I didn’t even know that was possible.

Just another afternoon of throwing our stuffed animals around the living room for a few hours.

We also hit up the pool and ate more toast.  I have a severe addiction lately.  I can’t stop.  It is like cereal…. so delicious and so easy to make.  At least I had some greens during the day in the form of juice.

DSC 3245

Groupon hooked us on another restaurant.

We met up with the crew to redeem our buy one get one free groupon.

Bread, steak, cheese and sautéed veggies… what more could you ask for?

DSC 3266

Birthdays really are the best.  The fact that we all get to enjoy delicious cake even when it isn’t our own birthday is really something to be grateful for.

DSC 3272 1

My friend made cake and frosting from scratch?  I didn’t even know that was possible….  turns out homemade cakes are a trillion times better than my wonderful boxed mixes.

I hope you get in a sunny/bright/happy/sweaty/endorphinated run this morning!!!   I get to run with the Billster, it has been months since our last run together.  Run date here we come.

Enjoy your run!!! I’m trying to force myself out the door as I type!!! :)

Homemade cakes are the best. My mom has been on a baking kick lately so we’re always eating some dessert from scratch which we never used to have. I’m not complaining at all. Have the best run date with Billy!!! I have another 9 days sans running. Let’s hope I survive!

Reply

you got it Sarah!!! just think how in 9 days you will be more excited then EVER to come back…and your legs are going to feel so FRESH!! :)

For my last b-day my husband surprised me with a “Hungry Healthy Girl” cake. It was so adorable and it was PB chip…..need I say more! Happy June to you!

Groupons are AWESOME! seriously such killer finds…

I am hoping for a long run today, but it is has been a constant rain-fest and wind-tunnel for 2 days now. Not real ideal for me…. ha so might push it back to tomorrow!! call me a wimp :)

3 miles of speed work this morning before it gets hot! It’s finally hot in Maine!!! …I really will eat any cake anyone puts in front of me if its loaded with frosting :)

Reply

Homemade cakes are the best without a doubt. My nan and mum taught me how to bake from an early age. Probably why my partner always expects me to bake up him some gooodies every weekend :)
I’ve been running on treadmills for ages now, and we’ve finally had a bit of sunshine in the UK, so I ventured out this morning into the countryside. It was hard going to say the least!
Have a great day!

Just a nice easy six since I was sick all week. It was good slow and very motivating since there were so many runners out this morning.
For my last birthday we went to Friendly’s for ice cream (my son thinks they have the best birthday song) and I got the “Hunka Chunka PB Fudge® Lava Cake Sundae”. It is sooo good and sooo not good for you but one must splurge on their birthday.
I always make box mixes but I always go to the cake shop and get their cupcakes made from scratch. Soooo yummy!
My sister is a groupon junky but I haven’t caught on yet.

Reply

LOVE groupon!! I bought fendi sunglasses that came yesterday :-) I use box mixes but I’ve made homemade frosting before and it’s awesome!

Reply

always prefer homemade from a mix. I haven’t had a birthday cake in years. I might buy myself one from Dairy Queen this year.

Reply

Today, I’ll be heading up to SF to do a course preview of the SF Marathon course (I’ll be a pacer for the first half… but I think I’ll end up running most of the full marathon route with my running group).
I love Groupon (and Amazon Local, Living Social, Google Offers, etc.)!
Hope you have a nice run with Billy!

Reply

Running with my mom this morning. She’s the one with the plan, I just go to be the pacer. It’ll be a lovely 7 with her…….then maybe a couple more to burn out the work week.
I do boxed more than homemade, but every homemade cake has been an addiction for me. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, so good!!!! I want cake for breakfast.

Reply

I bought a Groupon for bowling, one for a photo book and one for spin classes that I have yet to redeem. And thus far all my cakes are boxed, but my icing is homemade because it’s buttercream.

Reply

We’re looking to try out a new trail this weekend for our run, but we might stick to the Denver-Rio Grande one.

After working in a bakery for years, I sometimes am tired of cake. Last year I had a Think Thin bar with 2 candles in it for my birthday cake. Not very good for the hub, but just fine for me. I do, however, make all of the cakes for whoever requests them.

Reply

I love white cake with white icing for birthdays. And I do make all my cakes/desserts from scratch. I love me some baking in the kitchen. It’s my happy place.

Reply

I have 10 miles flat and pretty easy today, it’s going to be nice. I always make cake from scratch. The ingredients in the boxed cakes always scare me a little

Reply

The town I currently live in is too small to really have a lot of Groupons, but when I move in September I will be all over that website again!

My last birthday, I had red velvet cupcakes with buttercream frosting…pretty incredible :-D

Reply

I ran 3.5 miles in 31:57 at a 9’03” pace … I’m really happy because I felt really cruddy for the second half of my run and thought it was going to take a lot longer

A half vanilla/half chocolate one with ice cream and froyo later on …. I will never make that mistake again

I don’t do either with the cakes … I bought a cake mix once and my sister used it first

I don’t know what Groupon is …

Reply

Google groupon now. It might save your life lol

Reply

We did a 5K beach run down here in Ft Walton Beach, FL on vacation- it was the hardest run (on sand) that I have ever done – it was like running in quicksand! But we did it…not sure I would do it again though as I could tell I could easily injure myself w/ the uneven surface and ankle stress that happens!

Last groupon, hmmm I think it was for a local restaurant (Italian).

Reply

I hope this doesn’t make me sound like a creeper, but as a Northern California native home for the summer from grad school, I totally think you should have another froyo blog reader meetup…!

And the last groupon I bought was returned because I stupidly didn’t read the fine print haha. Whooooopsies.

Reply

I’ m taking today off from running.
The last groupon was the Body Shop one. I hope I remember to use it!

Reply

My last groupon was also for the Body Shop! I don’t normally shop there and it took me forever to decide what to purchase!

Reply

I so wish I could eat the amount of carbs you do ! :) Being diabetic I totally cant. There is some bread from Whole Foods that I so recommend ~ its their Quinoa/Flax Seed bread. So yummy toasted with some home made jam. The last Groupon we purchased was to this store out here called Mom’s Organic Market. It was for $10 off purchases. We only purchase these Groupons if they are a good deal :) Have a great weekend with the fam!

Just finished a 10 miler. First day of training for my first Marathon!!!! Pretty excited and nervous at the same time. I’ve done plenty of Half’s, so its time. It was a hard run for me today, trying to come bach from knee injury. Any advise or a first would be great!! As for groupon, we live over an hour from the closest big city, makes it hard to use them, would love too though!!

Reply

I love English muffin bread toasted. So tasty! I usually use boxed cake mix since I rarely have all the ingredients handy to make one from scratch.

Reply

I had wedding cake at my last birthday…my wedding cake since I got married the same month! Vanilla cake with chocolate ganoche filling. :)

I always make homemade frosting it just tastes so much better and its really easy! I use box mixes still though lol

Reply

Enjoy your run together!! :)
I’ve been hooked on toast too!! The past few days I’ve been toasting cinnamon/raisin English muffins and spreading them with peanut butter…. delicious!! :P
That’s the only way I make cakes anymore is from scratch!! That’s totally the best way to go! ;)
Have a great weekend! :)

Reply

I have red velvet cake for every birthday. It’s too good to switch up! Last groupon I bought was for archery lessons…I blame The Hunger Games and too many glasses of wine for that one.

Reply

Now don’t go volunteering to be tribute lol

Reply

Yay, I ran double digits for the first time since stress fracture diagnosis!
I don’t adore cake, but I do make all my cakes: I like a chocolate orange recipe for birthdays.

Reply

I’ve made cakes from scratch and from the box…sometimes the scratch cakes don’t turn out well because they are much more temperamental. You have to be precise, and that’s just not my specialty.

I’m going to do 5-6 miles today. I haven’t really decided yet! Lazy Saturday with no training plan…sounds good to me :)

Reply

I thrive off of groupons lol.
The last one I brought was actually two sports bras and they are fantastic!
Cake from scratch mmmmmmmhh – my mom makes caramel cake and icing from scratch for christmas! I’ve never made one from scratch though. I have cupcakes! About the same right? lol.
I went to this place called Dessert lady for my birthday and had the cake sampler with my friends which were five different cakes. I can’t recall them all but I know the strawberry shortcake was my fav!

Reply

I am doing 11 miles this morning, which is the most I’ve ever done for training! I should probably get going soon…but then again it’s only 45 degrees outside…

Reply

I am obsessed with toast right now too! so easy and do many different toppings! I ran with a running group this morning- a good time. Tomorrow I have a 10k!

Reply

My coastal run was quite eventful this morning. I tripped and fell flat on my face and stopped in a field for a potty break. First time ever in 5 years of running for both.

Last birthday was spent in madrid so I had churros and hot chocolate for breakfast and apple tart for lunch

I make cakes from scratch and buy betty crocker red velvet boxes

Last two groupons were for afternoon tea. Best groupon deal was for spa access and afternoon tea. We made sure we got our 15 dollars worth by doing a zumba class and eating the free fruit.

Reply

I always try to get Groupons for haircuts because you get a haircut + partial highlights with a REALLY good discount! I definitely love homemade baked goods over boxed, except Ghirardelli brownies. Those cannot be beat.

Reply

Lucky me got TWO cakes for my birthday this year. A spice cake and a cheesecake. And while i do love me some boxed… the best cake I’ve ever made was from scratch. It was a vanilla strawberry masterpiece, and I want to make it again now.

Reply

You’ve got to go with homemade! I gave up boxed mixes years ago, and I’ve never looked back!

Reply

The last Groupon I bought was for a pub that I hadn’t been to before. The boyfriend and I ended up having a pretty nice meal.

Reply

What are the details of your weekend run?
I just finished a 5.50 mile run this morning and it was 82 degrees at 6am! Gotta love AZ:)

What kind of cake did you have at your last birthday?
Didn’t have a cake for my last birthday;( we went to a restaurant and I got a sundae thing which was okay but I love me some strawberry shortcake…Fry’s makes an awesome kind!

Do you make homemade cakes or use the box mixes?
Ha! Box cake all the way, baby!

Do you ever buy Groupons? What was the last one that you bought?
Yes, I bought a pack of 3 bumper cases for my iphone 5. I love to look for local deals too and the goods.

Have fun on your run!

Reply

I did speed work for my run today.

For my last birthday I had a cake that was kind of a joke (it’s weird), but it was chocolate on chocolate. My old roommate used to make cakes and frosting from scratch and she would always make extra frosting and leave it in a bowl for me to eat in the fridge ;)

Reply

yum, that cake looks delicious! homemade is always better :)

i just bought a groupon for a package of 15 yoga classes! i’m excited to finally try yoga in a real studio :)

Reply

Just did my long run! 11.17 miles with an average pace of 10’14” which I am super happy about it.

My last birthday cake was this one http://www.letsdishrecipes.com/2013/02/chocolate-raspberry-layer-cake-with.html
but I used gluten free cake and I have no patience so I didn’t wait for the ganache to set and just sorta dumped it all over the cake. Easily the best thing I have ever eaten.

Homemade cake is better than cake mix but cake mix is easier.

I don’t participate in the groupon/living social hooplah. I have just never seen anything that I would need to buy on there.

Reply

No run, but biked with a friend i hadn’t seen in a while! We went 21 miles and though we’re in Florida, it was breezy and bearable! I forgot how much I love biking.

Last groupon?? SKYDIVING! Cannot wait slash yes I can. I’m terrified and excited all at the same time :)

Reply

Homemade cakes are ALWAYS better (unless the person making them isn’t a very good baker, of course. LOL). This cake looked delicious!

We had mini cheesecakes on vanilla wafers for my birthday cake this past year.

Girl, you gotta take a road trip to Philly if you want an authentic cheesesteak! Just picture grease rolling down your chin.. YUM!!!

Reply

I had an ice cream cake at my last birthday. How could you ever want more than cake and ice cream together? :) The froyo place by my house has come out with froyo cakes, so that’s what I’m requesting for my next birthday!

Reply

I love homemade bday cakes and always plan on doing it until I realize I didn’t leave myself enough time… Pretty much everytime! haha

Run date for me today too :) I hope you guys have a great run together!

Reply

7 miles today and was running faster.. My heart rate was up to 161 max (hills) and avg HR 140..

Question? When you run… what’s your avg heart rate?

Store bought lardy cake.. love box mixes.. Cake is good anytime.. I some times buy myself one slice and love it frozen!!

1 Groupon for a German place.

Reply

That cake looks deelish! Yay for running dates. I hope you guys have a blast. I get to go up to Park City with the hubs and have a getaway baby free, can’t wait!

Reply

I’m hoping to get 7 or 8 miles in tomorrow….it’s perfectly sunny in SoCal, so I pray I get a little sun (no burns!)

My last birthday cake was a Frozen Custard cake. My brother and SIL did a good job picking it out for me!

Both box mix and from scratch cakes work for me….depends on how much time I have. Here’s a great recipe for your own frosting! (Careful…it’s trouble! http://tastykitchen.com/recipes/desserts/thate28099s-the-best-frosting-ie28099ve-ever-had/ )

The last Groupon I bought was for a massage……ohhh yeah!

Reply

I got 9 miles in this morning at altitude…..eck! I’m a midwestern gal so the run was tough but very good!

The last birthday cake I had was mine. It was chocolate cake with chocolate and caramel icing from Whole Foods. It was so delicious!

Birthday cakes are usually store bought but we make cakes every so often. My pineapple upside down cake is killer.

Reply

Spending time with someone over 4 looks like fun! Since Thursday, I’ve had 5 kids under 4–my 3 and 2 of my BFF. And it’s a good thing she’s my BFF or I would never have agreed to do this ;) But because of extra kids, I haven’t run since Wednesday :( I seriously need to fix that.

I make cakes out of boxes and cakes from scratch. They’re all good!

Reply

LOVE that you guys have run dates. So sweet! Craig & I try- we take Gabriella in the BOB….but half the time it’s just him jumping in front of the stroller trying to make her laugh- haha!

Reply

Peanut butter and strawberry jelly toast is the best. Ever!

Reply

I had fries for the first time in a couple of months yesterday. SO good!!!

Reply

LOVE groupons! i buy them all the time. that and living social. great deals and that is pretty much the only way we ever eat out besides subway and taco bell.
and i just made my adorable 3 year old a homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. so much healthier (applesuce and less sugar) and it was way better tasting than the store bought chemically version.

Reply

HaHa! I sometimes call my hubby the Billster, too!

I ran in the VA Wine Country Half today and it was HOT and humid! I ended up in the medical tent for cold water and cold wet towels for the first time ever in my racing career…

I’m so lazy that I’m a cake mix kind of girl!

Reply

Tomorrow run will include 5 miles! Rainy stormy day so looking like a boring treadmill run is on the agenda.
My favorite cake is Spice cake with vanilla frosting. Yummy!
I use both.. Mostly box mixes though! Gotta cheat sometimes! But I agree that the homemade are the best tasting especially frosting… Umm. Too bad it’s 11pm because I want one now.
I love Groupons! My sis and I always get the mani/ pedi deals!

Reply

I ran the Zooma Annapolis Half Marathon this morning! It was very hot but I managed to finish in 1:48:27. :-). Now I want cake!

Reply

It was a friends birthday today and we had chocolate cake with cookies and cream frosting and oreos on top. Mmmm. Missed my morning run due to some serious sleep issues and having to work all day, but 9 planned for tomorrow.

Reply

I love your Bangs friend’s haircut!! :)

Reply

I know what it’s like to have an addiction to toast + cheese and jelly…so, so good. I would always get weird looks at work for making it – totally worth it!

Reply

I love GroupOn and Brads Deals. The bargains are so awesome I want to get them all whether I need them or not!

Reply

Yum, looks delicious! I love homemade cake/frosting, so good!
