That was quite refreshing.

Brooke and I had quite the entertaining day at UTAH RUN (my new go to running store for everything… PS Utah people this store is at 11055 N Alpine Hwy #200 in Highland, Utah.  Let’s all go together one of these days).

Brooke was upset that they didn’t have any of the PureFlows in her size.

After I tried on every item in the store Sarah and I went next door to Blue Lemon for amazing salads.

DSC 7672

If you are wondering if I peed my pants… I didn’t.  Brooke thought it would be a really fun activity to pour ice cold water on my pants.  It was quite refreshing.

It is crazy to me that Brooke is old enough to get a kids meal.

IMG 3253

Sarah and I both got her favorite salad.  It was amazing.  It was filled with chicken, pecans, feta cheese, fruit and topped with a raspberry vinaigrette.

IMG 3256

And we all shared some sweet potato fries with a dipping sauce that was spicy and sweet.

IMG 3257

Remember how I was obsessed with the ABC Family show ‘Make It or Break It’ (a show all about gymnastics)?  Because now two times a week I get to go with my sister and her family to the gymnastics gym to practice my gymnastics skills.

I’ve got a lot of work to do.

DSC 7697

Dinner was another baked potato.  When it is cold outside baked potatoes always sound so good.  Expect to hear about them for the rest of the winter.

Another night with the Paige on her couch…   This Extreme Cheapskates show is really interesting and they are giving me some great ideas on how to save money… i.e. eat your friend’s leftover Halloween candy instead of buying your own.  I saved at least $1 last night.

I love Sarah’s hair by the way!
My kids always spill something on restaurants but I spill stuff on myself as well. At least I have someone to blame it on now though!

my favorite tv show ATM is the mindy project. it’s so cute! my husband just quit crossfit and we decided to join a gym instead, which is a huge way to “save money” when it comes to fitness memberships!

I loved Make it or Break It! I missed the last season and I really need to find out how it ended…

The table next to us dropped a bottle of syrup (little glass bottles at Cracker Barrel) and syrup splattered all over my mom’s feet and purse. :(

I am hooked on Homeland! I’ve also been watching Hostages lately.

Cute shirt :)

I once spilled coffee all over myself after not putting the lid on my cup on tight enough… Needless to say, now I’m kind of paranoid so I end up checking the lid at least 3 times before I take a sip, and even then I hold it out like a goofball so that it won’t end up on me if my lid skills proved to be lacking.

We have a local running store called Start Fitness in our town. They have two local stores and an online shop which is really good. They recognise me know which is nice :)

My husband worked as a waiter, and once spilled an entire chocolate milkshake over a child. The child was stunned for about a minute and then screamed and screamed! He felt so bad.

The last show I watched was….. Downton Abbey! I’m so hip. Season 4 is so good.

I now work at a running store and it has quickly become my favorite place to spend time (and money). I have a hard time not buying everything so maybe I should take lessons from that show too…

Reply

I work at a running store so I would have to say that store is the store I like the best! :)

When I was younger we were at a restaurant and the waiter spilled ketchup into my mom’s purse…

I shop at Aldi for a lot of my groceries (this would be our biggest bill over the week), they have natural and organic foods so I feel good buying it still!

Last show was Person of Interest

Although I don’t watch football I am addicted to The League. Also, how do you have so many sandwich and salad shops were you live? Its just not fair!

As far as saving $ I try not to go out to lunch at work but once a week. I was spending 50 $ a week there for awhile indulging in junk.

We don’t have a good running store near us, so we tend to spend most of our money on runningwearhouse.com to buy all of our running gear! love it so much!

Reply

We have a local running store that was started by one of the local high school cross country alum who was super speedy! I usually go there to get all my shoes and other exciting stuff! I love to support local people who truly enjoy what they do! Not to mention he definitely brought something to our community that wasn’t here before! A specialized running store…totally up my alley ;)

And I totally have kids, so I’ve more things spilled on me than I care to admit…that goes without saying I’ve had many different things spilled on me too haha!

The last TV show I watched was Biggest Loser last night.

We have a specialty running store, Sound Runner, by us that I love. I ran with their running group to train for my first marathon. It was great.

I’m sure I have a good spill story, but I can’t think of one right now.

The biggest tips I can share for saving money are:

1. understand why you are spending what you do, when you do, and where you do.

2. if you are working with a partner(s), learn, listen, and understand number 1 about him/her/them.

3. be respectful and polite with all communications related to money.

4. set goals like you would for running.

My husband has very, very different spending habits than I do. We’ve chosen to shift our spending bit by bit, and while I thought we could have done it faster I had to allow him time to change. I also had to remember to compliment him on his changes, as opposed to being, “well, if we had done it sooner, or you had listened to me…”

Yesterday I said to him, “look, I know you don’t like talking about money, but I’m approaching this from a running angle. If you wanted to lower your times, what would you do?”

We talked about a plan, about goals, about having a big picture, and he was completely on board.

He’s also agreed to turn the money over to me, as I manage it better. Thankfully he’s agreed to give up all credit cards, everything, so I can work out a system that I know works for us. The means my buying everything, but consulting with him completely.

We’re in this together, and that means that his thoughts and views are fully respected. He brings in far more than I do, and I appreciate that. We, however, have had to learn to make things work deeply and in some very unique moments.

We have and are, and the great thing, is that my husband trusts and respects me, too. He knows that he has a true partner in me.

So, trust and respect are money saving tips, too!

Last show I watched was Modern Family, its the best.

I used to work at a restaurant when I was in university, and I spilled a lot of food and drinks on a lot of people. I don’t think it was the best idea for the klutziest person to get a job carrying trays of food and drinks…lol

I miss Make It or Break It :(!! I love Fleet Feet!!! I feel that I don’t go there enough ;). My boyfriend spilled water on himself once, it defiantly made it look like he peed himself, and being such a wonderful girlfriend, yes I laughed haha. To save money, anytime I go somewhere, I make sure I don’t bring money with me, then I’m not tempted to spend any.

The Run Colorado store here in Denver is amazing! So is Runners Roost. But if I had to pick one, I’d go with Run Colorado.

The only rule I really stick with that helps me to save money is to never buy clothing or shoes at full price – wait to find a coupon or for sale. It helps a bit and also keeps me from making spontaneous purchases – gives me time to really think about if I need something or not.

Pacers is sort of the DC local store, but I shop at Roadrunner sports and usually online because apparently the running stores of the world are shocked when wide footed people show up and NO, I DO NOT WANT MEN’S SHOES.

My running stores here in Ottawa are Running Room (down the street from me) and Sports 4 (a little far for me).

As soon as I saw the 1st pic I knew where you were at cause that is the running store I usually go to! They always have great deals/sales and then I ‘have to’ go to blue lemon when I am done ; ) That is one of my favorite salads. Yum! Next time you go can we please meet up? Barbacoa and roxberry are also right by there and I still get the $1 meals and $1 green smoothies. So I feel like I would be helping you with being a ‘cheepskate’ Just sayin:)

I was out to eat with my family one afternoon and spilt 2 drinks in the same meal. After the second drink the waitress brought me a kids cup. AND I laugh when bad things happen so I was cracking up and my mother was furious. Not a good lunch.

Vanderpump Rules. Yes, I love that show. What has my life come to these days?!?

I’m sure you’ve been to 26.2…? I like that one, but I definitely need to check out this new one you’re speaking of!

I have countless stories about me spilling on myself. It’s kind of ridiculous actually. Oh, and if I’m wearing white, I’m DOOMED.

Best tip for saving money? Budget and use self control. I don’t coupon much. I actually find that I buy extra stuff we don’t really need when I’ve tried to coupon since we buy mostly fresh stuff like meat, fruits, veggies, etc. How often do you see coupons for fruit? Yeah, not often.

Last TV show I watched was Parenthood. My all-time favorite show.

Reply

I try to avoid running stores so I don’t spend my entire paycheck. haha. I feel like I see all these things I think I “need” but really don’t.

My BF and I went to Café Rio for the first time a few months ago (I had to stop when I saw it since you always talk about it. It was pretty good!) and I spilt ice cold water all over my jean shorts. SO cold and uncomfortable, but we had to go to Costco afterwards so I had to suck it up.

The show Extreme Couponers is so intense – like breaking the law intense. One woman made her children steal the Sunday coupon inserts from the papers their neighbors’ driveways. I’m all about saving money, but really? I steal my boyfriend’s candy, too.

I actually, literally, spill chocolate on myself every day that I wear my white khakis. But never on the day I wear black, obviously. And somehow I manage to not notice it until it’s melted and smeared all over me.

My husband saves money like a boss, no lie. All of his buddies call him little bird, because he’s cheap, cheap! We don’t go anywhere without some sort of coupon. We also wait to buy anything we want or need until it’s on sale. It’s not glamorous but it works.

Sole 2 Soul (http://www.sole2soulsports.com) is my local running store and it’s awesome! They even guarantee their shoes for 30 days. The last TV show I watched was Pretty Little Liars. Saving money tip: I buy no red meat. It’s usually expensive and not super good for you.

So I watched the first episode of Extreme Cheapskates on Netflix last night. I can’t watch it again. I was too grossed out by several of the things I saw. My youngest daughter, on the other hand, loved it.
My favorite running store is right next door to one of my offices. Perfect location!

Reply

My favorite running store is Marathon Sports – they have several locations in Massachusetts and I think 3 of them are right on the Boston Marathon course – (if you look at the course online -Wellesley, Brookline, and then one right at the finish line on Boylston St in Boston).

My Dad and I went to a college football game (SEVERAL years after I graduated). After the game, we went over to the dining hall for dinner. I gathered up a good feast on my tray and while trying to balance the tray and get a drink at the same time, the entire tray tipped INTO me, covering my pants with all of my dinner fare. The entire assembly of 18-21 year olds went silent. BUT I didn’t see anyone laughing. They were very kind and it was more like “oh, I feel bad for her!”

I did manage to fill my tray up again but it was a very uncomfortable, soggy dinner after that. Not pleasant! =)

I watched the Biggest Loser… it is better this year now that they have cut out a lot of the drama and drawn-out weighing-in.

I’m currently trying to save money by cutting out Starbucks…which is hard in the winter, especially with those tasty gingerbread lattes!

Thanks for posting the Utah Run store! We might be heading down that way this weekend and I think that’d be a great store to hit up! We have a running one here in Providence, UT – I pass it every day – I might have to stop in BOTH!

Last show – Burn Notice – my favorite. If you’ve never watched it on Netflix, do. You’ll be addicted. Fiona is a great strong female character in that show.

Thing I’ve spilled? I remember walking UP a set of stairs at one of the libraries I worked at – and somehow tripped with a huge stack of books in my arms – so high it was stacked under my chin – and of course, when I tripped going UP – they went FLYING EVERYWHERE. All I could do was lay on the stairs and laugh at myself. Now, I watch my step!

Also – thanks for posting about Cafe Rio. We have one here in Logan, and my husband and I have never tried it – it’s exactly like Costa Vida (except Cafe Rio was open on Sunday and the other isn’t)? I’m always mindboggled at how some chains can be identical? Like Chipotle and Qdoba? And Paradise and Panera? Hmmm. Must be a location thing.

I love couponing! I save tons of money on groceries, and my best tip for saving money is always shop at Target! They let you use a manufacturer’s coupon plus their own store coupon on the same item, so you can save lots!

We have Second Sole and Achilles Running. Second Sole is my fave!

The first time I brought my boyfriend to meet my entire family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents), one of my cousins spilled a cup of hot coffee all over me so the movie my boyfriend and I were planning to go to got scrapped in favor of going home to dry pants.

I LOVE the walking dead lately. They are all on netflix!

I spill on myself a lot unfortunately because a) I am clumsy and b) i talk with my hands A LOT so i typically knock stuff over. pair that with lots of wine, and it can be a mess. it is a running family joke that the curse gets passed down because my dad is the same way and he always breaks wine glasses and stuff when talking with his hands

We have a number of local running stores in my area – which is nice when I have the $ to spend (not so nice when I shouldn’t be spending any money on running clothes).

Once my sister spilled her entire glass of milk in my lap at a restaurant. It was so gross (especially as it started to dry). She spilled it at the beginning of the meal – so I was ready to leave before the food was even ordered ugh…

My best money saving tip of right now – use cash. I’ve started carrying cash for certain shopping trips (groceries, fun shopping etc.) and it definitely makes me think twice before putting something in the cart. It’s a little more painful to hand over that 20 then to just swipe my card…

Reply

I have a couple of running stores near me but the people aren’t very… nice? They just try to sell you product (which I know is needed) but they don’t seem to LIKE to talk about running. It’s weird. They make you feel uncomfortable if you bring it up? Lol

My worst experience was spilling coffee on myself in college and having to walking around campus in white capris with a runny/brown stain at my crotch. Yeah…

Is there anything better than a running shoe wall?!?!

There are two main local running stores in my area, I actually work at one now! It is called Pacers, we have a few locations. I just started and love it. The discount on stuff is awesome too! I just bought a pair of the Brooks Glycerin 11 last night!

Best tip for saving money… you won’t like this one… I never eat out during the week. It saves me bundles!! And my running appreciates the more wholesome food.

Garry Gribbles is our local running store, and I pledge my loyalty to them for life. The people in there are so wonderful– they treat everyone like a runner, whether they run a 6 minute mile or they’re in the first week of the couch-to-5k program. They genuinely care about people– and they remember my kids’ names, which is a major win for me. Adore them. Adore the poo out of them. Seriously, so wonderful.

My favorite running store is Marx running and fitness- it’s the best. Plus they have an outlet store with all the older models of their shoes/clothes:) yippee!
I am the biggest clutz- it’s usually me who does the spilling. On me. And everyone around me. Lol. Plus I’m not allowed dark colored beverages in most peoples living rooms((sigh)) it’s a tough life being so uncoordinated.
I have soo many tips about saving money- first -stop using cards! Pay cash for things, and my friend once passed on a tip to me-she froze her credit cards in glasses of water and put them in the freezer. That way if she wanted to use a card, she REALLY had to want it!

I work at Napa Running Company so I am a bit biased towards it! I love the community that is involved with running stores. Its such a great way to meet people and learn about the local running community.

Now that I am pregnant I pretty much have crumbs on my belly after every meal. Its very attractive. Even more attractive when I eat those crumbs….

I used to LOOOOVE Make It or Break It! It’s so good!! The last show I watched was The Good Wife, which I also love. I spill things on myself all the time, so I go into the bathroom at work and try to wash my pants in the sink. Okay, so I read your post this AM and remembered the couponing question. I just saw the BEST deal that my SIL posted on FB. If you type in “Fisher Price Share the Joy” on Google and click on the link, you can select from 3 coupons, each worth $10 (if you share the deal with a friend – I emailed my mom so I could get the $10 off coupons) or $5 if you don’t want to share. You can print each coupon twice. My SIL did this and ended up with $60 in coupons to buy my nephew’s Christmas presents. Needless to say, he’s going to have a pretty awesome Christmas! I’m sure Brookers could use some Fisher Price/Little People/Imaginext toys for Christmas…. :)

What a fun day!

I am a couponing machine! I can’t even remember the last time I paid full price for toiletries (mostly toothpaste), haha. With my small apartment I can’t hoard so I donate a lot too, which makes me feel good about couponing!

I coupon but never end up using the coupons because they’re never any products that we buy! Pointless but a relaxing weekend morning… I’ve spilled too many things to count and hopefully I don’t pass that trait onto my future children. Although, the chances aren’t looking good since my husband does it too :P

Reply

I haven’t been to a running store in our area yet.

I am not a couponer but my sister was and I try to save as much at the store as possible. They don’t make a lot of coupons for the stuff I buy. Fortunately our local grocer has a good savings app where you can view your add, get coupons and they track what you buy and then offer you those things on a special called Just 4 U. I generally save around $20 at the store, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Last show I watched was Alaska the last frontier

I was just thinking today at lunch that every single salad should have three things: raspberry vinaigrette, pecans (candied pecans = bonus points) and dried cranberries!

I love the idea of coupons and saving money (who doesn’t?) but sadly I am somehow too lazy to seek them out and cut them out. In fact, this level of laziness is probably so sad I shouldn’t be sharing it! : )

This is really gross, but a few weeks ago my 17 month old son came down with croup and then stridor (which is really scary). I had to take him to the ER and they gave him a syringe of steroids to open up his airways. He ate a few crackers after this and some juice and then within 10 minutes of the treatment threw up all over both of us. Luckily, I had a change of clothes for him, but I had to sit there for the next 2.5 hours stained and smelling like vomit. Yes, I cleaned it up as much as possible, but there’s only so much smell you can get out.
Being vomited on is way worse than getting pooped on or peed on. Trust me.

My best idea for saving money at least with kids involved is consignment sales. In the fall and spring around here they have tons of consignment kids sales ( churches, elementary schools, etc). I consign and I buy. So this year I made $75 at one sale and I spent about $150 total to cloth both my girls for the fall and winter- so if you factor in the money I made, it is only $75. I get great brands too, like Carters, Hannah Anderson, Gap, Lands end, and Mini Boden. I often find shoes that have never been worn, especialy for my younger daughter. I also look for toys, if they are in great shape I do use them for gifts for my girls. My oldest has wanted a leapster and I found one at a sale for $4 along with 8 games, it works great. This year I also got a stack of pants for my oldest for 50 cents each! Now if I see some items that are a splurge, I get them because i saved on other items in their wardrobe.
Restaurant.com and groupon are also great places to save money. I also get memberships to places that are reciprocal to other places. We belong to a nature center that is reciprocal with many science museums and gardens. It has paid for itself in 2 visits to museums!
Goodluck at Ragnar. I found out yesterday that basically running is “no longer in my best interest” due to a condition in my knee. So I am giving myself a week to feel sorry about it and then putting all my efforts to getting the knee well enough to do other exercise ( I am in PT and still a month away from being released for exercise). I guess I will just have to read about it on blogs.

I have ZERO running stores :( :( small town problems. The nearest mall is 2 hours away!

My saving tip is to not spend anything. Seriously, I can’t spend money! When I have to though, I always go for sales. Generic food brands, clearance clothes.

We have Ultramax Sports in our area which I am very pleased with. They have a store both in my hometown and where I go to college! I like buying my shoes from them to support local businesses (they only have 3 stores total)
Since becoming a college student, I have a really hard time spending money. On the rare occasion I do go shopping, its either for something I absolutely need or groceries. I basically only buy things that are on sale and I’ll do a quick search for coupons for the things I plan on buying. I like to think I’m thrifty as opposed to cheap :)

I work at Runner’s Corner in Orem, UT & LOVE. IT! Only runners work there so they’re all super knowledgeable & have a lot of experience. Way good selection of stuff. My favorite job I’ve had just because you always ear awesome stories from people about how they started running, what motivates them, crazy survival stories when they were running alone, etc. runners are just awesome.

I’m a single mom and definitely a coupon shopper. I’ve watched extreme cheapskates, but haven’t had to go to that extreme just yet. I haven’t been to a running store, but want to go to one in my area to see what kind of shoes would be best for my feet.
