Do you wear make-up when you run or race?

I ordered 10 of these pillows yesterday because this happens to me anytime I go a few hours without food.

I go through food phases.  We all know that.  My ice cream phase has taken a break for a few days and candy has taken its place.

Candy in bed while reading.  Try it.   I finally finished my book and I loved it.

We had quite the random dinner last night.  Steak, potatoes, salad, beans and spaghetti.

What would Sunday night be without some sort of dessert?  Made THESE chocolate chip cookies.  Sadly, I am still on the search for the absolute best chocolate chip cookie and I am worried it may take my whole life.

Runner’s World had an article with the Top 10 Running Fashion Faux Pas.   They were all pretty fun to look through but I thought this one would be fun to talk about:

Screen Shot 2013 08 04 at 3 45 46 PM

For races I usually put coverup on any zits and I ALWAYS wear my beloved lip gloss at all times (it is very shiny).  In some cases I still have eye makeup on because I was too lazy to take it off the night before but overall I usually spend 75 seconds to get ready for a race.

What about you…  Do you wear makeup when you run?  What about for races?  Do you think it is weird when people wear makeup when they run?

What about when you aren’t working out or running…do you usually wear makeup?

Anyone else been Hangry lately?

I definitely have experienced hanger. It’s not pretty. I never wear make up for runs (unless I go in the afternoon and already have it on for the day). And I’d say on average I wear make up 3x a week? Mainly just to church and if we go out. Being a stay at home mom doesn’t require much make up :-)

Andrea – if I remember correctly she has a certain time every day she checks blogs, etc, and that coincides with when Janae publishes her posts.

I thought I was the only one who must eat all the things lately. I have been a lot more hungry lately but anyways. My food phases go with the seasons, I’ve been craving more salads and fresh foods now but upstate NY winters…give me all the warm comfort foods.

I’m the same way regarding makeup. Ill wear my stuff to cover up blemishes (I can choke that up too it has sunscreen in it ;) but that’s about it.) I have never been able to get into lipgloss/lipstick day or not. I do fully admit I wear makeup when I am not working out, I’ve actually always felt that is really taboo in the blogging world. I have a guilty pleasure for fun and crazy makeup.

Reply

no running makeup for me – not even for races! I do for work though – helps me to look human ;)

I experience hanger on a daily basis and am in love with that pillow!!!

Reply

Hahaha I need that pillow. My mom used to call me the hungry bear whenever I was little and I’d get really hungry. Who knew there was one word to describe it all!

I don’t wear much makeup at all, but especially not while I’m running. I sweat so much when I run (at least at this time of year) that I’m afraid it would run down my face and I’d look even worse if I tried to wear makeup.

Reply

I do wear makeup but I always want it to be really natural looking. I just feel better when I wear it so I just do it.

Reply

I always wear lip gloss and a little bit of waterproof mascara at races, if I am running early then no, I just get up and go. And yes….I have been hangry lately, but I haven’t really been running much (due to injury). I don’t know what is going on.

Reply

I rarely wear any makeup, any time, and I definitely go au natural for races. I don’t know how some women manage to keep their makeup looking perfect after a hard, sweaty effort. Those are skills I do not possess!

Reply

I never used to wear it, but then once I started running with the students (for long distance track), we would run right after school so the make up would stay on. I generally don’t wear very much anyway (it’s very “natural” looking) so it hasn’t been an issue!

Reply

I’m a no make-up while running gal. I have acne enough, I get scared that running with it will only make it worse!
I’ve been loving after-dinner walks lately! I don’t want the sun to start setting earlier because I will hate to sat goodbye to them.

Reply

I’m the same way sadly it’s usually whatever makeup I haven’t taken off whih is so bad for my skin but I’m terribly lazy with it!

Reply

Ha! I’ve had “hanger” episodes almost daily since I’ve gotten into the higher mileage of my marathon training. Nothing gets between me and the peanut butter jar when hanger strikes!!

I have really oily skin so I can’t stand the feel of anything on my face when I’m running/working out. On outdoor runs I wear lip-gloss with SPF 15 and a little sunscreen, oh yeah….and a visor pulled low over my face to hide under : )

Reply

I’m kind of a beauty junkie and I love makeup, but I try to keep it pretty basic on an every day basis, and I definitely don’t like wearing it when I know I’ll be sweating because the feeling of anything cakey on my face clogging up my pores just skeeves me out. And I’m very familiar with getting hangry, which is why I always make sure to carry around something to snack on – I don’t want to expose people to my hanger monster ;)

Reply

The only time I wear makeup running is if I didn’t manage to wash it all off the night before. Then again, i rarely wear makeup to begin with, so I’m pretty safe. One of the perks of working from home.

Reply

I don’t really wear makeup ever. Only on special occasions. Too lazy. Last night I got hagry and oh man it was bad. Will the search EVER end for the best choc chip cookie?!

Reply

Yes, since my mileage is increasing I’ve been getting a little Hangry err Rungry.
No make-up for me when running or races. The only thing I use is lip balm and some sunscreen. I’m very simple with my everyday make-up. I’ll get a little more fancy if I’m going out.

Have a GREAT week! :)

Reply

I rarely wear makeup during runs. For races, I’ll usually wash my face in the morning and put a tiny bit of powder and a little bit of mascara(I feel naked without it) but that’s about it. My normal makeup routine includes a light concealer & powder and mascara. Every once in a while I will put some blush on!

I think I experience hangry everyday, perhaps I have a problem?!

Reply

Never wear make up- even when we go out! Ha… I’m bad. AAlthough I will put some mascara on if we’re going somewhere real fancy pants!

Reply

Oh boy, being hangry is not a good time..at all.
I’m a mess if I get super hungry.
I do usually wear makeup if I workout. Mostly if I’m going to the gym – otherwise I’ll skip it. Especially if I’m doing the first thing in the morning workouts.
If I happen to workout in the afternoon, I just keep my makeup on from the day.

Reply

I definitely experience hanger and believe you me, it’s a scary thing when people stand between me and my food! My mom has this fantastic chocolate chip cookie recipe that makes the best fluffy cookies (secret is ground oatmeal as part of the flour and using both baking soda and baking powder) !

Reply

I don’t put makeup on for the gym, but if I am already wearing eye makeup I don’t take it off, granted my eye makeup is very minimal. I’m addicted to lip gloss and chapstick, but nothing drive me more crazy than my hair sticking in it!

Reply

Finding the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe should probably be a full time job. It’s that difficult. I’ve been off the ice cream train and on the candy train lately too. As long as we’re not giving up dessert all together I see nothing wrong with it. Considering I don’t wear makeup… Ever… I don’t wear it to races. I don’t even know how to put on eyeliner without poking my eyeball out.

Reply

So I clicked through to the Runner’s World link, and although I agree with their other don’ts, I completely disagree with their anti-shorts over tights stance. I rock this look all winter long here in Michigan, where it’s cold enough to necessitate running with tights, yet my rear is too wide and dimply for me to feel comfortable running in tights alone. Thoughts?

Reply

Sometimes I do add a dab of make-up before a race. Mostly just to go in with the right attitude. Huge bags, and pale complexion make me want to crawl back in bed the whole time I am running.

Reply

I almost always run after work, so I have make up on. I don’t see the point in washing my face before I run, then running and washing it again in the shower.. Before a race I may put on waterproof eyeliner, but that’s about it. And tinted moisturizer because it has spf 30 in it. I don’t think it’s weird to run in make up though.

I always have makeup on. My bare minimum is tinted moisturizer, bronzer and eyeliner.

I think I’m hangry atleast twice a day. It’s a real issue. I love those pillows!! so cute!

Reply

I found the best cookie– for real- you have to make it- its NY times chocolate chip cookie- ive been looking for years too and finally found the recipe that takes teh cake…or cookie haha http://www.sistersrunningthekitchen.com/2010/12/new-york-times-chocolate-chip-cookies/

yes i wear makeup at races not like a full face of it– kinda just like what u say- cover up zits and things. and yes wear makeup when im not running everyday.

Reply

If I am running in the evening I still have my work makeup on (minimal though-dash of tinted moisterizer, bronzer, mascara) and for races I do a tinted moisterizer with SPF, tinted chapstick, and mascara. I never put on makeup for early morning gym workouts or runs though.

Reply

Hmm I have NEVER worn make up for a race. It seems silly. I have also been known to use my shirt as a towel to wipe sweat off my face / keep it out of my eyes so it seems silly to ruin a perfectly good running shirt with make up! I would say that on a daily basis no I do not wear make up. I will throw some on on the weekends if the boy and I do a planned date night / a night out with friends! Lazyyyy bones over here!

Reply

I love that pillow and need it. Now. My ability to get hangry is so infamous in my family that the minute I feel even just a bit ‘off’ they immediately say: someone go and feed Jen! ;)
As to make up. Lip gloss/balm/whatever cause I hate dry lips. Panda eyes from the night before. That’s about it.

Reply

I’m pretty much the same way re: makeup and a race – if there’s anything, it’s probably leftover eye makeup from the day/night before.

Hangry is a common problem for me. My husband likes to eat dinner much later than I do, so I sometimes have to warn him that I’m getting hangry, and then he jumps up in a jiffy to make dinner because hangry never works out well for either of us.

As for chocolate chip cookies – if you haven’t tried the Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe (on their website). Those are my favorite.

Reply

I wear make-up everyday. If I run early morning, it is without make-up. If I run later in the day, I already have make-up on. Before races, it’s usually just a little, especially if the weather is pretty gross out.

Reply

I don’t wear make up when running around my neighborhood or even at the gym but for races I do (and its definitely because I know there will be photos haha). I did a Tough Mudder in June and everyone on my team was laughing at me because I put waterproof mascara and concealer on. Whatever! I’m glad I did… I looked pretty damn good in those photos :)

Reply

I put on just a little too. I mean there will be pictures, right?!?!

Reply

I saw that article too! I was thinking I don’t wear any make up for racing until you said cover up on any zits, and I realized, yep- I do that! :) I rarely let myself get hangry anymore… I’m a bit snacker, but I need to keep that in check sometimes so that I’m actually hungry for meals!

Reply

Makeup is fun and let’s be honest, it makes most of us look a teeny bit more beautiful than we already are;-)! I don’t wear much to workout though. If I were going to a public gym or race I would put on a touch of tinted moisturizer and a waterproof mascara(maybe?) but anything more would be sweated off!

For everyday though, I do like to make sure my hair and makeup is done, even though I am a stay at home mom. It just makes me feel better, like a real person rather than someone chasing after kids all day, lol!!

Reply

TRY THESE! You wouldn’t even need to add the caramel or salt for them to be the best chocolate chip cookies I have had in awhile – I use Milk Chocolate chips in them – and when I use the caramels I use the caramel bits in the yellow bag from the store – I don’t buy the squares and cut them – too much sticky work. I also cook them halfway through and then take them out and add about 8 caramel bits to the top and then finish them off. Bake them soon – you’ll thank me ;)

http://zestycook.com/salted-caramel-chocolate-chip-cookies/

Also, to answer the question – I barely put makeup on period – much less to run!

Reply

Make up while running? No thanks. Chapstick is pretty much all I do. ;) When I’m hanging out at home, I don’t wear make up. I usually always put on some light foundation and mascara if I’m going out of the house though. If it’s for something special, then I do eyeliner too!

Best chocolate chip recipe is right here: http://notsodomesticated.com/the-only-chocolate-chip-cookie-recipe-youll-ever-need/

Just trust me on this one. ;) My husband is super picky when it comes to chocolate chip cookies, and he loves these. Just make sure you don’t bake them too long! You want them to almost look like they’re not done when you pull them out of the oven.

Reply

I never wear makeup when I run, work out, or play sports. I wear it to work and if I go out, but I wash it off promptly when I get home!

Reply

No makeup for me, which probably explains 50% of my ghastly race photos. But I know a local runner who always puts on bright red lipstick to race. It’s just her race day thing!

Reply

http://www.landolakes.com/recipe/2329/chewy-jumbo-chocolate-chip-cookies
These are the best chocolate chip cookies but you have to use the chocolate chunks. Oh and don’t over cook them if you like the soft kind of cookies.
I only wear lip gloss mascara eyeshadow and eye liner all the time. No makeup if I run in the morning but I do for races. Yes to the hangry.

Reply

I never wear make up…but would always like to photoshop my running photos!!! At least I have blusher (natural!!) by the end of a race!

Reply

I never wear makeup in races. The only time I wear makeup while running is when I used to come straight from work and I wouldn’t take it off. The most I will wear on race morning is sunscreen and Chapstick!

Reply

Brooke’s face in the stroller–I’m dying. I only wear makeup on very particular occasions (as in, not every day), and so definitely not when I’m running. I feel like all of it would just be dripping down my face because I sweat so much!

Reply

I made these chocolate chip cookies yesterday and they are my fav by far! The recipe includes a package of vanilla instant pudding. Enough said!
http://www.chef-in-training.com/2011/07/pudding-cookies/

I usually try to have bare makeup on when racing….eyeliner and gloss. Done!

Reply

since i run in the morning, i never wear makeup when i run. it’s actually one of the reasons i run first thing in the day — only one session of showering/makeup etc per day! if i ran in the afternoon it’s like i have to get ready TWICE which is too much.

Reply

Yup, I need that pillow too!
Lately most of my workouts have been happening early morning, so any makeup that I have on at that point is leftover from the day before. I generally don’t care about wearing makeup while running or working out – if it’s a race, I may throw on some BB cream (hey, it has sunscreen) and a bit of eyeliner. Other than that, I don’t really bother.

Reply

I usually don’t wear any makeup while working out. I have in the past and it just ends up on my sweat towel anyways. I do wear sunscreen though if I’m running outside.

Reply

Wearing makeup while running is like wearin makeup to the gym-it’s just plain weird. I get not washing makeup off the night before (weve all done it) but putting it on specifically for a workout? Who wants raccoon eyes/streaky face 5 min into their workout? I guess if you are a gym rat who goes just to pick people up? I will never understand it.

I’m usually make-up free which means I usually look about 10 years younger than I am. I always get carded and usually I need someone to back up my age!?! Chapstick and lip gloss are my two necessary make up items.

I definitely need those Hangry pillows-I’m the worst hangy person in the world. Thankfully I’ve realized this so I’m always eating-training for a marathon is another reason I’m always eating.

Reply

I usually wear mascara when running– i have super blonde eyelashes so i like to wear mascara so they actually stand out :) i’m trying to get better/more comfortable about not wearing it though!

Reply

I do wear make-up when I race. partially because I am self conscious with my acne…I don’t wear a ton…usually foundation and some mascara…the mascara helps make me look more awake since race mornings are usually super early.

My other runs and workouts sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. Usually depends how lazy I was if I took my makeup off from work.

Hangry can pretty much happen to me if I got 1294seconds without food.

I get super hangry if I go a few hours without eating. It’s not pretty and my husband has learned that whenever I’m grumpy, it’s usually because I’m just hungry. Feed me and I’m happy!!

It’s a struggle for me to make the effort to put makeup on at all, so I don’t wear it while I’m running. I’m getting a little better at wearing it other times!

Reply

Have you tried the nytimes chocolate chip cookies? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/09/dining/091crex.html?_r=0

I just use regular white flour instead of their fancy flours (no sifting either) & ghiradelli dark chocolate chips but the sitting in refrigerator really makes a difference!

I never wear makeup when I race. I usually lay my clothes out the night before and wash my face and brush my teeth in the am. I like my process to take 2.5 seconds.

Reply

I wear make up every day but I make a point to take it off before running or working out. I don’t need raccoon eyes when I have sweat dripping everywhere.

Reply

I don’t like wearing make-up to begin with so no I usually don’t wear any when I workout either haha! I just put on some chapstick though and I am ready to go. No Fuss!

Reply

I am guilty of working out with makeup…under-eye concealer and mascara. I just feel horrible without it! I try to not wear anything else though!

Reply

Seeing someone with too much make-up at a race or at the gym always makes me laugh, but the one that annoys me the most is the loose hair. I coach middle school girls, so this one drives me crazy on a daily basis. How can you workout with your hair either in your face or flying everywhere? I do not get it!

Reply

I don’t wear any makeup because I usually run in the morning before work. I do wear a tiny bit in races, but usually sweat most of it off. I don’t think a little makup is weird when you run. A lot of it protects your skin from the sun now, so that’s a plus!

I have definitely been hangry lately! I’m 4.5 months pregnant with baby number #2, just got over the worst part of my nausea and my appetite is back for sure! My sweet tooth is out of control this time!

Reply

Haha, I don’t wear makeup when I run/work out. However, I DO wear shorts over my compression tights! It’s a modesty thing. and I frankly don’t think it looks bad anyway?!

Reply

I prefer no makeup 100% of the time, except my eyelashes are blond, so you can’t see them unless I wear mascara.

Reply

Oh I’m Hangry every day lol I HAVE to eat every 2-3 hours.
I’m the same, I will put cover up on any pimples, but otherwise I don’t wear any other makeup, not for working out, or for races. I like to let my sweat run free :)

Reply

I will make sure I have some mascara on but that is all… and that is only for race day. I usually don’t wear a lot of make up anyways. :)

BUT I have been asked about having makeup on in pictures posted on Instagram. Little known fact- it’s always waterproof mascara from the day before HAHA Oops.

I absolutely do not wear makeup while working out or running, just sunscreen. When I’m not working out, I’ll take about 3 min to put on minimal makeup :)

Reply

I get super super hangry. It’s not fun for anyone involved. So basically keep me fed and all is well :)
I don’t put on make up to go running or work out but if I end up working out later in the day after I’ve already been to work or something and had to get ready, I don’t take my make up off just to run.

Reply

I do not wear makeup when I run, but this morning I passed a lady that was decked out to the nines made up head to toe, running. Just the chuckle I needed on mile 6.5 of 7… So I would say, yes I find it weird…

Usually day to day I do not wear make up. Church is just about the only exception.

My husband would say I’m always hangry.

Reply

I rarely wear makeup outside of work and I never wear it when I’m running (unless it’s during/after work and I didn’t wash it off). I just don’t think it’s good for your skin, for one, but I also don’t see the need to look “cute” while working out.

Reply

NO make up when I run… though i think i will start doing some face moisturizer with sunblock in it. i also do a once-over with spray sunscreen. on work days/ M-F i usually wear tinted moisturizer or bb cream, pearl colored eye shadow, brown eyeliner and mascara. nothing fancy! but sometimes i do like to do it up with fancy colors and more eyeliner :) also my eyelash curler is amazing, everyone should have one! it’s actually really nice to just organize your eyelashes :)

i’m posting here as a mental challenge to GO RUNNING after work today!! i know i won’t, but maybe a snack will help keep up my energy. I’m going to do a 2-mile loop outside with the option to circle back and make it 4, and total goal of 6 but I may lose too much daylight. it WILL happen!!

Reply

I don’t put make-up on before I go running, but if I run after work or something I have it on. I usually run in the morning…so I rock the hot mess look.

Here’s a cookie recipe for you to try! I found this recipe on Pinterest a while ago and now I make these cookies all the time! It’s definitely my new go-to recipe. Here’s the link to my post about them http://fitcupcakelover.com/2013/06/17/chicken-fajita…ormous-cookies

I always have food stashed in my car because if I get hangry, everyone will know about it. LOL And I only wear the makeup which was too stubborn to rub off the night before. For some reason, Cetaphil doesn’t want to dispose of my eyeliner. Usually the ones who put makeup on before going to the gym are the ones who have gallons of perfume on, as well. My lungs burn. Lol

Reply

For a race or any run where I’ll be seeing people I know, I usually wear eyeliner and minimal mascara (only a little so it doesn’t run down my face super attractively). If I’m running alone and it’s early, I don’t bother with it. If I’m exercising after work, then I have it on anyway. I keep reading that it’s bad for your pores but I always forget to take it off.

Reply

What about you… Do you wear makeup when you run? What about for races? Do you think it is weird when people wear makeup when they run? NO! Unless I was super lazy the night before, but I wipe the sweat off my face way too much, so I don’t want to ruin good shirts by getting makeup stains on them! Same goes for races. I can totally understand why some people would wear makeup, but it’s not my cup of tea!

What about when you aren’t working out or running…do you usually wear makeup? I usually wear makeup, but summer has destroyed my beauty routine. Lately people at Target have been lucky that I showed up in pants. It’s that bad.

Anyone else been Hangry lately? Oh yesss! Brittany at blissfullbrit had a whole post on this, and I nodded my head the whole time I was reading it. I’m one of those people that says mean things and is short tempered when hungry!

haha that pillow is hilarious!! And when I run, I just put the bare minimum- some spf in the form of tinted moisturizer, mascara and chapstick!

I do not wear make-up, period. Except if I’m going to a wedding. Indoors. In the tropics, any make-up I put on would be sweat off in about 5 seconds. “Waterproof” or not, when you’re wiping sweat off your brow, the make-up doesn’t stick around for too long.

Embarrassing moment for me: I was marshaling at a duathlon, and watched a female participant in transition, setting up her bike. I made a comment to a fellow volunteer about her trying to “compensate” for something, with all the make-up she was wearing. She proceeded to decimate the entire female (and most of the male) field. I vowed not to judge someone’s speed by her make-up, ever again…

Reply

I’m guilty of running with foundation on and mascara. I have terrible acne so I feel super self conscious running without it. I ran in a zombie race a year ago and had a face painted with make up and that was horrendous. At the end of the 10k my eyes were burning from the makeup running into my eyes.

I got so hangry when I was pregnant. It was awful. I would turn into a monster.

Your dinner looks delicious. I love a buffet of different items mmmm!

Reply

Make-up? You’ve got to be kidding. I sweat buckets so that would not be an option for me unless I was running a 400M race. Don’t you love how the Olympic sprinters are all decked out in jewelry and make-up. Heh. Maybe that explains all of my crappy race photos.

Reply

I’ll nearly always wear mascara to run unless it’s dark or I’m REALLY sleepy. For races, I do wear make-up too…foundation, mascara, blusher. Not much but enough to make me feel decent-looking. I’m 38 now and I feel like I look rough without those three things and I don’t think they’re excessive!!

Reply

I never wear makeup while running, I get way too sweaty and it would be all over the place! I do wear makeup most days though, I just don’t look good enough without it! Lol. One thing I have noticed on some of my recent runs has been women with really long wear running with it down, no ponytail, no clips, nothing, just swaying in the breeze! I couldn’t understand how that could be at all comfortable.

Reply

Unless it’s for work or a special occasion, I hardly ever wear makeup. I’m very low-maintenance when it comes to getting ready!

Reply

I don’t wear make-up when I run or workout. True confession though: When I first started running I would wear eye liner and mascara to races but really now I’m just too lazy and don’t care enough haha.

In real life, I wear minimal make-up for work. I like occasionally getting all ready but it takes a long time and I get impatient.

I love the hangry pillows! I get hangry all the time. I’m on a I need to eat every three hours or else cycle currently.

My big candy phase right now is Trolli Night Crawlers…I was too excited to find that they finally sell them in a bigger bag. I mean really, the only with only 3 serving sizes? I eat that in 2 minutes…

For race days I go for tinted moisturizer and mascara. My eyelashes are very light, and I look asleep without it!

I have major hangry issues! I keep meaning to make a hangry survival kit for my car so I always have something to eat when hanger strikes and I am driving.

I usually wear mascara when I run…I’m not sure why but it’s a habit now.

Hangry is my middle name! If I’m in a bad mood, usually it just means I need to be fed and then it’s like a switch from night to day haha

Reply

I always wear my usual eye makeup (eyeliner and mascara) plus coverup over acne too. Other than that, no foundation or anything – it would get so gross with all the sweat anyway!

All I could think of when you said you were still looking for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe is the episode of “Friends” when Phoebe keeps telling Monica that her grandmother’s recipe was a French one called “Nestlay Toulooze” (Nestle Tollhouse) and of course Monica figures out that Phoebe’s grandmother had been fooling her. LOL!

What about you… Do you wear makeup when you run? What about for races? Do you think it is weird when people wear makeup when they run? No makeup for me!

What about when you aren’t working out or running…do you usually wear makeup? Nope, not too often.

Anyone else been Hangry lately? Unfortunately yet, I’m always hangry!

If I happen to be wearing makeup when it’s time to run I don’t take it off, but that doesn’t happen very often. Usually I hope to run fast enough that I’m a blur and no one can see how terrible I look.

I saw that on runners world a few days ago and laughed so hard!

Hysterical — when I first saw your post title, my first thought was “only if it’s make up from last night.” I’m glad I’m not the only one . . . I feel a little gross when I do it sometimes, but at least I’m not alone :)
And as far as being “hangry”…Zach and I use the term often. HE packs snacks when we go places, just in case a case of the hangries attacks (you never know when it might creep up…)

I only wear a little eyeliner and mascara if I’m going to a race. You know, out with the general public I figure I can pull myself together a little. Otherwise, no, I just leave the makeup at home. I saw that post on runnersworld.com yesterday, too. Funny stuff. I love the girl running with her long hair flowing freely. I don’t know how anyone could deal with all that!

I wear a slightly tinted sunscreen sometimes when I run and feel like I have make -up on. Then when I sweat and wipe it off on a towel, it’s gross. I always have on mascara from the night before…. Oh well!

I always wear some makeup when I’m running where other people will see me (if it’s 4:30 am in my neighborhood, I skip it) but I don’t do “full” makeup before a run. I typically put some light powder on to even out my skin tone and I ALWAYS wear black waterproof eyeliner and mascara (and chapstick with some SPF in it)!

I would never go anywhere without makeup in my non-running life. Just one of those people, I guess!

I rarely wear makeup while running, and I certainly don’t apply it just to run. Suffocating my skin while I’m a hot, sweaty mess freaks me out. I always hate my race photos anyway, so I doubt I would like them more if I had a half-melted makeup face in them. I am going to focus on less grimace and more smile. :D I laughed out loud at the shorts one… there is a large middle ground between super short and super long. Ha! When I see a guy with itty bitty shorts on, I wonder if the mesh liner is going to give out, and I will see more than I need to see.

Oh, you’re back in Utah, YAY! I’ve been on vacation and haven’t read your blog in a few weeks. It’s so nice that you get to see your family so often!

Make up. every.time.

I never run with anything on my skin (foundation, blush, etc…), but I usually wear some waterproof mascara and lip gloss.

I don’t put makeup on just before running. It seems like a waste of makeup to me! However, if I am running in the evening and already have makeup on then I wear makeup because I’m too lazy to take it off before running.

My mother-in-law makes the best chocolate chip cookies ever. I have tried to make her recipe, but they never quite turn out like hers!

I’m very similar to you in that I always have some make-up on when racing, it’s whatever is left from the night before. I must wear lipstick for races, it serves as my lip protectant. It’s not an obnoxious shade but it’s a MUST! Also, when I’m not working or running I do have make-up on 99% of the time. It’s just a part of me.

I do put makeup on for races! I used to think it was silly, but it makes me feel better so I do now {and I always wear waterproof mascara}. I usually only wear makeup if I am going somewhere and sometimes then I’ll just put on mascara.

I don’t wear makeup, so that is not a problem for me :)

I don’t put on foundation or anything on my skin, but I usually wear some mascara!

When I first started racing, I always wore mascara because I have white eyelashes and I think I look kinda goofy without it. But then I saw some race pictures and realized that I look even goofier with giant black streaks down my face. So now it’s the natural look for me!

I love the picture of Brooke in her stroller. Her face is adorable.

There are sometimes or days when I go without make up completely. I like to give my skin and face time to breath as much as possible. I never wear cover up unless there is a fancy occasion. If I do put on make up before a race it is mascara. My sister once told me I look like the walking dead if I don’t wear mascara. haha!!

hahaha I’m the worstt when I’m hungry. Like can’t even talk to anyone.
I have never worn makeup to run but I really never wear makeup anyway so maybe I just don’t know..
I’m actually getting a little hangry now.. doing research in the lab for hours definitely brings that out in me….

I need that pillow! I’ve been explaining to my coworkers for weeks that no one likes Hangry Sheena.

And for races, I try to cover up break outs (and for some reason, adult acne has been a permanent visitor since age 22, and I never had issues when I was a hormonal teenager), and whatever might be leftover from the day before (if I even had any on) plus chapstick.

I don’t wear makeup when I run because I feel like my skin is breaking out by the minute. It’s some how liberating not to wear it

I don’t wear makeup when working out or running because a) it’s not good for your skin and I have a hard enough time keeping my skin clear as it is, and b) I feel like it’ll just melt/rub off partway through my workout, then I’ll have makeup smeared all over my face and look worse than I would’ve without it. Sometimes I put a little mascara on before I go to the gym just so I don’t look like a total ghost, and if I’m running outside I ALWAYS wear sunglasses – they’re the ultimate cover up. :p

I only don’t wear makeup if I do my run really early in the morning.. as for races I just do eyeliner and mascara.. Pictures are taken at events and I don’t want to look and feel like death at the end;)

Re: Cookies

Have you tried mixing by hand? Like, legit with your hand instead of a mixer or spoon. Also, try replacing butter with shortening like Crisco- they have a butter flavored one some people like.

I always wear lipstick when I train AND race!!! I have it in my transition bags for my Ironmans!!! I figure that if I’m going to hurt that badly, I better look cute!!!

You need to try the chocolate chip recipe that has the dry vanilla pudding pouch in it! OR ill send you the recipe!

I eat candy while reading in bed every night. It is the only way to end the day.

Definitely a hangry person if I go without food too long! My family knows it & makes sure I’ve got snacks around :) No make-up for me on race day. Sunscreen & chap stick, baby. Gonna sweat it all off anyway!

Reply

I always wear a bit of concealer and lip gloss even on race days. No eye make up though!

I hate being hungry! I needs my foods!

Oh, I love those pillows. I’m always hungry — even if I’m not 32-weeks pregnant right now, I LOVE FOOD.

I don’t wear make-up when I’m running ever because I sweat a lot and it’s gross. However, if you count my eyeliner — it’s tattooed on, that’s the only make-up I ever have on. I’ve had running friends that didn’t realize it and they’ve always asked me how my eyeliner would stay on perfectly. I think they’ll need a retouch up soon though — I had them done 10-years ago. I just don’t think I have the balls to do it again. IT HURT…

I wear makeup…not when I am doing training runs (as those are usually EARLY in the morning before people who might care are seeing me), but I do for races. The only makeup I don’t wear is eyeliner, cause that stuff BURNS when it gets in your eye due to sweat. Eyeshadow – stays put thanks to MaryKay primer, love that stuff – and no, I don’t sell it!

Reply

I usually put eyeliner on because I’m up early, so what else am I going to do besides twiddling my thumbs waiting to drive to the race? Also because I look alive with eyeliner.

Those faux pas are hilarious! I love that they can make fun of themselves- too short, shorts? Definitely tops my list for guys to avoid. ;)

I’m a daily runner fashion faux pas, LOL! I sport the compression socks with capri pants, I just own too many capri’s and I have to wear compression for my shin splints.

Can we add running in the race day shirt that you got for running in the race?
