And this is what the house looks like when I am babysitting 3 kids under 2.5 years old.  Brooke is in heaven with this toy room… It is actually bigger than our entire apartment.

DSC 2413

I was babysitting while my sis-in-law and my brother went to the doctor’s… she is 20 weeks along and just found out she is having a GIRL!!!!  Brooke is going to have so many girl cousins right around her age.

It must run in the family to have strong cravings for donuts when we are pregnant.  Donuts are her biggest craving right now!

DSC 2409

We picked up some donuts (apple fritter for me of course) from their favorite donut shop (Bosa) and they were heavenly.

Chicken Spaghetti.  My SIL gave me a list of menu items to choose from for dinner last night and this one jumped out of me.  She found it on Pinterest…. do people really even buy cookbooks anymore?

DSC 2419

Approximately 4 minutes after dinner I was in my sweats (actually Billy’s sweats.  Why are boys clothes so much more comfortable?), on the ground and watching The Voice.  Sounds like my kind of night.

Photo 2 1

My legs are still pretty tight from my 5k at the track.  They are probably still tight because that was the first time I did any type of speed work in months.  I really tried to foam roll them out but apparently big blue foam thingees draw every child in the room to them.

Did you hear the good news?  Spirit of the Marathon is one of the greatest running movies and the SECOND one will be here soon.

Billy, looks like you are taking me on a date on June 12th.

My house always looks like that and I only have one child. Gentry is wearing that same outfit right now (is it from Target?)
My legs are sore from a speed workout so I’m in the recover boots today!

Reply

Our house also looks like a toy volcano erupted and left a path of destruction. Watch out for those pesky wooden blocks and mega blocks. They can wreak havoc!

Reply

The toy room looks like fun! I’m sure Brooke was in heaven!! I’ve never seen that movie, but I will definitely check it out now!!!

Reply

Congrats on the baby girl!!! How fun for Brooke! Those donuts look incredible!

Reply

I watched Spirit of the Marathon right before running the Chicago Marathon this past fall! And Brooke is so lucky to have so many girl cousins around her age! I have a lot of girl cousins but 2 are older and 3 are much younger. The older ones and I are friends now but we rarely saw each other growing up, and the younger ones I babysat all though high school! Now they’re in high school (one is about to graduate!!!) I can’t believe how old they are!

Reply

Congrats to your brother and sister in law on having a girl!! Haha on tuesday nights when it comes time to turn on some reality tv, my boyfriend and i go back and forth over whats better- the voice or dancing with the stars. personally im a dwts fan :)

Reply

Spirit of the marathon makes me tear up every time! I’m sore from running- I did a marathon on Sunday!!

Reply

I love babysitting but it definitely makes it way easier when the kids are the same age so they can play together. It also helps when you have a toy room the size of an apartment… I haven’t had donuts in forever but every time you talk about them I get the biggest craving! And I swear I’m not pregnant so it must be my sweet tooth kicking in.

Reply

Congrats to your sister-in-law! Her son and daughter are adorable, so I’m sure this new baby girl will be, too. I’m hoping my kids will be like Brooke and will have lots of cousins who are about the same age to play with. I’ll keep the fascination with foam rollers in mind when that time comes. My dog actually gets all weird when I foam roll, but I think mostly that’s because she wants to play with me and when I foam roll, I’m down at her level. Enjoy the rest of your time with your family!

Have not seen it, but really want to! I am pregnant right now and have been doing the “Tracy Anderson Pregnancy project” DVDs plus running and my thighs are super sore from doing the Tracy A workout yesterday! As for finding out-I will find out as soon as I can! I am only 11 weeks at this point, so a little further to go before we are able to.

Reply

I am loving the Tracy Anderson workouts too. My girlfriend gave me the Post-Pregnancy workout when I was pregnant with #1 and I just loved it!!! I also do the Mat Workout Method. It’s not too hard to do while pregnant. I think she’s gorgeous too. :-) Good luck with your pregnancy.

Reply

Oooh Rachel, is the post pregnancy workout worth purchasing?

Reply

Yes, I like it a lot. It’s, I think, almost an hour long. She does like 20-25 min abs, then the legs/butt and then short arms segment, BUT I’ve read reviews and there were so many people that are NOT pregnant and they thought it was fantastic. I remember the first week (6 weeks after baby), I was so sore!! Highly recommend it.

Spirit of a Marathon is GREAT! Very Motivating.
My BF and I are addicted to The Voice right now.

Reply

I had three kids under 2 years old at one point and my house ALWAYS looked like that ;) Great times!

Cannot wait to watch Spirit of the Marathon II. So excited!!

Reply

I have a whole cupboard of cookbooks, but I really only use pinterest for recipes anymore. I mean, you get to see what it looks like, why would you use boring cookbooks anymore?

I’m not sore or anything today. I’ve been doing the bike trainer and taking the week off from running.

Reply

Totally agree about boys clothes being comfier.. I wear Andy’s sweats 99% of the time I’m not in public!

Reply

I’ve never seen that movie, but I’m going to look for it. Congrats to your SIL!

Reply

I havent seen it yet but really want to! I will have to check it out before the new one comes out :) My favorite tv show is currently New Girl. Cracks me up every episode.

Reply

Congrats on the baby girl! Why can’t girls clothes be as comfy?!

Reply

1. I have not seen the Spirit of the Marathon! I think I need to look for it on Amazon!

2. I am not running for the next two days because my half is on Saturday! My first HALF! Oh my!!!! :)

3. I am not pregnant but my husband and I have discussed that when we do have a baby, we do want to be surprised, unless it is twins :)

4. I love the Voice as well but only for the judges, they are so funny and very compatible together!

Reply

I’ve never seen spirit of the marathon, but I would love to try. I think I’d really like it :-) This may not be fully a “running” movie, but Cool Runnings is my absolute favorite sports movie (the guys in it ARE runners!). I used to watch it before every marathon! I saw Chariots of Fire but it just didn’t do it for me like Cool Runnings…such a classic.

I did an easy 5 miles yesterday but hope to do a bit more today and get sore!

Not pregnant but obsessed with kids. We picked our neighbors up from daycare yesterday. It was the highlight of my day ;-)

Love the Voice. The coaches alone are reason enough to watch the show! I was disappointed in the last two guys that were eliminated though.

Reply

I am sore from my first run in 2 months! I only did 3.5 miles and tried to keep a semi-easy pace but it was hard because I was so happy and excited to be able to run again! I have been foam rolling and stretching up a storm!

that dinner looked amazing!

Reply

The foam roller is my BFF!

We don’t have a TV, and my movie knowledge is limited.

My hub is a writer, and he’s shocked by my lack of movie knowledge. Yet, I’ve truly listened to him enough to be able to quote movies at appropriate times. Plus I research them a bit, too, if needed.

That says something about the listening skills needed to have a happy marriage, no?

Reply

I’ve never seen Spirit of the Marathon, but I’ve heard lots of people say how good it is! I’m definitely going to watch it before the second one comes out! I have to admit, my butt is pretty sore from doing the 8 min. buns workout on Tuesday!!! :)

Reply

That’s awesome about Brooke having so many girl cousins. I grew up with a lot of girl cousins & my sister around my age and we’re all really close now that we’re grown up. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My legs are a little tight from my run yesterday, I stretched and foam rolled after but while I stretched it became very apparent that I have lost most of my flexibility. I need to make stretching part of my daily routine whether or not I run that day.

PS. I would have been all over that sprinkle donut. haha

Reply

My calfs are a little tight from yesterday’s run. I rolled/stretched my quads out pretty well last night. I did 5 miles at an average pace of 7:37!

I’m a huge fan of The Voice – I’m a big Danielle fan. I like the Swan Brothers too….pretty much I love everyone on Blake’s team. I’m not impressed with Shakira’s team and Adam’s team is meh. I love Michelle Shamuel on Usher’s team though!

Reply

I watched the voice the first two seasons. I haven’t had a chance to watch it at all this season. Sad face.

Glad to see you are getting the little ones started on their foam rolling!

That apple fritter looks amazing!

Reply

I always hate when they do movies like these and don’t put them in the theater near me!! However, THIS ONE IS COMING TO MY CITY :) I think Ben will have to take me too! <3

Reply

Mmmmm, donuts (said in best Homer Simpson impersonation). Krispy Kremes right out of the oven are AMAZING but dangerous! They are so warm and gooey, you don’t even realize you’re eating them. Before you know it, you look down and three are gone. There’s a local 10-miler that always has donuts as a post-race refreshment. Perfect reward after a hilly race!

Reply

I LOVE chicken spaghetti it’s something I’ve been eating since I was little, it was one of my mom’s specialties!

Reply

Aw looks like you and Brooke are having a great time! Those doughnuts look amazing!

Reply

I would have been in -heaven- if I found myself in a toy room like that when I was little. Heck, I’d probably be in heaven if I found myself in one at this age ;) Not gonna lie… part of the reason I want to have kids is so that I can have a legitimate excuse to play with toys again.

Congrats to your sister in law! My family is pretty heavy on girl kids too, which makes me wonder what I’m going to have…

Reply

I have not seen Spirit of a Marathon, must check this out!!

Reply

I’m so sore right now! My husband and I just started month 2 of Insanity, and it’s intense. I’m not pregnant right now, but I’ve always thought that if I have a baby I definitely want to be surprised.

Reply

Those doughnuts look awesome. They have a perfect glaze to them.

Reply

I have not see Spirit of the Marathon but I want to see it so bad! My legs are pretty tight from running hills right now! I love the Voice but I am a huge fan of NCIS!

Reply

I’ve never seen Spirit of the Marathon, but I’ll have to check it out! I’m sore, but not from a workout–I’m 30 weeks pregnant and my whole body hurts lol! We’re having a girl!

Favorite TV show…do I have to choose just one? Right now I’d say NCIS, but I have so many shows that I DVR and watch!

Reply

I loved the first Spirit of the Marathon! It is so inspiring; I almost decided to run a marathon after watching it! On Tuesday I did a track workout and I’m still pretty sore from that…my hamstrings especially! I have to foam roll secretly so my dog doesn’t try to attack my roller. Favorite show (s): Mindy Project, New Girl, and Castle. I am a sucker for relationship shows!

Reply

Are you sore or tight from running or a tough workout right now? Where? – I did 2 monster work outs back to back this week and every muscle in my body is screaming at me. I am getting ACL surgery in 5 days so I am pushing myself to really work hard on the days leading up to it! You can check out the work outs here: http://abetteryeartoabetterlife.com/2013/05/15/post-acl-workouts-and-eats/

You won’t be disappointed : )

Reply

I love Spirit of the Marathon and can’t wait to see the new one!! I am almost 17 weeks pregnant right now and will be finding out in 2 weeks what we are having, I can’t wait :) I am sore right now from my run yesterday. It wasn’t a tough workout but for some reason since I got pregnant I get sore so much easier? Is that normal?

Reply

OMG there used to be a Bosa donuts near where I grew up (in the Chicago suburbs) – it was so good!! that was the best after-church treat. it’s closed now though :(

Reply

Congrats to your brother and sister-in-law! Very exciting!

Mmm and now I want a donut!

Reply

Love the picture of the kids and the foam roller. Every time I try to foam roll and our puppy is in the same room, she insists that the foam roller is a toy.

I’m sore from a strength workout two days ago…I did a lot of hip exercises, and turns out, my hips aren’t as strong as I thought they were. ;)

I’M OBSESSED WITH THE VOICE. Especially Danielle. She’s so cute! And she makes me feel incredibly unaccomplished with my life. But she’s still adorable like no other.

Reply

Shame on you for posting those pictures of those donuts, omgggggggg!

Reply

I finally saw Spirit of the Marathon about 2 months ago. I’m excited for the next one to come out. It got me very excited for my first marathon which is coming up on Sunday. I’m the opposite of sore right now since I’m in the final phase of the taper. My last run before the race was a little 3 miler this morning that I ran with my husband. I have all sorts of confidence now!

Reply

I’m pretty excited to see Spirit of the Marathon 2! I loved the first one :)

Reply

I have never seen Spirit of the Marathon!

I am sore from my 7.5 mile run on Tuesday, its actually my hamstring which is somewhere I haven’t been sore in a long time.. uh.

23 weeks pregnant here :) we decided to keep it a surprise!!! I have a 2 year old boy and we found out with that pregnancy. I am excited for a surprise this time!!

LOVE The Voice.

Reply

I was pretty sore Tuesday from my leg workout the day before, but surprisingly after my speedwork that day, I wasn’t sore anymore :)
Pretty Little Liars, just waiting for it to come back on!! June 11!!!

I’ve never seen that movie! I’m going to now though haha those donuts look yummy, I’m not a huge donut fan, but now I want one!

I love Spirit of a Marathon and can’t wait to see the second one. It’s so inspiring!

I haven’t seen that movie but I really want to now!
Favorite TV show right now is probably New Girl or Modern Family. SO FUNNY!

Reply

I loved Spirit of the Marathon and can’t wait for the second one :) I like the Voice too, I didn’t watch this season though because I’ve been so addicted to Netflix :-/

Reply

I love The Voice!! I didn’t know it was on last night, though! I just heard Shakira is a one season judge.. She won’t be returning. I think I liked her more than Christina though!! Congrats to your sister and brother!! How exciting that must be! Brooke will be in heaven with anther girl :)

Reply

Love The Voice! I heard the rumor that Christina and CeeLo are coming back. I’m not happy about that at all! I love the current dynamic. I’m also a HUGE How I Met Your Mother fan and this week’s finale was AMAZING. If you don’t watch it, you should. It’s on Netflix Instant. I know you’re a Friends fan and I see so many similarities. I know every episode of Friends like the back of my hand. I fall asleep to it every night. Ha!

Reply

I wish I had a toy room full of baking equipment so I could just bake goodies all day. I’d be a happy girl. I always shop in the guy’s department at Dick’s Sporting Goods because the sweatpants and sweatshirts are just SO comfortable. I’ve stolen one too many sweatshirts from guy friends. Oops.

Reply

I’m moving a long distance and weight matters on a moving truck, so I ditched most of my cookbooks since all I do is look stuff up online. I only kept the family ones. My legs are a bit tight from my first tempo run in a long time yesterday.

Reply

My butt is sore because I did hill repeats yesterday. oooph. I’ve never seen spirit of the marathon, but I’ve heard such good things about it!

I love donuts…too bad I don’t have an awesome excuse like being pregnant to gorge out on them.

Reply

That first picture reminded me how fun it is to be a kid. Toys everywhere! No wonder Brooke’s in heaven.

I pushed myself through a hard run yesterday and then finally accepted the fact that I’m coming down with strep throat (I refused to believe it til my awful run confirmed it). So right now my whole body hurts!!

Reply

I’ve seen (and love) that movie! It’ll be fun to see another one.

I’m almost 34 weeks along with #2 and we’re going to be surprised re: gender again. We have a 19 mo old boy & would love either, but a girl would balance things out nicely.

Reply

Oh, I’m pregnant with #2 and we’re going to be surprised again! It’s fun, even though I sometimes get the itch to find out. Good thing they keep it off the records otherwise, I’d probably be sneaking into my file each time I went in for a check-up. We have 23-month girl now and like you, we’re happy with either boy or girl. As long as s/he’s healthy. I figure, a girl would be great for Lili to have as a sister and if a boy, hey, you get the best of both worlds! :-)

Good luck with your pregnancy. You’re almost there.

Reply

I’m going to have 3 kids under 2.5 yrs old in a matter of months! It will be a miracle if my house ever gets clean again.
I waited til the birth of my twins to find out the genders and that was so fun and exciting to do. This time I’m going to find out just to experience doing it this way, too.

Reply

Congrats to your sis-in-law!! A little girl, yay <3

Reply

Wow!!!! I can’t wait for this documentary to come out!!! I was born and raised in Rome and all my family is still there… I’m so gonna run the marathon in Rome one day!!! Thank you for the update!!!

Reply

Watching the movie on June 12th too! The Great Mall theater has a showtime :)

Still no running for me. My hip is bipolar. One day it’s good, the next day it’s very bad. :\ Not fun.

Reply

Ah I love baby girls!!!

Congrats :) I’m not preggo but I work in L&D and have BIG TIME baby fever.
Patience is my biggest virtue right now. haha

Reply

awww, another baby girl! brooke will love having so many cousins close to her age :)

i have not seen spirit of the marathon, but i’m putting it on my “must watch list” immediately!

Reply

I am sore from doing a crossfit WOD yesterday right after a 3.5 mile run. My hip flexors are killing me from the jumping lunges! I will feel the burpees and planks tomorrow…

I really need to watch Spirit of the Marathon!

Reply

I already ate two donuts this morning…..whoops!

Every time I’m considering skipping my Saturday long run, I watch Spirit of the Marathon and it kicks me into gear. I’m pretty sure I’ve watched SOTM more times in the last two years than I watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days in college (which is an embarrassing number of times).

My abs are pretty sore from doing some ab work during my pool workouts this week.

Reply

Yayyy baby girl!!! :) Now I need a donut. And I LOVE the Voice! It’s my fave singing comp show- soooo much better than American Idol!

xo

Reply

Ha! I only wear boy sweatpants. They’re soft AND have pockets. :-)

Reply

Yes a voice fan (although I am a few episods behind right now)…favorite show right now?!? Person of Interest

Reply

HA. My house looks like that with just one. We do the “clean-up” song and it works just a tad… LOL

I’m pregnant with #2 now (probably due the same time as your SIL) and we’re not finding out again. I always thought it would be great for my husband to find out the gender before me since I get to feel everything else first hand – baby kicks and jabs, Braxton Hicks, contractions… LOL Congratulations to their baby girl!!!

PS those donuts made me GROWWWWWWL.

Reply

My running group, the Cruisers, went to see Spirit of the Marathon together! I’d better check into it for our next movie night!

Reply

The running movie about Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope is so, so inspiring. I cried when I watched it. I think another movie about him is in the works.

So You Think You Can Dance is my favorite show right now!! It just started again this week and I actually race to the tv and demand silence from the family when it is on. Those dancers are unbelievable athletes!!

Reply

Donuts and a toy room? I’d call that heaven!

Reply

I did about 7 miles today…my longest in a long time..and I actually feel pretty good. I had this weird tightness on the front of my hip this morning after run..it was near the top of my pelvis and in front, so I don’t think it was IT related, but it has since gone away. I have been living on Lifetime movies lately…and the millionaire matchmaker. I know..I watch great TV ;)

Reply

Right now I have some sort of muscle sprain in my foot from running. Worst. Also, babies everywhere love the foam roller! My nieces/nephews are always playing with mine.

Reply

So cute that they love the foam roller! I’ve never seen Spirit of the Marathon, but after hearing you rave about it, I really want to. It’s very cool that they’re doing a second.

I am super sore right now I just got done volunteering at a horse rescue.

Aww congrats to your SIL! :)

I love the voice! I was totally obsessed with Caroline Glaser, she had the prettiest voice. I was so sad when she left :(

Reply

I am SO SO SO excited for SOTM 2!!! I bought my tickets last week! Major running nerd alert.

My favorite show right now is New Girl, and they just had the season finale on Tuesday which means its going to be the world’s longest wait until next season. But I love the summer because it means the Bachelorette is about to be on!

Reply

Ive never heard of spirit of he marathon! Does Forrest gump count as a running movie?! Haha!

Reply

Congrats to your sister!! And happy 9 months to beautiful Brooke! :-)

Those donuts…. And that spaghetti. Ugh. Yumm!!!

Reply

I love Spirit of the Marathon! I watched it on Netflix and wish I owned it. So inspiring! I was a huge fan of those mini chocolate donuts when I was prego with my son. My poor husband always knew to pick some up for me whenever he was out.
