The key for a good treadmill workout: Meet Rachelle at the gym and run next to her as she is doing a crazy fast tempo run. She motivated me big time and I ended up with 12 miles and 4 of those miles at a 6:50 pace. I’ll take it.
Shorts and a tank top… gone are the days that I wore that outside every day to run.
Now to convince Rachelle to run next to me on the treadmill every day, maybe she can even come to my house and stand next to my treadmill and talk me into going fast or something for the rest of the winter.
About the movie yesterday. It was amazing. I could probably watch Frozen at least 30 more times and I need the soundtrack asap.
Brooke did really well. She sat in the chair next to me, and then on my lap and then finished off the movie standing in front of us with her hands on the rail (and walking along the rail for a little bit too). I think that the music and the snowman in the movie kept her entertained.
I think this is her hint that she wants to come back to the movie theater.
After the movie Brooke took a nap and then we went to a Christmas party and Brooke finally sat on Santa’s lap without crying. It was a miracle. We went straight from the party to finally meet the gorgeous Allie for the good stuff.
I learned yesterday that I need to start buying Brooke her own cup of froyo if I want any.
Helped my mom put up the tree.
Brooke went to bed and then I went with friends to Cafe Rio.
Then we watched some of them make an ice castle in the freezing cold. We also watched the movie Rise of the Guardians. It was a good time.
What are your Saturday plans!?!?

I miss the tanktop/shorts days too!!! Great run :)
I have plans to stretch, roll, lunge, and maybe run a little bit ((I am trying to take some weeks off!))
OH and probably hit up Costco… my favorite!
Have a great one!!— p.s.– it is 7am and I am positively craving froyo now….
Sanaz@ Run for Cake
What a good run! I can’t run longer distances on the treadmill. No way. I just get bored. I guess with all that snow you have no other choice. :) Looks like you had a great day yesterday. Today I want to get my Christmas shopping done and I must bake Christmas cookies. Must. Seeing all these cookie exchanges online has made me crave cookies big time! Off to hot yoga. Happy Saturday!
Wendy @ New Moms Talk
We’re starting off our morning with some family yoga and laughter. That’ll be followed by pancakes and sausage circles.
In no particular order, we’ll: complete some writing gigs, finish stitching ornaments for tree and put the final touches on the tree skirt, break out the chain saw and haul a massive amount of limbs to the fire pit area for Monday’s burning/bonfire, and hopefully sneak out for some thrift scavengering/shopping, too.
I’d love to get in a swim, but the nasty bruise on my leg from cutting/hauling limbs is still purpley-red and needs another day or two of healing.
Courtney @Trigirl Chronicles
My Saturday plans include running the It’s a Wonderful Life 5k race that starts and ends on the bridge from the movie.
Also, 6:50 miles! You’re so fast!
Katie
Oh, I love that movie and had no idea they do a 5K! Now I wanna sign up for next year :) Have fun!
Adriana @Laced Up With Lipstick
Lol, on Brooke taking your froyo away. And just so you know, even if you get your own cup she will still want what you have :). My kids are constantly taking away my stuff, wait what am I saying…my husband does too. I’m going to have to take Izzy to watch Frozen, I hope she’ll want to stay the entire movie!!
As for Saturday plans, I’ll probably be running in the treadmill again until my stabilicers get here…what do you wear to run in snow and ice Janae? Then I will be baking for my husbands change of command ceremony.
Happy Saturday!
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
I have a Saturday off for the first time in what feels like forever! The bad news is I have it off because of black ice. We will be spending the day at home in our PJ’s.
Allie (Live Laugh Eat)
I told myself all summer when it was 100*F to enjoy it because it’d be fuh-reeezing soon and I’d wish for it back. Now we have to tell ourselves it’ll be sizzling hot soon and we’d wish for the cold temps.
Has Brooke seen 101 Dalmations?! It would just be a steady stream of “doggy doggy doggy….”
Leah @ Running with the Hayneses
I was supposed to do a 15-mile trail run with a friend, but it’s only 5 degrees here right now!!!!!! I’m thinking maybe we’ll go to the gym and run side-by-side on the treadmills instead!
mary @ minutes per mile
i’ve got 12 miles today, too! jealous that you already knocked yours out :)
Linda @running4two
Sounds like a great time! I plan to relax, eat, and watch some Christmas movies. :-)
Becky
We’re getting our first snow “storm” of the year, so I’m planning on staying home as much as possible to spend time with my guy and my dog. We hardly see each other during the week because of our work schedules.
I am also excited about the leftover Chinese food I’m going to be eating for breakfast.
HollieisFueledByLOLZ
I cannot get over how big Brooke is getting. I’m glad to hear you are having a good time and that movie sounds adorable. I cannot believe how cold this winter is right now. I’m glad I’m not living in Upstate NY anymore. They already have 3 feet of standing snow on the ground. No.
Laura
My big plans are to give my kids a bath. Yes, really! I’ve got a 9 month pregnant belly that makes bath time torture…the leaning over, wrangling 2 slippery 2 year olds, etc. We are exciting today!
Elizabeth @ my neon running shoes
So fun! I’m glad Brooke did well at the movie. Today’s plans include cinnamon rolls for breakfast, a run, the GENDER REVEAL :-) :-) :-), my moms bday celebration, then Joes dad’s bday celebration! Can’t wait!!!
Heather @fitncookies
Such a fun time at the movies! Brooke looks so happy to have seen it :)
My plans are hopefully to bake! I had toe surgery yesterday and I’m not feeling as great as I did yesterday.. so it’s couch time and hopefully baking time!
Nikki
We are going to take our son to see Santa the local cupcake shop is bringing in Santa today and giving each child a free mini cupcake! Def a win-win for us! No running today cross training with weights.
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
I squeezed in a 12 mile run outside before the snow started falling – actually, it started to flurry around mile 5 but I wasn’t stopping for flurries…I want to take my son to see Frozen tomorrow – looks like we will like it!
Livi
that Christmas tree looks amazing!
Sabrina @ Coffee With Sabrina
You can come here, it is still short and tank top weather in Florida. ;) It possibly the best running weather that we have all year.
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun
Heading to the gym here in a little bit. Then I have a ton of laundry and vacuuming to do – then HOPEFULLY maybe a quick date night before the husband has to get to studying. We will see :) All I know is I want to RELAX!
Gracie (Complicated Day)
Somehow I developed a backlog of housework :( So, cleaning for me. And a very long shower, since I decided to do a hot oil treatment on my hair and I kind of have a lot of hair. There is oil everywhere now. I bet I use up all the shampoo.
Laura @ Live, Run, Sparkle
Aww what a fun day! We want to see frozen too but we don’t have any kids, so we will just be the weirdo adults in the theater. Haha. Tonight we have my boyfriends work Christmas party so I get to get all dressed up :) Happy Saturday!
Losing Lindy
V has a birthday party from 4-8, I have no idea what to do with myself. I am debating on heading into work, since I missed two days this week.
Writing this makes me realize I need more friends.
Marilyn
We totally downloaded the Frozen soundtrack as soon as we got home from watching it…and we may be asking each other repeatedly, ‘Do you wanna build a snowman?’ :-)
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life
Plans today- two flights, lots of waiting, and being reunited with my family after 4 months of being away <3 12 miles on the treadmill?! You go girl!!
Kristi
Going to try out a pole dancing exercise class, and then debating if I want to go to my work’s Christmas party tonight.
Molly Rose
I love how Brooke is modeling that movie poster, haha! Ps…I am the only person I know right now that wants to see that Walter Mitty movie. I’m a sucker for weird happy movies. And Kristin Wiig
My Satruday started off with a group run with some girls and a couple of their babies! Life is getting so different now that I enter my “later” 20s! I’m liking group runs more and more; “me time” is nice, but being with girlfriends is better :)
And now I am blog reading (obvs) then out for some errands in a bit! Relaxing day and I can’t wait to live it up!
Leigha @ Minougirl
I ran with friends this morning, soon I’m making cookies with grandma, I’m going to church, then maybe the movies!!
Flower
I wish I had a Rachelle! I motivated myself by putting christmas lights on my treadmill. It worked. Until I dripped sweat on the cord and they sparked up and almost caught me on fire so I yanked the plug and almost got electrocuted.
I’m going Christmas Shopping today and then coming home to bake Christmas treats and get ready for a holiday half marathon I’m running tomorrow.
Have a great weekend.
Megan @ Meg Go Run
We are supposed to get a lot of snow today, so it’s going to be a mostly warm and cozy inside kind of day! I hope to get out for a short run in the snowflakes before it starts laying on the roads.
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs
I’m heading to the gym, then off to do some Christmas shopping!!
Christine@munchkinmumbles
I get so impressed every time you mention you do 12 miles on a treadmill! I need to use you as inspiration and break away from my 10km happy treadmill place. This weekend is looking like an outside long run will be possible WHOOP! This weekend is a Christmas baking swap, The hunger games (finally!), and a long run! Have a great one!
Mallory
I LOVE Brooke’s vest. I need it in my size pronto!
It’s snowing in NY so I am inside snuggling with the pups all day! HAve a good weekend =)
amy
Great job on your speedy run!
I still havent seen frozen. We will though. I cant believe brooke made it through the whole movie at her age. Amazing!
I have to get my baby her own cup of yogurt too. She gets a little possessive of her food. Shes kinda like me.
Saturday plans are:
– laundry before we have to head back home to cali..
-I need to go to kneaders again and have the turkey bacon avocado salad. My hubby dumped the crumbs from his parmesan chips onto my salad and it was heavenly. Have u tried that?
-my kids want to go to cabellas so they can play at the video shooting range upstairs.
-I need to visit costco and get some grandma sycamore bread to take back home since we dont have it where I live. I will be walking the aisles carefully too in case there is anything else that’s different (like a huge jar of caramel sauce that my sis in law has in her fridge from there). Exciting huh? :)
-and lots of visiting with my fam. Gotta soak if up while im in town til Monday am.

I keep hearing so many good things about Frozen! I need to see it. My Saturday plans are a 7 mile run (done) a few errands, then bunkering down for all the rain we are going to get and watch movies while drinking hot chocolate :) best.day.ever!
Mary@RunWalkLift
Going to a sealing and then assembling a surprise Christmas present for the in-laws who are out of town. Hopefully they will like it. No workout. My gym is expanding and will re-open on Monday. Can’t wait till Monday.

It’s my big holiday tacky light run and its raining. What do I do? I hate soggy feet

Wow lady you are FAST!! I am also about to hop on my treadmill, its 12 here and it’s going to snow pretty soon so I’m playing it safe for now, wahhh!!! Wow do I miss shorts/tanks days of running outside! Enjoy your weekend!
Emmeline @RunForThePizza
Now I definitely need to see Frozen! I took my nephew to his irst movie back when Cars came out and was so surprised at how well he did…maybe it’s Disney magic :)
Plans today are a tempo run and grilled cheese and DVD night with my husband (exciting Saturday I know…but I’m still battling this flu!)
Kathy
Parents are driving down today and we will be at church taking in all 3 services over the weekend while my kiddos participate in the Christmas program. (Parents will be driving home tomorrow so they will just be at tonight’s service~they are great but no one besides the parents usually sit through all 3 services. ha!)
Funny thing my hubby just said this morning…”Maybe we should buy the soundtrack to Frozen?” Yep, My NEW MOTTO ~ “Let It Go!” Loved Elsa, Anna, and Olaf!!! So good!!
Elizabeth @ Positive Change
Totally missing the tank top days! We have snow/rain/sleet right now and it makes me so sad!
I can’t wait to go see Frozen, we are going this weekend and also going to see Saving Mr. Banks! I can’t wait!
Lisa@runningoutofwine
I am heading to NY for a wedding! Got my run in this morning before the snow hit the east coast!
Katie Did What
Okay you’ve convinced me to see Frozen. I’ve heard good things from lots of people!! :) But first I need to see Catching Fire! OBviously. That might just be my plans for the day!
xo

It was 7am spin class for me, followed by a trip to the grocery store, and now my family is off for our first sledding trip of the year! Tonight will be our annual Christmas family movie night…we’ve decided the girls are old enough for a Christmas Story this year :)
Megan
You should get the folks at frozen to give you some soundtracks to give away. It was so good!
I snuck in a quick run and core work out and now I am at work 10am-7pm (running store, its all good), then dinner with friends to finalize plans for a weekend away in Feb!!
Rachel Rinderknecht
I am going to be studying for finals all day long! I am graduating this semester though so hopefully that will motivate me! :) I have also seen Frozen and I love it! I bought the sound track right away, and I seriously listen to it in my car all of the time :)
K
I wish I had motivation to run long on my treadmill! Brooke definitely will grow up with a sweet tooth like yours! :) My Saturday plans are to finish studying and maybe run… It’s snowing where I’m from, so a treadmill run will have to do…
G
I’ll stay home on Saturday as always beacuse I have three kids and there is noone to watch them so I can’t ever go out. it’s like prison and I want out but I can’t. you guys have fun though.
Karen @karenlovestorun
Frozen was a great movie! I have a few of the songs on my iPod and I love them.
Saturday plans: I did an early short and sweet run, a little Christmas shopping, we got our tree (finally!!) and tonight we are going out for my brothers birthday dinner at a Hibachi restaurant.
Happy Weekend!
Karen @karenlovestorun
Johanna
I absolutely LOVE frozen yogurt! :D We have a frozen yogurt place near by, but it gets pretty pricey to take 6 people there, so we don’t go as often as we’d like. :/
This Saturday I’m babysitting my two adorable year old and newborn nephews while my bro. and sis-in-law go somewhere to celebrate their anniversary! :)
Susan
Saturday plans = run at the gym track (still too cold out) & swim then shopping + lunch with my husband. I am so happy you had such a wonderful Friday. You look happy!
Kara @ Kara in the Kitchen
Do my Jillian workout, fold laundry, go to the Stake Creche exhibit, eat cookies, listen to and sing beautiful music :)
Elle
I just woke up, so its off to the gym to lift, home to make some protein bars and dinner and then into work for the night.
Lynzie
We are getting a treadmill today! I am excited! Plus I’m making eggplant parmesan for supper and chilling watching Lark Rise to Candleford. Tomorrow I have 8 miles on the plan!
Tina@GottaRunNow
I had a great time this morning running near a 5K race that was going on at the park where I like to run. The cloudy sky changed to a clear, sunny sky before I finished.
Shelly
Janae you are looking really happy of late – especially in that second picture of you and Brooke in front of the Frozen poster. Your positivity has always been there, no matter your circumstances, but lately you’re looking like you’ve found a new strength and happiness.
XxxX Shelly
Meredith@RunMeriRun
I love seeing her little personality develop! My running group had our holiday breakfast after our run this morning. Then I went to a cookie exchange & we play holiday games. Lots of fun!! Your tree is gorgeous!
Marissa
We took our fam to see Frozen today! We also got to take my 3 year old niece and it was her first movie ever. She loved it! We also did The Color Run with our kids this morning and after a bit of complaining about getting up early, they loved it! We’ll finish off the day with an ugly Christmas sweater party :)
Liz @ Carpe Diem and Run
Your pace is insane
julia
Hit the treadmill for 5 miles after my last slowish day at the bakery until after January. Its been snowing for days here and was -20C so outside wasn’t my first choice. Surprised my huband with nachos for supper for after he and my oldest cleared the driveway and then watched the Santa Clause. Can’t wait to get back outside, and in 3 weeks starting a 1/2 marathon training program.
Courtney K
My Saturday included working from 9-5. Then coming home and doing laundry. Love your retail workers this time of year, we miss our families and days off:(
Kari Burghardt
I’m taking Mollie to see Frozen tomorrow! It will be her first time going to a theatre. She’s excited for the popcorn…and so am I!! If I owned a vest like Brook’s I would wear it every day. Have a great weekend! :)
Monica
Loved Frozen! I have three girls and they all loved it. We bought the album yesterday and have been singing constantly, especially ‘let it go’. It will probably get added to my running play list. ;)
Lauren @Will Run for Boston
I love that tree skirt! It is so adorable!
Carson
The number of movies you watch blows my mind because I never watch them. I wish I had the willpower to sit still that long.
Kari @ Running Ricig
On Saturday, I went baby clothes shopping with my mom and then to Mike’s work Christmas party. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay long because it was basically a blizzard outside and we didn’t want to die on the drive home.
Liana@RunToMunch
i sometimes race my treadmill neighbor. It’s my secret =)
Kay
What a fun day! I’m impressed that Brooke was so good during the movie! Although it’s a kids’ movie so I guess no one should be too surprised if kids are talking/moving around haha.
Niki
