Loved all of your comments on my post about the scale and how to feel good about your post baby body! Thank you!
Yesterday’s workout was teaching a sweaterific (my new favorite word) spin class, followed by some 8 minute abs with my main homie. I have been doing this video almost every day for two weeks and I am positive that it is actually getting harder and harder to do each day. Also, I really think we should go back to wearing the early 90’s workout fashion.
I took a picture of lunch but decided not to show you because the bowl of leftover macaroni and cheese next to the bowl of raisin bran didn’t really look very good together. It was one of those days that both things sounded delicious for lunch and so I had both.
A few hours later we took it to the park. Brooke really likes other kids.
My friend and I went on a walk on the trail and then played at the park with the kiddos.
Just one more swing picture.
After the park Brooke and I went to the library to get some new books because I have now read every book that she owns to her approximately 12 million times. We learned all about electricity, squirrels and the Berenstain Bears.
When Billy got home from school I told him that I was making homemade taquitos and this was his reaction. I think the Cheetos really make the picture.
This is one of my ‘proud of myself’ meals. It was really good. First, I cooked two chicken breasts in the crockpot and then shredded them. I mixed in a can of green chills, a tablespoon of taco seasoning and some salsa and filled the corn tortillas with the chicken mixture and some cheddar cheese. Rolled them up, sprayed the tops of them with cooking spray and baked them for 15 minutes @ 425 degrees. Served with some green peppers and apples.
I am still regretting the fact that we didn’t have guacamole for the taquitos. Next time.
Dessert was chocolate from Brooke’s Easter basket. It is going to be a sad day when I actually have to ask her if I can eat all of her Halloween/stocking/Easter basket candy.
Tell me about THREE things you have planned for today!
Running, cross training or rest day for you?
Favorite Mexican food dish?
Last random meal that you had?
-cereal and mac and cheese.
Poor Brooke won’t even know what hit her when her candy is gone. Your lunch does sound delicious. Leftover mac and cheese is almost as good as fresh mac and cheese. Today is a running day for me after pool running yesterday. It’s a need for speed kinda day!
I’m going to preface this by saying I normally think babies are not cute in the slightest (not sure why, just always have) but I can honestly say your Brooke is the CUTEST freaking little thing I’ve ever seen. Every picture she looks stinkin adorable. I cant get enough! You should be very proud of her :) (not that cuteness is everything in life but it doesn’t hurt, right?)
have you tried the butt dvd yet?? it’s good too!
Kris @ www.kris-Lawrence.com
I have an easy paced 10 miler today and my favorite Mexican food is Chimichangas…basically fried burritos ;). Mainly I am commenting to say Brooke is the cutest baby on the Internet and I support all pictures containing Cheetos! I caught up on your blog this morning and thought your scale post was very brave.
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy
I was told to rest today since I have a half on Sunday but I just can’t. So I’m doing the elliptical for the next couple days.
Then I have to post, make food, and go to work.
I love any and all mexican food. Fajitas are my favorite though, complete with side plate of all the toppings.
My husband would love that meal. I may recreate it! I did my cross training this morning and am looking forward to a long run this pm!
Emma @ Culturecopia
Haha love Billy’s reaction. Those taquitos look delicious! I must try them sometime :). Today I ran 7.5 miles. It’s been a good running week for me! Are you also running today too? The rest of my day will be spent applying for graduate school/applying for jobs/ studying for a final tomorrow!!!
Ashley @ OurPersonalRecords
I LOVE Mexican food. I think my favorite dish is veggie enchiladas. The last random meal I had consisted of a quinoa stir fry, peeps, and jelly beans.
To just reminded how great taquitos are and how long it’s been since I’ve had them!
I tried that 8minute ab video, and now I want to do it every day because I love how he calls us (the video doers) “gang” haha, love it!
Yey for Brooke being a little reader, wohoo!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
I’m going to ZUMBA today! Three things I have planned: 1) go to Zumba 2) hopefully write a short paper for school and 3) TACO NIGHT (aka margherita night) with my friends!!!!!!
You may have to pick me up from the airport because every picture of Brooke just makes me want to give her a big ol’ hug. She is too friggin’ cute!
Sadly I love any and all types of Mexican food. I’m so making those taquitos when I get off my sugar detox-they look yummy!
I am on day 54 of complete rest (except for stretching, PT exercises, and foam rolling) for a “it’s never going away” ITB injury. And I have a mini tri coming up in 7 1/2 weeks. Yikes!
Jessica R @ fromthekitchentotheroad
Homemade taquitos sound really good! I might need to copy you there one of these days. I love how friendly kids can be around other kids. They have no issue going up to some random child and instantly becoming bff’s.
I love your food pictures, makes sense that Billy was so excited about dinner!
Just got back to NYC from Australia. After traveling for 24 hours the 3 things I’ll be doing today is: 1. Order in and have breakfast in bed. 2. Have a nap later today. 3. Think about what I’ll have for dinner tonight.. Very easy day I would say:) My favorite Mexican food is veggie burritos with a lot of guacamole and the last random meal I had was vegetable fried rice and chocolate.
Elizabeth @ My Neon Running Shoes
Brooke is precious on the swing. We are about to head out for a run! Last random meal was honey nut Cheerios and sushi. So good haha!
Emily @ Maple Miles
Either you should be a baby photographer or Brooke should’ve a Baby Gap model, because your pictures of her are AMAZING!
Three things I have planned today: running, breakfast at my favorite place with my best friend, and enjoying 50 degree temps! (Warm for NY this year!!!)
I like almost all Mexican food as long as there is lots of guac and hot salsa!
Mexican is my #1 fav food! I’m all about a burritos!
Todays plans: work, hopefully doing Bikram tonight, relaxing when I get home with a good movie.
Random meal: last night was a bit rushed as we met our friends newborn baby girl for the first time! I made them strawberry cookies. I ate one of them and made myself a quick “quesadilla” on a roasted red pepper wrap with just melted cheese and some franks red hot sauce. Microwave for 30 seconds, perfect every time!
Enjoy your Thursday!
Tara | Treble in the Kitchen
I love that 8 minute abs video…especially the fact that he says “come on gang!!” So 90’s!! :)
I now find myself saying to people, “come on, gang! We’ve got this!”
Heather @ Run Eat Play
Don’t worry…I eat all my kids candy. They hardly notice :)
Today: Going to the gym, going to the grocery store, picking up my race packet for an April Fool’s 5k this weekend.
Have a great day!
Kari @ Running Ricig
Today is a running day for me. I’m getting so used to all of the cross training and rest days that it’s a surprise when I actually have to run. RLRF is a tricky training plan.
I love all Mexican food. You really can’t go wrong!
Today I get to: work, do laundry, and pack to go hang out with my little sister and run a half marathon! Hooray! It’s my first one of the year… It’s still pretty chilly in the Midwest :)
–Today was a sub-par cross training day that should have been a rest day!!! body tired!!!
— so far no random food today, but usually you can always find Kirkland Organic Tortilla Chips from Costco as a “side” to EVERY MEAL. so perfectly salty and crunchy : )
— today I plan on studying my badonk off, then CLEANING MY APARTMENT. this is so so needed. infact, I think it is a priority over studying.
Obsessed with your blog : ) thanks!!
Rest, work, Bible study. Does a margarita count as a Mexican dish?!
laura @ beanstalk
Props to you on that Mexican meal! Looks amazing. My favorite Mexican food enchiladas or tamales, guac. Oh it’s all so good.
Today is a running day for me.
Brooke is SO cute per usual. =)
2.exercise + do an ab workout. I hate doing abs! I’m thinking about trying that 8-minute ab video… recommend it!?
3.spending time with the husband (he’s off school today + i’m off work. good day!)
Three things for today…
1. go for a run
2. go to Pure Barre
3. Eat dinner since I’ll be starving after all of that!
I love Mexican food so much! I need to try new recipes! I’m so just tired after work and that the last I want to do is cook for an hour… I need to invest in a crock pot!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat
I used to do that video all the time – his remarks (and their outfits) crack me up!
[email protected] Run It My Way
Ok I am SO making taquitos soon!! They look awesome :)
Today is a RUN day for me! I’m pretty excited to get outside and run.. haha unless it’s cold out.. then I’m excited to get on the treadmill and catch up on some reality tv and run ;-)
Today I have planned a workout (already done!), making an awesome dinner, and doing my taxes (ew). I did cross training today, I have a stress fracture so I can’t run until May 14 (2 months off of running..I literally have a calendar counting down the days until I run again), so my workout was rowing, spinning, elliptical, lifting and abs! (20 minutes of each cardio)..
Favorite mexican food? Fajitas with guac!! I like the kind we make the best, I prefer my own “mexican” rather than going out for it…
Last random meal I had? Bowl of tun, bowl of cottage cheese, wheat thins dipped in both. mmmmm..
Wendy @ New Moms Talk
I’m not the biggest Mexican food person, but my husband loves these veggie enchiladas and requested them for next week.
Three things today: research homes for our upcoming move, scavenger clearance sales (98th percentile height baby is growing F-A-S-T!), and yoga.
Cori @ olivetorun
Isn’t today the first run day back!? WOOT!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Your lunch sounds perfect to me. I get a lot of random cravings like that so something like a grilled chicken salad with a bowl of almond butter oatmeal on the side definitely isn’t a strange thing for me. And I have to say that cereal makes the perfect accompaniment to pretty much any meal.
And I’ve got a pretty busy day ahead of me with work and last minute birthday errands to run, so I should probably get on that instead of sitting here reading blogs ;)
mary @ minutes per mile
It’s hard to pick a favorite mexican dish because I pretty much think they are all a delicious form of tacos, just compiled differently. You can make burritos (huge rice-filled tacos), taquitos (sort of like fried tacos), enchiladas (extra cheesy tacos), chimichanga (huge deep-fried taco). top them all with salsa, avocado, and sour cream and I am in heaven.
Rhonda and Sandrine
Plans for today: Sandrine: running; Rhonda: walking and yoga
I have planned to eat lunch with my dad, interview for a summer job, and go with my fiance to pick up my wedding band! It should be a fun day :)
And today is a cross training day for me. I am hoping to get some strength training in and maybe go to a Pilates class.
Favorite Mexican food dish is probably fajitas :)
Sarah @ Blonde Bostonian
I have plans to get tons of shit done at work today (focus!), cook dinner for me and my boyfriend, and buy plane tickets to head to Cali this summer to visit friends! Woo!!
Rest day for me today. My body is begging for a day off. phew!
Allee @ Griselda Mood
Favorite Mexican meal has to be a burrito/taco bowl of some sort…I love all the stuff w/o the wrap!
Three things for the day: work, class, and Glee. Wow. I just realized how incredibly unexciting that sounded.
Favorite Mexican dish has to be some good chicken enchiladas, and by good I mean the recipe that comes on the side of the of the Campbell’s Cream of Chicken can (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/campbells-easy-chicken-and-cheese-enchiladas/), which is probably the most Americanized Mexican dish known to man. lol. I like queso too. Muy bien.
Had to laugh at the picture of Billy getting excited about the taquitos. lol.
@Sam–I made these last week!! how good were they!!!??? Yum!
Three things planned: work, run, laundry (how exciting).
I love Mexican food…especially enchiladas!
My last random meal was dinner a couple nights ago. Too lazy/tired to cook= leftover stir fry and potato chips with Top the Tater. So healthy!
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
I love homemade taquitos and pretty much any other Mexican meal you could dream up. If is includes avocado and cheese, I’m in! Little Brooke is growing so much and is cute as ever!
1. Run in the rain (check) 2. Grocery shop 3. Foam roll the heck out of my rear
We often go out for Mexico food and then get there and realize all we really wanted were the margaritas, chips and salsa and then we leave and eat dinner elsewhere. I could eat a burrito bowl from chipotle daily though.
Take out the trash, meet up with the book club, go to the bank.
Tacquito’s are my favorite mexican, but I have never tried to make them myself. I just might have to now!
Crosstraining….Elliptical and weights.
Random was after Easter on Sunday. Cool Ranch Dorito’s and a red velvet bundt cake.
The Kidless Kronicles
Laura @ Live, Run, Sparkle
Those taquitos look incredible! Way to go!!
I am going to run tonight outside, it is a whopping 10 degrees celcius here near Toronto (50 degrees fahrenheit for you guys). I am moving across the country soon and the stress of it all is getting to me, so running will help me blow off some steam. I can’t wait :)
Oh my gosh, my freshman year college roommates and I used to do 8-Minute Abs all the time! ahhh Memories…
Those look fantastical!!
Logan @ Mountains and Miles
LOVE Mexican food. This week we made burrito bowls, which was basically just a delicious bowl-filled salad of spinach, chicken, guacamole, salsa, tomatoes, green peppers, brown rice, and black beans.
Hill repeats (which I was supposed to do this morning, but I slept in..oops), yoga and a 10 mile bike ride are all on the plan for today.
Today I am going to clean, clean, and clean to get ready for my baby girl that is coming TOMORROW!! So excited/nervous/scared to have 3 kids! Ha! Ha!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Ahhhhhhhhh so so exciting!!!!! Good luck:)
Sarah (Shh...Fit Happens)
I already worked out this morning, so after work I have pizza and wine on the to-do-list!
Those look amazing, how did you get the corn tortillas not to crack? Today’s my rest day which will be awesome because we’re going to see a Comedian tonight!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona
My workout this morning was level 1 of the 30 Day Shred. It was intense to say the least!
On spring break here, and ventured down to St. George (I think 80% of northern Utah came down with us). Heading to Red Cliffs today, and then maybe Zion National Park tomorrow.
Thise taquitos look amazing and now I’m starving and craving them for breakfast!!!! Hahaha. Today I am planning to go to the gym and PACK! Maybe do laundry but probably not because I procrastinate like crazy on that. Today will be a cross training day with possibly some easy running thrown in – I’m still in recovery so I have to take it slow even if I want to pound it out on the treadmill!
I am VERY sad for you that you didn’t have guac with your meal!! It’s just not the same. We made homemade taquitos last week. Mmmm. I think my favorite Mexican dish might be carne asada or tacos al pastor. But that is tough. I REALLY like Mexican. And since Ross went to Mexico city on his mission, we eat it a lot.
I went to the class at the new gym I am going to this morning. It is cardio and abs. All the box jumping, plank jacks and mountain climbers are giving me shin splints. Grrr. But I am really digging these new classes!
Yesterday I ate a can of tuna with crackers followed by some cuties. Sounds gross and random, but it worked. I get lazy at lunch time if I don’t have left overs to eat.
I swear with every picture of Brooke you post I think that is the cutest picture or my new favorite…and then you post another and I make the claim all over again!
Chelsea @ LittleOneRuns
Run day for me!!! Hoping for 13 miles :) Last random meal was pancakes and cheez-its lol. Also hoping to get some cleaning done!!!
I recently saw a recipe for buffalo chicken taquitos and this just reminded me that I still need to make them! Your version looks really good too, though… maybe I will just make both. :)
Three things for today:
1. Attending a Girls on the Run info session in a couple hours (so excited for that!)
2. Heading to the gym after work
3. Buying my grandma a birthday card
I will be cross-training today… womp womp
emma @ a mom runs this town
Crackers with butter were the last random meal I had. I’m getting over the stomach flu UGH… AND have my first half on Saturday!
PS- I’m having a GIVEAWAY on my blog if anyone is interested.
Kayla @ Fit Life Forward
Whenever you reference the 8 minute ab video I hear the guy say “come on gang!” and it makes me giggle! Happy Thursday!
That’s too funny! I have home made taquitos on my dinner menu for next week!
Three things I plan to do today include: finish a complete draft of my dissertation, do some kind of ab work, and make Mexican for dinner after reading this post! Thanks for inspiring healthy and delicious habits!
CT day for me – I had a great 4.9 mile speed session yesterday in the beautiful sunshine!
3 things: Turn in a big project for work; 50 minutes CT; finally get my taxes done!
Random meal: Pistachios, hummus, pretzel crisps and an orange
Have an amazing day!
Elizabeth @ Positive Change
Sounds like you had a great day! Three things today, run, work, run!
Today is a run day in the morning and a run with my co-workers tonight!
Dinner last night was chips, salsa, green beans and a chicken sausage. RANDOM!
I love salsa and chips and guacamole!
Sonia the Mexigarian
I haven’t had taquitos in a looooong time. I might have to try making these and surprise Eric ;)
3 things: Painting, workout of some sort and shower
Debating between a quick run then cycle class or yoga. I got my 1/2 on Sunday. . .
I don’t remember my last crazy random meal. Last night I had leftover veggies, brown rice, ground turkey and scrambled an egg on top with a tortilla.
I love making homemade taquitos! I’m not going to lie I am SO looking forward to being able to take my children to the park. I love parks! My best friend and I used to make lunch and bring it to the park when we hung out in high school and college but now that we both have full time jobs we don’t have time for the park.
That’s such a good dinner idea!! Must make asap–my husband loves Mexican!
Brooke is adorable. So so cute.
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
THREE things I have planned for today are I get to leave the house for the second outing since my surgery. I’m going to my second post-op doctor appointment. And then my dad is taking me to lunch. Of course, it will be to go because I have to keep my foot up, but I’m still excited about it! I don’t have a third thing…
Rest day, everyday. Or at least until I get the doctor release. I am going nuts with this one!
My favorite Mexican food dish? Not sure I can pick one. Anything with guacamole! I found a black bean spinach enchilada recipe that I have made for my family and we all love. http://www.thegardengrazer.com/2012/03/black-bean-spinach-enchiladas.html
Very important information about guacamole for you:
YOU CAN FREEZE IT! Then, to defrost it, leave the package under cold/lukewarm running water, or put it in the fridge for a day or so. I do this with Wholly Guacamole packages, both the big ones and the cut 100-calorie packs I get in BJ’s (Costco prob. sells them.)
The moment I discovered I could freeze guac and it was just as delicious defrosted, I think I bought a case and shoved it in my freezer. It’s simply awesome to have it RIGHT THERE whenever I want it!
The Hungry Runner Girl
I had no idea you could do this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Megan @ Megan Will Run
I love your blog!! I’ve tried to find other blogs like yours because I have a slight addiction to reading them, but I can’t. Hmmmm. SO THANK YOU!
I have to stick to what my doctor says for now. I’m recovering from foot surgery. I honestly haven’t been running in two months and that worries me too much. I may or may not have cried this morning.
I had a random meal this morning after breakfast-er, snack. I melted PB and added m&ms. I love melted PB- only way I eat it! And speaking of eating things, I can’t stand Mexican food…nasty:)
Well it’s my spring break so does running, eating, and relaxing count for my three things? Oh, I am grocery shopping after my run (always wise)!
20 miler today – trying to get motivated!
It used to be fajitas, but I just started eating meat, and now I am REALLY into beef tamales.
So cute! I love the pics of her on the swings, and I am so jealous of your weather! Also, as an elementary teacher, it warms my heart that you are already taking her to the library.
Brooke is just the cutest! :)
Those taquitos look A+mazing!
Three things to do today:
~Homework -Doing it
~Go to school -Will happen in about 2 hours
Debbie @ Deb Runs
1. I’m meeting a new client for the first time this afternoon
2. I plan to put my Easter stuff away
3. I’m having Chipotle for dinner
My favorite Mexican food is chicken fajitas!
I love taquitos too! My fav Mexican food would have to be plain ole chips and guacamole (preferably from Chipotle)! Three things to do: 1) blog 2) exercise 3) study/start a 20 pg ppr (oh dear…)
Yummm I know my hubby would have the same exact reaction if I told him I was making taquitos too!! :)
Sharisse @ sharissespieces
Does a prenatal DVD workout count as cross-training? haha! :)
1. Organize my messy desk @ work
3. Sleep early! <– this is a hard task!
I’m making those taquitos! They look good!
Its all about the fajitas when it comes to Mexican, girl, let me tell you – and the lime-ier and more “roasted” the better! Today is about to be a run day, if I can get up the energy to get out the door on this gray day. Wish me luck :)
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom
Today I have planned: treadmill workout (done), class/work (in progress), and out on the town!! My favorite Mexican dish is probably burritos (only if I can choose what goes into them), veggie tacos, or avocado enchiladas.
Karen @ Runner Girl Eats
Today was an easy run day. And anything with guacamole is my favorite dish. Love.
Renae @ MissFit Mixed Chick
My favorite mexican food dish is tortilla soup! I think mine is pretty darn awesome! I want to make taquitos now!! And I’m super happy that you guys love you some hot cheetos because I know I do!!
Today I had a tempo run planned but I’m literally falling asleep on the keyboard…That’s what spring does to me! So the three things I got planned for today are: going home and sleep, going home and sleep, going home and sleep ;) Btw, yesterday I went to Trader Joe’s with the list of your favourite things: I bought the mandarin chicken, the fluffly brown (and white) rice, and the pear champagne vinegreitte (plus a whole bunch of other stuff!)! I’ll let you know how everything was!
I need to start doing 8 minute abs again!
I had a good 4 mile run today with a few ab exercises afterwards.
I think any meal with cereal is a winner :)
I loved Berenstain Bears books as a kid! I think we had like 20 of them.
Three things: run, pick up a few things at Tractor Supply, eat dinner! (very exciting, I know)
Running day! We currently have a surprise snow storm going on… 2 inches and still coming down heavy. We will see how my planned 4 mile tempo run on the trail goes!
I love chicken enchiladas!
Last random meal- I ate a Luna bar for breakfast today, which was random for me. Usually I have a piece of fruit and a bowl of cereal but I was in a hurry. Luna bars are typically reserved for a pre-long run breakfast.
Ali @ Hit the Ground Running
I have definitely noticed that babies really love looking at other babies/toddlers. They must be thinking, “I can’t wait to be a big kid!”
Those taquitos look magnificent!
Um that sounds delish! My favorite mexican dish are white chicken enchilada’s. They are by far my favorite food ever! They have jalepenos and pecans (don’t hate until you try) and they make my mouth water just thinking of them!
BTW- my hubby has the same shirt as Billy and wore it the other day ;) Random, I know haha!
I totally had federal grand jury today! Crazy! I actually have to serve for an entire year and have to go the first and thursday of every month! I think that takes up the three things for today, because it definitely took forever! Very interesting though =)
Gah! Now I really want Mexican food! Anything with guac sells the food to me. Those taquitos look pretty darn good though!
How do you cook your chicken in the crock-pot? I usually make some concoction that involves covering it with broth and cooking on high for 4 hours. It’s delicious but takes too long! I’m hoping you know some magical secret that makes it even easier and faster :).
The Hungry Runner Girl
I buy frozen chicken breasts and just throw them in! That’s it! I season after I shred them!
Miranda @ Miranda Runs
Brooke is ALWAYS smiling! I love reading your blog because her happiness rubs off on me :) Today was a run day! 8 mile speed run- the kind of run that leaves you with your ponytail dripping sweat!
Gracie (Complicated Day)
I got my sister-in-law doing the 8-minute abs and now every time she texts me she starts it with, “Hey gang!”
Lindsey @ Run Freckles Run
We must be on the same meal schedule. When you had Chipotle, I had Chipotle. When you have mac & cheese, I have mac & cheese.
Today was a rest day for me. I love those days even if I passionately love running.
Did you end up running today?
Bearenstien bears are the best books! I loved those when I was little.
your food always look so good
So I did the 8 minute butt workout last night and it was pretty embarrassing to have my brother in law walk in, what with the spandex bum close ups. BUT (see what I did there?), you’re right, they’re great!
Taquitos are happening soon. Brooke is just too cute!
Mmm, the taquitos look delicious! And the photos of Brooke are so cute!
Those are FLAMIN’ HOT CHEETOS. I’d recognize that bag anywhere. My absolute favorite.
