A new half-marathon pr

I had a great race this morning!  I wasn’t even sure I was going to run this race or not until my alarm clock went off this morning and I woke up excited to run.  I am really glad I did.

DSC 5525

Rachelle (in the back, she peeled off to the side for the finish… wasn’t running the race but saw me at mile 7 while she was out on her run and then somehow I convinced her to pace me for the rest of the race;) pushed me big time.  I am really thankful for her!

PS turns out my coach really knows what he is doing with this whole training program that he has me on.

1:25:29…. average pace of 6:29 and first place woman.   Hope you are having a great Saturday and I will have a race recap up in the morning.

I mean….that is just incredible! Huge PR for you! You will most definitely break 3 hours in the marathon (I’ve heard that the 1:25 mark for a half is a big indicator). I’m nowhere near as talented as you are, but I’m honestly considering this whole coach thing…I could really use some guidance!
That’s a fab race but I expect a play by play later ;-)

Reply

Reply

Holy Moly lightning speed!! Way to go lady!!!

Reply

Congrats, that’s amazing!

Reply

Congrats, girl! You’re AMAZING!

My 7 yo finished her first 5k today and took first in her age group. That’s the closest I’ll get to ever placing in a race so I am super proud of her. Can’t wait to see little Brooke when she gets to racing. :)

Reply

Damn women, you are FAST! Congrats!! Great picture with your friend in the background :)

Reply

I can definitely see the difference in your stride/form between older pictures and this one. You’ve got your knee driving forward ready for a forefoot landing instead of the heel striking I always saw before. I’m working a lot on fixing my stride too, hope it leads to a big PR for me too! :D

Reply

Wow! Great job! That is amazing!

Reply

Amazing Job!!! Great PR! It sure does look like your coach knows what he is doing!! Enjoy the rest of your Saturday basking in your awesomeness! :)

Reply

Congratulations!!!!! You are such an inspiration, and so many of us are rooting for you. Hope you enjoy national S’mores day with your awesome PR!!

Congratulations! Not many people get to say they won a race, let alone a big one like a half marathon. That’s a fabulous time and shows you’re well on your way to the sub-3 goal. I’m so glad for you. It’s a wonderful place to put your energy, isn’t it? Now, enjoy your recovery and relaxation.

I, meanwhile, am swimming. A lot. My hair has never been washed so frequently. Pool running in 4 days.

Reply

You look HAWT in that photo! nice job!

Reply

You are amazing! I PR’d (although nothing compared to yours) on a race that I also didn’t decide on until last minute. Sometimes I think our minds get in the way of our feet during training, and those last minute races keep that from having so much of an affect.
I hope youre celebrating your awesome run with lots of fro yo, brownies, cookies, and maybe a salad thrown in there for good measure ;).

Reply

Totally agree! Sometimes I think we place so much pressure on ourselves to PR and do well we forget to just have fun and enjoy the race. I find that when I just focus on having fun I tend to do a lot better and PR. I signed up for a local half the day before to use it as a training run and just for fun and ended up PRing by 5 min.

Reply

You guys are so right. My mind really slows me down sometimes so the pr races usually come when we least expect it. Have a great day Breanna and Ashley!

Reply

WOOOOOO Way to go!!

Reply

1:25?!?!?!?! Damn girl!! Congrats on the amazing PR.

Reply

Congrats Janae!! What a great time. I love the determination in your face- I was wondering about the woman cheering for you haha- glad you had a buddy to help you out.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

Just amazing. You prove that hard work and a solid plan pay off! A huge congrats to you, you inspire all of us!

Reply

Was Billy there to cheer you on?

Reply

How is that question relevant? My husband rarely comes to cheer me on, so what?

Reply

Haha, had to laugh when I saw this.. During most of my races everyone in my life is sleeping! The first couple they were there for – now they are like “oh, you’re running in the morning? That’s nice. See you after”

Congrats on the PR! You are fantastic! Seriously.

Reply

Someone sounds a bit bitter…

Reply

Nah, I have three little kiddos, rather he be at home taking care of them, lol.

Reply

OMG. No kidding. I have had recurring nightmares of my family (husband and kids) coming to watch me race and seeing them all bickering (or worse) on the sidelines! STAY HOME, PLEASE!!!! LOL

Reply

Haha actually I’d probably prefer that too :)

Reply

Wow! Congratulations on your PR! That was hard earned and well deserved. I love your blog – you inspire me to be a better runner. Looking forward to reading more about your race. Have a good weekend!

Being and doing well is the best response to haters! Once I ran a 6:00 mile on a treadmill and I died a thousand deaths. It was so painful. I have NO IDEA how you can do a half at a 6.30 pace. INSANE! You are amazing!

Reply

Wow. You never cease to amaze me.

Reply

You make me want to start training seriously again! I know it sounds weird, but I am so happy for you and knowing you got a PR kind of makes my day.
