Rise and shine.

You have to admit that running around in a new city is pretty darn exciting.

We all started out the day with a shake out run around town before all of the festivities got started.

Bethlehem is beautiful.

We got back from our run and had breakfast.  Nothing like eating yogurt parfaits with Mr. Bart Yasso.

I am just going to warn you that the entire day revolved around running and I was in heaven.

We had an awesome running clinic from Golden (he ran a 2:45 marathon at the age of 13 and he is the founder of Altra ((Fun fact—> I knew Golden long before he started Altra and he gave me one of his first experimental pair of drop-zero shoes seen here).

We took a recovery for runners class which was awesome but I am already sore from it.  I will teach you some of the moves that we learned later.

Summer Sanders the Olympic Champion and Runner’s World cover model (and tell me you remember her from the show Figure it Out) came to talk to us.  She lives in Park City and told me that we are going to run together someday.  I feel good about that.

You know I am going to frame this.

For lunch they made a bunch of different recipes out of their cookbook for us to try.  All of them were amazing, especially the banana oat energy bars.

Next up was the expo and we learned all about iFIT and took a group photo because it just felt like a good time to do so.

Last minute we decided to see the Spirit of the Marathon II and I loved it.  We all wanted to sign up for a million marathons (especially the Rome one) after seeing this.  Incredibly inspiring.

Monica, SR, Linda and I took in salads that we got from Ruby Tuesdays, popcorn and diet cokes.  Living the dream.

Time for a 5k at 8 a.m. and a 10k at 9 a.m.

Enjoy your day!

I kept seeing posts about Summer Sanders on various social media outlets yesterday and I thinking “Summer Sanders…” “Summer Sanders….” “Where do I know Summer San…” and then you went and burst the confusion bubble! FIGURE IT OUT! I can go on with my life now! Thank the goodness gracious. Just another one of the millions of reasons I will always and forever read this blog. Happy Saturday :)

I am so incredibly jealous. I went to college in Bethlehem (Moravian). I got to run all over that town since I ran cross country and track all 4 years. It is such a beautiful area! I ran last the rw 1/2 last year and loved every step. I ran Chicago last weekend so in still in recovery mode. Good luck and enjoy your time there!

Wow, I am super jealous! That looks so fun! Yes! I remember Summer Sanders show.

Good luck completing the Hat Trick, I’m sure you’ll be awesome!

On a note, because I feel like I can post here and get support on it (weird I know): I just broke up with my long term boyfriend, half a decade, and it’s hurting so badly and all I can think of is: Thank goodness I have a huge race this weekend where I can run out some of these horrible emotions. I saw an awesome thing that said, “Running is a workout. We work out our emotions during the run.” I just hope I don’t start crying during my actual race.

Wow that sounds so incredibly tough. I hope your race goes well, and just know that you will get through this!

Thanks, Emily. It is super thought right now but I am just taking it one mile at a time. I really appreciate your positive comment as thoughts right now!!

I’m a stranger, probably only commented on HRG a few times after years of reading it, but I’m definitely thinking of you. I hope you kick ASS this weekend and even if you don’t PR or anything, the fact that you are running during such a tough time is amazing. I’m not one of those people who can run to make a bad mood better (going through rough times actually makes my run harder!) so the fact that you are actually running a race during it is really impressive. When I broke up with my boyfriend of four years last year, I was so thankful that I didn’t completely devote myself to him and actually still had something (running! Plus friends and family of course.) to fall back on. Good luck on your race and sorry for hogging the comments!

Thanks so much Shauna! Stranger or not, it really helps to hear some encouraging thoughts right now and know that others have been there and made it through that. I don’t know how I’m going to get through the race tomorrow aside from sheer determination, a friend at my side, and stubbornness that centers around the fact that I won’t let this break up derail me. It’s definitely not easy but I’m going to just keep running. This races goal isnt a PR more a “I can do this and I will be okay” goal. Thanks for sharing a little about your story too, I appreciate it. It’s nice to be reminded of the immense support runners have for each other when they need each other, even if they don’t know each other. Thanks again!

Can you teach us all about ifit, please??? I have it on my treadmill and load my maps, but beyond that I have no idea about its cool features. I’m sure I’m missing out!

Hope you had a good race this morning!

OMG—FANTASTY DAY A LA JANAE!!!! How fun!!! You look like you are in absolute heaven.

Love that you are going to run with the Covermodel of Runner’s World. When I saw that, I thought to myself, “Janae is definitely going to be on the cover of RW one day”. You have that special “star quality”. For realz! Put that on your Vision Board and watch it manifest! It’s happening.

Love ya, have a great day running your buns off, eating loads of yummy stuff and hanging with all those fun-looking running peeps.

As a competitive swimmer before my running days, Summer Sanders was one of my idols growing up. So cool that you got to hang out with her. Sounds like an awesome event and great day!
