed to see Frozen! Everyone keeps saying how cute it is :) Those ice castles are so pretty! I’ve never tried step aerobics. My Saturday plans include some cardio and arm workout, then registering for our BABY (!!!!) and going to Trader Joe’s :)

xo

Reply

Today I’m going on a distillery tour with some friends for someone’s birthday, then having dinner with that friend’s parents. Big group dinner, hurray!

I stick to running because I am absolutely unable to be coordinated. The one single time I took a Zumba class, the instructor caught my eye in the mirror and kept coaxing me and saying, “Come on! You can be sexier! FEEL THE MUSIC!” which only served to make me feel even MORE awkward. I’ll stick to running, too.

You might have inspired me to catch a matinee of Frozen tomorrow in New York City! :)

Reply

I haven’t seen Frozen… but the Hubs took the kiddos to see it. The loved it… of course… lol

Saturday plans… probably some cleaning and laundry… hoping to get in a little bit of a Ballet Beautiful workout too. Gotta work on the muscle imbalances.

Reply

I want to see Frozen SOOOO bad! That ice place looks awesome! My girls would LOVE it!
I am a cross training bum! I pretty much stick with running and I am pretty sure I would be really bad at aerobics! If I am super motivated (like 2x a year) I will pop in a Jillian dvd :)

Reply

I would have run with you on Friday! In a heartbeat! And by with you I mean a mile behind you haha!
I’m just hanging out with my 3 kiddos this morning. Their great grandma is going to visit them later.
That pizza and sundae look so good right now!

Reply

I’ve never seen Frozen, but it seems awesome! I am trying my first pump class really soon and it will be awesome!

Reply

I actually fell off my step in the middle of the class, last time I went. Fell off it, right in front of the really cool girl from my office. I never went back!

Those ice-castles are amazing!

Reply

I’m terrible at step stuff, plus I have this irrational fear that I’m going to tear my achilles doing it so not a fan. That ice castle is insane!

Reply

my plans for today, even though the day is almost done, is to have a going away dinner with some friends. i am moving back to the states after living in the UK for the last 3 years. it’s very bittersweet.

Reply

I haven’t seen Frozen yet, but I’ve heard from so many people that is it great – so I might take Max to see it one of these days!

No big Saturday plans. Just came back from a museum with Max and now going to eat sushi – yummy!

Reply

I used to be coordinated enough to do step aerobics, but not anymore! I will also stick to running:)

Reply

I love Frozen!! This Saturday I am working and then watching a movie! Those castles are so cool!

Reply

I have heard SO much about Frozen… I need to see it!! P.S. One of my friends just went to see the ice castles! Looks awesome!

Reply

Took a killer barre class this morning and now I’m enjoying my delish green smoothie!!

Reply

I am not a coordinated human being at all….so I don’t think there will ever be a time where I try step aerobics.
Those ice castles look so cool. I have not seen Frozen yet. I’ll likely have to wait until it’s out on TV.
Today I have a late Christmas party I have to go to….but I’m not complaining as I love Christmas! That pizza and sundae look delicious by the way!

Reply

I just put out the most cheese and snacks for friends to come over! Perfect cozy Saturday to catch up with high school friends!

Reply

I took a step class once (15 years ago?) and stayed upright. I’m semi-coordinated – I can walk and chew gum, but not walk and text ;)

Saturday plans – ran 9 miles (around Diamond Head), music practice at church this afternoon.

Reply

I LOVE LOVE LOVE step aerobics! I kind of have exercise ADD so I love that it keeps things fresh and fun. I’ve danced my whole life, so this is the closest I can get to that as a 30 year old mom! :) I think that is why running feels like such a huge accomplishment for me…I have to push myself through every single run because I get bored so quickly. But I feel like Superwoman when I get a good run in!!

Reply

That ice castle looks amazing! Such a fun thing to do! I have never done step aerobics… but I fall enough while just running that it doesn’t sound like a smart idea for me! haha

Reply

I absolutely love Frozen, and most other animated movies at age 23. Those castles sure do look like a scene from the movie. I think I would have the same reaction to a step class. I attempted to run in a snow storm this morning and now am just planning on eating, watching movies, and enjoying my Saturday.

Reply

Those ice castles are so cool!

I saw Frozen while I was home over the holidays and loved it! So good!

Reply

Wow, those ice castles look AMAZING! I have been anxious to see Frozen, too.

Reply

I have zero coordination and as much fun as Step looks.. I can’t keep up, but I sure try. It just takes all my concentration and then some for even the simple steps.

Run 6 miles, massage at 9:15am, pick up donuts, 30 minute power nap, dog show.

My kids saw Frozen with their grandma on Friday so I’ll have to wait till it comes out on DVD.. It’s going to be awfully cold this weekend with school canceled on Monday so it might be a good weekend to see some movie or just stay in the house and watch some TV..

Reply

Good for you for trying, in not coordinated either! Mollie and I have been to Frozen twice! She listens to the soundtrack al the time! We love it. xo

Reply

My Saturday plans = Gym (ran 7 mi), Organize my room/unpack (I just moved to BOSTON) and then dinner in the city with my friends from high school!!!

Reply

I loved FROZEN and I have already loaded up the soundtrack to my running playlist. My daughter listens to the Frozen music with her headphones on, singing to her older sister “Do you want to build a snowman?” or dramatically singing out “Let it go, let it go… The cold never bothered me anyway.” I of course had to post on running in the snow and Frozen/inspired by the snowman OLAF. http://markmatthewsauthor.blogspot.com/2013/12/RunLikeOlaffromFrozen.html
It was a great experience and I’m going back.

Reply

Our family LOVED this movie and we even saw it for the second time on Christmas Eve…..my girls also sing it so I had to show them your post about Olaf. Cute!

Reply

Thanks Kathy. I just followed the breadcrumbs to your blog and read up on Saving Mr. Banks. Have to see that one as well.

Reply

I tried a beginner’s step class once… never again. I spent the whole time with the giggles as I kept forgetting the steps. I have little co-ordination at the best of times so that was just my worst nightmare. Plus I know someone who broke their ankle teaching a step class so I’m a little wary – she ran toward the step, caught her foot but her body kept going *shudder*

I normally do Bodypump on a Saturday morning then a group of us (including the instructor) all go for lunch at a local coffee shop, then home to work on university essays :(

Reply

Your eyelashes/mascara looks awesome in the first picture! How did you do that?

I haven’t seen Frozen. We have about 17 inches of snow where I live.. and more coming, so I feel frozen enough. In fact, I kind of got addicted (again) to Diet Coke, kind of after reading all of your posts about it.. so I may have to go buy some more Diet Coke before the snow.

Reply

When I was losing weight I use to take a cardio kickboxing and a kettlebell class at the gym, step aerobics though…..hurts my head I can never keep up and i’m always on the wrong foot lol

Reply

Its a miracle I can even put one foot in front of the other gracefully enough to do running, step aerobics is not my thang.

Reply

NOT a coordinated human being, wish I was but I’m just not.

Reply

I have tried Step Aerobics–and I CANNOT do it!! I teach a kickboxing class that is choreographed…so I thought Step wouldn’t be too bad. It is…I suck :(

Reply

I’m so uncoordinated, but I love step! I was incredibly clumsy my first time (or few times…), but then I got into the groove. It really is fun. Don’t give up on it yet :)

I was planning on taking my son to see Frozen today, but we ended up at the circus instead.

Reply

I am trying to work on organizing some closets today. Exciting, right? lol Then we are taking our dogs to the dog park so they can run around like crazies.

Um, LOVED Frozen! I took my girls and they have been obsessed with it since. I really think it’s one of my top 3 favorite kids’ movies. I was also a Renthead in high school, so I was thrilled to hear Idina Menzel singing one of the leads.

I did BodyStep on and off for nine years. I actually have the coordination for it, I just got bored of it. I originally started to get in shape for my wedding and it was always my fall back. Now I am just starting running for the first time, so I am focusing on that and BodyPump. I can’t wait to see where I’m at in a few months! :)

You get your baby back tomorrow, right? YAY!!!!!! :D

Reply

I did the same thing with Cafe Rio. I did the salads for years then this summer I tried a taco (added guacamole) and I can never go back. Did you see those ice castles in midway? Im supposed to go see them!

Reply

Those ice castles look amazing …. and freezing! I can’t believe you were able to eat an ice cream sundae afterwards! I’d probably go for 20 cups of hot chocolate instead ;)

Today I have 9 miles on the agenda. It’s overcast and a high of 75 here so I’m pretty excited for a cold weather run (hah)!

Reply

Tacos at cafe rio are where it is at!! I am so happy you have converted. Though after that picture, I think I will be craving them until I eat one again. It better be soon!!

Those ice castles look amazing. I have seen a lot about them but haven’t gone. The kids have seen frozen, but I haven’t. I am planning on taking them again when it is at the dollar theater where we get in free with the POAP #Winning

I took step aerobics at Dixie. I am actually ok at it, maybe cause I danced all of my childhood? Or maybe I just think I can, but really just look like at fool. Yep. That’s probably it.

Have a great weekend friend!

Reply

You are gorgeous! I need details on those eyelashes too!

Reply

I am with you girl – I am AWFUL at step aerobics. I think I will stick with running and spinning as well :)

Reply

I love your sisters hair!! The color is so so so gorgeous. :) I haven’t seen Frozen yet (I know, I know… :( ) but I want to SO badly! Step aerobics + Miranda = disaster!

Reply

Once, in college, I decided my (now) husband should go to step aerobics with me. He lasted about 4 minutes before going to play basketball…

Reply

Where is your light blue running jacket from?! So cute!

Also, baby NEEDS that sundae now. Mmmmm soooo good looking. I wonder if I can convince my husband we need to go out and get some ;)

Reply

I took a step class once and swore I’d never take another one, and I haven’t! I am soooo bad at it.

I see a Costco avocado oil bottle beside the microwave behind to Curly. Have you tried it? It makes the most amazing Italian butter if you use it instead of olive oil! Just mix it 50/50 with balsamic vinegar and dip your bread in it. Yum!!!

Reply

I was scared of BodyStep for YEARS, and then I finally just committed to doing it and now I LOVE it! It definitely takes quite a few classes to get a handle on the moves, but then it’s so much fun and a really good workout!

Reply

I saw Frozen a couple weeks ago and loved it! My friend and I went and saw it without any children. It was pretty fun. My Saturday is very low key. I ran for 20 minutes before going to TurboKick. Now I’m sitting in Starbucks with a book. My favorite way it spent a day!

Reply

Frozen was the BEST movie! I need to see it a million more times.
I cried so much during it. Lol.
Janae if you have not done so yet, please download
the song “let it go” by Idina Mendel from the movie.
I can’t stop listening to it. It is such an emotional
and amazing song.
Have a wonderful weekend! Can’t wait for you to be
Reunited with your little sweetie.

“Menzel” sorry about that…

Our saturday plans were walking to a nearby park (fun!) and taking down the Christmas tree (boooooo!) I’ve never tried step aerobics but I do NOT think I’d be good at it, haha

Reply

I want to see Frozen so bad!

Saturday is gonna be a whole lot of laziness. Just got a gingerbread latte & pumpkin cookies. I’m trying to hold onto Christmas as long as possible!

Reply

I used to do step aerobics on Wii Fit haha!

Today I did 10 miles, am going to church, and then having a family game night! Loaded questions are Cards Against Humanity here I come!

I still haven’t seen Frozen. I know, I need to!!

Reply

Hi Janae! My name is Mandee, I’m 19, and I’ve absolutely LOVED your blog ever since I first ran across it! You inspired me to start running more and more and now i’m absolutely hooked. I’m actually planning to run my first half marathon in April!! I had a question about what kind of headphones you wear to run. I feel like everytime I run, I get so sweaty that my earphones start sliding out of my ears (probably TMI but I know you understand my pain) and it is driving me insane! Any recommendations for some good headphones to run in? Or the best type of headphone to run in? Preferably not too expensive<—-poor college kid here
Anyways I love love LOVE your blog! Have a wonderful weekend!

Reply

Okay, first of all me and my kids are obsessed with Frozen. Seriously, love it! Second of all I hate step aerobics. It makes me dizzy and makes me feel dumb. :) running for me too! And last but certainly not least, no more cafe rio salads? Say it ain’t so. I’ love the salad but now feel like I need more details on the tacos. They must be amazing.

Reply

Love that jacket! It’s awesome.

Sounds like you are using your time wisely. Time with family is so precious.

Reply

I’m with you on that whole coordination thing…aerobics teachers have literally laughed at my lack of coordination in step/dance classes. But it was okay because I was laughing at myself too :) I’ll stick with running, thanks!

Reply

I have never seen ice castles like that…that is AWESOME!! I would love it if they had them in my area!!

Tonight I am making my Best friend salmon and cheesy baked potatoes for dinner ..it’s been a while since we had a night with just us two so I’m really looking forward to it!!:)

I haven’t seen frozen…dying to go though!

Reply

I can’t do step classes either. I’ve never been coordinated enough to get it down and then I just get frustrated. I love to go dancing but even then, it’s not all that pretty. But it sure works up a sweat! :) I love the ice castles; we have that here in Minnesota too.

Reply

I haven’t seen Frozen, is it good? I don’t know anyone that has seen it!

P.S. You’ve got to take Brooke to those ice castles when she gets back, those look so cool!

Reply

I am coordinated, because I teach Jazzercise. You should take a class sometime!

Reply

I never tried step aerobics. The only group fitness classes I have done are Zumba and spin- both of which I enjoy but do not do regularly.

Reply

I don’t comment a lot but I just had to share a milestone. I ran 10 miles (without stopping) for the first time ever today! This blog and all the people who post on here have been an inspiration to me on my running journey so where better to share this accomplishment!

Run on!

Reply

Ahhhhhh huge congratulations!!!! You are Incredible!

Reply

I am most definetley not cordinated. Sometimes I trip while running on a flat track and one time I fell on the treadmill. It hurt my ego more than my body; don’t worry.
Plans tonight include watching way to many episodes of Scrubs and eating way too much Sour Jelly Bellys.
I haven’t seen frozen yet because the singing movies are not my favourite!?

Reply

I hear ya on the running thing…I am so uncoordinated that I really can’t do much else!

Those ice sculptures are super cool. It does look like Frozen! (love that movie).

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Reply

I am very klutzy! I always somehow trip over myself… Do you trip yourself going up the stairs? I seem to do that a lot! Plans for today… Study, stretch and rest! I finished a New Years Double a on New Years Day and Eve so I’m still sore! I have not yet seen Frozen yet! :) Loving the sundae!

Reply

Saturday plans include lounging around my house in my PJ’s with my hubby and baby before I have to start school again on monday. boo :(

I have tried step before and zumba and I’m just not even a little bit good at either of them…then again I sometimes trip and fall when I’m running too so I don’t know if I’m really good at that either! haha

I’m sending that ice castle link to my sister in utah because her daughter is obsessed with Frozen! I need to see it, pronto!

Reply

I am so not a step aerobics/group fitness kind of person. I’ve tried several different classes but just didn’t get into them. Saturday plans: run (already done), dog park, dinner and a movie with the husband.

Reply

I’m not coordinated AT ALL. When I had a gym membership (sadly I had to end my membership when I started a new job in March because I commute 4 hours a day and just don’t have time to go), I tried a Step class and a Kickboxing class and I hated them both. By the time my limbs decide they’re ok with doing what everyone else is doing, they’ve changed to another move = I look like an idiot!

Saturday plans = still recovering from having my wisdom teeth out on Monday. One side didn’t take too well to the surgery, so I’m still really stiff and sore and bruised and eating softer foods (aka dying because I really want crunchy french fries and probably won’t eat applesauce again for at least a few years) and FOOTBALL :)

Reply

Have you ever had their coconut shrimp?! So delicious. Tell Cafe Rio to open up in North Carolina.

Reply

I like step aerobics better than regular because if you don’t know the routine you can just go up and down the step and not mess anyone else up. I did it a lot through my first 2 pregnancies. It’s when the routine has you traveling lengthwise on the step or twirling while going up and down that I kind of flail…that’s usually where I resort to the plain up and down :) I’m not particularly uncoordinated but nor am I particularly coordinated. I have trouble walking in heels and correctly aiming myself through doorways. Frozen…love it! Seen it a few times and the kids all want to go for more :) It’s getting expensive. We NEED the DVD.

Reply

I used to love Step! I remember first doing it in my living room because my mom had gotten the VHS tapes and Step from Reebok. After college I would regularly do a step class and then body pump once or twice a week. I was always a bigger fan of cardio kick though.

I’d been craving Chipotle since I got it last week, but wanted to be healthier so I made my own “burrito bowl” with salmon and used ancient grains instead of rice. It was divine.

Reply

I love step aerobics and I am NOT coordinated. I was really bad at first, but after a few classes you kind of get the hang of it. At the class I went to, at least, a lot of the moves were the same every time. It was a lot of fun once I could actually do it :)

Reply

My husband and I just saw Frozen and we loved it! I love the songs and have been singing them in my head the last few days :) Our Saturday consisted of skiing at the Canyons resort. It was a blast but absolutely freezing today!

Reply

Super happy to see all the FROZEN comments and LOVE of it…..we are still going crazy for Frozen around here too. ;-)

Now, have you seen “Saving Mr. Banks” yet?? Bring a kleenex when you do but it is so worth it.

Reply

That ice castle is amazing! The town I went to college in had a winter festival every year and they always had an ice castle, but it was never as cool as the one in your pictures.

Reply

Today I ran twelve miles for the first time in over a year, and now I feel like my legs are going to fall off! I’m not sure about this full marathon thing–I may downgrade to the half and try for a full later this year. I’ve had so many setbacks (injury, illness, etc) during training and I don’t feel like I will be ready in time. So frustrating!! Have you ever had to downgrade a race due to setbacks in training??

Reply

Baaahaha me? Coordinated? baaahahaha no, not at all lol I knock the steps over and just move my arms and legs randomly. Not pretty. I even recently purchased Yaktrax Run so I dont fall on my butt when I run on the ice/snow.

Those are seriously the most beautiful pieces of ice I have ever seen. So cool!

Reply

hahaha every time I try and do a workout video my hubby looks pityingly at me and says things like “I think you are supposed to move your hips, not your shoulders” or
“you look like you are trying to look like you are doing the motion, instead of actually doing it.” I think he finds it mildly entertaining. :)

Reply

Step aerobics is not for me…I lack the coordination for that! I stick with running and yoga. It keeps me moving and makes my soul happy :)
Saturday plans …treadmill run, veggie chili, attempting to pack for WDW Marathon and only bring a carry on.
LOVE Frozen…the soundtrack is awesome and I listen to it while I run. Sometimes I sing out loud :)

Reply

I’m not very coordinated at all… I can’t really follow choreography at all. I did a kickboxing class with a friend recently, and it was like a mix of kickboxing and Zumba. Just when I would get the routine down, they’d change it! I just did a lot of kicking and bouncing then. I spent the Saturday with my sister :) I ran in the morning, we had lunch with grandma, then we went shopping and got some fun purchases :D
I saw Frozen earlier this week — so cute!!!!

Reply

Not coordinated at all! I am a total clutz. I haven’t seen Frozen but heard soooo many good things about it.

Reply

No, I’m not coordinated at all. I started doing T25 with my sister, and I just can not get the hang of some of the moves they do, and I’m sure they’re not even all that complicated! Haha! Oh well, I’ll stick to running, too. :)

Reply

Am not coordinated enough for step so don’t ever go to that class. Do like pump but my favorite cross training to running is Bikram yoga. Great workout and I love it.

Took the kids to see frozen after reading you went. We all loved it, especially the snowman.

Just finished a good 19km run and it was awesome :)

Reply

Saw Frozen, it was OK but Tangled is still definitely my absolute fave.

Reply

I tried Step a couple of times… I’m definitely not coordinated and spent too much time trying to figure out which direction I was supposed to be going and aggravated my IT band injury! Now I stick to Pump and BodyFlow because those movements are slower and more controlled!

Reply

Step = By the time I got the movement down, the instructor would be on to the next move. I finally had to learn to count in my head, 1,2,3,4…..1,2,3,4

Reply

Love love love a good, challenging step aerobics class. Bonus points for an 80s soundtrack. Step aerobics may be the thing I miss the most about a gym membership. Serious fun!

Reply

I’m the most uncoordinated person when it comes to step class. the days when I used to attempt it, I would set myself in the middle of the class that way when they did the turns I would still have people to look at to keep up. I feel sorry for anyone that was looking to me for cues.

went to a funeral today for a friend. my heart hurts.

saw frozen last Saturday. loved it. a lot. my daughter’s been singing “do you want to build a snowman all day.
those ice castles are so cool.

Reply

I took an aerobics class in college and it was hands down my favorite class I took throughout the entire 4 years. Luckily I am somewhat coordinated when choreographed moves are put to music. Without choreography, I am a mess.

Reply

The family who started up ice castles came to Minneapolis from Utah last winter to sculpt them at the mall of America. They were in our ward. It was so cool!

Reply

Step isn’t so bad once you get going-you’re never the absolute least coordinated person in the room, I promise! When I go, my shins always are sore the next day-I tend to step up halfway instead of putting my whole foot on the bench. I stick to running, but my aunt swears by her step classes.

Reply

Step always reveals how uncoordinated I am, I get lost in all the ups and downs and left and rights.

Reply

I have been dying to see Frozen. We ended up driving from the homeland to home…660+ miles and the last 200+ were in a snow storm.

Reply

What is pump class?

Reply

It is a weight lifting class!

Reply

Is it set to music? What do you use for weights? Is it designed for women? What benefits have you seen? Tell me more, I’ve never heard of it before and am very curious.

Reply

Mainly just women come to the class. There is music playing and we use free weights and the bar. I feel a lot stronger after taking the class for a few months and I have noticed my arms and legs are more tones be caused of it!

Do you know if it’s a Les Mills class? Is it a “Body Pump”? Those are a blast, but since I’ve upped my mileage, some of my weightlifting has gone by the wayside. Feels so good to lift though, I feel like it improves my running!

Today I went for a run, did some therapy with my son and went to high tea with mother-in-law. A good day! I haven’t seen Frozen yet but plan to take the kids this week. I did step in the early nineties and quite liked it – but Pump is heaps better imo. Those ice castles look amazing. Wow – Utah seems like a wonderland! Take care.

I am not coordinated at all. I used to go to step classes, and I would spend have the time studying the instructors feet trying to keep up.
I haven’t seen Frozen yet, but from everything I’m hearing I really want to take my daughter.

I have a back injury and have been trying to mix up my workouts to help speed up the recovery–a little swimming, a little spinning. But really? Nothing can take the place of running. Good for you for branching out!

I take step almost every weekend….. its a lot of fun, but definitely a LOT of work! Its body step, so its a total body workout.

Those ice castles are amazing! Wow! I’ve never seen anything like it.

You did such a great job on your sisters hair!!
I am not coordinated either. I tend to fall down a lot or I just look weird. I am with you, I try to stick to running. I am lucky I have enough coordination to put one foot in front of the other. :)
I have not seen Frozen yet, but my sister has and she loved it, she said I reminded her as that I reminded her of Anna in the movie. I cant wait to see it to see if she is right. haha!!

Okay, so I have tried and tried and tried and tried step, and I suck at it, but I somehow can handle teaching Zumba and dancing salsa without a problem. Something about that step just doesn’t stick for me! Saturday, I went to a housewarming party and had a little too much to drink, and I have not YET seen Frozen. I feel so behind!

I am actually pretty coordinated but haven’t taken a Step class! Perhaps 2014 will be that year ;)

JUST saw Frozen. Loved the music. Loved the story. Olof won my heart.

I’m with you! Any classes involving dancing, coordination, or rhythm of any kind are no gos for me. But that ice castle looks AMAZING. Definitely don’t have those in the Bay Area :)

Are you wearing the North Face thermoball jacket? Such a great coat!

I’m pretty sure I would end up breaking something if I did a step class. I am not coordinated at all.

Curly is getting so big!!!

Let’s talk about the most important thing in this post…are those your REAL eyelashes! I am so jealous!

I used to love step aerobics in college, the instructor was super enthusiastic and funny haha.

I end up not getting a workout at step aerobics because I’m just standing there wondering what they heck is going on! I’m with you :)

I’ve never seen anything like those ice castles before, that’s awesome! I haven’t seen frozen yet but have been meaning to. I’ve learned that all my coordination goes out the window when I do lunges for some reason. I’m a total body pump addicts but no matter how hard I tell my body we’re not gonna tip over while doing lunges I always end up stumbling haha.
