I forgot to tell you…

This last Saturday was my THREE YEARS of blogging anniversary. That is kind of a lot of blogging. You’d think I would have figured out proper spelling and grammar after that many blog posts… I’m working on it;)

You’ve been there through the ups (my favorite up ever—>BROOKE) and the downs and stuck by me through it all. Thank you. I appreciate you more than you will ever know.

You can check out my first post ever HERE! Life sure has changed over the last three years.

First post:

—————————–

I am flying out to NYC this morning (yes, I realized I could have skipped 9 hours of flying by just staying out there in between events but I had to have at least a few hours with Brooke) and I will be back to Utah for good on Wednesday.

Brooke and I had a perfect morning together.

DSC 7031

My workout was foam rolling. Lots of it because those hills from the three races ate my quads and right IT Band alive.

IMG 2761

Icon Fitness gave me this awesome 3-in-1 foam roller (you can find them cheapest at Walmart) —> A massage stick and a high and low density foam roller. All three saved my life at some point this weekend and you have to admit that it is kind of cool that they can all fit in the big blue foam roller.

Screen Shot 2013 10 21 at 11 20 45 AM

Brooke is so incredibly generous with her food (at least one of us is). She will try and feed anyone and everyone that is near her when she is eating.

DSC 7032

She is also obsessed with the piano lately and dances while she plays (video coming soon).

IMG 2772

We also had an intense conversation with Maggie.

IMG 2771

Paige dropped off airplane necessities right before I left. Nothing like new music and candy.

The SLC airport has Cafe Rio in their food court. You know where you can find me.

How fun! That is an awesome first post! I will have been blogging for three years on december 21st. So I guess that puts you exactly two months ahead of me! :D

My blog is Overflow at http://Proverbsnineteen21.wordpress.com
…running aches and pains are all over right now. I’m just starting my 3rd week of running with a double stroller (my second is 6 weeks old!) and I’m feeling it everywhere. Mostly in my tired feet though!

Reply

yay happy 3 years!! so glad you blog :) i’m 11 months in.

I started blogging about 5 months ago! It made my summer and my training a million times more fun! I started as a way to share my Chicago Marathon training with others, but now that it’s over I’m going to keep blogging because it’s so great.

I don’t have any particular running pains right now…one week ago I would’ve told you that even my face was sore…probably because I was so happy to have ran a PR and smiled a lot. So that counts as running related right?

Reply

Congratulations on 3 years! I hope you’ll continue- I love following your stories and you were one of my main influences to start my own! I’m still super new- my blog has been up for about 2 months now. http://www.jgoingthedistance.com

I’ve been blogging off an on since 2009- but I only had about 8 posts in 2009. Ha! 2012-2013 have been much more consistent, thought I admire you for posting everyday!

I think it’s so sweet you had to go home to see Brooke even if it was just for a little while. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Reply

I had to look it up, but I started blogging in August 2008. But I’ve gone from 100+ posts a year to this year, where I’ve had I think 15. (Been a busy year.)
And I was just super tired for my run today. The bad news I received last night (latest blog post) meant a pretty restless night for me.

Reply

Yay for you! I, too, love reading about your day-to-day activities and seeing how adorable Brooke is. I’ll never be as speedy as you, but I get motivated to do the best I can when I read about your training runs, races, and workouts. Great job, Janae! I’m fairly new to blogging… about 6 months now: http://skinnykimmierunsit.blogspot.com

This is my second blog, and I started it about a year and a half ago. I had a different blog for about three years before that!

My quads are a little sore bc I ran for 25 minutes straight on Saturday night! I know that’s not much considering last year this time I was three weeks from a marathon, but with all the health issues I’ve been having, I was shocked that I could do it and it felt as awesome as finishing the marathon!

Safe travels and happy blogiversary!!!

Reply

I didn’t realize we had been blogging roughly the same amount of time. I’ve learned and met so many great people through blogging (we will meet and race together some time!)

That’s great you were able to see Brooke for a few days but makes for so much travel. (Might as well just staying until NYCM now ;))

My marathan ate my quads alive also…the hills were crazy hard and never ending!!!…I actually thought the downhills felt worse! At the end someone was yelling it’s all down hill from here and it almost made me cry nooooooooo! :)

I’ve just looked it up and am a bit freaked to discover my blog has been running almost exactly 3 years as well! However, I have a much much smaller reader base than you :) all the blogging advice I read tells me to blog regularly and stick to one subject. Happy three years of blogging!

Ha. My blogging history. So I had an early prototype of a blog/site on Angelfire, Tripod, and Geocities in the dark ages of Internet history, and I remember when Blogger first started in 2000(ish?) because I had a couple of them. I’m both sad and glad that I can’t access them anymore, hah. Then I hopped to LiveJournal for a long while, and then back to various blogs on WordPress and Blogger. I’ve been kinda blogging for a long time! Unfortunately, I’m not always consistent, so I’ve never gained much traction, but I do like to write and share when the mood strikes me :) I hope to be more consistent in the future and maybe get a little Internet famous? Haha.

Brooke is so cute, with her mouth open and tongue out while she feeds you!

I have been blogging for about 9 months. I actually started my blog shortly after your post about how to get started with blogging. I had been considering it for awhile, and that was the final push I needed :)

Currently my lower left leg/shin is being a big pain. It has stopped my marathon training dead in it’s tracks (training for my first full on Nov. 16). I had an awesome 20 miler two weeks ago and felt fine after and then 3 days after that my shin started hurting even just while walking. I’m cross training for now, but I’m really worried about what’s going to happen to my endurance and the rest of my training, and what may happen with my first full if my leg doesn’t feel better.

As for aches and pains, I ws recently diagnosed with avascular necrosis/osteonecrosis of my left knee and what is possibly torn cartilege. I am on meds and am to try PT and no excercise for 6 weeks. If it is the necrosis causing the pain then I will not be able to run again until I qualify for a knee replacement (the necrosis is not quite there but very impressive) and at age 37 I want to put that off as long as I can. I am very upset about the diagnosis!

Getting back to some races in the next year myself.

Reply

Janae,
You were the first person I wanted to talk to about when it comes to an injury. I don’t really know what my question directly is.. So I’ll just ramble a bit :)
I just started running races and fell in love hard (big time!!). I ran a 5k and my mom, sister and I planned a trip around a 10k in Canmore Alberta. Anyway, we travelled to Alberta (I’m from Ontario), and the day of the race, I was sick. I took some gravol and felt comfortable with running after lots of water and laying in bed. I got to 4.78km of the run when my knee dislocated. It went back into place, but I was done and could not walk, let alone run. I gotta say, the support that I had from other runners absolutely blew my mind and still makes me tear up! This was on Sept 8 Ps.. So, when we got back to Ontario, my knee didn’t hurt that much but I took time off running to heal and hung out on the elliptical and did extra weight sessions. I decided on Sept 28 that I was ok (didn’t see a doctor.. What a dork move that was..) and decided I was fine to run 8 miles. I was ok during the run, but the next day, exactly 3 weeks later, I fully dislocated my knee again bending over to pick up a bag on the floor. I was sent by ambulance to a hospital and it was put back into place. I have seen my doctor and I to get X-rays, am being referred to an orthopaedic doctor and have been prescribed an anti inflammatory. I still have intense pain and cannot bend my knee. The worst is the emotional part.. I just got a puppy (a PUG aka the cutest) and can’t take care of him (walks and all the fun stuff!). I feel like I am wasting away and am now a huge couch potato. A doctor/coworker of mine said I would need surgery. I cannot even think about that without tearing up and eating too much ice cream. I think I need support/advice/encouragement and success stories from other runners with a similar injury. I’ve been lifting weights for upper body only and still feel like crap about my abilities. Healing is taking forever and I jus want to stay in shape so I can run again and get that kick butt feeling! I feel lost and like I lost part of my identity with this injury. Help!!

Reply

Hey girl,

I know exactly what you are feeling right now. I am a D1 cross country runner and had a similar injury. Back in February, I started getting some knee pain. It got so bad that I had to stop running. I went to the doctor, got an MRI, and nothing showed up. I went through 6 weeks of PT (missing my entire senior high school track season) with no improvement. My option was either to get exploratory surgery and hope they could solve my problem or deal with it and not run. Obviously I chose the surgery. I am just now coming back into running over 5 months later. It was a really hard time in my life knowing I would be going into college and cross country season injured. I know how you feel. Just stay positive and do what you can. I did lots of upper body lifting as an outlet for stress until I could bike and swim again. I have not had a kick butt run workout in just about a year and I miss it greatly. Just know that you will find a way to run again and that you are not alone. Hope this helps and stay positive!!!!

Reply

Thank you so much!! You’ll get there and be running again in no time! Good luck with your recovery! You’ve come so far already!

Thank you for sharing your life via blog! I look forward to reading every darn day :)

Ps gotta get me that 3way foam roller!

Reply

I have that roller! It was really cheap – like twentysomething dollars – from Kmart online, of all places. I like how compact it is. I don’t have a lot of storage space.

I’ve only been blogging since June but I haven’t missed a day! meggorun.blogspot.com

I LOVE your blog and I am so grateful for you and the inspiration you bring day in and out :)

I’m spankin new at blogging and you have made me want to do it for ME and not anyone else. Thanks so much! You’re awesome

Congratulations on the blogging anniversary! You are my blogging inspiration, even though my blog has nothing to do with fitness. Ha Ha! http://momtimes4.com/

I’ve been blogging close to 8 years, although my latest blog is only a little over a year old. I started blogging when I first got sober because I needed some place to write about the struggle, including trying to come to terms with my childhood.

Now my blogging is more about just life in general, being a mom & the wife of a swimmer… and RUNNING! Which I finally took up again after a 20 year hiatus. And I write about trying to learn to play the guitar, which I kind if stink at, lol. Too obsessed with running to practice like I should. http://soveryslightlymad.wordpress.com

I’m dealing with capsulitis of the second metatarsal. It’s on the mend (knock on wood, especially as I have a half marathon in less than 3 weeks).

Love your blog, btw. I bet you never get tired of hearing that :)

I’ve been blogging for about a year and a half, but only really consistently for six months. (Www.Clean-project.com)

I’ve loved reading everyone’s hat trick posts, what an inspirational weekend!

I’ve been blogging for just over a year, and I’ve already made so many great friends.

Yes, I am having some issues! My IT band is acting up and I’m not exactly sure what to do about it. It’s definitely thrown a wrench in my training.

I’ve been blogging only as long as I’ve been running. 6 months or so. Follow me at . I’m not that interesting, but it helps me remember everything :)

I’m just a little sore from my half marathon Saturday. I should be feeling back to normal tomorrow.

I loved reading about your trip. I followed you and skinny runner and Monica all weekend and pretended like I was there meeting all of you :)

Happy blogiversary! I’m so glad you got a few moments with Brooke before you sped off on another adventure! Those little moments count!

I’ve been blogging since I was 15 (so almost 11 years), but the blogs when I was 15 were all about boys and them breaking my heart. Now my blog focuses on my running and lifting. My how 11 years can change us.

Congrats!! I really love reading your blog and like so many others have said, it inspired me to start one as well. http://www.running-towards-joy.blogspot.ca

Congrats on the blog AND the race this past weekend! My goal is to be there next year! I started blogging in July this year so I’m still far off from making it my job. ;)

Happy three years!! I’ve been blogging since we studied abroad in Sweden as a family in 2009, then I took a break when we got back, but I missed blogging so much I started a new blog (this one!) and have been blogging here for 3.5 years, but I kept it a secret from people I actually know, and just have randomly started letting people in on my little secret :) http:/youngmammatales.blogspot.com which by the way I need to change the name of my blog at some point, since I was a young mom when I started (22-23) and not such a young mom anymore (27)

Congratulations on 3 years of blogging!! Have an excellent trip to NYC :)

I’ve only been writing my current blog for a few months but I’m loving it. https://runningcowgirl.wordpress.com

No running training for me right now. I’m recovering from my first marathon, so lots of foam rolling for me :)

Your awkward post rocks, it’s you and that’s what we love.
I stumbled on your blog a few months about. Around Mayish I think.
I blog over at http://www.runmum.com not much but hey i like it.

I have been blogging off and on since July 2010. I was blogging a lot last year and then stopped, so I am just getting back into it again. I really enjoy doing it and reading other’s blogs as well. You can find my blog at

I’ve been blogging for about a year, not so much frequently as I am a new mom and still trying to find a balance on how to manage my time : )

After reading this blog for so long, I have officially made it my life’s mission to visit a Cafe Rio. Not only do we not have them where I am from, I have never even seen one in person! So it’s going to be a challenge. But I’m determined.

That foam roller looks amazing! I desperately need one of those stick-type rollers.

I think I’ve been blogging for around two or three years… I’m not really sure! I have never celebrated my blogisversary, I don’t think. Which is weird because I am getting married in one year and made my fiance take me out for a one year pre-versary dinner on Friday :)

Congratulations! I can say I’ve almost had a month of really trying to blog daily. I can only hope to last THREE freaking YEARS! Go you!
Is it just me, or is Brooke getting cuter and cuter every day!?!?

Happy Blog Anniversary!

I actually started blogging 2 1/2 years ago. BUT I only blogged for less than 6 months and had some life stuff going on and chose to stop for a while. Well I ended up stopping for 2 whole years eek! I just started back up again a few weeks ago and I’m happy to be back at it. I’d love to have some more followers, so please go check out my blog! :)

I have lots of running related aches and pains right now! I just ran my 2nd marathon on Sunday and after a 10 minute PR and a BQ I don’t mind any of them!

Reply

Wow I wish my first post was at least funny, yours rocks.

I’ve been blogging for about a year and half and love it!

I actually have no idea how long I’ve been blogging. I think it might be about 3 years also. Crazy!

Happy anniversary!

I can’t make it to a midday froyo meetup [my work apparently frowns on me leaving for froyo dates :)], but let us know if you end up being able to do something in the evening. Regardless, have fun in NYC!

PS – I did my first 5 mile run Toni’s morning, which is making me feel kinda fancy. :)

Happy Blogiversary! I’ll hit my three year mark in January. I am still looking for a magic potion that will give me a few more hours each day to blog, but for now my posts are a bit spaced out. You can check it out here: http://kimberlyhuber.blogspot.com/.

Luckily I have no aches or pains right now other than a bit of soreness from my weekend long run.

Congratulations on 3 years of blogging! I just started blogging (and just started to get back to running after taken too many years off!). http://www.runningwithdenise.blogspot.com.

My blog will be 3 in December. I still remember when I started it my Mom said “that’s a lot of work” and “you have to post multiple times a week” and “who is going to read it”. Well that was just the fire I needed to prove her wrong.
She also thought I was crazy when I wanted to run a marathon and said “it’s too much work” and “you can’t train by yourself for one” but I did. And have completed 11 of them now.

Our anniversaries are so close. It has been one year. October 18,2012 was my first post. It was nothing exciting, just the start of blogging. I need to get better at it!

Technically, I’ve been blogging since 2003, however I stop and start a lot. I mean a LOT. My blog’s most recent incarnation began just last year but I’ve added my off and on blogging archives from 2009 on. :)

Blogging for about one month! You inspire me! =]

My whole body’s pretty sore (hips and knee especially) after my half on Sunday. WORTH EVERY MINUTE OF SORENESS!!! xx

Happy Blogiversary Janae! Your blog is truly one of my faves to read.
I started a blog this year and am on the fence as to whether or not I’ll continue for various reasons. Time, effort, content….I don’t have a lot of readers and I don’t feel like I have a lot going on that would interest others. I also struggle with ‘prettying up’ my blog. Right now I post about once a week, so perhaps I’ll try to continue at that rate – daily just isn’t happening.

Three years is awesome! Congrats! I am not quite sure how long I’ve been blogging but my best guess without looking is that it will be 2 years in February. And absolutely yes to the running aches. I am having the weirdest pain where my left calf meets my shin. Not happy about it since this is supposed to be my last high mileage week of training before tapering for my marathon. Boo.

I’m so happy you decided to start blogging because I look forward to reading what you have to say every day! I’ve been blogging for one whole year last week.

I just started blogging this past June! I’m a newbie. Probably have about 5 loyal readers outside of my family. =) I started with the hopes of saving my facebook friends from hearing every last detail about my running. They aren’t all runners.

Congrats on the 3 year blogaversary!

I just started my this month. I’m still working the kinks out of adding pictures.

I am having a bit of twingy (is that a word) pain on the side of one knee. I’ve been really careful to foam roll twice a day in the hopes that my IT band is just tight.
