The plus and minus of not getting up when my alarm clock goes off in the morning:
Minus—> I absolutely love getting my workout done first thing in the morning and finished before I even really realize what I am doing. With each minute of the day that goes by I get lazier and lazier and less likely to work out.
Plus—–> I got to run side by side on treadmills at the gym with my sister and talk the entire 8 miles. I wish you guys got to know her in real life because you would then understand why I go on and on and on about how awesome she is.
The reason it looks like I haven’t seen the light of day for months is because I don’t think I have actually been outside in the daylight longer than running from my car to the gym in months.
Stretching and talking to my brother on the phone at the same time… multi-tasking at its finest. She really loves it when I take pictures of her without her even knowing.
I love adding spinach to my soup as it is cooking to get some move veggies in. I also really love dipping my Wheat Thins into my soup to get some more carbs and deliciousness in.
I have a giveaway that may help you during these cold weather months!
Who else does this:
Brooks (not to be confused with Brooke… No, I did not name her after Brooks Running (I have loved the name Brooke since I was a little girl) but it is kind of fun)) is giving away a pair of the Seamless Arm Warmers, the Utopia 3-In-1 Mitten IIs and the Infiniti Headband to one lucky reader!
The winner will be picked on Friday (12/13/13)!!!
To enter just leave a comment telling me anything you want!
I want a running headband!!!
I don’t know if new shoes are a stocking stuffer, but I could definitely use a new pair, LOL! I’m totally interested in trying out the Brooks headband, too!
Would love to win…it’s way to cold here in PA!
it is FREEZING in boston!!!
I want to tell you and Brooke hi! I don’t know how you run outside in Utah in the winter because I am freezing my feet off here in KY.
Eeeee!!!!! I have ALWAYS wanted arm warmers!!!!!
Your daughter is beautiful!
Oh! Oh! Pick me, pick me! Please and thanks!
I need new running mittens!!!
I want to win;)
I need help getting out the door in the freezing DC winter we’re having. Pick me!
I’m training in Northeast Ohio…I NEED those arm warmers, lol! :)
I can totally relate to the “You know you’re a runner if…” quote! I often find myself not only looking at the forecast but the sidewalks as well! (I run on a pretty busy road so I feel 10x more comfortable running on sidewalks instead of the actual road) I can’t stand if the weather is sunny and bright out but the sidewalks look like crap!
P.S. I could really use the running gloves! We’ve gotten about 12 inches of snow total for December when usually Kentucky only sees one inch this time of year. The gloves would come in handy this winter for sure! :)
I want both – it actually does get cold in MS – and it’s a WET cold. Would love these !!
I just want sleep!
I’d love to win! But what I love even more is reading your blog everyday! You’re so inspiring, and Brooke is the cutest!!
I miss my granddaughter who is just a bit younger than Brooke (they moved to WA state). I watch what Brooke seems to be doing to know what Emiliyah will be doing soon. Thanks for sharing Brooke with us.
I live in Chicago and when I ran tuesday morning is was literally 1 degree out. Oh dear god was I freezing because I am an idiot who thought it was 18 degrees and did not dress appropriately.
I’m so glad you get to be close to your family and see your sister all the time now! What a blessing! It has been so cold here so I am stuck on the treadmill! I would love some warm weather gear!
I would love the headband or mittens! I am starting to freeze when I go out for my runs!
I’d love all three.
I could definitely use all of these things. It’s getting cold and I have like no cold weather running clothes. No idea how that happened.
It was 19 degrees this morning when I woke up!! It was still dark and on my way to work I saw someone outside running in this! He had a pretty sweet getup on I could see him really well in the dark but holy cow dude its cold go find a treadmill! Or at least wait until the sun it up so it hopefully warms things up a bit.
I’m glad you are finding joy and peace in your new normal.
I would love some super warm gloves. I have to run with my double stroller during the week and the only place I can go with big enough sidewalks is by the water….where it’s super cold and windy! But the treadmill could never replace the fresh air!
I totally need to win! I am in hibernation mode!
You Are a big inspiration inspiration to me. I graduate on the 13th from BYU-H so I think this should be my graduation gift :)
Oh I always love seeing your blog entries- Brooke is so adorable – she makes all of our days. :) Thanks so much for getting us to smile daily.
I wish I could work out first thing in the morning, but I have kid duty in the morning, so I’ve switched to lunchtime workouts. Not ideal, but whatcha gonna do?? :)
I would live to try out a pair of arm warmers! And those mittens are the jam!

Ooh ooh! I would love to win some warm gear! Not only are my current gloves useless, I think I lost one tonight. Also, I gave up my car and started riding my bike this year and it gets REALLY chilly on a bike. I’d love to win these!!! My kids and I made candy-dipped marshmallow pops yesterday to share with neighbors (http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2013/12/christmas-delights/). Trying to get into the holiday spirit!
I love Brooks too and would absolutely name my kid after the brand, haha (only half kidding)!
We had 10 straight days of rain here in Atlanta last week and the beginning of this week! When I saw sun in the forecast I couldn’t wait to get out to run!!!

My dad started running last year after 30 years off — and finished his first half marathon a few weeks ago! I would love to give him the gloves or arm warmers as a stocking stuffer this year :)

I’m trying to get out in the cold and run… but I just want to snuggle with my little man (4 1/2 months old). So cold weather gear might help…. might.

I just bought my husband a golfball muscle roller fro christmas….SHHHHH dont tell him

Alyssa @ Don't Look Down
It so cold and snowy here but I’ve been avoiding the treadmill!
I love arm warmers! They are the best cold weather accessory.
I want to try them all!
I hope I win – I live in Ithaca NY and it’s freeeeeeeeezing out! And I just lost my favorite running scarf :( Probably fell out of my pocket! I’ve been running in the early AM and it’s so peaceful – but COLD!
Would love those gloves for my cold morning runs!!
I would love some reflective running gear for the dark winter months! I’ve been scoping out the Amphipod reflective vests and I love them!
I went on a run with my mom today (my favorites) and I’m always amazed how quickly the miles pass as we ‘re talking.
Your daughter is adorable and I have always wondered if you named her after Brooks Running….thanks for the answer. I would love to win the gear goodies!! Happy Holidays!!
I want my knee and ankle to feel better…so I can run more!

I love Brooks running gear, and I would love that cute printed pattern headband!!
I want warm running pants!
I want to win! I’m taking your advice and buying quality running gear for cold weather. It sure is fun to buy new stuff & winning new stuff would be even more fun! Yeah!!
I’d love mittens!!! My hands get so cold running in Boston

Longtime reader who needs some help!
I entered this giveaway for the Brook’s Utopia 3-In-1 Mitten IIs! Unfortunately, luck didn’t come my way.
Anyway, I’m currently hiking the Appalachian Trail and have had NO LUCK with the waterproof gloves I currently have (ie. painfully cold fingers!!!) and was going to order this pair from Brooks but they’re currently not available. Boo :( Anyway, I thought I’d reach out to you, in case you have some kind of hook up at Brooks! See if you could put in a good word for me…. along the lines of: AT hiker with freezing cold hands in need of some ladies medium gloves/overmitts (preferably waterproof).
I would be eternally grateful! (And I don’t mind if they’re “slightly flawed/already used/etc.”)
Many, many thanks!
