Brooke thinks that the calculator is her cell phone.

Brooke is obsessed with our phones.  I had the brilliant idea of giving her a calculator and she totally thinks it is a smart phone.  The airline people didn’t even make her turn it off  when we took off or landed.

I love bringing oatmeal to the airport and then just asking a coffee shop for some hot water.  Try it.

She thinks she is soooooo cooooool.  She made at least 10 new best friends on the flight.

IMG 9019

I chose to eat at Woody Creek during my layover in Denver for one reason.  I saw that they were giving out free cookies with the meal.  Best decision I have made in weeks.

DSC 1919

I had a southwestern chipotle salad (delicious) and chicken salad sandwich (extra delicious) and that cookie before your eyes…. yeah, the best cookie I have ever had.  Already looking forward to my trip to Arizona because I have a layover in Denver again and will be buying 38 cookies for myself.

ON OUR WAY TO UTAH NOW!!!!

What are 5 things you are going to do this weekend?

When/where/what was the best cookie that you have ever had?

What kind of phone do you have?

My daughters love to play with phones too! We have several old cell phones that the girls play with. Right now my three-year-old will call her friends and have conversations. The other night I asked her to do something, and she said to me, ‘Just a sec. I have to make a quick call.’ Oh dear! My 1-year-old tries to steal my smartphone all the time and play with it. Safe travels this weekend!

And that’s a delicious-looking airport meal, especially the cookie! Will have to check Woody Creek out next time I fly through Denver.

Airport cookies always taste the best! When I saw you instagram the picture of Brooke in the seat on the plane it made me so excited to start nannying again this summer. She’s by far the most adorable baby I have ever seen!

Reply

Brooke looks soooo much like Billy in that first picture!!!!

Have a great time with your family!! Can’t wait to read about Curly!! :)

Reply

You came the perfect weekend! The weather has been GORGEOUS!

Reply

Oh gosh, I just died laughing at how dumb I am. In that top picture it kind of looks like your arm is brooks and that she is wearing your watch. I had to look at it way too long to realize you didn’t put your jewelry on her.

Have a great flight and enjoy your family!

This weekend were going to the lake and having a crawfish boil!

Reply

I flew to Atlanta this week, and I brought oatmeal too! The hotel had a coffee station so I just got hot water! Easy peasy and cheap!
Brooke is so cute on the plane. You have an amazing baby!!
Today is my son’s birthday so we’re celebrating this weekend!!

Ahhh so exciting! Is Brooke a good flier? She looks like it! This weekend I will be celebrating two birthdays and homework!

Reply

Best cookies I’ve ever had were homemade orange creamsicle cookies. Holy crap, they were amazing (if I do say so myself).

Hope you’re having a good time in Utah! Some stuff I’m going to do this weekend: run a 5K race on Sunday, study my butt off for Monday’s exam and probably eat a lot of food while doing that. :)

Reply

The whole meal looks fabulous!! Brookers is soooooo cute!! Have a fabulous time in Utah!

Reply

Wow that calculator idea is genius!

I’m going to go to a Cupcake Festival, celebrate Cinco de Mayo, go to kickboxing and finally clean (in order of importance)

My college roomies mom used to make Monster Cookies (packed with everything you can possibly imagine). They were so good, but bad for the Freshman 15 ;-)

I have an iPhone!

Reply

A cupcake festival sounds like my kind of festival!

Reply

Brooke is so cool! (and adorable) and I don’t know how you’ll go so long without seeing your hubby, will you be able to facetime??

I will be..
1. Yoga Sculpt
2. Walk
3. Run?
4. Wine?
5. Margarita or Julep?

4 & 5 sound fun! Let me know if you need company!

Can I be Brooke’s BFF?

This weekend: Walk for Animals, Good-bye party, Birthday Party, Run, and Laundry! I *finally* got a new phone (google nexus) after years with Old Faithful, my Samsung gleam flip phone. I still have it just in case!

Reply

The best cookie I’ve ever had was a chocolate chip I made myself. I have an iphone5…but i want the Blackberry z10

Reply

I hope you and Brooke have fun in Utah! :) She looks so big now. Calculators are the best at tricking kids into thinking they are phones. I give them to my nieces and nephews, and they are usually satisfied. :)

Reply

5 things: Dinner with my girlfriends tonight at Olive Garden (we love that place.. a lot), Kentucky Derby themed bridal shower tomorrow, church on Sunday, dinner for my stepmom’s birthday on Sunday evening and lots of cuddling with my dog because I love him to pieces!

The best cookie ever is Cheddar’s skillet cookie with ice cream! Ours closed down, but I’ve been told you can make a similar one by rolling out premade choc. chip cookie dough and baking it on the pizzazz… I think I might try that!

Have so much fun in Utah with your family!

Reply

Brooke is so big sitting in that airplane chair!!! Ahhh I can’t believe it! Have a wonderful time in Utah!

Reply

I have an iphone5 and my 18 month old loves to walk around with it up to his ear and “talk” on the phone. It’s hilarious. He has a bunch of toy cell phones but I guess they don’t fool him cause he always wants the real deal!

No major plans this weekend, long run, grocery shop, nothing too exciting.

Hope you have a great trip!

Reply

Hahaah, that’s so funny! I have three of that exact type of calculator that I carry with me at all times and use to write every exam (engineering student). Either Brooke is a budding genius or perhaps I need to re-evaluate my choice of calculators? We both know the answer to that one :)

Reply

Brooke is so cute!!! I want to be one of her best friends too :-) Best cookie… that is a tough one. In high school the cafeteria sold Otis Spunkmeyer choc chip cookies in packages of threes and they barely cooked them. Embarassing story: me and my bet friend would be the last people to leave the cafeteria and scan the tables for leftovers cookies. Gross I know…

Reply

Calculator phones are the coolest, obviously. Have SO MUCH FUN!!!! :) I know you will! I looove chocolate chip cookies, and that looks like a darn good one. I may be biased, but I make a mean batch of choc chip cookies myself ;) The secret is to be heavy-handed on the vanilla!

I have an iPhone! This weekend I may be getting a new (to me) car…we’ll see how it goes!

Reply

Enjoy every moment back home with your sweet partner-in-crime Janae!! :D

Reply

Things like getting free cookies with meals is what makes having an allergy to peanuts so much more painful – I always have to pass.

This weekend I’m going to: enjoy the sun, enjoy the sun, enjoy the sun, bake, and hug my mom and dad :)

Happy Friday, Janae!

In the pic of your airport snacks, Brooke’s legs are in the most amazing position. She would be a fantastic yoga teacher. Have fun in Utah!!!

Reply

It’s so nice that Brooke flies well. I’m sure that makes it easier for you to go visit your family. Your Chipotle salad is making me want a salad…maybe I’ll do that for dinner. I have a Motorola Droid Razr M, which I really like because it’s slightly smaller than other smartphones so it’s easier to carry. Costco had a deal a few months back where you got one free if you bought this other phone, so my fiance and I both got new phones.

What are 5 things you are going to do this weekend?

-1)Put in a long run, 2) hang out with the family (my grandmother’s in for the weekend), 3) go out for dinner, 4) drive to/from the airport two more times making 4 times in 4 days (it’s been a long, crazy week), 5) watch the new episode of Mad Men (I’m obsessed with the show but disappointed with the season thus far, am I the only one?)

When/where/what was the best cookie that you have ever had?

-I love homemade ginger snaps – I have a great family recipe – they are so fluffy and delicious!

What kind of phone do you have?

-I have a white iPhone 5. I’m addicted to all things Apple.

When my oldest was a baby she was obsessed with the remote. So we took the batteries out of an old remote and gave it to her. She loved it however every time my mother in law came she did not get it and put it up away from her. Celia would have a fit of course! Eventually Celia caught on and would hand us the nonworking remote and take the one that works!!

Reply

Brooke is soooo adorable! And… I would totally base my decision on a cookie too :)

As a math teacher… I totally support your use of a calculator as a pseudo-smart-phone!
Gabe used to type in a bunch of numbers in a row and then ask me to read the number. He was fascinated that what I typed actually had a name and I think he thought it sounded like a foreign language to him!

I have an iphone 4, but you could probably switch it out with a calculator, too, and I wouldn’t notice.
