Favorite Things Party and The Sliver Game

Hung out poolside with these two.

Then I played the sliver game with my s’mores bars.  You know, the game were you cut yourself a sliver of deliciousness and then you are forced to even out the line and that game just keeps going on and on for roughly 10 minutes.

For dinner I had a chicken and tortilla salad.   Dinner for 1 = me putting absolutely no effort into it.

Last night I went to a party with the theme ‘Your Favorite Things.’  Each person brought three gifts (under $10 for each gift) that included some of your favorite things to exchange with other people.  Brilliant party theme.

Nail polish and gum, two of my most favorite things ever.  Fruity gum to be specific so that it tastes like I am chewing starbursts all day long.

We also all brought our favorite summer desserts:

Basically I sat around with my friends last night eating dessert and giving each other presents.  I feel very good about it.   I think we need to do this theme as a blogger party but I have a feeling we would all give each other running stuff….. which would also be amazing.

Wow I wish my friends had parties like that! Usually we don’t really make desserts, we just sit around eating ice cream from the cartons and call it a party. The sliver game is the best… Until you run out of dessert to eat and then it’s the worst.

Reply

I love the slivers game! And I’m quite partial to the crumbs and broken pieces game as well ;)

That’s seriously such an awesome party theme. I’m pretty sure that I would bring nail polish or some kind of makeup as well – the beauty junkie in me does a serious happy dance over that kind of stuff. And YES to chewing gum. I try to keep it to just a few pieces a day, and I’m not sure I could choose between fruity or minty, but I definitely need to have something with me at all times.

Reply

Totally agree with crumbs and broken pieces! I’m the worst about the slivers game. Joes like get a plate!!! What a cute party :-)

Reply

That party sounds awesome! What did you end up coming home with?

I chew gum occasionally…like if I have terrible breath and can’t brush my teeth right away.

I’m not sure what I would have brought. Probably candy.

Reply

What gifts did you get?

Reply

Trader joes goodies, kitchen stuff and bath and body works pedicure scrub! I probably should have included a picture ha!

Reply

What a fun idea for a party! I think you nailed it with that gift (ha ha pun not even intended, just a happy bonus :) ) and yep, i know the sliver game all too well. its like my favorite game. and i think my favorite summer themed dessert would have to be popsicles or ice cream or something like that.

Reply

What a great idea!! I chew gum allll day. I do trident or orbitz. I always buy one pack of mint and one of berry. Then I alternate all day long : ) When it comes to gifting… It would be chocolate. Something chocolate for sureee.

Reply

Yesterday I bought the DIY fixings for a special pillow for under $5. I also bought Builder bars on sale at Target for about $5. Both made my day!

I love my Mom’s strawberry shortcake goop dessert. It’s perfect in the summer, but she makes it whenever I ask- probably because we live so far apart (and/or she loves her youngest daughter).

Reply

Can I get that recipe? I love strawberry shortcake!!! Thanks.

Sue,

It’s a food miracle! In the about-to-move state of our place, I found the recipe. Here you go.

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

1 package of strawberry Jell-O
I package frozen strawberries
1 Tablespoon white sugar
Pinch of salt
1/2 angel food cake torn in pieces
1/2 pint heavy whipping cream (side note- I think my Mom uses Cool Whip instead… in fact, I’m quite sure she does.)

Dissolve Jell-O in 1 1/2 cup boiling water. Stir in thawed berries, sugar, and salt. Cool until it begins to thicken. Fold in the whipped cream [ed- or Cool Whip]. Cover bottom of 9 inch pan with half of the torn cake, pour half of the Jell-O mixture over the torn cake, and make another layer of cake and berries.

Refrigerate 4-5 hours.

*Do not let the mixture freeze or it will not work*

My own take- Mom makes this in a 9×13 pan Pyrex dish. It’s very easy to transport leftovers (I used to take some home with me when I lived closer).

Hope you enjoy!

Wendy

Thanks so much. I have to make a dessert for something this weekend. I think this is going to be it. Have a great weekend.

I had a sort of silly problem I began spndieng more money when I became more active in book discussion groups online. People would suggest books and I would buy cheap used copies online. Sometimes the copies only cost $.01! (But nearly $4.00 in shipping and handling.)And I spent far too much money on these books and my house became far too full of them, and the packing material went to landfill, often I gave a lot of books to Goodwill, but still was sort of drowning in them! Now I buy very few books. I made a great discovery. I found keeping a notebook by the computer and writing down the titles of the books I’m moved to buy, usually satisfies my impulse! I don’t actually have to buy them. (And often I can get them from the library, anyway.) It’s so funny. I don’t need to buy them anymore. I have a small amount in my budget for buying books that I really want to have, but no money for impulse buying.

Reply

I totally was always playing the sliver game as a kid! Before I knew it there was basically half a cake left ;)
That sounds like such a great party theme, I’m all over that one.
I’m definitely a gum chewer- I always have at least a few couple packages on me at all times. You can never have too much.

Reply

That’s a fantastic party favor idea – I’m planning my friends baby shower, I’ll have to keep that in the back of my mind!

My favorite thing under $10 is lip gloss/chapstick.

Reply

I LOVE this idea. And I love how fancy your parties always are – little bags and cute deserts.

My favourite thing for under $10 would be……. Man that’s tough! Eyeshadow. Different colours for different moods and outfits. Do you want to be smouldering goddess today, or a cheerful chappie?

My favourite go to meal for one is scrambled eggs and ham. Or pizza if I’m feeling rich enough…..

Hope you have a good day!!

Reply

Love the nail polish idea. My roommates used to always give me a stocking full of nailpolish for Christmas lol I’d also love a travel cup with a straw for my iced chai tea :)

Reply

I’m soooo nosy! What was in your personal party bags?! :) This looks like it was soooo much fun.

I am a terrible gum chewer. I always end up swallowing a bunch of air and feeling awful after lol. Gum probably isn’t the best thing for me. :/

xoxo Lauren

What a great party idea! You have awesome friends.
And yes, if you did a blogger party you would get all running items.
Not a bad idea! Lets do it! ;-)

Reply

Egg sandwich my go to for one.

I change my coffee mug every month to match the season…..valentines for feb., flowers for April, you get the idea, so I would have brought July mugs.

Reply

Sounds like such a fun party idea!
And I know all about the sliver game. Sometimes it gets too out of hand!
My favourite summer dessert is definitely fruit pizza, but I haven’t had it in ages! Maybe I’ll make some this weekend with red berries in spirit of canada day!

Reply

I love that party idea! How exactly does it work though? You bring three items but there’s more than three people…how do you decide who gets what? I loooove the person who brought pride and prejudice. Best movie! I would definitely include crystal light energy powder and a Burt’s bees Chapstick. Obsessed.

Reply

omg I’m with you on that essie nail polish! I’m obsessed right now!

Reply

That sounds like such a fun party idea!!

I always have gum and I usually have 1 pack of minty flavored and 1 pack fruity flavored. Minty is for work and fruity is for home because my hubby hates mint flavor lol! I know, this is kind of ridiculous.

If it was a mixed group (i.e. not all runners…otherwise the answer to this would be very different) I would probably bring either a cute summer scarf ($6 at H&M) or a pretty accessory from Target.

My go-to dinner when I’m cooking for myself is usually either 1) Hardboiled eggs with butter and lots of salt and pepper, or 2) cereal… duh :) I don’t like putting in any unnecessary effort when I don’t have to!

Have a great weekend!!

Reply

I agree a blog party like that would be great! I’d be willing to spend $200 on a plane ticket just to go. I’m not a gum person.. I’ve actually had kind of a phobia since I can remember. Maybe I got it stuck in my hair once, IDK.
Best Summer dessert hands down are Ice Cream Sundaes! Bonus if you have a huge variety of toppings to choose from.

Reply

You have the greatest friends who come up with some awesome party ideas!!

I would have had to make a stop at VS for their Love Spell lotion. It is the best smelling stuff EVER. It smells like candy to me and how can you go wrong with that?

Oh, and whoever thought to bring the platter with strawberries and dark chocolate squares: Genius!!!

Reply

First- I think that is the BEST party idea, ever! Dessert, presents and wine- could NOT be more perfect!

I’m not so much a gum chewer… my husband is, though, so I usually try to have some on me. He likes the blue Trident gum. It’s minty.

Essie nail polish was genius, and I may have brought that as well. I love nail polish. I might have also brought cheese-its, chick-fil-a giftcards, and/or lip gloss. Or Burt’s Bees chapstick.

Summer desserts have to have fruit. My favorite summer dessert is probably my MIL’s homemade strawberry shortcake or lemon angelfood cake with strawberries on top. Both are heavenly- and topped with her homemade whipped cream, too! (Healthy, right?)

If I’m absolutely eating by myself, it’s either salad or a green smoothie. I agree, I put NO effort into cooking for 1.

Reply

I’m game for a runner themed party! Where do I sign up?

At least you cook when it’s just you. I’m usually a bowl of cereal kind of girl!

Reply

Very cool idea!!! Just a party for fun…that is cute :). I should do that for my kids and some friends :)! I LOVE gum…actually I am pretty sure I can’t run without it. I like several kinds but I really like Orbit spearmint. Hmmmm…I might would have bought a fun cup with crystal light lemonade drink mix to go in it!!!
My favorite dessert anytime of the year is ice cream….but I love patrioc themed stuff with the strawberries and blueberries too.
Dinner for one=easy. More often than not cereal :)!

Reply

What an awesome party idea! My mom makes this awesome summer dessert with angel food cake, pudding, whipped cream, and summer berries. You layer it all up and dig in. Yum! I also love to make this easy cobbler recipe with fresh picked blueberries. It’s super simple and the main ingredient is boxed yellow cake mix. Favorite under $10 items? Chapstick, note cards & candy!

Reply

My favorite gum right now is Ice Cubes peppermint. I work in the medical field and i think it’s unprofessional to chew gum at work, but I still do sometimes :) Every dessert on that table would be my favorite summer dessert! Dinner for 1 is usually cereal or popcorn with M&M’s sprinkled in it. That party looks like so much fun!

Reply

That party sounds so fun! I’d definitely participate in a favorite things mail blog party. My three favorite things (for summer time) under $10 would be flip-flops, a book, and a coffee mug.

I don’t chew gum. I have horrible TMJ and gum makes it ten times worse.

My favorite summertime dessert are frozen popsicles – like yogurt and fruit. And my go-to meal for one is spaghetti or egg sandwiches.

Reply

What a fun idea for a party! I’d have chosen a book of some sort to bring. :)

Reply

Go to dinner for 1 – pasta. You can make as little or as much as you need to.

I really like Orbit Sweet Mint gum. It’s the only kind of gum that I’ve ever carried around with me. Normally I like to chew gum, but I never remember to buy it.

Reply

Go to dinner=BRINNER!!!

I always like spearmint gum because that is what my grandpa always gave us! :)

Reply

I do in gum phases, once I went about 8 months without any gum! I prefer fruity gum but no specific brand.
A Starbucks gift card? lol I might need to be more creative, love the idea though!
Probably a Screamer – which is a slush and soft serve ice cream served together. We are going this weekend to have our first of the summer :)
Almond butter and banana toast? haha Or soup and grilled chese. If my husband is not home I usually have Subway though.

Reply

What?! That is a genius idea! I am definitely going to suggest this to my group of friends. What could be better than delicious foods and presents? That’s what I thought, nothing!

Reply

I am definitely a gum chewer and I am definitely aware of how bad this obsession is. I am an extra lover… really any of the minty flavors. I don’t do fruity gum- makes no sense to me.
My go to favorite meal for 1 is eggs with pico de gallo and avocado with a whole lot of fruit on the side. Yum!

Reply

Sounds like such a fun idea! I haven’t chewed gum in years! I gave up anything with artificial sweeteners (Splenda, etc), so I sadly had to give up my beloved gum. :(

My favorite summer dessert would be key lime pie.

All my meals are for one since I live alone, but I do love a bowl of cereal when I’m not in the mood for cooking.

Reply

What a completely awesome party idea!! Favorite summer dessert is a berry pie and go-to meal for one is huge beastly salad. I have totally played the sliver game….many times!

Reply

wow what an awesome party!! i definitely want to do this with my friends.

go to dinner for one: hmmm either eggs, leftovers, or like multiple items like a quesadilla, yogurt, and carrots.

Reply

I love the idea of doing a runner “favorite things” gift exchange! If I were limited to $10, I’d put cherry cola Honey Stinger chews, Clif Shot gel(s), and a single serving of Endurox R4 in my bags. If money were no limit, I’d gift Brooks shoes or maybe compression socks. I also play the sliver game–desserts must have even edges! :) My favorite summer themed dessert is pretty much anything with berries or other summer fruit in it. Have a great day!!

Reply

That is a great idea for a party, but I have no idea what I’d take.

Reply

I have been wanting to have a “Favorites Thing” party for ages. So cute. What did you end up coming home with?!

Reply

So cool!!!! I think my friends and I might have to do that for a girls weekend this year!

Reply

I would probably have brought some kind of candy like reeses cups

Reply

That is the best party theme ever, definitely adding it to my list of party themes!!

Reply

I would bring nail polish and…..probably gum too lol I’m ALWAYS chewing gum. I love Orbit Peppermint :) Only flavor and brand I have found that doesn’t harden up on me which = no jaw problems :) Favorite summer dessert would have to be froyo ;)

Reply

Favorite summer dessert is probably angel food cake w/ strawberries and whipped cream, so simple!

Reply

I really want to be in that pool right now…I’m coming to visit :).

I chew gum after every meal…I prefer minty gum but I will chew fruity stuff too.

Favorite summer time dessert…a trifle with layers of funfetti cake, cool whip, pudding and cool whip mixture, and strawberries!

Favorite things under $10…hair ties (one can never have too many), nail polish, chapstick, fun socks!

Reply

LOVE that party theme– that’s SO much fun! And Essie nail polish?! You would have been my best friend haha!

Reply

Favorite summer themed dessert would be fruit salad with lots of whipped cream. I so would have bought nail polish too!

Reply

Oh I like minty gums! The fruity ones are good, but if I had the choice I’d go winter green or spear mint or something like that.
haha all my dinners are dinners for 1! So whatever I can get my hands on.
I think I would either give chocolate or a gift card to my favorite froyo place

Reply

That looks like a fun fun fun and super cool party! I love it! And the fruit deserts look sooo delicious! Yes I’m in for a running blogger’s party! :) I have ideas already of what to give! :) LOL!

Reply

a present/dessert/running party is in order! let’s all meet in the middle of country, sit in a circle, and do it.

Reply

What a fun party idea! I don’t chew much gum because it makes my jaw click. Your dinner for 1 is exactly how I do dinner when it is just me. When my husband is home for dinner I will cook but when he’s not I put together some random meal of leftovers.

Reply

Gum is SOOO bad for you!!! :( Look at the ingredients… I’m being a kill joy, I know…
I’m such a stickler for artificial sweetners though since it wrecked my body… but they do have natural mints at a health food store that are AWESOME! :)

Reply

I spot Pride and Prejudice on that table!! I already have a copy, but would have a hard time not picking that for my present loot! (or pressure everyone else to pick it as their present to take home)

I would have to pick chapsticks from EOS for one of my items to give away, I use it everyday.

Reply

I believe the slivers game is my saving grace. I can honestly say, then, that I didn’t even have a piece of the dessert. Only a sliver ;-)

I am a stride gum chewer all the way. It seems like the only gum which lasts a while!

My favorite summer dessert is probably ice cream or frozen yogurt!

Reply

Very cute idea and it could work with so many different age groups and groups of people in general. Love it and the “Average price” every one can handle these days. ;-)

Reply

Not a gum chewer – I have dental implants and they told me it was a no-no, I haven’t had gum in nearly ten years :(

I love the favorite things party and probably would have brought a Starbucks gift card, because I’m a coffee addict.

Favorite summer dessert is a trifle made with angel food cake, whipped cream mixed with crushed pineapple and instant vanilla pudding mix, then layered with fresh berries. Super yum!

Dinner for one around here is usually cereal.

Reply

I’ve never been into chewing gum.I chew it on flights every so often, and always mint/spearmint.

I probably would’ve given an EOS lip balm ball and a Take 5 bar.

Dinner for 1 is either something husband hates (sweet potato, any sort of squash, anything sweet) or something super easy- scrambled eggs and toast or a grilled cheese sandwich.

Reply

Just finished marathon #3 in Kona.. NO ITBS PAIN!! I changed shoes, focused on mid foot strike instead of heel and focused on weight training. It was slow but sure felt good to finish without knee pain!

Reply

I’m so happy to hear I’m not the only one who plays the sliver game!

My favorite dinner for 1 meal is a sandwich: delicious bread, spinach, hummus, mustard, avocado, onion, tomato, and hot peppers.

Reply

Great party idea but how did everyone pick their gifts since there were more than 3 people at the party.

Reply

I should have explained that better! Each of our names were in a bowl three times and each person would choose three names out to give their gift to! Does that make sense?

Reply

OMG girl, I truly believe we’re twins from different parents or something: I ALWAYS play the sliver game with cakes and pies! I cut myself a tiny little slice and then I keep cutting to make a straight line and end up eating half of the thing… Or sometimes, I decide to bake something just because I’m craving the dough! I know, WEIRDO!

I always have dinner for one as the BF works until late… it’s usually salad+chicken o anything that doesn’t require anything more than 5min to be prepared!

Reply

I went to a favorite things party a few months ago. There were 7 of us though and we had to bring a present for 7 people. I brought my fave exercise DVD for everyone. lol. I am pretty sure I will never be invited to one of those parties again ;) I almost brought everyone dry shampoo though, sooooo. But whatevs. I love working out and I hate washing my hair. I would marry dry shampoo if I could!

That dessert table looks AMAZING! My favorite summer dessert is fruit pizza. I could play the ‘sliver’ game all night long with that. Let’s be honest though. I play the sliver game with every dessert. I do it with ice cream too. When I eat it straight from the carton (sshhhh) and I have to make the ice cream all even. But then a chunk of whatever comes out in a spoonful so I HAVE TO keep going and make it all even again ;)

Reply

I like your favorite things! What kind of dry shampoo do you like?

Reply

I buy the el cheapo kind – just Suave from the grocery store. But it works great for me and I actually really like the way it smells :)

Reply

This is an excellent thing to do. It’s only when loonikg back, like you did, that we can see minor spends’ on things like magazines which have already made it to the bin, chocolates which we already wish we hadn’t eaten, water, when we know that there is a perfectly good empty bottle waiting to be filled from the tap, and other trivia, that we realise that we really, really did not need to spend on those things. And you are right, they ADD UP.One of my sisters-in-law, a heavy smoker, gave up but continued to draw out in cash each week the amount that she would have puffed away. Now, I wouldn’t advise carrying the money around for weeks like she did, but it made her feel so good. She is now the proud owner of the most beautiful heavy rose gold chain, really long, which she wears all the time as a reminder of where that money would have gone otherwise. This would not be everyone’s idea of an appropriate spend, but it is an impressive way of showing that we really can choose to waste money or not.

Reply

I used to be a gum chewer in high school, but I don’t really like it anymore!

I probably would have brought nail polish too, that’s smart and who wouldn’t want to get some nice, new Essie polish ;)

My go to dinner for 1 is usually just a throw everything together with whatever I have in the fridge kind of salad!

Reply

I do like to chew gum but it most definitely cannot taste anything like toothpaste, so cinnamon, fruity, or bubblegum flavor is usually what I choose.
I actually hosted a favorite things party about two months ago. Ours was 5 gifts at under $6, here’s what I used http://compare.ebay.com/like/140778344242?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar. I also gave away my favorite ice cream :) My favorite summer dessert is a jello poke cake (yummy!) My go to dinner for 1 is usually a bowl of oatmeal.

Reply

a huge gum chewer- trying to wean myself down but its hard! extra is a good brand.

hmm the favorite thing I would have brought? those thick headbands from lululemon–love them. are they under 10? maybe close to it. maybe like 12 or something

been loving angel food cake, berries with tons of homemade whipped cream.

eggs/cheese, old bay potatoes with ketchup, toast

Reply

I am obsessed with Extra’s Lemon Square flavored gum….I make a special trip to Target (the only place that has it) every couple weeks for a few of the economy packs :) One of these days I’ll probably pull my crown off with as much gum as I chew!

My favorite summer theme dessert is this ice cream sundae bar concoction…it is phenomenal and so easy to make!

1 (16 ounce) can chocolate syrup

3/4 cup peanut butter

24 ice cream sandwiches

1 large container Cool Whip, thawed

1 cup salted peanuts

Directions:

Pour the chocolate syrup into a medium microwave safe bowl and microwave 2 minutes on high. Do not allow to boil. Stir peanut butter into hot chocolate until smooth. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Line the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish with a layer of ice cream sandwiches. Spread half the whipped topping over the sandwiches. Spoon half the chocolate mixture over that. Top with half the peanuts. Repeat layers. Freeze until firm, 1 hour. Cut into squares to serve.

Reply

That’s such a great idea! Can’t wait to do that with my friends!

I can’t even think of anything I would give right now because I was reading everyone else’s ideas first haha…

I don’t chew gum often but I always keep some in the car if I ever have to grocery shop while I’m hungry because I always buy too much unless I’m chewing it haha. (We are on a strict budget right now).

I love anything with fresh berries for a summer themed dessert!

Reply

Oooh! Got my favorite things item!! I would bring old navy flip flops! I pretty much live in flip flops all year round here and it’s a go to joke with friends and family :) I always say I wear flip flops in the rain because I really really hate wet socks!

Reply

I would have brought peanut butter, chap stick, and a fuzzy blanket. Haha what can I say, I love comfort ;)

Reply

Ooh that’s hard but I would prob say bail polish too, Chapstick, or peanut m&ms

Reply

That is the best idea for a party I have ever seen or heard of. Mind. Blown.

Reply

I’d say my favorites would be a dark chocolate bar, gum, and some good chapstick…all things I have/use on the reg :)

Reply

Okay. Best party theme EVER!!! I would definitely have brought nail polish too! I love it!

xo

Reply

What a fun night!! That would be a great idea! when you come visit utah again lets DO it!

Reply

Ok, Gum and nail polish… Essie at that is hands down the greatest idea ever. It’s seriously hard for me to think of anything I love more than those. (Ok, maybe froyo and candy tie)

And the “Sliver Game” It tends to go on until I go to bed as opposed to 10 minutes, whoops!

Reply

What a nice little party!! How do you choose who gets which gift then?
I used to chew a ton of gum but one week it got crazy while studying.. like my jaw was sore and I kept chewing.. so I gave it up and don’t have gum ever now

hmm my favorite thing.. a jar of raw TJs almond butter? that’s like 8 dollars there..

All of my dinners are for one! haha my go-to is quinoa with sweet potato, carrots, and edamame. I make a bunch of it and portion & freeze so I just throw it on the skillet when I get home

Reply

I love the party theme. I’m going to use it on my next ‘girl’s night-in’ in August.

Reply

I want to go to that party!!! Can we do that when you come visit again?

Reply

I would have brought three $10 Chipotle gift cards! :-) That aqua sideboard that the gifts are on is gorgeous! I feel like I should be pinning it to one of my Pinterest boards!

My favorite go to dinner is salmon, asparagus, and a salad! I like strawberry trifle for a summer dessert. I haven’t made one in forever!

Reply

Who ever it was that brought the bowl of chopped Cantaloupe for their favorite desert is now my favorite of all your friends. They obviously know where its at. Nothing better than a metric ton of Cantaloupe after a run. Its perfection.

Reply

I *love* the idea of a favorite things party!! I’m already brainstorming when I can have my own, who I’ll invite and what my favorite things will be!

When I’m on my own, I hit up the whole foods salad bar. Because when I’m on my own I dig spending $15 on vegetable goodness.

Reply

What a cool party idea! I would probably take nail polish too… soooo obsessed!! And socks. I love funky socks!

Reply

I am drooling over those s’mores bars right now! I’m always a sucker for sweets, especially in the afternoon/evening… Maybe that will be a good weekend baking adventure :)

My husband has been gone for the last two weeks, so I’ve been making (or not making) many meals for “1”. Usually I enjoy meal-planning, but these days I’ve eaten WAY too many ham, cheese, and spinach wraps. He’s coming home tomorrow so now I’ll eat “real” food again :)

Reply

I need to make those s’mores recipes. My husband loves anything s’mores and would die if I made these.
The party food looks delicious.

Reply

So easy to go through a pan of brownies evening things out. Especially the chocolate chip kind because the chips always make the line bumpy.

Reply

hhmmm…maybe a VS lipgloss (Passion Fruit Pop – to be exact)

Reply

All these themed nights you go to are amazing. I have a group of girls that I get together with once a month….I might have to start imposing themes on our get togethers! For summer desserts I make a “lemon lush” that I love and I think trifles are always a big hit in the summer too.

Reply

That looks totally fun and I want to have a party like that! How did ya’ll exchange the gifts?

Reply

The favorite things theme is such a good idea!

My favorite flavor of gum is bubblemint. I know it sounds weird at first, but those two flavors go together so well!

Reply

Oh my gosh I am queen of the sliver game. It’s so much easier to justify eating half a pan when you can say “I picked at it” instead of “I ate 8 squares” haha.

In the summer there’s no better dessert to me than a big soft serve vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles. It’s perfect and screams summer!

Reply

That looks like a super fun party! I would probably end up bringing epsom salts. I’m a sucker for a bath post hard run.

Reply

Hahahh the sliver game.. my favorite game!

Reply

Gosh, my favorite gum- Trident Bubblegum.. I know I’m a boring chica! But sometimes I like to spice my life up with some Big Red :P

Favorite summer dessert- any crisp. I love the topping on top … I dont care what fruit it is :) Sometimes I forget the fruit exists.

Reply

I had this new kind of gum. Don’t know what brand, but it was green apple and pineapple. Really yummy!! And I probably would have brought my new favorite chapstick (called softlips) and dark chocolate. Favorite summer themed dessert would have to be sorbet. I love mixing frozen blueberries and strawberries, and then fresh squeezed orange juice into the vitamix and thoroughly blending. Perfect for summer!

Reply

The sliver game is always the death of me, because I end up eating the entire pan. Oops. :(

Reply

Me and gum have a love hate relationship lol. I chew a few pieces a day (I cut back from a pack a day lol) it makes me feel sick if I chew to much, and causes me to bloat, but it’s been a tough habit to break!!

Reply

I might have to steal that idea for a party in the future, sitting around eating dessert and giving each other presents? Doesn’t get any better than that.

Reply

I love that idea for a party!!

Reply

How did the gift exchange go? Obviously each person didn’t have enough for everyone there so could you just pick 2-3 things that you wanted? I only want to know so I can throw a party like this for my friends!

Reply

Hey!!!! We all put our name in a bowl three times so when it was time to give away your gift you would pick out three names to give your gift too! Does that make sense?

My coder is trying to persuade me to move to .

I have heard very good things about blogengine.
