We go a little crazy over…

Getting up to run early is close to a million times easier when you have friends to meet up with.  I did 8 recovery miles with some speedy chickas (one already runs a sub 3 marathon and the other is currently training for sub 3 for the St. George Marathon in October).  Besides the awesome conversation that makes the time fly by these girls have already motivated me even more to get that sub 3 soon.  Training with them a few times a week will make the world of difference.

These girls even inspired me to go to the gym and lift weights and do planks for a few minutes.

Darn those good influences.

We ran on the river trail which I loved because I rarely run on that trail anymore because I run when it is too early to be on it by myself.

The Anderson family goes a little crazy over peaches.  Each fall Utah produces the most delicious peaches and my mom buys boxes of them at a time.  4 peaches for breakfast is completely normal.

I am really trying to figure out Brooke’s face in the below picture.  I think there is a hint of jealousy that I am holding another baby along with a lot of happiness that she has a new boyfriend in her life.  This little one is just 6 weeks old and he is the sweetest.

IMG 0524

I am really lucky that a lot of my best friends from growing up still live in the area now that I am back.  She picked up Kneader’s salads (turkey/avocado/bacon) for us and we ate them at her house and talked for hours.

IMG 0512

Later on I picked up my sis to shop for Brooke’s birthday party!  Brooke is a little too intellectual for Target and decided to read as we went up and down every aisle.

Thank you again Target for robbing me.

IMG 0533

My new thing lately is going to a yoga class after Brooke goes to sleep at my gym.  It is the easy kind of yoga and super relaxing because let’s be honest…night time is the hardest time of day for me and this helps a lot!.  I like to come home, talk to one of my brothers on the phone and eat ice cream out of the carton while my mom walks in and takes a picture of me.

Be honest:  Do you love yoga or are you not a fan of yoga?

Who is running a fall race? Which one?  Anyone running the St. George Marathon?

What is your workout going to be today?

I would love to get into yoga. I think it’d be a great stress reliever and good for my body.

I have tried yoga, but generally think I’m too excitable for it! I don’t know if I have the patience.

I have two Fall runs coming up: the Run to the Beat in London (awesome – will have DJs around the track), and the Great North Run.

Today my workout is to stretch, do some abs and then go to a dance class!

I like yoga but need a good teacher. There is one at my gym who will literally lose her train of thought and then the left side doesn’t get the same flow as the right. It drives me nuts!! I am going on a 90 minute bike ride through DC today to explore a new running path for when I can run again!

I used to hate yoga and think it was boring but when I learned the spiritual practices around it I started to feel like I benefitted from it so much more. I also think the instructors make a big difference :-) Glad you are getting what you need from friends and family. Sending prayers.

I’ve only tried yoga once in college… I think I need to give it another shot!
I’m running my first full marathon on October 20, I’m excited and nervous!

Those peaches look amazing!!!

I really like Yoga but I am bad about making the time to do it. Sometimes I will go to a class, sometimes I will do it at home. I guess I don’t have the patience for it very often, although I am sure I would be a lot more patient person IF I made the time for more Yoga.

I’m glad to know I am not the only one Target robs on a regular basis.

I like yoga but not the super relaxing ones. For some weird reason they make me more anxious. I’m an oddball. Having running friends and friends from childhood are the best. I don’t live at home and I’m only in my town for a couple weeks of the year but I always love seeing them. They all know ice cream is the way to my heart. Obviously.

Reply

Not a huge fan of yoga but if I am going to do it I prefer hot yoga. I really should do it more often for the stretching benefits. Today’s workout is 12km run and some upper body work. Janae , you truly inspire me with your positive attitude:)

Love yoga! I practice 5-6 times a week.

My family and I are running the Akron Marathon Relay (for fun, not seriously!). I was jealous when my sister ran last year so now we are doing it together!

My workout was a hot flow yoga class this morning!

I am pretty sure that picture is Brooke’s ‘cheesin’ face, while keeping a close watch on mommy and that baby, to make sure he doesn’t try anything. That’s how I look when I’m cheesin ;)

I am hoping to get an easy 10 miles today. Training for Duke City (Albuquerque) marathon in October. Bring it! Yoga is awesome when I have time and motivation and I can only really do night yoga since it puts me to sleep (I always doze off at shavasana).

Reply

I like yoga, I do Bikram, which is 90 minutes and very hot, but it’s addictive. And I am hoping it will keep me lose for BERLIN! Sept. 29, going for a PR!

I always want to do yoga…but it doesn’t happen often. I do like it though- and my body truly appreciates when I stretch everything out.

This fall’s big race for me is the RW Half & Festival- doing the hat trick :)
(P.s. I really hope to run into you there!!!) Then I have another smaller half 2 weeks later. Fall running is the best!

According to my plan, today is an easy 5 miles.

Reply

I like yoga sometimes and only if I take it as a class. I rarely ever do it on my own. I only stretch on my own because I’m injury prone.

I’m semi-training for the Hartford Marathon in October. We’ll see if that pans out.

Reply

I’m running my first marathon October 27th! Rock n Roll St. Louis!! I’ve been working hard and I can’t believe there is only 2 months left! Before that I have a 10k and two half marathons around the St. Louis area.
P.S. I’ve been meaning to try that ice cream!

Reply

Brooker looks like a combination of jealousy and “Ooooh, it’s a baby!!” :) Super cute.

I like yoga. I always forget how much I like it when I get out of the habit of doing it. I miss actual yoga classes, but I’ve found that YouTube videos are almost as good! It’s not as good as running (clearly) but I think it helps me stay focused on being a healthy runner and balanced overall- plus the injury-prevention benefits are great!

I’m running a half marathon in October with my husband, and hopefully our FIRST EVER marathon in March, right before our 1 year anniversary :)

I’m hoping to run 5 miles after work, but I forgot about the rain… We will see how this works out! If not, then I’ll do 45 minutes of Pilates and half an hour of yoga.

Love yoga! :-)

I try to like yoga but it just doesn’t stick. When I go I like it but I’m never motivated to stay consistent with it.

Two fall races on deck: NWM 1/2 and Disney World Half.

Workout today: 3miles on the treadmill before the first day of classes. I like being able to tell my students who complain about taking an early morning class, “It’s okay, you could be me and have had to get up at 5am so you could run — miles before class. Now that’s early!” The look on their faces is always hilarious!

Reply

Workout today: about a million squats and lunges as I pick-up-a-weed-and-repeat!

I’m aiming for a race in November. Haven’t signed up for it yet though!

Reply

I used to do yoga a lot and felt so good after. My gym mainly has hot yoga so I don’t really do it.

Reply

I enjoy yoga when I feel like it challenges me. I have a hard time getting to the gym when I’m only going for yoga, but after the class when muscles I didn’t even know about are shaking like leaves I’m always glad I went.

Reply

I know yoga is good for me…. but I always opt to do some other kind of workout instead. whoops!

Reply

I am in a workout slump. I need to go to the doctor about my knee but I just do not want to and finding other forms of exercising is not appealing!! Not to mention that my 5 year old is just getting a little too old for the double BOB, not in weight but in whining for most of the walk. I have to find some new Bribes. She starts Kindergarten in 2 weeks and so my 2 year old who would stay in the BOB for hours and I will be kicking up my workouts more!!
As for yoga, I love power yoga but I let my Y membership go awhile ago and I have not found anything for a decent price around here. Looking closing for some groupon deals!

Nights are always the hardest but they will get easier. Just keep yourself busy!

Reply

I love yoga. I like the harder yoga classes that end with a few minutes of relaxation. that way I leave feeling like I got a good workout and stretch AND I leave more relaxed and calm than when I went in.

I was supposed to wake up early to do my easy 5 miler this morning, but my bed was just too comfortable. I guess I’ll have to do it after work now…

Reply

That picture of you is so cute. I wish I lived in Utah so we could be friends!!!!

Reply

I love doing yoga if the class is good, my attention span in yoga tends to waver after about 30-35 minutes. Lol: I am racing a 20 miler in Minnesota in a month (it’s a great distance to try) and a late November full –> just got to pick one: aiming for breaking 2:50

BTW: that ice cream flavor is fantastic :)

Reply

I just bought a ton of peaches on Sunday and had 2 for breakfast today ;)
I haven’t tried yoga, I’m intimidated to go when I don’t know the poses! But, today’s workout was a Pure Barre class – LOOOVEE these, you should definitely try one if you can! Running the BAA Half in October :)

Reply

Hahaha I would have to agree with you, Brooke does look a little unhappy in that picture, like she isn’t sure/okay with you holding that other baby. And again, she is just adorable, at least she’s getting a head start on her reading ;) No workout for me today, it is my rest day, and a much needed one at that!

Reply

That photo at the end is adorable. I love yoga. I havent been since i got into barre workouts (i mean, i can only afford so many studio memberships) but every now and then i really want to take a class again.

Reply

I go back and forth with yoga. There are days where I find it super easy to get into, and other days where I struggle with getting through 5 minutes. That being said, I usually do it alone, so I’d really love to try out a class to see if it makes a difference. And I spy red velvet ice cream <3

Reply

I go through phases with yoga sometimes I love it then I won’t do it again for months because I can’t get into it.

Today is an easy run though I’m not exactly sure how far that means I will go.

Reply

I do like yoga but it is the first type of exercise to go when I’m busy ;) I usually just do Jillian Michaels’ DVD of it though so maybe an actual class would motivate me more??

I’m contemplating a half marathon in a couple of weeks but I know for sure I am doing one in October. I’ve done it the past few years and it is the place where I first hit 1:30 in a half :) Someday I will sub that but I should attempt some actual speed training first, I think…

I cant wait to see pictures of Brooke’s party! !

Reply

I ran this morning and plan on doing yoga tonight. I love yoga and think night time is the best time to do it!

Reply

I do like yoga but I have trouble finding the time to make it to the classes. Also, I am really picky about the instructor. I find it hard to get into if the instructor annoys me in any way.

No workout for me today… still waiting for an injury to heal so I can only do arms, and I won’t do them consecutively. I may attempt some ab work later when watching tv.

Reply

I love yoga! Before I was pregnant I loved sweaty power flow classes that moved lots but in the last 3 months I have fallen in love with prenatal yoga – which is still a challenge!
No fall races for me this year, but next year you betcha :)
I am going to do the Tracey Anderson Pregnancy Project DVD at home tonight.

Reply

I’d like yoga classes more if it didn’t always smell like feet in the studio and I didn’t always end up next to the person who made the grunting noises… The first time I went to a yoga class, I just started laughing during the part where you lay still on the floor. I couldn’t help it. She was so hippie it just… I had to leave.

Thats funny!

That is great your gym offers a night yoga class. My dad died very suddenly at a young age a few months ago and nights are always the most difficult for me too…I know divorce/death are too different things but I kind of think they have similar grieving process…in the beginning nights were horrible but as time goes on they get a tiny bit easier. I found keeping busy at night the best thing too. Hang in there, I know it is crazy because I do not know you but I think about you and Brooke a lot and hope you are hanging in there.

Reply

Erin, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I completely agree with you, they have similar grieving processes! Thank you so much for your support and letting me know it gets easier. I really appreciate you!

I do love yoga. I found a yoga for runners on YouTube that I do after my runs, helps relax me after a run.

I’m undecided, but I’m running something this fall. My husband has family in NC so we may go there for thanksgiving, if so, I’m planning on a turkey day half there in NC. But if we stay home, I’ll run my first half on October 19, and then a 10k here on turkey day. I mean anything I can do to get out of cooking. Ha!

Tonight, I’ll do couch to 5k week 3, day 3 with my kids. Then maybe a few slow miles after they’re in bed depending on how my knee feels. It’s feeling rickety after my 10k race Sunday morning.

Reply

Love yoga, in fact I’m getting ready to head to a class right now. I think it’s a great compliment to running and helps to build a lot of strength and flexibility

Reply

i haven’t done yoga in ages and part of me doesn’t love it because it’s hard to stand still that long and my balance is terrible (like tipping over when standing still)! today’s workout will include some abs and cross training woohoo!

Reply

I’ve tried yoga but I really suck at it. My instructors always ask me if I’m a runner. I am really good at child’s pose and the nap thing at the end though.
I’ve registered for two halfs (halves?) this fall – one to race and one to have fun. The fun one is a backup in case I don’t PR.
Getting ready to head to gym for a barbell class, followed by a quick three miles on the treadmill.
As always, Brooke is completely adorable.

I need to try that ice cream!

I love yoga and wish my gym here offered it more often.

I am running a fall race. Just not sure which one yet.

Today’s workout will be lunges, squats and planks. Oh my!

Reply

“I like to come home, talk to one of my brothers on the phone and eat ice cream out of the carton while my mom walks in and takes a picture of me.” –> hahaha. Sounds like a great evening to me!

I HATE yoga. I like the nice-calm-stretching yoga to an extent, but hot yoga? Never again. I tried so hard to like it, but after a few classes I gave up and just admitted it wasn’t for me.

Reply

I’m dying just looking at Brooke sitting in that position with that facial expression. I think she’s thinking “maybe if mom is busy holding the baby, she won’t notice if I go finish off the tub of red velvet cake ice cream…” :)

I really like yoga, and I always forget how much until I start doing it again! I have a couple of apps on my phone that are pretty good (yoga studio and daily yoga), but I’ve done the you tube yoga thing too.

I am running Wineglass Marathon and NYC Marathon this fall. SO excited for both races!!

Not a fan of yoga.
I am running the kansas city marathon on oct 19th!!!!!! I am really training for 3:15! Writing makes me excited and nervous! Today’s workout is 8 easy miles. I wish I had someone to run with here!
I am going to start to try to run without headphones…it will be hard. I like to listen to podcasts and some really good music done by a church that I love. Some marathons have a rule that you cannot be listening to something if you want to place. we shall see how this goes!

PS. I LOVE ice cream :)!

Hey, miss. Sorry I didn’t stop by to say hi– when I realized it was the little miss’s birthday, I didn’t want to intrude. I need to find a good yoga workout to do at home (one that isn’t so much a workout as it is a cupcake for my stressed out body) because my hip flexors have been hurting like whoa after babe #3 (really, just the right one. Which is weird.).

Doing the Kansas City half in October. I tried training for a full last year and it made me too sleepy. Someday I’ll be hardcore enough to give it another shot!

I have been really into yoga lately too, Lululemon runs a lunchtime yoga session every Wednesday down by the ocean in Vancouver and its just steps from my office so it has been my new thing. I look forward to Wednesday lunch hours all week, and it makes me feel like a new person afterwards. I totally see why you spend your evenings going.

To be honest, I’ve never really been a fan of yoga. Granted, I’ve only tried it once, but I did it during a really hard time in my life, and I found that it took all of my energy not to think about everything that was going on. It was too quiet and too peaceful for me at a time when I couldn’t be that quiet and peaceful. I would like to give it another try though. Now Pilates? Pilates is my class.

Running the Niagara Falls 10K in October!

P.S. I think Brooke is definitely trying to figure out why you’re holding another baby! Love that face.

Reply

I LOVE yoga! I am running a fall half in October. I am going for a PR this time. My run this morning was 8 early miles. I had to work early and am really surprised I got all the miles done and got to work on time without getting up earlier than normal. I was even on time.

Reply

Good morning! I absolutely love yoga. I only get to a class about once a week but try to do my own practice at home another night or two. I think it helps a ton for tight runners and strengthening, especially when I don’t belong to a gym! I’m running the Marine Corps marathon this fall and had an awesome progression run this morning. I’m more of a 3:50 marathoner than sub 3 (I wish – you inspire me!!) so hitting splits around 8:15 was a great success for me. I’ll take it! Have a wonderful day with your family.

Reply

Not a fan of yoga. My thinking is: I danced for 14 years, I know how to stretch myself. Also, one yoga instructor told us to breathe like Dark Vader…that was my breaking point lol

Had a 4 mile tempo run this morning. Trying to get back in shape for a 10k in October.

Reply

I love Bikram yoga…but I go through stages where I go as much as possible and then I don’t go at all for a while. I’m glad you found something to help.

I am part of the Blogger Event at the RW Half and Festival! I’ll see you there! I’m doing the hat trick :)

I ran hard the past few days, so today will be a body pump day.

Reply

Ugh, I should get back into yoga, the stretching really helped me not get injured.

No fall races for me, snow comes in Oct.. boo.

Still having some pelvis pain post partum so did a T25 cardio workout today, it’s good! I usually am not a workout video fan but this one is a killer.

I’m running my first half marathon in September! Its the Women’s Half and I couldn’t be more excited! Im part of a training group and we are doing a long run on Saturday and it will be my first time running with GU. I’ve never tried it, but know its so important on long runs. I’m going to try the Strawberry Banana GU, although I know more people like Chocolate. Wish me luck!!

Run Happy!

Today my workout is 1 hour of swimming + squats and abs. I’m enjoying my triathlon training so far!

I’ve never done yoga, but I think it would be something I would enjoy. We just don’t have any gyms close enough to make them worth going to on a regular basis.

No race plans for this fall yet, though I am considering a 50k.

Reply

I do yoga once a week. It is vinyasa yoga, and is very powerful and athletic. I kind of dread it beforehand. I do it on Tuesday nights, so I am already thinking about the half-pigeon I will have to work my piriformis into. Even though I always dread it a little, I am always glad I went. I sweat for over an hour, you can’t really think while you are doing yoga so my brain gets a rest, and I sleep like a baby after. I highly recommend it, especially for runners with tight hips (me!).

I love yoga! Got my speed work in this morning and I am about to head out to yoga. Not a bad way to spend the last day of summer!

I am training for Marine Corp Marathon. It is my favorite fall marathon..I am kind of ready to run it now!

I’m doing a late Fall marathon. Tucson, the first weekend in December. I’m so excited for this marathon. It will be my 14th and I feel like I haven’t been this focused or excited for a marathon in a while. I have BIG goals :)

Keep runnin’ Janae!

I LOOOOOOVE yoga. The hot kind. It is hard to fit it in my budget though. Why is yoga so expensive?!?!?!

I like yoga! I used to hate it because I couldn’t stop my mind from racing but now I love it, it helps center me!

I love yoga! I think it’s wonderful. So is Target even though I could spend all my money there in a heart beat.
No fall races yet. I’m just trying to make it through my marathon in 3.5 weeks! ah!!
Which leads to my guilty admission that I slept in instead of running this morning. Big mistake. But I’m so exhausted. This week will be really tough on my training.

Reply

I love yoga but hate taking the time to do it because I always get interrupted by someone.
I’m running the Philly Rock-n-Roll and I am so excited! The only problem is that it is non-refundable, and my speedwork has been replaced with a rest day because I have excruciating pain on the inside of both my knees whenever I run, and they are tender when I walk or sit. (Any clue what that could be?)

The 6 week old is adorable and so is Brookers. (Or Bookers? ;)

I’ve never done yoga, but the more I read about it, the more intrigued I become. Right now I just don’t have time to fit it into my schedule. Today’s workout was 45 minutes of lap swimming. I’m doing my long run (16) tomorrow because we’re heading out of town for a wedding on Thursday, and I doubt I’ll be able to get it in otherwise. I’m running Richmond in November. Less than 3 months to go!

Target robs me every single time I go there! And I keep going back for more! ;-) My daughter’s first birthday party is next weekend– I’m very nervous, haha!

I like yoga when I’m going through anything tough or am super stressed/overwhelmed. There’s something calming about being by yourself, focusing on something as simple as breathing and just relaxing. Happy you found something to soothe you these days!

Oh, Utah peaches! I don’t like peaches now, but when I was a kid, we went to Moab every summer to visit my grandparents, and we always picked peaches in the field behind their house – good memories!
I do like yoga, but never make enough time to do it! You are so going to get that sub 3 at your next race. Speedy lady!
My marathon is in less than 7 weeks, my training partner’s marathon is in less than 3, and I think I’m more nervous/excited for him! I get so pumped for other people’s races:)
Have a great day!!!

I am not a huge fan of yoga unless it is in a baking hot room but I’m trying to make myself be more into it because I know my body needs it! I don’t love yoga but I do it weekly because it makes a really good difference in my running and overall recovery from workouts.

I need to try yoga again. I gave up on it because I could never just quiet down my mind and enjoy it but I know that it would be so good for me.

I’m still up in the air about today’s workout. Still trying to figure out what these pesky thigh pains are all about. Might just stick to arms and abs but I’m dying to get a sweaty cardio workout in!

Can’t wait to hear all about Brooke’s party!

I love yoga after I do it but it is something that I have to force myself to go to. Speaking of which, yoga and cross training is on the schedule today. Tuesday is the day of the week that I have to force myself to workout. Would much rather be running.

I don’t mind yoga once or twice a week to help stretch out better but I’m not a huge yoga on it’s own fan. Sometimes I can get into it/clear my mind and it helps me relax, but usually I end up bored and can’t quiet my mind like i’m supposed to. Maybe sometime in the future that will change :P i am currently training for my first full marathon in erie, pa on september 15. Last long run of 20 miles this weekend and then i start my taper…and go crazy in the process ;)

You’ll accomplish that sub-3 soon! Glad you have such a great support network around:-)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOGA! I started it because I had IT Band pain from running. Then I got hooked. I am not sure if it is the extra stretching or learning to stand up straight or what but after doing it for a year I went from 5’6 to 5’7! Craziness! Target is such a money taker. I don’t know how they do it! Maybe because the prices are low-ish and the vibe is the opposite of WalMart so strolling the aisles is fun? IDK. Using a bowl with ice cream is a waste! I will look down at ice cream eaten out of a bowl and think that little trace of ice cream could be in my belly if I ate it straight from the carton! Ha ha! :)

Love that little look on Brooke’s face when you’re holding the babe! Too cute.

I go in phases with yoga… Before and during my pregnancy, I did yoga at least twice a week. These days it’s not so much. Just depends what I’m feeling! I think it’s awesome you’re doing yoga! It seems like you’re coping in healthy ways (yes, ice cream included!), and I love that.

If the Dirty Dash counts as a race, I’m doing that in mid-September! ;)

I’m happy to hear that yoga is helping you out! And of course, family time and ice cream is always a good way to end the night too ;-) I like yoga, but I haven’t been to an actual class in ages!

Ice cream and family talks are the best times. <3 I go through stages of loving and hating yoga. I just like the fact my abs burn after a session! My workout was some jogging up and down my street and some core work in my living room while watching Kelly and Michael!

Yoga isn’t my thing. I have a hard time doing things so slow when I am used to running which is fast. I need to give it a shot, because I think it really could help with stretching (that I never do!)

I am running a 10 mile race in November and the Color Run in October!!

Great work on your run! You are such an inspiration to me. After reading your last race recap, I decided I had to register for another race even though I haven’t been running much lately due to a bunch of big life changes. Thanks for reminding me that running can actually help me deal! I’m going to try and work on getting faster so I’m doing a 10K this fall – who knows what will come next!

I only do yoga DVDs at home for now but I am moving to an area with much better studios, so I might try some classes once I get there.

I’ve really slacked on my yoga in the last few years, but I do really enjoy it. I know it’s great for runners, but I just haven’t committed yet! I’m running a 5k in September and the Tower of Terror 10-miler in October at Disney World :D I ran 3 miles easy this morning in the pitch black and it was scary. I need a headlamp.

Yes to yoga … all kinds. I am SO GLAD you are able to do these things you love. I am in love with your family for being so loving and so solid for you :)

And…PEACHES!!!!! My family’s favorite :)

I just got done from doing a 7 mile tempo run at a 7:39 average pace! I’m glad to be done and to have the day off – my aunt’s in town visiting so we are doing a Chicago River architecture tour. It’s supposed to be wonderful! It’s going to be so fun to be a tourist in my hometown today!

I’m doing the Chicago Marathon in October and shooting for a sub 3:30. I should get it unless it’s way too hot as in 70 degrees plus. You never know what Chicago on Marathon Day will be like!

LOVE yoga!!! While injured I was practicing 4-5 times a week and now miss having the time to fit it in.

I’m applying for St. George for 2014 in the Spring- hoping I have lottery luck since I got into NY on my first try for 2013, even with all the guaranteed Hurricane Sandy runners.

I don’t really like yoga while I’m doing it, but my body feels pretty amazing after I’m done. But, it’s always a struggle to make myself do it.

I LOVE peaches. They are definitely my favorite fruit, and I’m now considering moving to Utah. :c)

My workout is 3 easy miles. Today is my first day of training for my first half-marathon!!! The Dallas Half-Marathon in December :)

Reply

I love Utah peaches! That is actually one of the three reasons my parents moved back to Utah (the other 2 being corn and basements haha). I need to pick some up ASAP!!!

You definitely look so relaxed in your after yoga photo! What a blessing to be surrounded by such close family and friends for both you and Brooke right now. I love that you are so focused on doing all of the things you love! Your spirit shines through in your pictures!!

I love it some days, and I’m too impatient for it other days.

Night time is the hardest time. It’s when we crave companionship. I’m glad you are finding times and other loved ones to help fill the void.

I’m super excited to see what training with those super fast chickas does for you! You are going to rock this next marathon!

Reply

I want to like yoga, I really do, but I haven’t found one yet that I love!

I have a fall half marathon, the San Jose RNR. Today’s run will be speed work. Ugh!!

Have fun plnning Brooke’s birthday party!

I <3 yoga! My nine year old asked me to do it with her yesterday after school (I love her!) It's super relaxing and it keeps me sane when everything else feels crazy.

I'm running two halves in October (Nike Women's!) and a full in November.

I ran 6 semi-speedy miles this morning.

Reply

i love yoga! i think it’s so great that you’re doing a class in the evenings :) i also love videos online and have one i like to do- it’s called runner’s yoga or something like that.

I’m running the Baltimore half! supposed to be very hilly… we’ll see how that goes! i’m also trying to convince my friends to start running and we’ll take a lil day trip to Annapolis for the Annapolis half which I hear is just beautiful.

I’m going to run 4 miles today- maybe 2 on the treadmill and a campus loop or something like that.

Seems like a great idea to add yoga to your routine right now! I’d love to do the same because I know it helps in terms of clearing your mind.

I personally don’t enjoy yoga but I know if I could just get into it, it would be great for me.

No races planned yet but been running a lot so should commit! Kickboxing + circuit training was today’s workout.

Reply

Today I ran on the treadmill for the first time in ages and actually really enjoyed it. Then I foam rolled and enjoyed that a lot less. super sore muscles!

Reply

I wish I had more time to go to yoga classes…..b/c I do like ’em! But I can only handle them for like 30 mins. More & I get boooorrreed. hah!

p.s. I want to see you soon!!! I will email you. xo

I sometimes like yoga. I have to be in the mood for it and go on streaks where I am obsessed with going to class and streaks where I can’t bear the thought of it.

The hubs and I are training for a fall 1/2 marathon and we’re pretty excited about that!

Reply

I always fall asleep during the yoga meditation! It’s so relaxing!

Reply

I have tried yoga and just can’t bring myself to enjoy it for any length of time. I like the stretching but I must be too ADD to focus on it for that long.

Doing the Big Cottonwood Marathon in September and am pumped for it this year. Last year it was so beautiful and the perfect fall day, but the course has changed this year and I get a glorious 17 canyon miles in… Woot! Can’t wait!

I find yoga to be boring at times but honestly it is probably what my body needs most when marathon training. Yoga does help me now as I’m mourning the loss of my grandmother and my dog this summer. I’m either really into it or really not into it. It’s a bit odd. Regardless, I think that it’s great for my body.
I’m training for a lot of half marathons this fall and the Houston Marathon in january. It’s so hot and humid here in Texas that I like to give myself extra time until i have to start seriously training.

Reply

I love Yoga, but am way too competitive to enjoy it properly. I spend most of the class checking everyone else out and making sure that they aren’t better than me- which I kind of think defeats the purpose :)

Reply

Janae, I just have to say, you are always super pretty, but that last picture of you is STUNNING. :) YAY for friends and running and talking to brothers on the phone and ice cream and birthday parties. Keep smiling, pretty girl!

LOVE yoga! I’m terrible at it (so inflexible!) but I still love it.

I am running my FIRST marathon ever in October- exactly two months from today! I’m totally overwhelmed/terrified.

Today’s workout was 4 miles, this week is a dial back week because I’m running a half on Sunday.

Reply

I got two fall races coming up: the Staten Island Half-Marathon on October 13 and the New York City Marathon on November 3rd. Saying that I’m excited is an understatement!

This evening I got a tempo run in Central Park!

PS: I love peaches!

Reply

Night time can be the toughest time. You’re so smart to go to yoga then! That’s such a good & relaxing idea! The ice cream has to make it 10 times better too! ;)

I’m dying for one of those big peaches!

Now that you are training at altitude, have you considered running a marathon at sea level? You could run a sub-3 hr marathon simply due to the benefits of altitude training. My half marathon time improved by 2.5 minutes by living in Colorado but racing elsewhere.

Reply

Love love LOVE yoga….it’s good in so many way…strength, core, focus…and mental sharpness. I hope you enjoy!

P.S. Can you send me a few of those peaches…they look AMAZE!

Yoga – yes
Fall Race – Chicago Monster Dash

I have never tried yoga but i think i would get bored. I have been looking for a fall race all day but most around my parts are on sunday… Ill keep looking though. We actually just ran our first 1/2 on the 4th of July it was hard work!

Reply

Yoga has become my favorite cross training. It helps balance out a crazy hard run, and puts my head back in a good place :) PS to Mandy above me, this is making me very happy because I am training (living) in Colorado but my next half is in STL. I’m hopeful for a PR because of the altitude training!

Reply

I loovvvee yoga! I even have aspirations of becoming a yoga instructor one of these days!
My fall races are:
The Nashville Women’s Half
The Middle Half (a small race that sold out in 6 hours)
Ragnar Tennessee

I love bikram yoga, it has to be challenging and workout style or I get bored easily. I find bikram is relaxing, works on flexibility while providing a workout and a mental de stresser all in one :)

I am going to do some rollerblading, running and abs.

Hi Janae!
I really really like yoga – but when you are training for a race, it is hard to do anything but running or have motivation to fit in another workout.
My fall race is marathon #4 – Sioux Falls Marathon on 9/8. Trying to BQ for the 3rd time…..
I am following the Hanson’s Plan for this marathon so this morning’s workout was 4 x 1.5 miles with warm up and cool down. Total 11.5 miles before work this morning. I will not be doing yoga tonight – more like getting my kids ready for first day of school and eating frozen yogurt.
Have a great day!

Yum peaches!! I want to come eat that whole box with you :) I have been on a big peach kick this summer and have been starting my day with a bowl of cup up peaches and yogurt, topped with granola. It’s delicious!
I used to love going to hot yoga. Such a great workout, but now that I have a little one I haven’t been able to carve out the time to go. The class is usually 90 minutes long and if I only have time to do one type of workout every day I almost always pick running or cycling. I need to get myself back to class every once in a while though…my flexibility improved SO much before!

Reply

I’ve been wanting to try yoga, but haven’t done it yet. No races on the horizon for me right now… I was planning to complete (aka jog some but mostly walk) a half in November, but plans had to change :(

And this morning’s workout? Crossfit!

Also, have you ever grilled peaches? If not, DO IT. It will change everything!

Reply

I do not like yoga. I desperately want to love it, and hopefully some day I will because I know it can be great for you! When I was doing P90X, I would do the yoga portion on 1.5x speed just so it would be over faster…kind of defeats the purpose :)

Reply

I really want to like yoga but after 2 classes I get bored.

Im doing the Philly Rock n Roll 1/2 then doing the 10K of the Runners World Series. I too hope to see you and the other gals there!

Today I ran 6 hard miles on the treadmill..ugh. I am not a fan of the treadmill but I had to run too early to run safely outdoors.

Reply

bikram yoga is the only yoga I enjoy, and that’s only because I’m too focused on how much I’m sweating to get ADD like I do in any other yoga class

Reply

Not a fan of yoga, but I always wanted to like it. I hear it’s SO relaxing & calming for your mind. Maybe I should try it again…or actually go to a yoga class instead of trying to do a video while Gabriella laughs at me in the background ;)
Brooke’s dress- LOVE.

Love reading what races everyone is hitting up this fall! I’m tackling the Thunder Road marathon in NC. It’s my second time running this race and I’m looking forward to a better experience than the first time. My workout today will either be swimming or speed work. NC has been crazy rainy the past few days and my Asics just dried out. :)

Reply

I’m running the Chicago Marathon in October!! Fall races are so unpredictable with weather… I think my workout today is going to be an easy 5-6 miles.

Reply

I love yoga! My workout today was a 9.5 mile run at 6am and a power yoga class after! So fun! I can’t wait for the Chicago Marathon this Fall that I’m training for.

Reply

I’m currently training for two marathons (and a bunch of halts); the Half Moon Bay International Marathon and the California International Marathon. So excited for both!

I like yoga, but never seem to fit it into my schedule. Must work on that.

Brooke is so darn cute!! That first photo of her makes me want to kiss her little face!

Reply

I like yoga, except for the fact that I have a cyst in my wrist which acts up sometimes and makes it difficult to do certain poses and sun salutations! I am SO glad that you have so many friends to help you through this time! :)

ALSO I am SO jealous that you can get that kind of ice cream! Red Velvet is my favorite and a little bit of jealously pops up when you post that ice cream! I can’t find it here in SoCal!

Reply

Are you still planning on running the CIM this year? I’m sure you will get your goal! It’s great to have such an awesome personally goal, helps you focus on that and help deter from the negative.

Reply

Holy peaches, Batman! And I love the pic with Brooke’s “suspicious” face. So CUTE!

I’ve been doing yoga lately, once a week, but I wouldn’t call myself a “fan” per se. I definitely only do it to try to increase my flexibility. You wouldn’t believe how inflexible I am!

I have 5 races, 5 weekends in a row. They’re all only 5Ks though – but it’s going to mess up my 10K training. I just plan on picking back up in mid-October when all the races are done.

Today – 3 mi run followed by legs

Reply

I love yoga!!! I always leave feeling so relaxing, which is why I go. :)

Reply

I love yoga, you are so relaxed after finishing, haven’t done it in a while though. I am doing a race in november. :)

Reply

I skipped my 20 minute easy run after work today but I did it for a good reason – baking a cake or two!!!! I mentioned you on my post tonight for inspiring me to gear myself up for a morning run, and you might like my cakes too!

Yum! Utah peaches are the best!

I used to do Yoga all the time when I first got out of college, but just sort of fell out of love with it. However, I recently ran the Lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon in Vancuover and we did sunset Yoga in Stanley Park the night after and it felt AMAZING!! Now, I am re-obsessed with Yoga and it makes me feel so happy and at peace. I hope it gives you some of the same. =)

Reply

I love yoga! I have a really good teacher and she is always emphasising the importance of yoga for runners. Also yoga makes me feel a little less crazy if I’m having a rough time. Like running!

Doing a 10km in November. It’s the ‘Movember’ one in Dublin, Ireland. Going to look for one sooner too.

Today is rest day :)

Reply

Love yoga! Just got cleared to work out after having my little guy so I can’t wait to start running and doing yoga again! Hopefully some races in my future!

I am running the Portland Marathon in October. I haven’t signed up for anything besides that. I have my eyes set on Ironman in the Spring (have NOT committed yet!) so I am going to focus on other types of training in addition (originally wrote addiction) to running. I need to cross train my body in the worst way, and I can’t make myself do it consistently so I need to do something besides road races.

I actually LOVE yoga, but I rarely do it anymore. My favorite studio is too expensive for me right now, and I just… haven’t been doing anything besides running. I am in a slump and need to get out of it.

I am so very glad that your support system is really amazing. I know that it doesn’t make everything better, I know it doesn’t take the pain away, but it really makes all the difference to have a soft place to fall. I think you are doing really amazing, and I need to take some tips from you and just quite stewing in my own funk. My divorce has made me so depressed, and I just need to get out there and do things whether I want to or not.

((hugs))

I actually do like yoga, but I had to learn to like it. It took about 6 months. For me, it depends on the instructor!!!
It’s so good for us, we need to keep doing it!

Keep rockin’ on!!! There’s nothing like a true friend…..
