Made my morning.

I taught spin this morning and Billy said that as soon as Brooke heard me unlocking the front door with my key she got the biggest smile on her face.  Made my morning, actually my month… probably my year.

We did some planks.  I lasted 3 minutes and Brooke showed me up with a 3.5 minute plank.   Her abs are so strong.

And then after all that talk about the importance of strengthening our glutes/hips I did 8 minute buns on Youtube… those 8 minutes were no joke!   I really want his bright blue leggings to teach spin in.

and also some Jane Fonda moves:

And I officially found my new favorite lunch and it is pretty much the easiest thing in the world.

The best Minestrone I have ever had.  It was so full of goodness, this may become a daily occurrence!

Brooke is sporting her adorable onesie from Dorry today while she plays with her stuffed animals (her favorite kind of toys… I need my mom to send me my beanie baby collection ((all 500 of them)) because I think she would love them).

Looking forward to 4 pm today, Billy has been the busiest ever the last two weeks and so this weekend I am calling it a ‘lazy/do nothing productive/no studying’ holiday…  it will be a good time.

I love your posts, you and Brooke are adorable!! I have a long run, my longest, 19 miles to do this weekend. So scared!

My 11 year old son held a 3.5 plank on his first try! I was impressed! My longest plank ever was 5:03!
Our weekend will be filled running around doing errands and then spending time with my family for pizza and card night!
Have a great weekend!!

Brooke is so precious! No races this weekend but a nice long run. I have a race next weekend, I am so excited! I think this weekend will be full of packing and wedding planning but it shouldn’t be to bad! I got a lot of work done today and my brother and his family met me at Panera. It was nice! Hope you have a great weekend!!!

I had a TON of beanie babies as a kid but I was NOT smart enough to sell those bad boys!

Good to know the soup’s great. I will be picking some up. Have very relaxing, do nothing kind of weekend! That’s what I’m planning on!

Loving the workout videos your posting, way to stay strong and listen to your new coach! I’m hoping to do a longish run tomorrow before my half next week:)

This weekend I am going to Kansas City to my grandson’s 2nd birthday party. I love that kid.

It always amazes me how strong babies are! Go Brooke!

A busy, but fun weekend is in the making…bridal shower for my best friend, long run, movie, deep cleaning my apartment, etc… The Salt Lake Marathon is tomorrow! But, I’m not running it :( waited too long to sign up and didn’t fit my budget. Going to cheer all the runners on though!

I’ll be running home from work today (from Research Park at the U, down to 33rd south in Sugar House (fellow Utahn here!), about 6 miles).

Aaaand something that made my day was Zupas for lunch! Love their Wild Mushroom Bisque.

My little guy made my day today… He makes my day every day though. ;)

Oh yes, Beanie Babies were all the rage among me and my friends in elementary school. Remember when they were going to be worth tons of money someday? Hmm wonder what happened to that. :)

I have been sucked into news coverage as well. I needed to get out of the basement (where the tv is where I work) so I am listening to radio coverage now. My husband’s birthday is tomorrow! My weekend plans include a 22 mile long run and spending time with my in-laws who are staying with us this weekend.

Please note that lunges while holding your child negate all Swedish Fish eaten that day. That’s what I told myself 2 days ago.

My made-my-day moment was watching our daughter giggle and laugh with her Dad. He turned to a pool of Papa mixed with his daughter’s drool.

Oh, and second to that would be the ease in which I handled life when the hub pushed onward with a Swedish business partner. It seems strangely normal to pick up our daughter and do our thing when calls come in and new work is being fostered.

I had a TON of beanie babies! Like I collected them like no one’s bizz ;) The fact that I made a bangin’ broccoli salad today kinda made my day and I got to play stay at home momma! Totally wish I could go back to it! Blue Ridge Half this weekend! What what!!! Happy weekend my friend!

I’m hoping for a lazy weekend! We’ll see if that is how it ends up. I don’t have any races planned but I have a run planned so that I can stop at a store to sign up for one! The thing that made my day today is my boss bringing in strawberry shortcakes for our department! So tasty! And of course I had beanie babies….I was going to collect all the bears and get rich! Brooke’s stuffed animal is so cute! Simba?

oh my gosh TJ’s minestrone soup is the best soup ever!! Its a weekly staple for me for sure. Hopefully if my Achilles behaves, my next race will be a half on Memorial Day!

I’m definitely up for a “lazy/do nothing productive/no studying holiday”!

Enjoy it! Have a great weekend!

Reply

I need to try that soup! I have not been able to stop watching the news….

Reply

Unfortunately, very busy weekend ahead. Thank goodness for our day of rest!
I have also been watching the news carefully all day. So scary.
I definitely had beanie babies. Those things were a MUST!

Busy weekend. I have a 12 mile run tomorrow and my first 1/2 marathon 2 weeks from tomorrow and a baseball game Sunday!! My son and I were able to go see my husband for lunch so that totally made my day because we had a long night – growing pains for my son, we think?? He seemed like he was in agony which broke my heart. My kid always does a downward dog way better than I ever can!

Reply

Go Brooooke with that plank! She’s a natural! ;) This weekend will be lots of working for us! Helping the husband on some new projects and I’m excited! No running today, but I rode the spin bike for an hour and then we went on a nice walk around the neighborhood.

I had/have a TON of beanie babies. Not 500, but definitely 100. I don’t know what to do with them all, haha.

And yes! I have a race on Sunday! 5K and I’m hoping for a PB, but it’ll be tough because I ran my butt off to get my last PB (which was only a week ago). We’ll see. :)

Have a great lazy weekend!

Reply

We’re hoping to have a semi-lazy weekend over here too. Enjoy!!

Love Brooke’s eyes!

Busy weekend! I am doing my first triathlon!

Totally had beanie babies. I wonder where they are now….

I wish I had abs like Brooke!

I’m looking for this day to turn around because so far it has been :( My parents are coming to town for the tri so I’m sure it will be :) soon!

Reply

I am going to have a busy weekend wedding planning, but that is okay because I love it! :)

My day was made today by getting to spend some much needed time with some of my best girl friends!

Reply

You and Brooke are adorable. I’m not sure I camping will be busy or relaxing so I will have to get back to you on that :-)

Reply

I might do a race that the youthlinks group is putting on. The run a hound 5k where you can register to run with or without your dog. I don’t have a pup. I’m looking forward to doing it though…

Reply

I was obsessed with BeanieBabies and so sure my collection would be worth lots hahaha

Brooke looks just like your niece in that pic!

I had no idea that there were strengthening exercises on YouTube; I’m gonna have to check those out. I’m going to have a busy weekend–8 hours of work on both days. I have an 8 mile long run planned on Sunday, my last long run before a marathon I’m running. Have a great weekend!

Reply

Hopefully a lazy Saturday at least. On call for Sunday but that’s usually a slow call out day (hope I didn’t just jinx myself). I need to ride my bike this weekend, I have a tri in a few weeks that I’m very under prepared for. You are making me feel old-I had/have some beanie babies when my son was younger. I got rid of a lot of them but kept a few of ‘my’ favorite ones. I’m been glued to the tv all day too (which was hard to do at work). I hope this ends soon.

Aww Brooke is so cute doing planks!
I collect beanie babies! I left them though when i moved here in the US

My mom was a hard core beany baby collector. She would go early to Nordstroms when she knew they were getting a new shipment in. Or she would get ‘tips’ that stores and little boutiques would get some in that she didn’t have (she kept track) or the rare ones. I kid you not we drove to Bear Lake once to get some. It is ridiculous. She still has them all – probably 500 of them – and the grandkids just play with them. Remember how they used to ‘sell’ and be worth stuff. Bahaha. That whole thing is just typical Jane. She does stuff like that all the time.

Funny though when Ross and I were dating he was telling me about how he used to work at Nordstrom and how crazy old ladies would line up early to buy these dumb beanie babies. I was like yep. That was my mom. His future mother in law ;)

Have a great relaxing weekend. I am hoping we can paint paint and paint. My house is a disaster!

Reply

OMG she is so cute doing planks and good job with 3 minutes dang supergirl! I want that soup. In fact I saw this recipe once how to enhance canned soup and you can add fresh spinach while warming it up and I want to try it with this. Thank you for sharing.

Reply

hmmm semi lazy weekend… too much school stuff to be totally lazy! I wish… Brooke totally beats me on the plank, she’s an inspiration. ;)

Reply

Hot damn, that baby can PLANK!

Reply

That stuffed Nala is the cutest thing ever. I want it.

I had SO many beanie babies when I was a kid. I would put them all next to me as I was sleeping because they were kind of small for me to cuddle with just one. :)

Reply

I did 8 minute abs 2 days ago and I’m still sore! I love his blue leggings… how many times does he say “gang”? ;)

As a law student, I commend you for proclaiming a no-study holiday!! We need someone outside the “bubble” to drag us out every once in a while! :)

The hubby and i have been listening to police scanners all night. It is all so weird and sad… It makes me think about things i never thought i would have to think about. My family’s safety at a race??!! My dad made a special trip to see me at a race just last weekend, and it was a big one (well, big for my area… The bluebell ice cream race!!). What if they came to an event to support me- ME- and someone did something like this? I hate that thought. It makes me sad that runners have to live with that reality.

Runners are amazing. So are their supporters. I realized that in a new way through this crazy and terrible thing. They support us way before they should be out of bed, they smell us all nasty after a race, they listen to us talk endlessly about our pace-our injuries…, they support us. Pretty great- our support system.

We have a busy weekend. I have to work tomorrow morning. Then oldest daughter are working a golf tournament fundraiser for her youth group trip with church this summer.

The sun made made my day today! We hadn’t seen it in awhile.

Reply

I have a crazy, busy wkend ahead. Kicking it off with an adventure race in the am!

Reply

My weekend will be a little busy and a little relaxing. Perfect mix :) I have a bin of beanie babies at my parents house too! Haha I loved them.

Reply

I did a 25 mile bike ride and a 6 mile run this morning. It felt great but I am exhausted! I think I might make it a semi-lazy weekend and stick to yoga and cross-training.

When I got home, my 3 month old was all smiles. Holding her always makes my day.

BTW, your lunch looked so good.

Reply

Yoga makes everything better. You get to exercise and really work, but you totally feel like you got a massage when you’re done!

Reply

oooh, I totally need to get my kids to try planks. I did Pilates today and my planks are getting stronger, I’m so inspired by your daughter though! I have a long run but it’s shorter than the recent runs since it’s a taper before a half marathon next week.

Reply

That soup looks incredible! I have been on a huge soup kick lately, which is probably because the weather in NZ is starting to get cold and rainy. I will most likely be eating soup for dinner tonight….and probably tomorrow.

Reply

Our running group is running in the GW Parkway Ten-Miler on Sunday. It’s a beautiful races that starts at Mount Vernon and runs along the Potomac River to Alexandria.

Reply

My grandmother was the one who collected the beanie babies! She had all of us running around to all of the stores that would get new ones regularly… She had a whole shelving unit full of them!
Brooke’s plank totally puts my plank to shame… ;)

Janae– I emailed you a while back about this race in Orem Utah today. Not sure if you got it, but wanted to ask again if you can maybe send out the word about this 5K in Orem for the Reid family.

It’s starts at 9am– which is probably too late, but maybe people can donate anyway. Thanks!

I woke up this morning to a light dusting of snow here in Michigan. That is totally uncalled for on April 20! A couple miles in the park with my husband and teenage kids. At least the sun is shining. When Brooke gets older you can play the Beanie baby game with her. My kids would have a hard time deciding which one to sleep with so I would choose one while they closed their eyes and then keeping their eyes closed they would have to feel it to guess which one it was. This prevented 20 minutes of choosing or having forty beanie babies in their bed.

Reply

I’m not too busy, just a few things. 10 miles on Sunday! I had pizza last night and that made me so.happy. I rarely eat it so when I do I go hard!

Reply

That onesie is SO cute!! I am so happy that they finally caught the last suspect. The healing can finally begin.

Yesterday was very insane, and I was glued to the TV too. I live right outside Boston so it was extra crazy here. It felt very surreal. I’m going to try to write up a post about all the emotions involved in the next few days because I feel like I have to get it in writing.

Reply

I had a jammed packed weekend with work, my running class and a long run! I was crazy for beanie babies growing up. I would always save up my allowance to buy a new one. I loved the unicorn one! :)

Reply

I had a lazy week-end, so nice!

Reply

Look at Brooke go! She will be the fittest girl ever with a core that strong ;) Now that the weekend is over, Iwill say it was lazy and I loved it!
